Not sure why this deserves downvotes. There's plenty of reasons to dislike gender reveal parties, but trying to twist it into sounding perverted about kids makes them sound way more gross than a gender reveal party is. Nobody sees it that way but you and it's weird my dude

@Dan - I agree there's nothing wrong with being excited about the sex of the baby, but I think the reason some people think of gender reveals as announcing the genitalia is just because they go by the genitalia on the ultrasound.

@Stealthzilla Yes, they are being insensitive and idiotic to think that we should all wait for our children to have a developed brain to understand the difference in gender and the biology of each gender and their biology, because they think it is terrible to use the information provided at the moment and decide its gender based on biology and information we have

I wouldn't call that a "gender reveal party." It's a baby shower where they also happened to disclose the sex of the baby. Having a party for the sole purpose of finding out what kind of genitalia a child has is extreme.

They aren't talking to you and your one exclusive private gender reveal party. They're talking about the massive trend of gender reveals that involve going somewhere pretty and exploding something with confetti or powder then walking away from their mess.

@FlatEarf - for genotypic sex, you're right that a person can't change what chromosomes they have, but it's more complicated than xy = he and xx = she, because there is also phenotypic sex, which includes internal and external genitalia, expression of secondary sex characteristics, and behavior, which don't necessarily align with the x/y chromosomes (for example, there can be a person appearing to be female with female external genitalia but who is genetically xy). No. Gender is a forced descriptor. People are individuals and should be treated as such. Try not to compartmentalize people into categories that you find convenient or comfortable.

@bibbity I agree with you so much, all these people act like somepeople are the worst in the world because they went off of the biological gender they have when they child hasn't said a think about changing that, until that child says that they will be changing to a gender they are the biological gender they were given at birth

I didn’t say do it stupidly, you can easily cut a cake or pop a balloon indoors, I never justified these peoples actions I am simply going against everyone saying gender reveal parties shouldn’t exist.

I’m not saying trash public places I’m saying that everyone needs to stop saying all gender reveal parties are bad, a colored cake is fine, I think the parties are fun, I don’t have kids, it’s just a fun little thing. I went to one where everyone put on a blue or pink necklace to show if they were team boy or team girl, most were boy because the mom had all boys but there were the few that went for girl, and there was no environmental harm done.
