For most of us, meeting someone famous immediately gets us all star-struck. But sometimes, it feels so casual, mundane even, that it still feels very special, if not more so.
People on Twitter have been sharing their encounters with celebrities that, unlike most, were very ordinary and cool, after Twitter user @MavenofHonor shared how she, back in 2002, saw Diane Keaton in the Gap.
Over 86,100 likes and 60,700 quoted retweets later, it went viral and here we are with some of the best responses to the tweet.

This. Or it can literally mean nothing. Just that you were hungry and somehow chose that place to eat. It also depends on the culture, I guess, and how casual it is to eat outside.

Never ceases to amaze me how many stares I get from other diners, or strange looks from hostesses when they see that I am eating alone. Without fail, if there's a bar, they'll ask if I prefer to sit there instead of a table. Anyway, I'm with Keanu on this one. Eat with someone. Eat alone. EAT GREAT RAMEN...

Although they may be used to be taken pictures of them in ceremonies, conventions, etc, taking photosnof then unnanounces is a little impolite, unless they are doing something remarkable like rescuing a stray cat on a tree and want to acknowledge their good doings.

I think this is because he has us used to him, by not running from the crowds, being very accesible to fans, etc. Is like thinking "there's Keanu, may I ask him for a selfie? Nah, I'll just wait for next week when we cross pathes again".

He's just enjoying a spot of lunch while ripping it about on his motorcycle! I know I like doing that now and again, going out on the motorcycle and aimlessly riding around until I feel it's time to go home. Going on a ride, feeling the wind around you as you're rolling down some winding roads is intensely therapeutic

I eat alone all the time, I love it and am a loner by nature.The owners sometimes come sit to talk to me. There's one where I eat regularly who is almost like family to me. She invited me last Sunday to join her family for a trip to the beach. So alone means many things.

When “Whole Lotta Love” hit the airwaves in my pre-teen years, I remember asking my grandmother if it wasn’t the most beautiful song she’d ever heard and was shocked when she said No. Led Zeppelin is my all-time favorite band!

I met Shaq while walking thru the lobby at the Ritz in Chicago. He was quite a ways away and I said whoa that is one big dude. As I got closer , I recognized who he was and as we passed, I stuck out my fist and said " hey Shaq" got a "Hey" and a fist bump. I'ma good sized guy but it looked like I had a baby hand.

I have tons of these kinds of stories from my 15 years of living in LA. First one was my orientation day at FIDM. I walk out to this park on one side of the building. I see this woman and instantly think "Oh, I know her. She's someone's mom. Who's mom is that." I walk a little ways away and sit down. I'm looking at her trying to place her when it comes to me. She was Will Smith's mom on Fresh Prince of Bel Air and no, I did not know her.

I've met a ton of celebs through work, so that doesn't count. But when I was a teenager I ended up getting to fly first class back home to Africa (dad's company paid for the fares!) and ended up sitting next to Lynda Carter (the original Wonder Woman). She kept her big dark glasses on the whole time and tried to pretend I wasn't sitting next to her. I obliged by pretending she didn't exist either. I think that annoyed her even more.

I worked at the Westin Hotel in Seattle from 2000 to 2007. I saw a few celebs. I retrieved Bill Nye the Science Guy's bike helmet from our baggage area and he tipped me a dollar, I listened to Reggie Jackson (old baseball player) tell a younger player"back in my day..." stuff, I met the Black Eyed Peas minus Fergie (just before they got huge), checked in Jared the Subway guy and he seemed embarrassed that I recognized him, saw Frankie Muniz and blurted out "I love Malcom in the Middle!", and my favorite: Derek Jeter was checking in at the height of his career and my coworker was checking him in. She asked him to spell his name and he seemed dumbfounded that anyone wouldn't know how to spell it.

When I lived in NYC, my sister was coming into La Guardia airport on a late flight. I was waiting in the arrivals area, and realized that the man reading the paper across from me was Wallace Shawn. My sisters and I LOVE The Princess Bride, and quote it to each other all the time. So when sis arrived, I gave her a hug and told her to look over to her left but be cool. She looks over, then looks back at me, her face lit up with astonishment and delight, and whispers, "INCONCEIVABLE!" :)

I was at a Whole Foods a few years ago in Wilmington, NC right around Thanksgiving. I went to the dairy section to see Orlando Jones getting Kite Hill Cream cheese out of the case. He was pretending to talk on his phone. I ended up behind him in line. I pointed to the Kite Hill and said "That stuff is amazing." He paused for a second, smiled and said "It is....." He paid for his cream cheese and went on his way. Later on the next year, I met Karla Crome in the bakery area of the same Whole Foods and we talked about vegan pastries. I told her where to find the best ones in town. She thanked me and I got a picture with her out in the parking lot. Very sweet person.

When I was at school, I worked at a supermarket near one of the Queen’s homes. I served Prince William and Harry without realising, the adult that was with them was so beautiful, I was completely distracted chatting to him, and even thought, oh that child looks like Prince Harry. But just as well as I was completely natural as I’m sure I wouldn’t have been if I had realised, as I was only 17. Everyone came rushing up to me afterwards asking me if I realised who that was - oops!

Mark Wood. I think he founded the trans-siberian orchestra (not sure if that's right though) and invented a type of electric violin He came to my school and taught us how to play eleanor rigby on our instruments.

Early 80ies. George Takei, Star Trek's Sulu, was waiting for his flight to board. A guy went up to him and told him that his wife was his greatest fan and asked for an autograph. Just before Takei signed his name, the guy added that his wife never missed an episode of Quincy M.E. Takei quickly signed "Robert Ito" (who played Quincy's colleague)! He later said, he didn't want to disappoint the man.

My husband has met several celebs (I’m jealous, I’ve never met any), and a few months ago Jeff Dunham was performing in our area. My family and I went to pick him up from work one night, and the first thing he says as he gets in the car was “so I met Jeff Dunham tonight!” He’s also met Post Malone when Posty stopped by his work for something to eat. I’m especially mad about that one because my husband invited me to go to work with him that night but I didn’t because I was tired. So I missed out on meeting Post Malone.

The one time I was in L.A. I was headed to Malibu. Sitting at a red light, I noticed a man staring at me. Sort of creeped me out, so I looked away. When I looked back, I saw it was Larry Hagman and he tipped his Stetson in my direction and smiled. Too bad I was/am shy... :^)

I met Hugh Jackman….didn’t even ask for the photo. He saw me trying to swipe up for my camera and he took the phone and said, “would you like a picture?” And the camera was flipped and so I said I needed to change it…he started laughing and said, “don’t worry, I’ve done this a few times” sooooo incredibly nice.

There's a very well known human rights barrister in Australia who tells the story of when he was at a summit in Canberra (Australia's capital) and he ran into an actor who had portrayed him in a recent TV series. The actor introduced the barrister to the guy with him and they all started a conversation. Comes a time in the conversation when the barrister wanted to mention his friends companion by name, but he'd forgotten it. Leans forward and asks 'sorry, can you remind me of your name?' 'Hugh. Jackman' came the reply. Apparently the barrister received a fair bit of stick from friends and family for that one!

Ages ago, Toronto nightclub, leaving at closing. Catherine O'Hara also exiting, one guy per arm. I say, I love your work! She replies, These are my cousins! Another night, playing pool (terribly), I shuffle around the tsble to get a shot but notice guy at next table lining up a shot, so I stop so as not to disrupt his effort. But he's such a gent, he stops and insists I walk on, he can wait. Beams charisma, Keefer Sutherland. Comedy club, amateur night, woman behind me heckling all the stand ups. Annoying. Then the mc introduces big guest to the stage, the woman behind me, Roseanne Barr.

I wonder how many of these sightings were just normal people who look kind of like celebrities. My only proper celebrity sighting involves someone none of you will have heard of based on the comments but involved her having a bad attitude thinking she was going to get mobbed by a toddler who was actually just excited because she had Mickey Mouse on her shirt. I've met/had conversations with a bunch of celebs over the years. Lead singer from Glass Tiger-Alan Frew Super model and now ex wife of Rod Stewart, Rachel Hunter. She's STUNNING, polite and actually pretty shy in real life. Although we were in a HUGE line up for a timmies bathroom up in Muskoka country(canada). She left me go ahead of her and I tried to convince her it was fine. She was clearly aware people began to recognize her. I've met 2 sisters from The New kids on the block-when everyone was crazy for them. Multi millionaires Nick Sarnicola, his then wife Ashley(had breakfast with them and they were in the hotel suite beside mine. Lovely people. Multi millionaire Blake Mellan. I broke the heal of my boot and he thought I said I had broken my ankle and started panicking and grabbing a chair and helping me sit down lol. Ryan Blair-gangster to multi millionaire. He was so sweet with me(and flirty). Met and had many conversations with him. Lots more but it of room to type :)
