Who needs Alice In Wonderland when we have Mother Nature? As crazy as it sounds, there are too many mind-boggling things happening just outside the comfort of your home. Like, did you know that... goats have accents and owls don't have eyeballs? Nature has surely been generous with throwing its weird gifts at us to think about.
And often, you don’t need to go far to realize there’s a bunch of (mildly) interesting stuff happening right at your doorstep. From an odd tree that has a single branch of an apple tree to a frog so tiny, your fingernail looks like Everest in comparison, these are some of the most amusing examples spotted by people and shared in the Reddit community r/mildlyinteresting.
Whether it’s mildly or overwhelmingly interesting remains a subject of debate, but one cannot argue just how crazy nature can be.

A Rare Desert Bloom In The Atacama Desert In Chile
It always amazes me how a dry brown landscape like a desert can bloom in such beautiful bright and varied colors.
they can grow for a very short period after a particularly humid winter and is a very rare phenomenon, so when you get rain in that specific zone you can expect this to happen, so there are a lot of tourists and photographers also you can't damage the flowers since they are protected and most of them are rare species that only grow there, the zone is also secured to prevent people from disturbing the seeds after they bloom, I only saw it once and is a majestic view

This Icy Bird Umbrella
Remember the days when you were a kid playing in the back yard, never ready to come home for dinner? It’s because spending time in nature was an adventure most of us were already ready to take on. From finding odd colorful bugs hiding in the greenery to catching your first fish in the neighbor’s pond, these were the moments full of excitement that you may still carry to this day.
But these days, Americans are spending less and less time outdoors. A 2019 Outdoor Foundation study showed that nearly half of the US population doesn’t participate in any outdoor recreation at all, and only 17.9 percent got out at least once a week in 2018. As a result, there have been one billion fewer hikes, climbs, rides, and outdoor excursions than a decade ago.
Albino Deer I Spotted Walking Into Work Last Week
If this is not a majestic deer goddess of sunshine, I'm a goose. I mean, LOOK at that rainbow.

This Shadow From Two Different Trees In My Parking Lot
I'm wondering if this is by design though?its clearly floodlight at the required angle for the effect...still brilliant though.
When this was posted on Reddit, they advised that this is actually not a shadow at all...it is an art piece painted to look like a shadow. If you look to the lower, far right of the building, you can see an ACTUAL shadow on the brick wall from a tree in the lot. Looks quite different than the green one....
Load More Replies...That would look perfect on my sons bedroom wall (woodland theme).
Uhm no? the one in color is painted on and the living tree is casting the shadow on the painting, I think. Shadows are only in shades of black.
A similar Yale study from 2017 suggested that the lure of technology and places people work, live, and go to school “do not encourage contact with the natural world," and "myriad competing priorities and activities push experiences in nature to the side.”
“In particular,” the report said, “older adults were concerned that younger generations are overly reliant on electronic media, unaware of how the natural world works, and unacquainted with the simple enjoyment of being outdoors.”
Here at Bored Panda, we hope that showing the little wonders nature can bring us will bring back everyone's interest in going outdoors and spending some time in the sunshine. Not only does it help to boost your immune system, lift your mood, and make you more active, it also gives you the sense of curiosity we all had in childhood and lost somewhere in our hectic schedules.

This Red Only Rainbow I Saw At Midnight In Finland
When the sun is very low in the sky (e.g. at midnight in high-latitude summer), its light has to pass through a lot of atmosphere because it comes in at an angle. The shorter wavelength light such as blues and greens have had to pass through so much atmosphere that they get scattered. Longer wavelength light has the greatest chance of making it through the atmosphere without scattering. So here you see a rainbow that overwhelmingly red-light as its source. It's the same reason that the sun goes read at sunset.
But god obviously found a workaround for these effing printers that say “You wanna print black? Sorry, can't do, yellow ink is empty.“

So weird when things like this happen. We live in the countryside in Wiltshire, UK. And it’s a solid blue state now, with expanded Medicaid and police reform, decriminalization and lots of tax money to spend. They have more diversity than most places, lots of American history, and a shrinking redneck / rural population. Go VA!
