People Are Sharing The Most Unflattering Pics Of Their Pets And It’s Hilarious (30 Pics)
Everyone thinks that their pet is always the cutest - but not the people on this Twitter thread. Anyone who has a pet or knows someone who has a pet knows that owners love to show off their animal children. Whether this means shoving their phone in your face to ask "aren't they sooo cute?!" or the more subtle setting their background screen as an adorable photo of their critter - they want to share their critter with the world.
In the digital age of always putting your most photogenic shots out there, Twitter user Baby_b0nes decided to switch things up by asking her followers to share the" least flattering" photos of their pets and boy did they deliver. According to research, it is likely that the culture of keeping pets began thousands of years ago, with our human ancestors capturing young wolves and domesticating them. The reason for adopting these furry predators was probably not for their cute faces, but because they were useful for hunting. Over time, these wolves evolved into a tamer species - dogs. According to a study published in May 2015, this evolution could have been as early as 27,000 years ago. So if we no longer hunt, why keep pets around now?

John Bradshaw of Bristol University's School of Veterinary Sciences in the UK proposed another pet-culture evolution theory that doesn't hold up so much in the present day, which is that it gave women an opportunity to show that they were good and capable of caring for a helpless mammal. This practice suggested care-giving qualities and demonstrated and nurtured empathetic behavior, said Bradshaw to the BBC.

Taking care of an animal can be extremely costly, as any pet owner might tell you. Due to cost, other theories suggest that owning a pet is a sign of a person's wealth. In order to properly care for an animal, one needs the resources to take care of themselves and the pet. "There's a lot of history and culture with how we chose to express this desire to look after animals, but basically it is a human instinct that used to be an honest signal of the ability to look after animals," said Bradshaw.

You want to see a bird that is out of control. Search "Pebbles, the Cockatoo" She has been in 20 homes in 10 years because of her language and tantrums. Poor girl was first owned by some drug ring where they also had prostitutes. Not her fault that she had a bad childhood. Now one very nice, patient man, is trying to get Pebbles to act like a lady, but it is not an easy job. It actually is hysterically funny to see where rant and rave, pace back and forth, throw her head back when she doesn't want to do something that is requested of her. If you google it, do not have small children around! LOL!

Love this little feathered friend! What species of parrot is it? I have never actually seen a solid bright yellow bird with an orange beak before. She is absolutely beautiful, and quite a charmer!

Because humans are a social species, he states that we are constantly seeking relationships not just with other humans but with our pets as well. "Humans which lack social support are more vulnerable to disease and infection."

Beautiful dog, but he doesn't look like the dog that sees a man hit his mistress and he is just about ready to tear him limb from limb. That, btw, is not a bad thing!
We might think of owning pets as the norm but as Harold Herzog of Western Carolina University states, "We keep pets because other people do because it is "socially contagious," Herzog told an audience at the annual convention for the Association for Psychological Science in New York. "We do have these general predispositions to be attracted to animate things - we have predispositions to find puppies and kittens cute, but that puppy that is so cute in the US can be perceived as a meal in [South] Korea, so what's going on there?"
