They can be opened ever so slightly so that fresh air can enter in case your brother is gassy. Best of all, it provides us with a glimpse into what life is like outside the box of an apartment. Life we can’t help but admire.

Omgaw, even though they are destructive little guys, they're so adorable.
While this incarnation doesn’t deal with a particular source of view admirers and their content, there’s definitely a handful of places to seek out dedicated views through the window.
And those places can be quite numerous. One of the original view appreciation groups on Facebook has a community of 2.1 million members. So, yeah, it’s a big deal.

I have breakfast every morning with two of these :) Recommend that OP hangs a hanging plant box or something like that with healthier choices or that he varies what he gives them. Problem is, if they like the bread they will drop healthier choices in hopes that he will hand out bread after all. They are extremely clever. Or he could bake a healthy bird bread , recipes can be found online.

In the most general sense, having a visually appealing environment means having a visually obvious bump in property value.
Potential buyers might have sentimental or emotional ties with certain areas or natural archetypes that might just sway them into buying it without needing to actually sell it to them. As such, it can justify the increased price tag.

However, a view does not equal another view and views can differ wildly. Among them, the likes of coastal properties, hillside homes and houses overlooking bodies of water (e.g. lakes or rivers) are often in high demand. If not for the beauty, then for the peace and quiet that often comes with it. And since there aren’t that many properties with such… properties, then the price grows exponentially higher.

However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and to some city skylines are just as good. So, how much in demand are views among people? The PurpleBricks estate agency suggests that 4 of 5 people (82%) would be willing to throw in an extra $88,000 for a property that would include a view. So, long story short, a view is worth nearly $90K.
But we’re not done yet.
For those who don’t see money as an obstacle, 1 in 10 of them would gladly pay upwards of $250,000 for a dream view. That’s actually enough to buy a proper home in some states.

Now, that is beautiful! Vultures ... don't deserve how humans portray them. Never got that sense of the oh-so-despicable scavengers, while predators are considered somewhat majestic even. Now, they just do the killing that scavengers, usually, skip because someone died anyway, and ... they take great care of not having the woods smell like an out-of-business slaughterhouse with the cleaners never having arrived. And I generally have a heart for animals considered icky and yikesy, because we really have no authority to even state that, let alone act based on it.
And there’s also a gender bias involved in it. On average, men were willing to spend around $95,100 for a property with a dream view whereas women maxed out at nearly $89,000. So, an average of $6,000 difference.
The lowest folks went with paying extra for a view roughly $6,300 (15% of potential buyers) and nearly a fifth (18%) said they wouldn’t pay anything extra for it.

Good on you. I take in strays, they make the best pets. I've also tamed two feral cats which took nearly 3 years of me feeding them daily before they'd even let me touch them, but they became the sweetest pets ever.

One stray in my neighborhood loves me, but their buddy is still skeptical even after 3 years of feeding. It's gets so close to me and rolls onto us back to show it's belly, then runs away if I move closer. I'm ok with the current arrangement but it makes me sad that it mistrusts people so much even though I've been nothing but nice to it. What happened to you my fluffy friend?!

I have a toad that likes to hang out in my window well. I ended up buying him a house and a tiny pond. He bangs on the window to get my attention and I feed him dried meal worms. He comes back every year once it gets warm. Sometimes he just sits there and stares in the window like he's hoping to come in. :)

While houses are more than just bricks and mortar with a view, each sees something for themselves in it—whether it’s the tranquility of the solitude of a location, or the ability to see the waves crash in the distance. The view is a personal thing, and so there is no objective number one could place on the price tag. It’s the buyer who determines how much all of this is worth to them. But in most cases, it’s worth a lot.

Where I live, long roads are made to be wavy instead of straight because it increases the concentration that the drivers need and makes them less likely to fall asleep at the wheel. Other techniques used are trivia questions on signs and rumble strips that make music.

Lady Bird Johnson pushed for the Highway Beautification Act that passed in 1965. Can still see the blankets of wildflowers along routes all over the US. Snake Road was one of the unfortunate results.

Happened once when I was on the bus. Pigeon was sitting in our lane, and when the bus came close it flew off into the other lane. Unfortunately there was another bus coming, so it turned right around and hit our window. Don´t remember what happened after that, though, as it was like 25 years ago...

This happens when they want to demolish an old building but its listed. Usually the requirement is to keep at least the front facade of the building and restore it to how it was originally built, and you can do the rest as you want. In this case they literally built a new wall behind the original I guess.

Lichthof in German, but in Hungary we use the same word. Quite common in old buildings, especially bathrooms and such to provide light and ventilation. The idea was to provide a chimney-like system where multiple houses were using the same long and narrow tunnel for this purpose.

Yeah, that looks like an oubliette to me. Still, I'd welcome something like this in my "landlocked" only bathroom. It would be a much better use of space than the vent that does nothing but make a terrible noise when "on" and allows me to hear my upstairs neighbours in their bathroom (or occasionally a pigeon cooing on the roof three floors up) when "off."

A French jet that tracked a Jet2 aircraft flying from Spain to the U.K.. It’s possible that that pilots of the Jet2 didn’t immediately respond to contact so the jet was sent up to shadow them as a precaution. Normally no one (apart from the pilots) notices and the airline gets a strongly worded reminder that they shouldn’t repeat it. Equally the various air forces around the world get to check their readiness so I guess it’s good that they respond.
