With countless occupations and professions people do in this world, it’s easy not to know much about how a day at work looks for everyone else except you.
In that sense, we know very little about what doctors, journalists, firefighters, truck drivers and all the others really do while on duty.
So Bored Panda created this list of pictures that show the invisible side of different jobs we don’t get to see often, if ever. The photos from on duty speak stories without any words, so pull your seat closer and enjoy the ride!

A Dog I Knew In My Last Job. My Job Was To Receive And Redistribute Things Like Food, Medication, Clothing, Blankets And Toys To People Who Need It
"The absolute perfect job probably doesn’t exist," Christine Mitterbauer, a licensed and ICF-approved career coach and serial entrepreneur, told Bored Panda in an interview. Having said that, she believes that it’s possible to get a job that is 90% perfect.
"Where most people go wrong, however, is by thinking they can achieve this in a few months, whereas especially if they’re looking for a career change, you need to think long-term and be willing to work hard to achieve this," Christine explained.
She added that even in a fantastic job, there will be bad days or even weeks. "So you always need to keep the big picture in mind, as well as get clarity on what work values are most important to you."
Sometimes Working Night Shifts Has Rewards

We also wondered why our society puts so much importance on careers while we know that it leads to burnouts or our lives being put on hold.
Christine explained that it’s maybe because for decades, people did work just to survive: “after wars and economic downturns, people are happy to have a job that puts food on the table.” But as things have improved, she argues, “people expect more from their job than simply a pay check, you could say it’s a result of how well we’re doing overall.”

In fact, “You could argue that some people now expect too much from their jobs (aka happiness and fulfillment), and they might be wise in considering whether they could achieve more happiness and fulfillment from other parts of their lives too.”
The main signs that a person is happy at work can come down to asking yourself these questions, according to Christine. “Are you able to switch off over the weekend and not think of work? Do you even look forward to Monday morning? Do you feel work is getting the best out of you?”
What makes someone happy at work is very individual, Christine said, but often a mix of being stimulated, supported, rewarded, and having great colleagues and bosses.

If there’s anything the worldwide pandemic taught us, it's rethinking our priorities and values in life, including our work and life balance. Many employees switched to partially or fully remote work, while others quit en masse, which caused the Great Resignation.
In a previous interview with Bored Panda, Dr. Gleb Tsipursky, the best-selling author and CEO of Disaster Avoidance Experts, explained that the Great Resignation is a phenomenon that began in 2021, where a large number of people across various industries and countries decided to voluntarily leave their jobs.
“This mass exodus from the workforce was primarily driven by a combination of factors, including the COVID-19 pandemic, changing work-life balance expectations, and increased demand for higher wages and better working conditions.”
I Work At A Funeral Home And During A Service Today, Bumped Into An Old Painter
I grew up with his show. I still watch his old episodes from time to time. It just makes me happy.
Bob Ross, a man who brought happiness and acceptance of our art skills, no matter how small our skill was.
I love how Bob Ross is known and loved across generations and countries. His painting shows and kind messages brought and still bring happinesses to many people.
Crazy that someone so well known has such an unassuming memorial. Seems fitting with his kind, laid back personality. ❤️
His mother & father are just a couple of markers away 🥰

I visited his former studio near the campus of Ball State University in Indiana last year. They had dozens of his original paintings on display!
If you're ever here in Central Florida, look up Woodlawn Cemetery in Gotha . It's a small town, and you need to use the GPS to find the grave. It's about 20-30 minutes from Disney.
Load More Replies...I’m always curious if he knew how much he was liked and respected - I have absolutely never heard anyone say anything negative about him in any capacity - he was truly a good man whose mere existence made a huge impact on others lives and that’s rare.
I'm happy to see the sweet mementos people still leave after all this time.
I could watch Bob Ross all day he was such a great artist and also so calming with his tone and demeanour, unlike some presenters these days.
First time I ever saw his show I was in labor with my daughter. I couldn't figure out what he was really about. My daughter is now an artist.
To all Rossites out there,(I am one too) may our leader rest in the peace, he deserves!
He's still on Netflix (I think - might be Amazon). Whenever I feel really stressed a few episodes of his show calms me right down.
I enjoyed his show and the sound of his voice. I was encouraged to paint. Any thing can be painted on.
Look at all those little, loving memorial gifts. I'd rather be remembered and loved like that than have all the riches in the world.
He made a lot of people happy and inspired many young and old to give painting a try
Bob Ross's TV show helped me learn how to paint. May he rest in peace.
My 6 year old grandson watched an episode with my daughter a year ago and asks to watch more now and he's been teaching himself to paint "happy little accidents." Thank you Bob Ross, you continue to inspire .
I don't paint but I will watch this man for hours just to listen to him. RIP Bob Ross.
Used to love to watch him. Even if you didn’t paint with him,his whole persona was so calming. We miss Bob.
I thought he was still alive? He has a twitch channel and streams sometimes. Maybe it's someone playing old episodes? Rip what a legend
That is blown way out of proportion, and taken out of his intended context. That context being the 1957 novel (and 1959 motion picture) The Hanging Tree, filmed in the Oak Creek Wildlife Area outside of Yakima Washington.

The pandemic prompted many workers to reevaluate their priorities, leading them to seek out more fulfilling and flexible work opportunities. Additionally, government stimulus packages and unemployment benefits provided a safety net for some people, enabling them to take time to reconsider their career paths.

My dad was a firefighter. The job destroys you. You either die young or retire on disability. No one makes it out healthy.
You seem, in your boredom, to be fascinated by cats, men who get dirty working, and freezing temperatures.
