A Year Ago I Was Hospitalized For A Failed Suicide Attempt, I Decided Then, That I Wanted To Be Healthier And Happier; This Is What A Year Of Therapy And Proper Medication Can Do. Don’t Give Up

Load More Replies...I just started attending Depressed Anonymous meetings online. I'm not sure yet if it's for me, so I just listen with my camera off. It's good to hear others who are struggling like I am, and some who are doing better. Never give up.
As a person who has experienced major depressive episodes, just keep going and do what you need to do to get through each day (for me it was racking up credit card debt sitting at a french bakery every day, but hey - I'm alive, healthy, and now I've paid off that debt).

I'm reminded of when my daughter came home from elementary school sharing the phrase she just learned, proudly exclaiming "Yippee Ki Yay" at which point my heart stopped beating. It took several long eternities for my brain to register that she'd stopped speaking and the second part of that (a la Die Hard) wasn't coming.
Despite having millions and millions of members, the subreddit still maintains some of the core tenets that they had when it was still founded. The moderator team is purposefully left as a small group of professionals who focus on data visualization as some part of their careers and lives. That passion for data translates into passion for the r/DataIsBeautiful community.
What’s more, the subreddit treats its original content creators as “first-class citizens,” constantly engaging them, and making sure they’re credited and acknowledged for their work (as all creators should be!).
“We bring a data-centric view of the world to millions of people every day—from important information about the COVID-19 pandemic all the way to a random dude's daily bowel movements—and our community prides itself in that fact. For example, we had community members posting analyses and projections of COVID-19 trends back in January and February 2020—well before anyone in the U.S. was taking the pandemic seriously. /r/DataIsBeautiful is THE place to go when you want to see the signal through the noise of hectic daily life,” one of the moderators explained why the community is so loved and popular.
People Killed In Terrorist Attacks In 2017: Europe (Blue) vs. Africa (Red)
6 people dead in the USA = World news.... 200+ school children kidnapped from a school every other week in nigeria and it's hardly a blip in the news. I wonder if people know that there have been 4 mass kidnapping in nigeria this year alone... at one school, they took 317 girls
Things that happen every day don't make the news, because, in fact, it's nothing new, no matter how horrible the situation. But I do agree these things need to be addressed more and be taken care of. Change takes time, though. In the meantime, innocent people have to suffer.... u.u
Load More Replies...We live mostly within our own cocoons. It is painful and scary and sometimes futile to look outside. If we look at the news around the world, we are all at once overwhelmed and feeling small against the tidal waves of violence, ignorance, and waste. Thank you for opening some eyes.
If you add Asia as well it'll further increase the red ones yet our people never get mourned or have hashtags made for them. We're only mentioned when Americans want to refer to us as backward and inferior to them yet we've lost more lives due to terrorism than the US and Europe combined.
Asia would need a separate color though. Besides, that doesn’t change this chart and statistically Africa is still more dangerous.
Load More Replies...I remember the world having a fit at the bombings in Paris against that cartoon company, the same week 87 girls were taken by the Boko Haram, they still haven't been rescued because nato didn't want to risk their lives saving a bunch of school girls. To this day they know their locations and won't lift a finger to help.
Media is driven by agenda not statistics. It is why Americans could care less about the 6000 blacks being murdered every year but are willing to protest for a few killed by police.
I get wrong vibes from this one,a victim is a victim.I get it that news will cover Europe more than Africa but still...
To be honest, being an European myself, I'm more interested in attacks in Europe than in those in Africa - it's just more relatable. Also, Europe, at least when it comes to its western and central part, generally has stable situation - no war, no bigger conflicts. At the same time quite a big part of Africa suffers from bigger or smaller armed conflicts. Given this situation, of course attacks and victims in Europe are more covered in media, because they're less expected, therefore more shocking for general TV viewer. .
Naturally, for the same reasons, I take more interest in what happens in Europe as well. However, when I realise how Africa isn't very far from Europe, these things start worrying me too. Specifically, I'm talking about the Mediterranean.
Load More Replies...I Finished My Year Long Temperature Blanket!
I think the left is the day temperatures and the right is the night temperatures and each line represents a day. The curve is the difference between daylight hours.
Load More Replies...Temperature blankets can be quilted or crocheted. Each quilt block or crocheted line represents one day typically. You do a block/line each day for a year. At the beginning you assign a color for each temperature range. For example say 30°-35° is peacock blue, and 36°-40° degrees is ice blue, ect. Some people actually do the block/line on the day and so do a block/line for everyday for an entire year and some pick a year and use weather data. I quilted one for my husband years ago for the temperatures of our first year of marriage. Depending on your region they can turn our very beautiful!
I the color used reflects daily high and low, and the wavy line down middle reflects how much sun/ daytime.
Load More Replies...The amount of posts and comments that the mods of r/DataIsBeautiful have to deal with is absolutely staggering. I’m not exaggerating when I say that my jaw dropped when I heard about it. The subreddit gets roughly 400-500 submissions each week and has had 2,370 approvals, removals, and spam posts over the last month alone.
Meanwhile, the number of comments they get is beyond counting, but the mods estimate that the number ranges in the tens of thousands and might even be as high as over a hundred thousand.
President Trump False Or Misleading Claims While In Office
He’s a freaking idiot and he’s brainwashed half of the country
Load More Replies...I’m reminded of a joke. “A man dies and goes to heaven. When he arrives, St. Peter gives him a tour and the man sees a bunch of clocks on the walls, labeled with names. ‘What are these?’ the man inquires of St. Peter. ‘Oh, these are our lie clocks. The clocks move every time their respective person tells a lie. So, this clock, Abraham Lincoln’s, shows that he lied twice in his life, and this clock, Mother Teresa’s, shows that she never lied.’ ‘Well, now I’m curious. Where is Donald Trump’s lie clock?’ ‘Oh, that’s in Jesus’ office. He’s using it as a ceiling fan.’”
Good one, apart from the Mother Theresa bit. She was definitely a liar.
Load More Replies...It's not just that he lies more than any other politician in the history of the human race; its that so many of his lies are so obviously lies and so easily discredited, and that people still voted for him! That is the biggest indicator that the human race is going to annihilate itself and go extinct.
But now you gotta compare other presidents to this. I'm curious to see the difference.

Redditor NotABotStill has been a moderator at r/DataIsBeautiful for two years and revealed to Bored Panda that the mod team is global, with members living in the EU, US, and APAC, so that they can cover all the time zones.
The level of professionalism that they have is pleasantly surprising. However, that makes sense once you realize that they’re actually all professionals in their personal lives and are a very close-knit group who regularly communicate. You can expect this level of dedication from people running a successful company.
“We certainly refine the rules over time. For example, we no longer allow YouTube videos as it was being abused by content creators looking for subs on their channel. We also occasionally temporarily prohibit specific subjects, like Tinder or dating posts, when a topic overwhelms the subreddit although dating posts are allowed again,” moderator NotABotStill explained.
What Percent Of Social Media Content Are Ads?
I feel like Youtube nowadays is 99% ads. "Your video will play after ad" - Nope! More like ""Your video will play in between these 26 obnoxiously annoying ads that make me hate your product for constantly ruining my viewing"!
Yeah and I feel like this fails to show that, facebook ads might be something you scroll past and not even notice it, whereas youtube ads literally take over the screen forcing you to watch for a long duration
Load More Replies...Funny thing is, when most people get ads, the ad makes them not want the product
The ads are really repulsive honestly. Especially on YouTube. They are not represented in a way that's appealing, they are disruptive and they are preventing you from watching something important, like, even some first aid tutorials have ads in the beginning like wtf?! I never understand the brands paying for YouTube ads unless it's a brand that's specifically related to the content. It repels me so much that even if I needed that exact product, I'd go for another brand.
I Ran A Quick Poll Last Week On Digital Transformation
And you would not believe, 20 years into the 21st Century, just how many of them were totally unprepared for it. Files still all paper and not digitized, so inaccessible from home, phone systems not set up to forward calls to home numbers, and company internet/intranet not set up to be accessible from home. Then you get management freaking out because they can’t physically micromanage you, so they weigh you down with time-wasting Zoom meetings, and hundreds of redundant emails (every manager sending an email about the same damn thing, and insisting you reply within 10 minutes—-instead of getting themselves together and sending one email you can send to them all), to the point where you can’t get actual “heads down” work done, then fuss at you with more emails and Zoom meetings, because it isn’t done. You end up working long past 5pm to get that work caught up because management is finally off their f*****g computers and letting you alone for the first time that day.

In my profession, we all went from unhappily commuting to happily working at home and we all feel guilty that covid-19 dropped this fat gift for us.
Yup, all those things they 'couldn't do' that 'weren't practical' and would 'cost too much' happened nearly overnight with the simple use of Apps and existing WiFi connections from home. The amount saved on office overhead would pay for this ten times over (NB even just heating and lighting)
Would be nice if it were to create a more inclusive company for disabled workers
The company I work for said they didn't had enought infraestructure to gave us one day of home office. Covid hit and in one week they where able to put all their +400 employees a VPN to be able to work at home 🤭🤭🤭🤭
“We also only allow personal posts (posts about the poster such as miles jogged over a year as an example) on Mondays which I believe we instituted during my tenure. That's just a flavor of the types of rules we add, adjust, or remove over time. Rule changes are done by consensus of the mods and we will often spend days or weeks deciding on new rules and how to word them,” they said that they’re always moving towards perfection, with a lot of time spent on making the subreddit better and better.
The moderators manually approve or remove each and every post, but they mostly rely on their fellow redditors to report posts and comments that violate their rules of conduct. They also use AutoMod to help move the process along. Posts that go against the rules end up being automatically removed, so the mods can spend more time on important issues rather than chores.
Searches For International Men's Day Peak Every International Women's Day
And insert the whiny men comments. They didn’t even fail to disappoint 😂
Load More Replies...A bit sad, honestly. Imagine everyone knew it's your birthday, but they were just too invested looking forward to the birthday of that other person carrying a name similar to yours.
The funny thing is that this clearly shows that men (yes I'm generalising!) only care about International Men's Day on International Women's Day. For balance I'd like to see the searches for International Siblings Day and International Son and Daughter Day.
Doesn’t surprise me coz International women’s day is talked about much more than international men’s day. I even just had to google if there was indeed an actual international men’s day. For anyone interested it is on November the 19th.
I thought 'Men's Day' was a stupid idea really just instigated by the 'usual suspects' and, to be fair, I was right. Luckily it's been 'hijacked' by the right people. Now it's about much neglected areas of men's health like prostate and testicular cancer and mental health. It's NOT the same as Women's Day, and that is good..
funny how the biggest peaks happened in the rise and reign of Trump.
Oh look I just found it! turns out it's everyday that isn't international women's day.
International Women's Day- March 8; International Men's Day- November 19th; International Non-binary People's Day- July 14
I’m so freaking glad non-binary day exists.
Load More Replies...Trump Voters Are Less Likely To Have A College Degree
Exactly, we knew this already, but it's nice to see the proof!
Load More Replies...I think the correlation is more about greater exposure to more progressive thought, diversity, and macro / global worldview through the experience of attending colleges and universities that result in graduates tending to lean towards progressive and liberal political views. Intelligence has nothing to do with education, but education has everything to do with combating ignorance and myopic thinking.
I eant to point out: LESS likely does not mean "stupid", just "less educated" and less *likely*. Not "you are stupid" or "you are smart".
Obligatory "I didn't vote for Trump in either election, but I'm a centrist so I'm going to address your post" Is this a comment about class? Are we implying that having a college degree is a measure of intelligence or worth? Perhaps we should establish that
I wouldn't say that, personally. I know plenty of people who are smart without having gone through higher education, and also people with a college degree who lack critical thinking skills. It's often more a question of personal priorities. One example: mining is simply on its way out, which is bad news for miners. Republicans promised to help them, so that's who they vote for. Doesn't mean they're stupid, just that they're scared. Another example: Crippling student debt is a big deal for many with a college degree, Democrats promised to help them, so that's who they vote for. Doesn't mean they're smart, just scared. There are of course many, many, many more factors.
Load More Replies...Aren't Trump supporters accused of being rich? If all of the educated people are on the other side wouldn't that make that premise inaccurate? Are we being elitist and dismissive of the working class? What does that say about minority voters?

Load More Replies...True, however the same is true about Obama vs. McCain, but if it was posted it'd be racist to assume the correlation.
“Most posts are visible immediately, however, we also utilize AutoMod to ‘filter’ out posts that likely violate a rule. Speaking of AutoMod, we heavily rely on it to filter, or make invisible, both posts and comments based on keywords, user karma, and URL links (to name a few) which then have to be manually approved before they are visible. We also utilize it to automatically remove posts that violate our rules (e.g., YouTube links or directly linking an image and not claiming [OC]) so we mods don't even have to see them.”
NotABotStill pointed out to us that popular posts on the subreddit “are often approved multiple times” because they’re reported while some posters end up reposting the images because the AutoMod catches the [OC] error. That means that the number of original monthly posts is probably closer to 1,500 to 2,000, once you do away with the reposts and multiple approvals.

I understand, all too well. Between 2012 and 2019, I went from freshman to Masters degree—-starting at age 51. Worked part time during my undergrad, then as a graduate assistant in grad school. Since graduating I have worked a temp job, then got a full time job, then was exposed to COVID at work, was told I had to still come into the same office where I was exposed to the virus instead of quarantining, so I had to resign. That was April 2020. I have been unemployed since, even though I submit several applications every week, even for jobs I could’ve qualified for before I went back to college. I’ve had some callbacks and a few second interviews, but no offers. Then unemployment stopped paying benefits, decided exposure to the virus at work isn’t a COVID-related job loss, so sent me a bill for all the benefits they paid me, even though they originally said it WAS a COVID-related job loss.. Ever heard the saying “can’t get blood from a turnip”? Believe me, I would much rather be working too.
PS-And what is this s**t about “entry level” jobs requiring 2-5 years direct experience? That’s what the damn entry level job is supposed to give you!

Meanwhile, moderator PHealthy highlighted that the subreddit has had “fairly linear growth” since being founded in 2012. The growth started to slow down in 2017 and 2018, however, the sub is still adding thousands of new members each day. “That said, with the way Reddit works the subscriber count isn't all that important above a certain point which is enough to it r/all and/or the front page. That hits on a topic most of the more serious subreddits face: good content vs popular content.”
PHealthy said that moderating the community is a team effort. However, some mods go “above and beyond and really keep the community moving” where the automated mod tools end up not being enough. “I moderate a few other large communities so I split a lot of my time and try to help with the modqueue as much as I can but really only go after the real egregious offenses like hate speech, racism, personal attacks, etc.”
Two Thousand Years Of Global Temperatures In Twenty Seconds
They mostly deny anthropogenic global warming --- "yeah it's warming but it has warmed before and it's all coincidental nothing to do with us dumping all these greenhouse gases in the sky".
Load More Replies...From original post: "218d I made this visual using R with ggplot and ScreentoGif using data from this 2019 Nature Geoscience study (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6675609/). Raw data is available here: (www.ncdc.noaa.gov/paleo/study/21171). Climate model runs are available here: (http://pcmdi9.llnl.gov/). Outcomes of the study are available here: (https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/paleo/study/26872). The line represents the twenty-year rolling average of yearly temperature deviation from the 1961-1990 average global temperature. Link to a still image of the final frame: (https://imgur.com/a/nTVqfJx) From the paper: “Here, we use seven different statistical methods to reconstruct [global mean surface temperature] over the past 2,000 years. The methods range from a basic composite-plus-scaling (CPS) and regression-based techniques (PCR, M08) frequently used in past reconstructions, to newer linear methods (OIE, BHM) and techniques that account for nonlinear relations between proxy values and temperature (PAI), or combine information from proxy data and climate models (DA). The statistical models draw from a global collection of temperature-sensitive paleoclimate records.” Further, they state: “Agreement on both the timing and amplitude of GMST variability across the reconstruction and simulation ensembles suggests that some aspect of the observed multi-decadal variability is externally forced, principally by changes in the frequency and amplitude of volcanic forcing over the pre-industrial past millennium and anthropogenic GHGs (greenhouse gases) and aerosols thereafter.” The takeaway of this visual is that, yes, climate change does happen naturally due to environmental factors like volcanic forcing. However, the speed with which temperature has increased since the industrial revolution, which is made apparent by this visual, is not reasonably attributable to anything except for the emission of greenhouse gases and aerosols into the atmosphere by humans. If nothing is done very soon and very quickly to sharply reduce or even eliminate GHG emissions, this rapid temperature increase will continue, and keep destabilizing the global climate. Here are some resources for further reading if you’re interested: Greenhouse gases: https://www.livescience.com/37821-greenhouse-gases.html#:~:text=A%20greenhouse%20gas%20is%20any,ultimately%20leads%20to%20global%20warming. Russia, China, Canada, Norway and I think Greenland flies the Danish flag? All mostly red, so Sweden and Finland get drowned out up in the far north.

In PHealthy’s opinion, animated graphs are rarely better than something like a grouped bar graph, even though they certainly draw the eye. “Pies and bars certainly both have their uses but we've all seen the results of tortured dataviz and I think that's where something like the pie chart gets a bad rap.”
Passenger Fatalities Per Billion Passenger Miles
I'd like to see the data for bicyles too, but compared to the data for bicycles of bicycle-friendly countries, like the Netherlands

The moderators of ‘Data is Beautiful’ also went in-depth around what kind of content they consider to be good, what visualizations are popular, and what falls into both categories (if this were a Venn diagram, the latter would be the part where the two circles intersect).
Here are two examples of top posts in the last month that “look good and engage the audience to change over time on a popular subject” right here and here. Meanwhile, images like this one and this one might be popular because of the subject matter and what Redditors prefer, however, they’re “awful” and “difficult to read.”
Finally, here’s an example of great data visualization that, unfortunately, doesn’t do great because the subject matter doesn’t appeal to the audience or it’s too technical.

The ‘Data is Beautiful’ subreddit is about finding the perfect blend of beauty and brains. Or about the best way to present any particular dataset if you look at things from a different perspective. The subreddit is here to share and discuss all the various visual representations of data. From graphs and charts to, yes, even maps!
Another moderator who’s had 7 years of experience working with r/DataIsBeautiful explained that “back in the early days,” they were a niche community focused on attracting data visualization researchers and professionals. With the occasional enthusiast dropping by, too, of course! Eventually, with the growth of the community thanks in large part to a cordial relationship with the Reddit administrators, the subreddit grew to encompass a much broader range of members.

Public Opinion Of Same-Sex Relations In The United States
I get the logic behind "never wrong" and "always wrong", but what's the possible explanation for "sometimes wrong"? Like Wednesdays and Fridays?
as a bisexual, it makes me happy that that the green and red lines have crossed
Love is love. Always has been. Always will be. God I can't even imagine how hard it must have been to keep their relationships hidden during the earlier days. Glad things are changing (even if it's still slow) for the better.
I'm glad the majority has come round. I was brought up in a house where my parents were generally against, although not outspoken about, same sex relationships. I never had a reason to 'disagree' with them purely because I never thought about it. When I did have cause to think about it I realised there was no reason at all to be against someone's sexuality. It really is none of my business anyway and they have every right to love who they love..
Fun fact: I have a T-shirt that says ‘love doesn’t discriminate’ on it. It’s a mix of pride and Hamilton, and the best thing ever.
“Most of our discussions back then focused on critiques and improvements of the data visualizations themselves, a focus that still sits at the core of the community to this day,” the moderator shared what the start of the community was like.
“In February 2012, the Reddit admins and DIB mods agreed to make /r/DataIsBeautiful a default subreddit. That meant that every new Reddit user would automatically be subscribed to DIB and our top content would consistently show up on the Reddit front page. After that point, our community grew extremely fast and continued growing even when the default subreddits were abolished in mid-2017,” they shared one of the reasons why the sub grew as fast and as big as it did.
Us College Tuition & Fees vs. Overall Inflation

When universities have SHAREHOLDERS (sorry, but I have to yell that)... and "stock"... and "investors'.... It's not education, and it is a tragedy, IMO
Load More Replies...You could add another line for value of salary after graduation. Pretty sure someone with a Bachelor’s in the Liberal Arts or Social Sciences in 1980 got a job at least somewhat related to their major after graduation that was actually entry level and paid better (adjusting for inflation) than a comparable job would now, thereby allowing them to pay off their considerably lower student loan debt—-which itself was likely already partly paid off because working part time through college would pay their living expenses and allow them to borrow less. Working full time would allow them to pay for a large chunk of it, so they’d owe even less.
Yes, maybe add a minimum wage buying power line. It would explain a lot
Load More Replies...Education requires a large number of highly trained staff, and cannot be outsourced to overseas factories. So it's natural for the cost to go up. The problem is that in the US, all that cost is passed on to the students rather than being paid for by government.
And unless you went to school for a trade (nursing, plumbing) the odds of finding a job are basically non existent
This is what happens when government largesse removes price pressure. Let's say tuition was once 3 months salary; it's now 12 months!
Just to really p**s of the Americans, lets put up a comparison of every other country!
The States In Blue Have A Combined Total Population Equal To Los Angeles County, In Red
While I think gerrymandering should be abolished, it factors into the results for state legislatures and for the representatives they send to the federal House of Representatives. Those are things that happen within a single state. Gerrymandering is un-democratic (little d for democracy, not talking about the Democratic Party). It skews the districts to manipulate the outcome by effectively burying some people's votes. That is bad. The places where these population differences make a huge impact are in the Senate and the Electoral College. Each state gets 2 Senators (that's a statewide vote, so districts don't matter). So Wyoming with ~600K people gets the same vote as California with ~40M. For Electoral College votes, you get the number of electors equal to your congressional representation. So the minimum is 3. Every state gets 2 Senate votes and at least 1 House vote, no matter the population. So the low population states get more votes per capita than the populous states.
Load More Replies...Why because Los Angeles and California can make the decision as to who is elected President? This is quite the opposite and supporting the electoral college
Load More Replies...This is why voting is such a difficult thing to deal with. Just look at the Scottish Independence vote, The final vote was 51 No vs 49 yes. But when you look at the map attached... Was that a majority by land that wanted to stay or a majority by population? I have no idea how voting districts are drawn in Scotland.
Load More Replies...Overpopulation is not a lack of land area; it's an issue of resource management!
And they have 12 Senators compared to two for the entire STATE of California. The Electoral College MUST go!
It really isn’t just about the pretty pictures, however. Anyone who wants to dig a little deeper and learn a bit more about how to visualize data well can do so. “We provide a handful of guides for folks just learning to create data visualizations, and we require every original content post to include at least a brief description of the data source and how the data visualization was created so folks can learn from that. DIB is a great place to learn the craft of data visualization by doing,” the moderator shared with Bored Panda.

“DataIsBeautiful is for visualizations that effectively convey information. Aesthetics are an important part of information visualization, but pretty pictures are not the sole aim of this subreddit,” the subreddit explains what it’s all about.
Now, pretty graphs might not be the entire story, but they can sure help express data in a way that grabs (and holds!) your attention, so you can understand the data better. Something that’s clear and stunning will help you remember it better. And if you understand something well, you can then use that data in arguments and (socially distanced) dinner parties.

Berlin Subway Map Compared To Its Real Geography
The first transit map made in non-geographical style was the London one, and the map was made by Harry Beck, who was inspired by an electrical circuit for the layout. He decided - correctly - that for people traveling, it was far more useful to be able to clearly see direction and interchanges, along with how many stops were remaining on their journey, than to have a literal correlation with the above-ground geography. What a genius :)
I think that would apply to every subway map in the world. In Munich on every platform their is also a real world map to check it.
Percent Of Air Per Bag Of Chips
Cool graph. But air in chips bags is necessary - it prevents the chips from cracking. I believe that's why the percentage is so high in Cheetos which as a corn puffs are more delicate than potato chips and so low in Pringles where chips lay on top of each other.
Pringles come in a hard can, which is why I think they have less air. It's hard to break Pringles in a large cylinder can.

One thing always bugged me about Blockbuster was they advertised 3-night rentals, but what they considered "3 nights" was what I'd consider a 2-day rental. Always seemed a bit misleading.
I remember it being the opposite day/night - they'd call it 3 day, to of course include the day you got it, which was usually in the evening so there's day 1 already, and it was due on day 3, so only 2 nights.

How Representative Are The Representatives? The Demographics Of The U.S. Congress, Broken Down By Party
Though we know they'd skew older, it's a matter of degrees, I suppose. Constitutionally, you have to be at least 25 to serve in the House and 30 for the Senate. Then there's the fact that very few younger people can impress on the voters that they have the knowledge and experience to serve in Congress. Most get there after holding a string of lower offices building up a track record in public service.

In America, Young Adults Are Now More Likely To Live With Parents Than Spouses
I believe the same may apply to other countries. First of all, many couples decide not to marry, so I believe "spouse" and "partner" should be count together. Also, nowadays people are starting families much later than in the past - that's a good thing in my opinion, because this way they have more time to develop themselves, experiment and in general to "find the most adequate for them way of living". And... unfortunately typical 26-years-old is not able to afford their own house or even apartment, so living with parents sometimes sounds like the most reasonable option, especially when it comes to poorer families.
Yeah. I really hate when people separate spouse and partner and it really happens very often. If you are commited to a person it doesnt matter how you formalised it. Why would a married couple oslf 6 months be a family but not a non married couple of 10 years?
Load More Replies...What if you live with your spouse, who is your partner, at your parents and your sibling is a roommate?
How about including the time before the baby boom. The 50s-70s were the aberration, not today.
the cost of school has risen 1000%, the food, the cost of apartments and houses, cars everything has risen except the salaries. They have staid almost the same. No wonder people stay with their parents longer, they can't afford anything!
I'm divorced and I live with my two younger sons 20/24 and another Roomate 29 in a 2.2 just so we don't all have to be broke. It's so much easier splitting rent and bills with people you already like and get along with and trust. We are so past the days where society gets to decide what's right for someone. This works for us and that's what matters.
Leonardo Dicaprio Refuses To Date A Woman His Age [oc]
Why would I care? Neither is it my life nor am I affected by it. Some people like when their partners are older than them, some prefer younger. Actually, while being in my twenties, I am mostly attracted to men around 40. It seems all of his girlfriends started relationships with him out of their own free will. As long as both sides are okay with this (and they apparently were), who am I to criticize?
The biggest problem here isn't that he likes women younger than him - it's that he ditches them once they are 25, consistently. 18-25 is a REALLY limited age range to be attracted to! It's one thing to prefer partners older/younger than you, and quite another to update to a newer version every couple of years, the way that other people get a new car or smart phone... it suggests that "fresh" is more important than any unique traits of the person.
Load More Replies...Same! And it usually, not always, but usually, a large age gap indicates the older person is at least somewhat controlling; doesn't matter if a woman or man is older. It also usually, not always, but usually indicates issues with insecurity and immaturity in the older person.

Load More Replies...A couple years ago I watched a video on youtube about shipping logistics - managing shipping using long distance methods to major hubs and then distributing to smaller hubs where the trucks dispatch from. It's extremely complicated but I'm not convinced there are any conspiracies to jack up prices - nobody wins with inefficient methods. Unless there was no offloading for some reason during that first trip through Chicago this looks like an error. The amazing part is how efficiently it got corrected.
Not too bad thought. I once had a key which was sent to me from France and ended up in Brasil and arriving in Portugal after 3 months from the original departure in France...
as someone who works with freight and small package carriers, i can say this is not unusual. the package or freight goes to the closest delivering terminal, then may get subbed out to another delivering company, so it goes to their terminal, then it gets to you. or sometimes they accidentally put it on the wrong truck and it goes to Florida before coming back to the right terminal.

The Environmental Impact Of Beyond Meat And A Beef Patty
And if you would compare this to a product that does not mimic meat but still contains much protein (say, chickpeas), the figures would be even more extreme. Free from any food idiology, it must be acknowledged that animal-based products, particularly meat, has much more environmental impact per calorie than produce.
Buuuuuuut, protein in vegetable are less assimilate by our body than the protein in meat... and they are much different kind of protein
Load More Replies...I'll be honest, I'm a carnivore! I don't eat meat for protein or any nutritional purpose. I eat it because I love the taste. That being said, when someone can give me a substitute and I cannot tell the difference in either taste or cost, I will be happy to make the change.
Humans are omnivores so it is perfectly good to eat meat. Although its important to reduce consumption and buy bio meat. But yes, if there is a lab made meat that doesnt involve animals but is the same I will love it.
Load More Replies...We don't all have to become vegetarians to make a difference. Just reducing your meat consumption a little can help. If you eat meat at every meal, try having one meal a day without it. Or one or two days a week without meat. One small change made by millions of people can make a difference.
I’m 13 and made the decision To become vegetarian age 7 randomly no one in my family is vegetarian just me. And it’s not terrible at all it feels good health wise and good for the environment more people should try I it’s not for everyone but you might be surprised how easy it is.
Probably US corn-fed feedlot beef, which is all I ever see analysed. Local grass-fed field beef is much better for the environment, tho there are still some environmental issues and we export too much.
Just secretly replace all the meat in stores with artificial meat and pay all the farmers out of a job and nobody will notice

The problem with relying on donations, is that the donor decides where the money goes, which issues and inequalities get addressed, who gets help. Through higher taxation of the rich and reduction of tax loop holes, the government, i. e. the people, decide where the need lies. In theory. The government should be helping those who are most in need, and doing things that help the most people, like saving the environment. Theory.

A side effect of all these precautions is that they have had less than 100 admissions for influenza this flu season..

This is what's known as the "loudness war". When mastering a recording, dynamic range compression is maximized to produce the loudest possible sound. It became rampant in the 90's. It usually results in LESS dynamic recordings.
... and led to the prjudice that you don't need much dynamic range in Rock and Roll, while it actually does benefit from having said range. The loudness war is an effort to make music sound good on first perception when played through a croaking mobile phone. In every setting but this, the loudness-war's first victim is the music it is fought on.

Tens of thousands of parents who've lost their children, or children who've lost their parents or grandparents, or spouses/significant others who've lost the loves of their lives. Actually, when you consider how many people just one individual is important to, HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of people who are now mourning. Hurting. And it could be prevented, we could STOP it and SAVE people if we look at it THAT way and take it SERIOUSLY and have empathy. Please.
Right. Its like the people that say its only like 2% mortality rate, so that means we dont need to take precautions. That small percentage still died, people had to watch their beloved spouses, friends, and family die. It doesnt matter how small the mortality rate is, people still died. It scary how selfish people can be.
