30 Times Instagrammers Showed The World Their ‘Real’ Bodies, And The Internet Admired Their ‘Sanity’
We all have a friend or two who can’t upload a photo on Instagram or Facebook without first photoshopping it so much that you no longer recognize them. That tells you a lot about how society’s obsession with body image is spurred on by the availability of photo editing technologies. On the other hand, we’ve also got pals who aren’t afraid to show the world their natural beauty and love goofing about.
On the ‘Instagram Reality’ subreddit, you often get examples of people who go overboard with editing photos. But once in a while, you get examples of blissful people who love their bodies with all their (im)perfections, show how even an Instagram influencer can look like a blob if the angle’s slightly wrong, and that there’s nothing wrong with that.
We’ve collected some of the most wholesomely honest pictures from r/Instagramreality, so scroll down, upvote your fave real Instagram photos, and let everyone know in the comments which pics you enjoyed most and why. Be sure to share this list with your friends, especially those who you know have a tendency to overshop their pictures because they have high expectations for living up to each and every beauty standard.

One Of My Favorite Comedians Posted This On Instagram And It Really Meant A Lot To Me. Skin Has Texture!
The ‘Instagram Reality’ subreddit has over 642,000 members and it describes social media as a “breeding ground for FaceTune and Photoshop” and some people “get away with it,” but others end up having their pics plastered in this community.
Sanity Sunday: Stunning Both Ways And So Refreshing To See
A Scandinavian Online Store Has Found A True Natural Beauty To Model For Them
Sometimes, sanity prevails on the internet and among all the depressing and negative news you get some rays of sunshine which help inspire us and motivate us to do our best. In certain parts of the internet, ‘Sanity Sunday’ is a thing where Sundays are meant for positive posts that help everyone relax, enjoy life, and escape the madness of life. At least temporarily because, as we all know, Sunday is followed by Monday.

Excuse me, but exactly WHAT is “imperfect” with this woman??? Se no reason what so ever to blurr it up on her!!!
I am assuming it is the fat she has. But I thought that was normal after having a baby
Load More Replies...A lovely, female, curvy body. And this time curvy is no euphemism for fat.
That baby certainly does not care about her body. She is just ecstatic that her mommy is with her.
I love to see women being confident in their bodies because sometimes I'm not and it just makes me so happy :P
Assistant Professor Brooke Erin Duffy at Cornell University told The Guardian that Instagram influencers face a dilemma: not editing photos can make people body shame you, but so can editing pictures too much.

Love This Honesty!
Instagram Model Keeping It Real
What I Love About The Royals On Instagram Is The Fact That They Don’t Edit Their Pictures. It’s A Breath Of Fresh Air To See Face Wrinkles And Skin Texture, This Is What Real Faces Look Like
“Nobody wants to be called a fake. Influencers very much feel they need to present themselves authentically while getting the best image possible. It’s not seen as acceptable to put up a photo with a big spot. So you either put up the spot photo and get hate in the comments or you remove the spot,” the Professor said. She also warned that removing too many imperfections will make it obvious that you’re using photo-editing software. This, in turn, will make your fans call you out.
I Love Love Love When Celebrities Post Unaltered Photos!
I dont even see what there is to alter ?? What a mind set is it to see anything to alter at all in this awesome photo.
She Keeps It 100% Real, And I Love It

Angles Make All The Difference.
If these women were trying to really show body positivity, then the filtered and edited pictures would not be part of their social media profiles at all. I’m sick and tired of having this forced on me on a daily basis. Please understand that an Instagram “influencer” is not a good role model for this.
Yeah, they all started this s**t and now they're like turning themselves away from it because they're partially responsible for other people's unrealistic beauty standards. Hypocrisy, no?
Load More Replies...It's nice when they show themselves unflattering once in a while but many of these women are the cause of the problem of unrealistic body images / lifestyle in the first place. Look at my huge butt! check out my great life! My perfect hair! see what I have (that you maybe don't!)
This to me this is more of attention seeking than promoting body positivity. As you pointed out, 99% of the time they promote their fake life styles.
Load More Replies...Why are women considered "brave" if they show how they look without make up and filters, and show their "imperfect" bodies (healthy body is NEVER imperfect btw)? Why there are never ever any men that are considered "brave" for showing how they "really" look like? I never got this. I get what you are going to say but I am kinda sick of women trying to prove that they are beautiful even if they don't look like models. You don't owe to be pretty to the world. Your beuty is in everyone who loves you and in yourself not in your, by only Hollywood measures, "imperfect" bodies. You are fine, you don't have to prove anything to the whole world outthere.
THANK YOU. It's so sad that in this day and age, girls and young women think their natural selves are ugly. If they only knew how beautiful they are, just as they are!
Load More Replies...Its actually really sad that we live in a world that has come to making a big deal out of reality because its so full of photoshop :( social media is the devil and is one of the biggest problems when it comes to peoples mental health 🤦♀️
I couldn't agree more! Half of the pictures are of young people with normal skin, yet the poster calls them "older" or "refreshingly real." Young people: Please get off social media and get SOCIAL. Meet humans. Volunteer. Get involved in your community. Go to a bar. Being in the world with humans is much more fun than staring at a screen.
Load More Replies...Well, I don't follow models on IG, only artists. I guess that's why I miss all these the first go around.
This post makes me feel better about myself. After losing 65 pounds I have some loose skin, and still have some cellulite. I felt damaged when looking at myself, like I was a pretend thin person in a way. Glad to see lots of real women looking like me vs the ideal.
I love seeing posts like this! They're so positive and uplifting, and helps me to view myself in a better light.
No idea why you got downvoted! Love the positivity
Load More Replies...I do not know anyone who posts on Instagram, neither positive nor posingly...
Most everyone I went to high school with has an account, myself included. If you know anyone under 30 they likely have one.
Load More Replies...Yes, but it's a trendy way of virtue signaling and it gets them attention. No worries, they'll go back to their regular instagram fake posts.
Load More Replies...Well, you don't have to follow those kind of accounts where people mostly pose selfies and unrealistically beautiful (travel/lifestyle/sports) pictures. You can just follow normal people or painters, musicians, illustrators, film makers, cooks, or other artists! It's a choice, you know! ;-)
Load More Replies...I have a hard time with this whole "isn't she brave for not photo shopping" mentality. Stop being so self absorbed!!!!
How I wish that the key to being gorgeous is not worrying about how people will react to what they see. For sure, almost everyone is secretly wishing that people, especially women, will stop posting fake-looking photos so that they can release an enormous breath of fresh air. I bet physically attractive women (like how social media depicts beauty) are not that happy with how they try to cover their "flaws" but women who are just plain happy with whatever they have will always be attractive.
It's just a new trend... One day someone showed unphotoshoped pics and got a round of applause, "How amazingly brave of her!". Now they all want to have a bit of that "Look, i am not perfect... How perfect is that!" Good looks, bad looks, people do everything to get attention x_x
Admittedly DNF but who are these people and why am I supposed to care?
I find this very interesting but also something that I realized a long time ago. However, I wonder why we always seem to focus on women and not share some of the pictures of men in similar situations? It would seem to me like the whole world is focused on how a woman looks, reality or not, but they forget the hard truths that men don't want to admit to in life as far as looks go and are not perfect either.
So an influencer who posts endless fake photos everyday, shows ONE with a few pimples, and a couple of belly rolls, and all is forgiven?! This "damage control" is too little, too late
I guess women, would be thankful for cosmetics, or most of us !!!
Surely there is also more to men? Those who don't cover up there stretch marks or scars or pores are inspirational and beautiful. People are allowed to put on makeup. Not all of it hides who we are. We are allowed to escape from who we are from time to time. Please think before posting and have a lovely day
