Except for that rug. Why not have a plush bathroom rug in a complimentary color. Lots of choices in your artwork.

I'm sorry but it's hard to not be sarcastic when title of the page says "ideas so good people had to share them" and the first thing down is something that our grandma's used to do and what's in every other home 🤦‍♀️😂 That's not a "idea so good" etc. That's hardly an idea at all!

Decorating your home can be a lot of work. While some people may have a natural eye for it, others (myself included) can struggle quite a lot. Mixing and matching colors, textures, and shapes requires some knowledge in aesthetics, so it shouldn't be surprising that some people find decorating their homes quite anxiety-inducing.

The problem is that most of us still want to live in a beautiful home. One that is aesthetically pleasing, cozy, and adheres to our tastes. So, ultimately, we just have to suck it up and do the work. The truth is that many people experience decorating anxiety, so we might as well just take comfort in the fact that we're in this together.

New homeowners often have to grapple with decorating anxiety. Whether you're a student who's just moved into their first dorm or a couple who bought their first house, it can be stressful to furnish your space and decorate it the right way. Especially when you're on a budget!

Licensed Psychologist Dr. Lauren Hazzouri told Architectural Digest that her clients often express the same worries. But she also claims it's something we just have to get over; ultimately, it will be worth it. "Pulling the proverbial trigger to create your own sanctuary is important for so many reasons, including energy, mood, even the likelihood that you’ll socialize in your home."

Much of the anxiety of decorating comes from the fear of making mistakes. And if you're trying to limit your expenses, that can be especially true. However, that only makes your anxiety worse. If we looked at interior design and home decorating as a process of trial and error, we could eliminate much of the stress around it.

I like that color is coming back, but it has to be done right. This would be way too loud and busy for me to relax and sleep in. And the rug is too small, the bed legs should be on top of it. It may work better if placed horizontally at the end of the bed so the bed legs can be on top of it, but it would still be too small.

Don't like white for the couch. I'd go w a rose, muted navy, or pale forest.

According to Caroline On Design, reminding yourself that you don't have to get it right the first time reduces much of the decorating overwhelm. "We don’t get it magically correct the first time (except on occasion)! Regardless of how much of a knack for design a person has, there is always an element of trial and error in decorating."

Clever use of toning background to the wallpaper and paint on adjoining wall. Pulls the room together. Is the underlying shade of the carpet also matching the paint on the walls?

But what if you end up overdoing it, thinking too much about what pictures would best suit that space above the staircase? Obsessing over decorations and how your house looks can also be a thing. Author and life coach Martha Beck writes that if you feel you're on a never-ending loop of decorating, you need to find some balance.

Love the color as well (my flat has this shade of grey on the walls, too). You can add nearly every colour to it for decoration, grey enhances dark red beautifully for example. I would be careful to not put too many big, leafed plants near your bed, because they dispense co2 during the night, which can influence the quality of your sleep.

First, Beck writes, it's best to map out how you want your room or space to look. She recommends people set an end goal to how the room or a particular corner of the house should look. Once we visualize and plan how the finished space should look, any add-ons will make it look less like your goal.

Well, the wall and floor tiles don't go together at all. The sink is shoved into the corner, making it more difficult to use, and is too small for the space. The black toilet seat sticks out like a sore thumb and breaks up the line of sight. There is no decor, not even a mirror over the sink. The tub is rather unsightly, but if you want a jetted tub, who cares if they're out of fashion now. Overall, a miss.

Second, according to Beck, it's important to find out the reason behind you obsessing over decorating. Some people use it as a distraction from other problems, like dealing with unwanted feelings. To find this out, Beck recommends sitting down in your room for 10 minutes and taking a look around.

I like the colours in this room very well. Very bright and happy for the first room everyone of us enters in the morning. However, I would have chosen the curtain shower OR the pattern on the left wall. Together they kind of "neutralize" their effect. Which, each on his own fits the room very well.

Very nice, cooling colour for the kitchen. And for all the open-space "haters". My experience as a part time cleaner is, if your cupboards have doors or not, dust and grease go in there as well, as long as they are not air-tight. And it´s the most neglected place for inside-cleaning as well, because you don´t look there often. The first thing I had to clean in every "new" household was inside the cabinets and the upper sides of doorframes and cupboards. You can not imagine what you can find there...

It seems like there's no balance here, and also not much kitchen. 90% of this stuff is just on display. Is this a kitchen or an antique shop? And what with the freshman-year-at-college lights? Between all open shelving and nothing practical stored in them, I'd say this kitchen is the extreme in non-functionality.

Well, to be honest I don't like it at all :( I like how the shower was made but the walls and ceiling look like someone smoked in the room for years on end... The color is just unpleasant and the structure doesn't help, since it reminds me of chipping paint being covered with new one. Maybe if owner would replace lighting from dim warm tone to more luminous white lights, it would help a little. Wooden cabinet doesn't fit with anything - not with floor, shower nor walls - it's again much to yellow in tone. But that can be easily fixed with painting it black or blue like the shower tiles! Also, I'm not sure why floor tiles in the shower are completely different, both in size and color, than the rest of the flooring. In the end, as a project of putting new shower into old bathroom - solid B+, but as a whole room it's not for me at all. Sorry.

I like how the picture matches the tiles. The shower is well done as well, I just would prefer shower curtains. Cabins ( if glass or plastic ) are so hard to clean and maintain, you will have mould on the most unreachable parts in no time. And if I may say so, the texture of the wall and ceiling is not pretty, in my eyes at least. Combined with the shiny white colour and the two Lights ( ceiling and above the mirror ) it has the charm of a 70 years german school-restroom. You could paint the Cupboard a matching blue, and the walls a matt colour (for example a lighter shade of the green in the picture), to attenuate the structure.

I've got stacks of books (tried to move a bookshelf without emptying it and it collapsed, yet to be replaced; at least the books have been piled neatly now), baskets of outgrown toys I'm sorting to donate, and an old tv that's been sitting in the corner for a year while I fail to decide what to do with it. Talking to my neighbour a few days ago and it turns out she's had an old tv sitting on her living room floor for two years, so at least I'm not alone. I've got several hundred books in here, a 9-foot high bay window facing southwest, a cozy sofa to read on, and dozen of plants (both living and built of LEGO-type bricks). It's chaotic and won't make any magazine spreads, but it works.

I like the dark blue paired with the brass/dark golden color of the lamp and curtains. Maybe it´s just the lightning of the picture, but I would try to match the bedsheets with it (terracotta doesn´t fit to well, in my opinion). And if you go with Feng Shui, you should never put your bed under the window.
