Instagram influencer Kat Torres has been sentenced to eight years in prison for human trafficking and slavery of a young Brazilian woman. Torres, a former model who claimed to have spiritual powers, lured vulnerable followers to live with her in the US, promising to help them achieve their dreams. She coerced them into working as strippers and prostitutes, taking their earnings and isolating them from friends and family. The FBI became involved when two women were reported missing, leading to a search that ended with their rescue. Torres denies all allegations, but over 20 women have reported being scammed or exploited by her.

I don't know if is it possible to traffic people alone, but it doesn't sound possible. And she had to sell them to some pimp or was she doing all those things? Because it sounds like organized crime and 8 years sounds like pretty light sentence.

He got caught because the initial investigation from the authorities failed to determine a cause and he posted online saying it was obvious the switch was in the wrong place. I’m sure most of them mean no harm, but we’ve all seen those mommy bloggers who seem a little “too perfect”. I never assumed it went this dark, but it was always at least a little off putting. Full details below:
Ruby Franke, a former YouTube “momfluencer” was sentenced to a maximum of 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of aggravated child abuse.
Her business partner, Jodi Hildebrand, received the same sentence for her role in the cruelty.
In her plea agreement, Franke admitted to physically torturing her 12-year-old son, holding his head under water, depriving him food, and tying up his hands and feet after he attempted to escape.
Franke’s 9-year-old daughter endured similar abuse.
Franke hid the abuse for years and documented her family’s daily life in Utah on her popular YouTube channel “8 Passengers.”

I saw the video of when they found the daughter inside the house - she was locked in a closet and afraid to come out. The police officer sat down on the floor with her and just waited. Of all the ‘sins’ I’ve seen performed by these people, to me this is one of the less odious ones. As long as the Canyon didn’t have people at the bottom, at the time. It must be very tempting to throw a rock down, as a way of connecting and hearing and seeing how deep it is (not as a way of being destructive), so hitting a golf ball is one on from that. And of all the cråp and litter we have infested the world with, a golf ball really isn’t that bad. She certainly shouldn’t be compared to the guy who deliberately derailed a train.

We were there last week. Everyone was being respectful of the lavender and sunflowers. You can take pictures and not ruin the lavender. Laying down on the flowers will most likely result in being stung by bees.

Yep, I completely feel for Hitchin Lavender. There is a vinyard on our land and we also have horses, goats, alpaca, etc. We had people who would drive up the little private road to our home & try to walk around in our pastures to touch our animals (and feed them inappropriate things!) or try to get into the vinyard from the back side. We ended up having to install a large gate because a-hole people think that they have the right to access or do any & everything in the name of "content." There needs to be a law that this s**t can't be monetized. If Tik Tok, Instagram, YouTube and all the stores that have "influencer programs" didn't offer pay for views or any sort of reward or free product, these absolute wastes of oxygen would have no reason to do this idiocy. I blame not only the influencers, but the companies that created and reward this BS!

Just because a wild animal tolerates you, or even seems to want to be your friend or want food, it doesn't mean you should be with them! If they lose wariness of humans, they come into town, and we have to put them down. If they rely on humans for food they can get aggressive when humans don't feed them, and we have to put them down. When you're on a trip and you stop to take photos with wild animals in the frame, you're putting them in jeopardy

TikToker Amelia Goldsmith filmed a video at the grocery store trying to buy a stranger’s groceries.
When she approached shoppers at checkout, they did not understand why she was offering to pay for their food. Some appeared to be mildly offended.
After no one accepted her offer, she bought items to add to a food bin at the store.
At the end of the video, Goldsmith was in tears. “I’m just really overwhelmed right now, I don’t know what’s going on,” she said.

Kinda off topic, but related in a way, CBC Marketplace did an investigation on grocery store credit card pushers. The employees are trained to scope out people who "appear" to be "uneducated, poor/low income, young, lacking financial literacy". After hearing this, I too, get extremely offended when approached with store credit card offers while I shop. Once, in a Loblaws, I was approached 3 times by the same employee and I had to lay into her, telling her I knew what she was doing and not having it. So, I can definitely see why people would decline this women's offer. Even when I'm broke and find myself having to put back groceries or walk out empty, offers from people to pay for my groceries is not easily accepted and there's been times I've declined. It is embarrassing. No one wants unsolicited charity, especially when it's not needed. Her time, efforts and money would have been better spent at a shelter, food bank or something.

I would offer to pay if someone was having trouble--their card wasn't running, or the amount was more than they thought and they would have to put something back. I would be happy to help in that situation. But I'm not gonna just randomly walk up to people and offer to pay their groceries. And I'm certainly not going to film it. That's gross.
Nowadays, some influencers have become brands themselves, creating images, videos, podcasts, and their own merchandise and products. Given their list of tasks, such work can be non-stop, especially keeping in mind that social media is open 24/7 and the need to maintain relationships with followers is constant.

Influencers are nothing but a pus-filled cyst on the a**e end of humanity, and those who follow them need psychiatric help. What do they do? Are people too stupid to understand what influencers do?
