The goth girl was nominated for senior homecoming queen as a joke and ended up winning.
Right! I may look like a scary bitc(h) but I am super friendly!
Load More Replies...Awesome! High schools need more goth homecoming queens.
Not quite, but I thought of it too.

They tried banning specifically girls Nike running shorts when I was in 9th grade. All juniors and seniors regardless of gender wore them to school the next day and everyone sent home. Went on like that for a week and admin caved.
an assistant principal got fired for ripping off a girls hijab bc she thought it was a hoodie 😀
That was probably a lie she came up with to try and avoid being fired for racism.

I don't know about you, but as I scrolled through the list, some of these instances truly horrified me. After all, some of them speak about students passing away, so of course, they can disturb anyone. On the other hand, there were other events that literally left me laughing out loud.
To understand the aftermath of such instances on the whole school, Bored Panda reached out to teacher and principal Jyoti D., who has been in the teaching profession for the past 22 years. She said that she has experienced many such shocking incidents, which literally sent shockwaves throughout the school.
Someone died every year but I’ll stick with the fun ones and say we released 3 chickens in the school but marked them 1,2 & 4 so they looked for that number 3 all damn day
By "someone died every year", did you mean "someone died every year while running away from the bear who was trying to catch a misnumbered chicken"?
I'm not completely sure, but that's what it usually means.

2 people in my class died in the month right before we graduated. One was a drunk driving accident. The other kid had a heart condition and dropped dead while we were all outside at a yearbook signing picnic. It was awful. Really put a damper on our last few weeks of high school. 😥

we had a b*mb threat and while we were all in lock down someone hacked every PA system ans started playing blow by kesha
The principal was clear and against social media and anonymous like group chats bashing other students turned out that one student was getting bullied so bad on one of those apps & the cops got involved & the IP address was led RIGHT TO THE PRINCIPALS HOME
Well I just read the story of the mom who bullied her daughter to the point she almost committed suic.de. She initially was helping the police, consoling daughter in public and harassing her over text and group chats. So that call was coming from inside the house. Yes I get your reference.

Our expert claimed that moments like these can either help schools grow or just expose cracks that were already there. "Stuff like this doesn’t always create problems; it usually just puts a spotlight on issues that were already bubbling under the surface. Maybe there were signs, maybe people ignored them, or maybe no one even noticed until everything exploded," she expressed.
However, Jyoti also argued that sometimes, moments like these can actually push a school to change, if they’re willing to face the hard stuff. She believes that the ones who learn from it, talk about it openly, and actually fix what went wrong come out stronger. Although the ones that just try to cover it up or pretend it never happened, not so much, she added.
The morning announcement “ears and tails are no longer allowed to be worn during school hours”
Oh for Pete's sake... who downvoted this?! It's a JOKE, making fun of idiots who actually believed there was such a thing. It got a chuckle outta me.
Load More Replies...I have a kid (13 in October) who wears ears and tails to school. It’s most definitely not a myth in my house. No use of a litter box though :)
Do you know why they wear ears and tails? Genuinely curious.

We had a legitimate undercover cop that pretended to be a student, and there were some arrests made. Not even the teachers knew…. Only our school principal and other resource officers at our school.
What's a resource officer? Is that a euphemism for a security guard/police officer stationed in a school?
Yes, typically a resource officer is a local police officer that has been assigned the school as their duty station.

we had fights but nothing topped a guy dressing as batman all day and staging a fight with someone as the riddler
Why does this bring to mind the story how in the sixties Batman and Riddler actors from the tv-show got kicked out of an ořgy because they kept playing their characters
We also conversed with Jyoti about what the first thing she does when something like this happens. "For me, I quickly switch into damage control mode, but also try to stay calm and make smart decisions fast. Teachers, on the other hand, might be hit with a wave of disbelief, especially if it involves students they have taught or trusted," she narrated.
Jyoti further elaborated that some of the staff immediately wonder if they missed warning signs. Meanwhile, she commented, others might jump into protective mode, trying to support their students while staying out of the drama.
"At the end of the day, most staff are probably just trying to keep things from spiraling, while processing the fact that, yeah, this just became 'one of those days' no one ever forgets," she confessed.
Our religion teacher was diagnosed with cancer and instead of him taking leave he decided to keep working and we basically watched him expire. Additionally they did his wake in the gymnasium
That's a pretty grave dig you got in there.

A camera was found in the girls locker room and it was one of the male coaches who put it there…
My friend Wendy once hit a male PE teacher around the head with a golf club because he wouldn't stop groping her and my bútts when we were helping people vault over the vaulting horse. Our female PE teacher used to watch us all every time we used the communal shower after PE. We got back at her by wearing swimsuits under our gym kits.
my teacher married a student right after she graduated and their still together till this day and he showed us his wedding photos
Happened in my school as well. The teacher was in his 40s. To my knowledge, they stayed together.
He had to wait until she turned 18 (which was coincidentally her 3rd year of 12th grade).
Huh. I suspect this was typical in the 70s- early 80s? We also had a teacher (who we called "Chester" for obvious reasons) who married one of the students after she graduated high school. And he would still outrageously flirt with female students, even as his wife was pregnant. Heard another teacher making a subtle comment about being disgusted about a teacher doing inappropriate things with a student. I had assumed he meant Chester, but I hate to think there's was another one doing that, too.
Chester the M0lester? That was a popular phrase when I was a kid in school.

Not only that, they bought a house across the street from her parents’ house, where she grew up. The whole thing seemed weird to me. I’m glad she enjoyed high school and her teen years….but wanting to stay there forever?
When we asked our expert about how a school gets back to normalcy after such an incident, she claimed that it's a very slow process. She said, "At first, everyone’s just kind of walking on eggshells. Students are whispering, teachers are trying to steer conversations back to math or English, and everything seems off. It’s like the whole school is holding its breath, waiting to see what happens next."
Jyoti noted that the staff usually tries to bring back routine: normal schedules, regular classes, maybe even a school assembly with a "we’re all in this together” message. Over time, things eventually settle down, not because people forget, but because life keeps moving, she summed up.
we had a teacher we though just hated us, turns out he had a brain tumor and no one knew💔
Richest family at our school adopted a big black kid. Became a football star. Made a movie about him. Demanded to be emancipated later. We won state champs the year we graduated though.
My principal got fired after he started using hypnosis on some of the students and was blamed for multiple deaths amongst the students… roughly 10 years later a documentary was made.
Here's the story: https://abcnews.go.com/US/florida-high-school-principal-lied-hypnotizing-students-died/story
Looks like the principal learned how to hypnotize online and started doing it to students and taught them how to self hypnotize. The principal was warned 3 times by the school board about stopping this practice-he continued to do so anyway. One of those students drove himself off the road and died and his GF said his face had gone blank before he did this. Two other students who had learned to self hypnotize committed s*****e shortly after. The school paid $200k to each family and the principal was never charged or fired and now is living a good life.
Ok, that's the craziest thing I've read in a while.

Lastly, Jyoti concluded that no matter how shocking, in the end, these incidents become learning lessons for everyone, whether it be the students or the staff. I guess each school handles it in a different way, but the gist is the same everywhere, right? Well, dear readers, that's it from our end.
Also, if you have experienced some equally bizarre moments in your school life, feel free to share them with us. After all, you know how much we love to hear from you!
School shooting at the school I taught at last year….we were required to come to school the very next day and they fed us fried chicken and dinner rolls to make us feel better 🫠
This totally boggles my brain. Today is the 24th of September. So far this year, 2025, there have been more school shooting in the USA than there have EVER been in the entire history of the UK.
Not surprising, considering the US has much looser guns laws and a much larger population
🤬 They can take their chicken and rolls and stick it where the sun don’t shine.
My science teacher was hit by a car while bike riding to work not once, not twice but THREE times within one year. Another teacher got a knee replacement and the surgeon did the WRONG KNEE
Mmm. When my knee got operated on - both times - I had a nurse check with me what the operation was for, and wrote on the appropriate leg: medical jargon saying what the job was, with a big arrow pointing to the knee.
If it looks stupid and works it's not stupid 🤷

A rapper got into our school somehow and recorded a lil music video scene. Start throwing money in our cafeteria while we eating lunch lolllll
The whole eighth grade got suspended for a month for a full on brawl in the halls it was literally everyone no eighth grader was left unsuspended 😭
Having taught 8th grade for eight years, this does NOT surprise me. 🙄
Not that bad but some kid in 7th grade ripped out the toilet (idk how he did it) and put it in the lost and found
Toilets are easy to remove. You just have to remove a couple of bolts.
Well this was in college, but the janitor had committed double m****r and nobody knew cuz he kept coming to work. He seemed kool asf, but eventually he stopped coming to work. Then one random day me and my girl was watching "1st 48" and the episode was about him. Shook da whole college up 😳
You got into college with grammar and spelling like that? How big a building did your father build on campus?

we had bats in the ceiling 😂😂 we was boycotting on the news and everything
Someone set a chemical explosion in our chem lab and caused all us to go home and the ones who had swim class had hypothermia and a student died
I assume it’s one incident. They had to evacuate immediately. The students in the pool were wet, the weather outside was freezing, they couldn’t grab their coats because of the danger to go back inside and they had to wait outside to be picked up,

Race riot over chocolate milk
I remember the very few times the coolers would have a few crates of strawberry milk mixed in with the chocolate and regular options.
We were woken very early in the morning, like 4am, told to get dressed (British, so school uniform) and then sent on a cross country run in the dark in the pouring rain. I can imagine maybe we were supposed to go to the squash court until they realised that we wouldn't fit. Since I'm *not* athletic, I ducked into the secret smoker's area with a few mates and we had to keep REAL quiet when police poured into the place. You know those movies where the bad guy is being followed by several dozen cop cars? It was like that. Turns out the head was part of a paedo ring and what better place to find needy kids to butter up than a special needs boarding school? He did a runner, evaded the cops, last seen heading to France. This was... 1986? Something like that. Way pre-internet.
I obviously went to school in far more innocent times. Our big scandal was one of the Junior High school teachers posed in Playboy. She wasn't the centerfold.
We had a teacher stopped for speeding while driving us in a minibus to a hockey match.
One of our coaches impregnated and married a "barely" former student. Yeah...
There was a teacher in the school I was attending, who had big problems maintaining order in his class. One day it got totally out of hand, he was screaming, ran into the hallway and got a heart attack. Died on the spot.
