When you’ve been online for a long time, it can sometimes feel like there’s nothing new to see. However, new trends are being created every day. Some of them are legitimately hilarious and remind us of a less stressful time when the internet was a far simpler place.
That’s where the “I’m a photographer and I took this photo” trend comes in. It focuses on the funniest, derpiest, and less-than-perfect pictures that people have taken, and they’re an instant mood booster. Bored Panda has collected the best of the bunch from TikTok, and we’ve compiled them here for your pleasure. Check them out below!
Michelle Wood, from the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards team, was kind enough to explain why animal photos are such an integral part of internet culture. You'll find the insights she shared with Bored Panda as you scroll down.

It is a stuffed toy in front of the penguins enclosure at the zoo
Load More Replies...I'm fairly certain this is a plushie. The droplets of water on the window are behind the baby. The baby appears to be in front of the window. However, it is mega cute and makes me happy.
According to Wood, from the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards project which focuses on humor and conservation, there are a few main reasons why animal photos are such a deep part of internet culture. One of these factors is the format itself.
"It is easy to create the content to start with," she said. "To take the photo, you just need a smartphone, which most people have access to."
What also helps is the current state of the internet. "Online platforms have made it so easy to share content nowadays," Wood told Bored Panda that it's incredibly easy to share one's work with friends, colleagues, and followers alike.
I searched my entire house for my cat just so I could recreate this
The reflected cat on the spoon looks a little like a hippopotamus. OK, you really have to squint and probably eat a bit of brownie your adult son made to see this.
I wish I could get my cat to sit still long enough to get such a wonderful shot!
I'll come, I'll come... FOR A BIG HUG!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Load More Replies..."A visual image is immediately accessible, there are no barriers like language and culture. You can understand it instantly. And then who doesn’t love a cute puppy or a naughty cat—our love for animals stretches across the globe. It’s fun to share this connection."
In Wood's opinion, animal photos won't be going away anytime soon. They're here to stay. "Let's hope so, anyway," the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards team member said.
In the meantime, we were curious to get her take on photographers sharing their work online, which is a big part of marketing one's talents and skills. After all, quite a few creatives might feel shy or even outright scared of showcasing their work on the internet, due to potential criticism.
This is how cats seem themselves if you are a minute late to feed them..
Load More Replies...Hahahaha! I laughed right out loud. It looks like hes standing on his legs and then has little arms out the sides lol
At first I thought his front legs were his back legs and his back legs were his front legs!😆😆
No, I think that's just juice from what he's eating :)
Load More Replies...All the raccoons I try holding hands with seem to have a phobia about it.
The moment you realize you’ve been at the campgrounds too long.
According to Wood, every situation is personal. "Everyone deals with exposure and criticism differently," she said.
"I would suggest starting slowly, build up your following gradually with content that you are really happy and proud to put your name to, engage with fellow creatives in your area, the internet can be a positive and supportive tool, and don’t be put off by negative comments."

I'm a Barbie toad.. on this Barbie road.. you know the tune.. sing along...

Load More Replies...The new TikTok photo trend is fairly simple to participate in. What you do is post a voiceover of a man saying “I’m a photographer and I took this photo,” alongside some whimsical music, and then add a picture you took that contrasts with that tone.
That might be a hilarious picture of your pet, a total mistake that you made while making the shot, or something beyond bonkers. The point is to surprise the audience in some way and to have fun while doing it.
Many people who are completely new to the trend naturally think that what they’re about to see are gorgeous, highly professional images, taken by professional photographers. So they’re in for a bit of a shock and a giggle when they get the opposite. This small twist, this moment of humor is what has helped the trend go so viral.
What a stupid question human, I'm wearing these , because the floor is cold.
Hey Laaaaady! Jerry Lewis, look it up, hilarious!
Load More Replies...Just heard the joke where two dogs and a cat walk into a bar. Dog says " where do we sit?". And the cat replies " anywhere I want to!".
The popularity of the trend on TikTok and other networks has been nothing short of phenomenal. While some of the clips have garnered only a few thousand views each, others, which kicked the trend into overdrive, boast literal millions of views. And the photos are definitely worth all the attention they’re getting.
The fact of the matter is that no matter how great and experienced a photographer you are, you’ll still make mistakes. It’s inevitable. It’s human. And it can be downright hilarious if you have the courage to share your ‘failed’ and unflattering snaps with your followers. It really helps if you have a growth-oriented mindset and embrace your errors, instead of shying away from them.
Looks like 3 toes, but maybe it's the camera angle.
Load More Replies...When you admit to having made a blunder—and maybe blush and laugh at yourself a bit—you seem far more human as a professional. Laughing at your mess-ups is also a far better alternative to internalizing all of that frustration and embarrassment and letting it transform into deep-rooted shame.
I've just seen my human in the shower, they ugly with no fur on them.
My kitty (she’s 13 now) had to watch me transition from goth to neon colour freak, it weirded her out for weeks, she was so used to giant goth boots and black everything to hide in cos she is also black 😂
Load More Replies...Looks like The Moog (for those of you old enough) from the TV series Willo' the wisp.
After many years, she finally found where her stick on window Garfield had gotten to.
Unfortunately, some photographers are perfectionists, just like many other artists and professionals in other fields. Let’s get one thing straight, though, first. It’s completely fine to have standards for your work and to edit and iterate it until you create something that’s truly high quality. However, if you constantly obsess about never being ‘good enough’ and you’re scared of showing your work publicly because some tiny details might be off, then there’s a problem.
Came here for this comment, was not disappointed.

Look at that round belly!! The pose is just inviting you to get some sugar.
As ‘Intermountain Health’ points out, the antidote to perfectionism is self-compassion. We’re all human, we all make mistakes. And it’s important to recognize that and be more realistic about both our efforts, as well as our results. Being patient and supportive of yourself and your own work can yield better results than chronic self-criticism. Kindness, rather than negative self-talk, can motivate artists.
They are natural for some breeds like the American curl
Load More Replies...No it's not natural, again horrible breeders that make genetic mutations to have animals that are unhealthy, look awful, like all the dogs and cats with very short snots who have terrible health problems, like trouble to breath, eyes popping out of the heads, too short legs, ect...... Laws should be made worldwide to forbid such cruel practices. I took a Shih Tzu at our local SPCA who battled her whole short life with horrible health problems such as her nose was set between her eyes, her nostrils were so small she had to have them inlarged, her pallet was so big for her small mouth it made it nearly impossible to breathe, she had an operation for both. Her legs were so short she had to be operated for hernia, she was paralyzed of the back legs, all this because of loosy breeding, make miniatures for stupid people! I still cry her as she had to be put to sleep because she couldn't walk and breath. Her heart was not able work correctly anymore.
that is not a happy cat, I do not like photos like this. the human probably bent her ears back. ; (
According to Walden University, perfectionism is likely to harm the quality of your life if you’re frustrated when you don’t get things ‘perfectly’ right, whatever the task might be. Perfectionists tend to be ‘all or nothing’ type of people. “You can be successful—and take pride in your success—without being the absolute best or the only one at the top.”
Hooman, the tools are there. Commence tribute in the form of brushing...
Were you or were you not the last one to see the bird?
Load More Replies...As a rule of thumb, perfectionists tend to crave other people’s approval. For many of them, it’s their main motivation. If all you ever care about is what others think about you and your photographs, that can really mess with your priorities. Instead, it’s important that you find enjoyment in whatever it is that you do. Sharing some less-than-stellar, quirky, witty photos that you took can be a good counterbalance if you’re feeling high-strung.
Apprentice sister -"Sister Monica, are those for smoking incense? " Sister Monica - "oh my sweet summer child"
I think she thinks it's a sexual device of some kind.....
Load More Replies...Me neither Edit: I have come to the conclusion that the first picture is of the photographer and the second is the picture that they took.
Load More Replies...Oh holy bongs! There's nothing to see here. It's just nuns eating ice cream.
Oh, look, penguins in their natural habit{at).😉 You might need to be catholic to understand that.
On top of that, perfectionists tend to be very critical of other people (this helps them feel better about themselves), but they’re incredibly defensive when they get feedback themselves. On top of that, perfectionists are massive procrastinators. The one thing that they truly fear is failing and for others to learn of this. However, that’s no way to go through life. Photography is about taking pictures, even though most of them won’t be great. But, heck, even the worst of the bunch can make the entire internet smile!
You know you want this. You ain't good enough for dis, but I'm a generous god!
I am a parent and I would do the exact same... While also messaging my partner 'come quick! They're doing something funny!'
The animal ones were cute, but the end was just random weird stuff. I don't get the post title though, "I'm a photographer..."? more like normal people with a phone camera.
This won't load on the BP app. :( I just wanted to comment on the little toad in the toy car. :( 🎶 I'm a Barbie Toad, on a Barbie Road 🎶
So many overweight cats on here. Your veterinary will be very disappointed
