I Tried Cleaning The Stain Off This Mug Until I Realized It's Part Of The Design
And 10 more minutes every time the OP is washing the mug absentmindedly
Load More Replies...Yeah that would get super annoying cause after using it 50 times I would STILL try and clean it thinking it was a stain! Lol. Not worth that kind of anguish!
That reminds me of a cartoon I saw decades ago. Two men, wearing hard hats, were looking up at a skyscraper. The skyscraper has a large semi-circle blob and smaller splotches on the side, and one of the workers said "Damn it Bob, I TOLD you not to set your coffee cup on the blueprints."
That would pìss me off, bro. Why would anyone think this was a good idea.
My Mother Was Cleaning The Attic
I'm here to talk to you about the extended warranty for your Christmas tree!
Load More Replies...All I can imagine is comedy track music, a wagging finger and somebody calling Santa a rascal.
I am sorry but what kind of carboard walls and ceilings are those???
My mother was quite handy around the house, able to do many repairs, maintenance, etc. One day I came home from school to hear her calling my name. She sounded different, and as I went room to room looking for her, I came upon her leg protruding through the ceiling. She had gone into the attic to eradicate a wasp nest and lost her balance, resulting in the talking leg I was seeing. We managed to get her safely out of the situation, and she got rid of the nest without being stung. She patched the ceiling perfectly the next day. She was awesome.
My Wife Wonders Why The Vacuum Hasn't Been Working
She'll come crawling out of it like in the ring or the grudge 🙈🤣
Load More Replies...I used to have this problem but my new Dyson vacuum has an anti hair tangler system that really works!
Our vacs get like that with two pets. Good, sharp, pair of scissors. Get a robot vacuum to deal with day to day fluff. Just helps a bit, still needs cleaning mind.
I've got a little ring shaped tool that is part comb part razor blade. Pull the brush out and sweep that thing over it and the brush is good to go
Load More Replies...How do people not know you have to clean out the vacuum? He should probably check the lint trap in the dryer too before she burns the house down!
I firmly believe that a lot of these issues come from much of the previous generation believing these things are second nature and not realizing they have to teach their kids this stuff, it doesn't just come to you on your own
Load More Replies...We have to admit that not everyone enjoys cleaning. At least not after smashing an oven door or covering the bathroom floor with bubbles. Cleaning expert Alessandro Gazzo believes that the reason many dislike tidying up is because it’s a repetitive and mechanical task.
“If you think about it, it’s like brushing your teeth: it’s not fun, but it’s important. You have to do it whether you like it or not, but you (and the people around you!) will notice the positive outcome. However, brushing your teeth is much easier and faster, of course. That’s why you need to focus on creating a routine that stops you from overthinking and allows you to jump straight to action.”
Meanwhile, professional cleaner Axel Avery says, “I think many people dislike cleaning because a) it’s tiring, especially if you do it for years and years; b) it’s often an imbalanced responsibility that usually falls heavily only on a single member of the household (which leads to arguing, frustration, etc.); and c) it takes time and energy away that you can spend doing something more productive or fun (which is why many people hire a house cleaning service).”
My Mom Erased Part Of The World While Cleaning My Globe
Why would it need to be cleaned? Just dusting would proably all it would have needed.
Washed My Measuring Cup And All The Lines And Numbers Came Off
The 1 cup line on mine aren't level with the top. So it may or may not do
Load More Replies...Recalibrate it with water from another measuring jug or cup, and use Sally Hansen nail varnish for the markings. Yes they do survive the dishwasher
This happened to me!! You end up guessing. (And I just cleaned it with soap.)
I Clean Pools And Today I Knocked A Huge Potted Plant Into The Water
Every time I see your username in this post I keep thinking it's the comment and have to do a double take
Load More Replies...We had this happen on a much larger scale when the landscapers incorrectly tried to put a terrace in our garden. The first time we had a rain storm the whole hill washed down in to the pool. Believe it or not you don't have to empty and refill the whole thing. You add chemicals to clean it and vacuum up the dirt. Yes they paid for the cleaning and came back to do the terrace correctly. No issues when it rains now.
We had the same thing happen with a great big potted palm. No terrace though, our pool is indoors, but my dog did one of his stealth moves (he's insanely quiet for being so big) and scared the c**p out of the pool guy, who jumped & knocked into the planter. Couldn't be too upset though, totally understandable if you turned around to suddenly find a giant horse dog behind you. It cleaned up nicely & the company took care of everything.
Load More Replies...That's what they get for leaving it so close to the edge of the pool.
Indeed, cleaning can be a true pain sometimes, but it often proves to be very beneficial to our mental health—an aspect Gazzo finds the most enjoyable about it. “We all know a clean space helps you stay healthy in the physical sense (by sanitizing surfaces, killing mold, etc.) But what I like the most is that you also improve your mental health.
If you clean your home regularly, you feel more at ease, you forget about the stress of not finding your items, and you are more focused (this is key if you work from home). If you stop thinking of cleaning as a burden, it becomes one less burden in your life.”
My Tenancy Ends Tomorrow After 2 Years In This Flat. Today, While Cleaning And Getting Everything Ready To Move Out, I Hit The Oven's Door And Broke The Glass. Bye Bye Sweet Deposit Money
OP has all my sympathy. I'm moving Friday and the more tired I am, the clumsier I get. This sounds so much like something I'd do.
and now you have a chance to learn from someone else's experience!
Load More Replies...Landlord: "Oh good! I was up all night trying to figure out an excuse to keep the deposit. You did it for me!"
In the UK you have to use a deposit scheme. They hold the deposit through the entirety of the tenancy. If you believe the tenant has damaged the property and you want to contest giving the deposit back you can but you need evidence and 9/10 they will side with the tenant anyway 🤷 my tenants will always their deposit back as long as they look after the house and leave it in the same state they found it. With this picture though, accidents do happen and can't be helped, I would be understanding to that.
Load More Replies...This should cost way less to fix than a months rent! You can often do it yourself - in my experience these glas plates are removable for cleaning purposes. Order a new one and offer to install it yourself?
Deposit is only one month's rent where you are? Here they can legally ask up to three months rent as a deposit (most do). It was reduced to two months max once but they changed the law again.
Load More Replies...I’m so happy I used (a lot) money on a professional cleaning lady when we moved. It was as expensive but worth it.
it probably doesn't cost that much to buy a replacement from the stove manufacturer...any monkey can replace..so, save your self the money and buy and repace the glass yourself
I Just Wanted To Clean The Window
Wow! you did such a great job cleaning the window looks like it disappeared!
This is a completely normal insulated-core steel entry door. What I think happened is they removed the inner vinyl grille (because it is not in the photo anywhere) to clean the glass more effectively, not understanding that the inner and outer grilles sandwich the glass between the inside and outside skins of the door. A little too much pressure on the inside and the glass unit fell out.
Load More Replies...Wow nice job. No streaks at all!! What kind of cleaner di....oh c**p!! LOL!! At least it happened on a sunny day and not in a stormy night. And it didn't fall on a guest or delivery person. It fell so cleanly. It looks like eyes and bushy eyebrows in the glass in the closest to the door.
I'm Doing Renovations And My Roomba Found A Tiny Piece Of Sheetrock
I kinda wanted one before I saw a pic where the dog shat on the floor and the roomba did his deed 🤢
Load More Replies...I've seen photos of them catching much worse things. Such as feces. So this sucks (haha) but you still have blessings to count!
You can clean off poop (I know, still nasty), but you can't clean off damage
Load More Replies...A Roomba would be full within 30 mins in my house, due to thick carpeting (UK, West Mids) in lounge and hall, as they attract dust like a magnet (old house), so leaving it on while out wouldn't work out very well for me, lol.
same. two dogs and a cat, and it will be plugged at one point while cleaning. Still love it though.
Load More Replies...Oh lord. I expensive to fix😕 might be less expensive to but new floors. Dámn you romba roomba:(
Avery likes to clean professionally because it makes other people’s lives easier. “You know, it’s not easy to run a home and have a social life, work, and spend time with your family. In a more personal sense, what I enjoy about cleaning is that it helps me keep my life in order and structured. I think your home is (most times) a representation of what is going on in your life. If your house is a mess, it’s highly unlikely that your life is under control.”
To befriend cleaning and avoid failures in the future, experts point out a few mistakes people should refrain from making. The first one Avery indicates is using the wrong cleaning products. “You don’t need a strong, borderline-toxic cleaning chemical. In fact, most things in your home just need an all-purpose cleaner. The simpler and more versatile your cleaning products are, the more efficient you will be at cleaning.”
Got New Cargo Shorts And Accidentally Sat On A Stool That My Sister Was Cleaning With Clorox
Maybe soak the whole thing in Clorox to make it all that colour? It’s a nice purple imo
The cat seems to disagree. Or it's just in a mood
Load More Replies...It's unusual for there to be a cat in an unrelated photo and the top comment is NOT a reference to the cat. Perhaps we just need to give it some time?
Load More Replies...My Brother And I Were Cleaning Out The Attic, But Then I Heard A Loud Crash And Saw This Above Me. I Chose To Take A Photo Before Asking Questions
That's not actually a normal attic, it's in a garage and not even a surface they're supposed to put things on, much less walk over it. There is, most likely, storage space up there with better support for placing things and walking on. This person took a wrong turn at Albuquerque.
Load More Replies...My dad did this exact thing once. Leg right through the ceiling. Unfortunately they have custom wallpaper on the ceiling (it's a Victorian house) so it was a costly mistake.
Why is so many houses in the US (I guess it’s in America?) build in cardboard or very thin metrical?! This happened so many times. Build houses that people actually can Live in? Without hurting themselves? Thicker than walls, doors and attic roofs? We don’t have simulat problems here😳 Edit typo
Home Alone Cleaning The Roof And Gutters When I Heard A Loud Bang
Which is great IF there is someone nearby to come to your aid. Yes, yes, I know there are emergency services available but no one likes bothering them if there are no limbs missing.
Load More Replies...This happened to me in the winter. Went to sweep snow off the roof. Told friend I was going up. Left the cell phone in the house. They could not reach me for over 2 hours and came looking. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. 🥶❤🧡💛💚💙💜
The ladder's name shall be, Rick Astley. It's never gonna let you down...
Another one he points out is cleaning in the wrong order. “This makes people over-clean wet floors, for example, or have to clean twice because they’ve forgotten to clean from top to bottom. Always clean from top to bottom and from the furthest point away from the door to the room you’re in, and move towards the door."
Let’s Just Say That We Ended Up With Very Clean Laundry Room Floor… And Yes I’m An Idiot
I put regular liquid dish soap in the dishwasher when I was five and cleaned the floor as well.
When I was around the same age, I used furniture polish on the linoleum kitchen floor. My father came in with socks on and it was so slippery he went down immediately and crashed hard. Man, kids do stupid stuff, he was so pissed, lol.
Load More Replies...Was going to say, is that a machine for making meringue
Load More Replies...The washer in my old house drained into a hole in the basement floor that had a sump pump installed. Water goes in, pump sucks it out & pushes it into the sewer line. It was quite efficient, until the sump pump died and I found out by the inch of water covering the basement floor. It was bare concrete, and I figured I was lucky. If anything was going to overflow and flood the basement, I would choose hot, soapy water every time.
Use the full amount of regular detergent in a high efficiency washers. You only need a small amount of high efficiency detergent.
Load More Replies...Hey lighten up on yourself we have all done that; NOT! you are not an idiot, just careless, LOL

Meanwhile, Gazzo believes that cleaning without a plan is the most common mistake. ”You start going around everywhere and don’t really finish cleaning anything. Besides, it’s frustrating not knowing what to do next and you need to make decisions on the spot. Create a plan first and you will jump from A to B to C. It’s easier and more organized, and you will have a more precise time estimate for cleaning.”
I Was Emptying The Dishwasher And Found This “Clean” Glass Break
Happens often enough if you have a diamond ring (either all round diamonds, or the stone has turned to the palm side of your hand), and then you dry the glasses to make them shine: Congrats, you've scored a neat ring around the glass! If it doesn't immediately break, then it will during the next wash from the heat/expansion.
I'd keep both halves. Ones a vase and surely the other's useful for something, maybe some sort of stand for something round
We ate at Red Lobster once and as the server handed my glass of water to me the whole bottom broke off like that.
Very good thing that it was just water and not red wine.
Load More Replies...I've had this happen to me a couple of times, with glasses from a single batch. Some broke in the dishwasher, some while washing by hand, and one just cracked on my desk right in front of me. I made a claim with the manufacturer and for replacements.
After A Long Flight We Decided To Wash And Dry The Pillows. We Brought And Made Our Laundry Room Look Like A Bird Horror Movie
Reminds me of the time I didn't realize that I accidentally knocked on a new toilet paper roll into the washing machine... Remember seeing the horror when I opened the door to move items into the dryer. Must've been too horrifying for my brain because I don't remember what I did next... Blocked it out 🤔🤷♀️
I wash my down pillows and this hasn't happened-yet. Been doing it for 20 years. Which means 5 times.
Load More Replies...Well, at least it was 2 of them who made this decision. Not sure if is good for future they are coupled up together without common sense...
LoL, this happend to me once. The pillow exploded and there were feathers everywhere, tried to clean it all up but I still ended up getting a really angry note from the neighbour after me in the laundry room.
Please do a thorough vacuum/clean out the vent from the machine all the way to where it exits!
Ugh...that's a mess. However, down is ripped from the chests of live geese who are raised just to produce it over and over . It's a sick but lucrative industry, whose leaders are evil and uncaring about life.
I Was Washing The Dishes When The Sink Decided To Fall Out Of The Counter. First Time My Strange Habit Of Hoarding Large Bath Towels Has Proven Itself Useful
It's not actually. Think I've even seen it here before. Many sinks are mounted from the bottom. If the adhesives / clamps are not installed properly the result can be this. Older style sinks (like mine) have a lip and set down in from above. Still fixed in place but even if not sealed the sink holds itself in place. Newer style looks cool but has to be installed correctly.
Load More Replies...Talk about a sink deficiency - sounds draining,,, I'd definitely pull the plug...
I’m sure the was a celebrity episode of come dine with me, where Peter Stringfellow’s sink did this! IIRC he tried to make olive oil ice cream by adding olive oil to a tub of vanilla ice cream. It will surprise no one to learn that did not go well.
That desecration of ice cream sounds truly revolting.
Load More Replies...Had that happen to me except it was just the garbage disposal, as I was using it.
He also notes that elbow grease doesn’t always fix everything. “You don’t need to tire yourself out cleaning for hours and spending unnecessary energy. Let cleaning agents act on the surface for 10–15 minutes, and then wipe. You avoid getting tired, and you also protect surfaces from scratching, for example.”
I Was Cleaning The BBQ... And Turned Around For 30 Seconds
Had an apartment neighbor pour out cooking oil on my ash pile I was waiting to cool so I could clean it up. My dog got into it and came back to me like this. Unfortunately, he also got severe food poisoning and painted the inside of my apartment. At the time I blamed the neighbors but they didn't do it on purpose and I was the A who didn't watch what my dog was eating..... My dog survived but it was a lesson for us both.
Also, GF was feeding my dog a popsicle and he grabbed the whole thing with his tongue, swallowing it whole, stick and all. We were freaking out but all we could do was watch his behavior... a week went by and nothing so we figure he puked it up. the following week I noticed a stick poking out of his butt. I slowly pulled it out and it was a completely intact popcicle stick that had made its way through him. Same dog as before....
Load More Replies...What Could Go Wrong When Neighbor Cleans Fireplace Into Recycle Bin
My Mom once accidentally set a garage truck on fire by doing this. The embers stayed in the garage bin and when the truck came and emptied the bin the air must have ignited the garage and set the truck ablaze.
note to self: when throwing out a fireplace don't put the fire in the bin with it
Last year on july 4 my grown adult stepson (he and his 2 young boys live with me and his mom) didn't soak his spent fireworks. Threw them away in the garage. Woke up to smoke alarm and had to call fire department. Luckily mostly smoke damage, but a small area in the garage was burned. Fireman instinctly knew to lecture him.
I am so glad my parents taught me fireworks all go straight into the filled water bucket and stays there overnight. Nobody deserves a house fire. But when you don't properly soak your fireworks, you get what you get.
Load More Replies...Years ago I knew someone who used their central vacuum to clean the ashes from their fireplace, then went out for the day. Wasn't long before the whole house was engulfed in flames. This was the middle of winter, fireplace used daily. To this day I still think this wasn't an accident and they knew exactly what they were doing.
Never heard of an ash bucket? Grew up with a woodstove, you NEVER put ash in the trash
That's how my neighbor started one of our counties most damaging fires, burning down 2.5 neighborhoods, killing 5 people and countless animals. Don't throw away hot ashes folks.
our neighbors did this with fireworks. their bin was right next to our houe and melted the siding. ended up having to have the whole thing replaced bc the siding that was on it was discontinued long time ago. they paid for it. just glad it didnt catch th whole house on fire
My Dad Cleaned My Cat's Litter Box With My Spatula While I Was Out Of Town
My dad is living with me at the moment. I was out of town for several days and came home to a spatula next to my cat’s litter box. The actual litter scoop was in the small closet in plain sight. He didn’t call or ask about the location.
For some cleaning do's, Avery recommends having a plan before going into it. “Always try multitasking: while you’re leaving your toilet cleaner act on your toilet for 15 minutes, wipe your sink and your mirror in the meantime,” he adds. “Try alternating your tasks so you don’t get bored. Look for house cleaning services online that have blogs with cleaning tips, so you can learn from the best. They have refined their cleaning techniques many times and will help you work easier.”
I Hear Screaming Coming From The Living Room, Only To Find My 5-Year-Old Daughter On The Floor With Her Hair All Sucked Up & Tangled In Our Ilife Robot Vacuum
Idk. If it was my daughter, she would probably ask me to take a photo before disintangling her first. "My friends will never believe me if you don't."
Load More Replies...Yeah... would also advise not dremmeling your dog's nails with your hair down 🤣... thank goodness it was on the lowest speed!
Yep. Happened to me. Ripped out a chunk of hair and twirled the remaining strand into a dreadlock that took me the better part of an hour to unravel.
Load More Replies...This is the type of kid that is going to get their bracers snagged in the carpet.
Between the dog poops that get smeared around, the rocks that leave scratches all over hard wood, and this, I'm thinking robot vacuums are absolutely not worth it. I'll stick to our broom.
Moved 15 Times Over 30 Years With An Antique Vase My Grandma Gave Me. Today I Cleaned It For The First Time And It Slipped Out Of My Hands
Time to stop cleaning. Everyone knows vases are dust collectors - helps minimise dust elsewhere. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Load More Replies...Always clean delicate things either you're sitting on the floor or the things is stitting on the table. Dust can make things slippery.

Can't Argue With Dyson Ads, It Does Have A Lot Of Suction
One taste of my iPhone cord, and in seconds, it was ripped from the wall and all wrapped up in. Thank goodness Dyson makes it easy to unravel this love triangle.
That's why you keep loose items clear of rotating equipment
Load More Replies...My son bought a house with new carpets throughout. When I bought a Shark (lighter to carry upstairs) I gave him my Dyson. He found out how thin that carpeting was when he hoovered, as it sucked it off the floor and jammed the Dyson. So, make sure your carpets/rugs can take it, before you invest in one, lol (ps: the older models are built to last and are worth looking at. Mine was a DC07- 2001 model, btw). Great for bare floors, though.
Load More Replies...Was that charger just chilling on the floor or did the Dyson rip it out of the wall?
Well, if you read the caption, it says "it was ripped from the wall" so I'm guessing it was ripped from the wall.
Load More Replies...I have wrecked a charger this way before. Now all cords get moved up out of the way as I seem to have different chargers permanently on every other power point now.
Gazzo’s professional tip is to create a cleaning calendar and put aside 15 minutes to tidy up a different room each day. “By the end of the week, your entire home will be decently clean and tidy. If you have more family members, include them on your checklist. If you have kids, make sure their tasks are age-appropriate and easy to carry out. This will give them a sense of responsibility and accomplishment once they finish.”
Shower Door Didn't Like Being Cleaned
Mmm vibrations from the washing machine spinning against it weakened the glass.
Also brave of you to have your washer right up against the shower glass. Hope your spin cycle does not get out of balance. PANDAS - Square toilet looks odd to me (USA) Where are those common??
I was thinking the same thing! I'm in the US (Appalachian Mtns in NC) and we still have people who use outhouses, (I have indoor plumbing) so a square toilet is like some alien sh*t to a lot of us country people lol!
Load More Replies...Intermittent vibrations from the washing machine? Glad mine's in the kitchen, because, 1: flushing the loo with the lid up spreads germs, and 2, not having to constantly carry laundry upstairs.
MOM, I found those birthday balloons; they're in the toilet, by the way the shower door just disintegrated too
We have always had a regular tub but I see a lot of shower doors crumbled like this.

Cleaning Your Toilet With Dishwasher Detergent
Holdup...what goes into one neighbor's toilet can end up in the other residents' toilets also? Including but not limited to--soap?
They are connected to the same sewer line. Also, who cleans the toilet with dish soap? That doesn't do anything, dish soap dissolves grease, and the toilet is not greasy.
Load More Replies...I had a neighbor who poured cooked spaghetti down their kitchen sink which ended up in mine looking like a spaghetti monster begging for freedom.
Who are all these people putting dish soap and towels and q-tips and condoms and stuff down the toilet!!?? Stop it people!!! Toilets are not meant for that.
We once had a waterfall in our kitchen because the apartment above us decided to wash a blanket in the dishwasher!
My 3-Year-Old Thought It Would Be A Good Idea To Spray The TV With Water To "Clean" It
PSA: A GREAT way to clean a TV is with a micro fiber cloth and spray bottle of clean water (distilled probably best but I use my soft well water). Mist a small amount of water on the CLOTH (NOT TV), wipe screen with cloth. If you have not done this you will be amazed at how well it cleans. COSTCO rep taught me that when I asked how they clean their display TVs. He said they sometimes add a very small amount of hydrogen peroxide but I've had such great results with just water I haven't bothered. Obviously - same idea for other screens - phones, tablets. And if it is just a light smudge or two - I often skip the water and just use the microfiber cloth. If you use a dedicated cloth it lasts for ages, meaning I don't have to beat it up in the washer. I bought a bundle of them at costco and I'm still on the first two - one for the TV and one next to my bed for my tablet / reading glasses.
Struggling with is this comment real or you want me to destroy my tv with water.
Load More Replies...Might not be totally ruined. There's a good chance that letting it dry out for a few days would fix it.

We tried to clean the oven one time the day before thanksgiving. It hadn't cooled down enough yet and our door was still locked shut when it was time to cook. We freaked out for a few hours until it finally cooled enough to open. So frustrating.
Seems like an awfully expensive way to get a clean oven, though.

I Appreciate Your Drunken Late Night Attempt To Clean, Random Party Guest, But Wooden Cutting Boards Do Not Go In The Dishwasher
I never liked cutting boards made from multiple sections of wood for that very reason. Often they look nice because the pieces are stained in alternating light and dark colors, but they're only held together with wood glue. Give me a solid piece of wood any day.
Isn't solid wood chopping boards very rare? Unless they're really thick they'd bend. At least I learned something to that effect in school.
Load More Replies...A drunk party guest put the cutting board in the dishwasher. If you mean why it broke apart like that, cutting boards like this one a glued together from different strips of wood. The dishwasher removed the glue holding them together.

I Cleaned My Glasses But Apparently There Was A Small Stone On The Cloth
This^^^ is why I stopped wearing contact lenses over two decades ago. When I reached the point where I had to have my glasses on, so that I didn't put the contact lens inside out on my fingertip, I figured it was time to give up on them.
Load More Replies...No, you can't. It doesn't make a sound like you would think. Trust me, I have managed to scratch every lens on every pair of glasses I have had for almost 5 decades. I even buy the scratch resistant lenses now, they hold up a bit longer, but in the end ... 😕
Load More Replies...I would have cried. My sight is bad. I keep spare contacts in case my glasses break 😀
When I had glasses made, I got two spare pairs. Two are gradual bifocals, one is all distance and for driving. I still have all three, though one pair needs a new frame (or the current frame repaired).
Load More Replies...One reason "fluffy" micro fibre cloths are not recommended for cleaning glasses: the cloth can hold smaller dirt grains and scratch up smooth surfaces.
And that is why I regularly clean my fathers glasses for him. At least I can see what I am doing when I am not wearing glasses.

Spent Literally 6 Hours Yesterday Hand-Scrubbing, Soaking, And Vacuuming This Couch. Left My 2-Year-Old Alone For 5 Minutes In The Living Room
A 2-yr-old left for 5 minutes. You are either brave or clueless. 😂 The things they can get up to in only a few minutes ... 👀👀
Yeah really. Taking your eyes off a 2-year-old for five *seconds* frequently leads to disaster. And seriously, why make all that effort to clean furniture when you have a 2-year-old around?
Load More Replies...I think with children either you shrug at your sofa indifferently and toss it for a new one when they turn 18.

Vacuumed Disposable Cutlery Under My Kid's Bed
I stared at this wondering why you whited out the knives. I read Sleestak's comment and looked again and they were clear as day and I could see the plastic still on them.
Well, so it is. At first glance it looked like there was dried mayonnaise (or something) smeg on them.
Load More Replies...Luckily, you can usually find a replacement on eBay (used but good condition) for a decent price. The kids, though. If they get pocket money, maybe they shouldn't until the replacement is 'paid for' by it. A lesson they would likely not forget so easily as just being grounded. ;)
But check if you can cut the damaged bit off first! I found three (!) duct taped vacuums in a shared flat once, all of them had this screw mechanism that allows you to install a new hose.

Used a dyson for the first time ever a little while ago, but fortunately I did the "now how do you empty thing?" maneuver above a bin, because it did not come out where I thought it would
And by the way; do it outside regardless, dust flies everywhere with just a small amount of air current, so yea this would be a "FAIL".

Props To The New Roommate For Cleaning The Whole Kitchen, But She Scrubbed The Microwave Oven So Hard, All The Ink Came Off The Dials
It's ridiculous that on MANY appliances, the ink for measurements/numbers come off with just about any kind of cleaner. I actually test it before I buy. I use hand sanitizer, and if it comes off, it's s**t quality in general. If the company cared about long term use, they would NOT make it so easy to lose the #s. It's a huge red flag.

I just got new glasses for the same reason. Except while they were being made I had to wear my old pair duct taped together so I could see in the meantime. :)
I wish the brand was visible in this picture. I have 2 pair of what looks like the same or very similar glasses that this happened to in the same spot. First time it happened, they were replaced with the same brand and style. The next time I switched brands. Now I'm curious if these were the same.
This recently happened to me...1 day before I was set to fly out of the state...To make it worse, I had a backup pair of glasses ordered that would be arriving the day after I left town. Bless the lovely ladies at the random glasses store that happened to be open and were able to get me a pair of frames to go with my lenses.
when they snap in the middle like that, they're officially junk. literally NO adhesive will stick to the plastic they make frames out of.
My cat did that to mine once. He wacked them right off my face with his paw, and they broke just like that when they hit the ground.

I Spent An Hour And A Half Cleaning The Kitchen. When I Finished I Thought I'd Make Coffee
OP is actually lucky! I used to make coffee in a Italian moka (the small thing that makes coffee using steam pressure by boiling the water). That until it exploded almost in my face 4 days ago, spraying coffee all over my kitchen walls and cracking the ceiling drywall... Time to repaint the kitchen and luckily I "didn't sustain the same amount of damage"!
I've done that more than once. Filled the coffee maker and then forgot to put the carafe underneath. Thank God we both have a sense of humor.
We have that same exact coffeemaker, with the same exact problem.
Wife Tried To Clean My Cast Iron. How Much Alimony Should I Get?

Absolutely. You can take even the oldest, rustiest piece of cast iron cookware and make it almost like new again. Just takes some elbow grease and some actual grease. ;-)
Load More Replies...When men make their cast iron pan their whole identity. My dad did this.
As someone who once did this to a partner's pan, I have strong opinions on this. My ignorance was replaced with knowledge: I learned the best seasoning technique possible and the whys and whatnots. Only then did I fully appreciate 1) why people love their cast iron pans 2) how valuable a well-seasoned pan is to a cook 3) how misunderstood the topic is. While the damage is truly reversable, it takes time, lots and lots of time and proper use, to build up a nice carbon coating.
This appears to be the bottom of the pan--not the cooking surface. "No harm, no foul."

Hey cut OP some slack. Maybe they had a head injury from the first time when it fell on their head and didn't think putting it back up there was probably not the best idea lol

However, it's not the first time a roller blind has had it out for me, because I was at a library (or somewhere like that) when a floor to ceiling length big massive rollerblind decided to fall onto my head and gave me a concussion. :')

I Broke My Boyfriend's Tempered Glass While Cleaning Up His PC, Time To Pack My Bags Because I'm Gonna Be Single When He Gets Back Home
Looks like monitor glass??? Wow, if so. As said, buy him a replacement. It's best not to touch someone else's monitor screen, tbh, as they are so easy to damage if cleaned wrongly. If he loves the OP, I'm sure he'll (hopefully) not say stuff that could end the relationship. 🤞 EDIT just seen a post lower down with a glass insert in the PC case, so ignore what I previously put. *scampers off*
My PC has a glass side panel. Came that way so I tolerate it. But I don't consider it a 'feature'. I also don't care about seeing the lights on my Nvidea graphics card. The metal case on my old Win98 PC is 20+ years old, taken a lot of beatings and will still be fine when I finally toss it in a recycle pile.
Or maybe he just has to accept it as collateral damage since you do his cleaning for him.

What on earth did the person soak them in? We have blinds (plastic) all along our floor to nearly ceiling windows and the slider doors going outside too. I used to take them down to clean, soak, then put back up the next day and I've never had them even slightly warp, lol. Now we just clean each one individually while hanging, because it's much easier. Plus those that were once too little to help now can, and quite enjoy it for some odd reason.
I thought they weren't washable... try dampening them with a spray bottle and water, then press them dry with an iron on low - if they are fully fabric (not plastic-backed). If they still curl, soak them in a fabric stiffener and let dry flat (don't use an iron here though, not good for the iron if its still wet or damp - iron if needed once dry).
How My Knife Broke Through The Glass While I Was Washing It
Apparently glass is less prone to shattering or it shatters differently while under water, I suppose that could have to do with it.
Load More Replies...Why were they washing the glass with a knife? Also, you don't wash flatware and drinking vessels together—flatware, drinking vessels, plates and serving ware, then pots and pans.
If the opening is too small to get down to the bottom with your hand you can wrap a cloth or paper towel around a knife to get into the tough spots. A wrapped butter knife is good at getting into crevices that need cleaning. Key word is wrapped.

Mom Sprayed Cleaner On The Light Switch And Now I Have No Electricity. Moving Out Inspection Is Tomorrow
Did some deep cleaning yesterday since inspection is on Monday. I was writing down a list of things we need for today and I watched as my mom sprayed cleaner on the switch. Not even five minutes later we hear a pop and all of the lights go out. We hoped it would be okay today, but when I flipped the breaker there was a flash pop and lights out again. I’ve resigned myself to losing a third of my deposit to this.
Sounds sketchy... I have personally sprayed liquid cleaners on light switches and I have as of yet had one blow out, catch fire, arc electricity, no wait I have seen an arc. Regardless there must have been a pre-existing wiring issue. Lucky you were moving, good thing no one got shocked ⚡
No, it doesn't necessarily mean there was a pre-existing issue, it really depends on how much liquid penetrated it and what exactly was in it. That switch and socket looks very odd and one could easily see how it would be possible to get a lot of water inside it.
Load More Replies...That's why you spray it on the cloth and not the actual switch or use antibacterial wipes instead.
Just checked, that outlet is only used in the country of Denmark. Not sure how their regulations are regarding house wiring.
That switch already looks shady. I bet it had nothing to do with what OPs mom did.
professional cleaner here. NEVERRRRRRRRRR spray on vertical things. Even better, just never spray on things, as long as its not a foam. Spray on your cloth!
I'm curious as to what happened with your deposit. Did you get it back? Did you just have the inspection during the day? You get a call Hey were the lights working for you? Oh yeah! They were fine why? They aren't working now. Oh bummer. 2 weeks later..Hey I saw your post on Bored Panda and they weren't working for you either. Damn. LOL!! Say it forget. Write it regret it.
Why Did Cleaning My Bathroom Remove All The Finish From My Door?
I cleaned all my bathroom surfaces with just Lysol disinfectant, and put toilet bowl cleaner in the toilet. It was really strong so I ended up turning on the fan and closing the door (to keep the cats out) and left it for a few hours. I did not put anything on the door but when I came back in it looked like this.
because disinfevtant can also be used as a paint stripper. i use it on my models
Ahh, I never knew that. Thanks for the info. :)
Load More Replies...That door was definitely wiped, that isn't just damage from the gas created by the lysol and toilet bowl cleaner. It was a badly painted door in the first place, but the second door is painted with the same paint and it's fine. My brother did this exact same thing in his crappy apartment the first time he decided to go balls to the wall with cleaner on every single surface. He didn't wipe most of the door, he stopped as soon as he noticed what the cleaner was doing, but the wipe marks are pretty identical to this one, and covered about 1/4 of the door after he made a few big swipes with the cloth.
Fumes from the Lysol and the toilet cleaner combined and created chlorine gas. Good you kept the door closed and pets out. Else you would’ve had a dead cat.
Looks like you were lazy enough to not clean the bottom of the door. But it looks like there was a door under there and someone had covered it up with some crapy paint.

You wiped the finish of the door yourself.
It's not completely tragic. If it's on the inside. Try to re- staining it. If it's wood that should work
Was the door painted with Matt paint? If it wasn't, were there any warnings re: corrosive issues, on the back of the bottle? Not sure what Lysol disinfectant has re: 'ingredients' as we don't have it over the pond.
Extra strong solution of hydrogen peroxide, basically.
