Preach! This is my attitude towards my abusers, who said they want me in Heaven with them. I don't want to be there if they're going to be there.
THIS WAS MY EXACT THOUGHT AS A CHILD!!! Forced to go to church multiple times a week, we, like many "Christians" would hear about how all non-believers are gonna burn forever and we would all have a cushy afterlife together in heaven. I was 6yo. 6yo, and I could look around me and say to myself, "These people are awful enough having to be around them when I'm alive. I'd rather go to hell than spend my current life and my afterlife surrounded by these mean, hypocritical people." I'm by NO means a genius, but how was I, at 6yo, able to have more basic insight and common sense than an entire building full of adults?!?!
I applaud this man. What a badass thing to say and final act of rebellion against injustice.
Read this again and remember Western European history regarding Original People. Disgusting.
Juliane Koepcke is a badass! She got a concussion, a broken collar bone, a swollen knee and deep wounds that got infested yet she just kept on walking for 10 days. At times she swam with alligators, but she grew up in the rainforest so she knew that they weren't gonna eat her. At one point she heard heavy birds landing in the distance, which she correctly identified as coming from vultures, when she got there she saw a row of seats from the same airplane she was in. The seats were upside down and the victims in them had their heads buried into the ground. While those people weren't so lucky, Juliane was actually not the only one to survive the fall itself - but she was the only one to come out of the rainforest alive in the end.
Thank you for explaining! My gosh, yup she's a total badass! It's so weird and... Amazing? Exactly people are able to do, physically and mentally, in order to Survive...
Load More Replies...they phrased this as if she just got yeeted out the airplane, not that she was ejected from the airplane as it starated to crash
Is that a record for longest time to complete a marathon? It sounds like a record
The BBC explains that things like dolls, mannequins, and clowns are things that many people find to be extremely creepy. These are things that are meant to be innocent, however, our brains interpret them as potentially dangerous. They’re meant to be humanlike, but they fall short.
In short, we’re bombarded with mixed messages about what’s actually safe or not. For instance, a clown is meant to symbolize happiness and humor, but in popular media, they’re often portrayed as malevolent beings.
I Met some people who knew him. Raymond Robinson lived near South Park in Pittsburgh. Blinded by the accident, he lived with his parents. He wandered along Corrigan Road at night. They said he was a very nice and kind man.
We had a similar case in my country. A disfigured after an accident man was living in a small town. He was the target of bullying or mockery by some local rednecks. But one night he snapped and started throwing stones at them. These SOBs called the cops on him. However witnesses and cameras proved who was the culprit. His story became known and someone gave a job to him, while a surgeon offered to give him as new face.
I wonder about the circumstances of this photo. Did someone just stop him and take a photo of him without his permission?
I met a guy that had been severely burned as a child which resulted in scarring over most of his body. He would stop at the gas station i worked at in the middle of the night. Incredibly kind, very personable, but due to doing the same as the guy in the post, not enough people would encounter this precious soul.
The crimes that committed in the name of various gods is immeasurable. And no excuse is accepted when given by religious people. They are meaningless.
Fortunately, they didn't poke out her eyes which happens to a lot of women there. But still, this level of cruelty is below even the nastiest of animals. You wonder how these people can do such horrific things to another human being and feel justified?
She is so inspiring!... I cannot comprehend the absolute cruelty of some people. I have facial scars from my own attack but I can hide them now with special makeup. But to lose your nose? Our faces are one of the ways we communicate... The Main Way? Like disgust if you've just seen something nasty and you crinkle your nose/face... As a female? I definitely feel for her and she looks amazing now with that beautiful smile 💜
Ooohhhh, unknowable Universe! So amazing! It's a good thing no one would just make this stuff up!
Even if they did, that's no reason for you to be an a**e about it. This kind of story does no harm, and can bring hope. So don't be a jerk. I respect your right to be a cynic, just keep it to yourself if you can't say something nice.
Load More Replies...When my father was dying of cancer, the doctor had him pretty doped up for the pain. During this time, his estranged sister died unexpectedly. We didn't tell my dad because he was so out of it, we didn't think he would hear. The next day, my dad suddenly woke up and shouted his dead sister's name and said, "I'll be right there". He died the next morning.
I lost my grandad, at his funeral my strong Scottish granny was in a wheelchair and kept asking where he was. 8 weeks later I was at her funeral. I'm not sure what hurt more, losing them so close together or seeing my father so broken I was afraid he'd be next.
There are countless stories of these experiences - I had one with my late uncle. My favorite retells are from listening to Mysterious Universe.
How do you know it's fake? I'm not saying it is true, but I am wondering why you think it is fake. I had something similar happen to me when I was 10. I dreamt my grandpa was sitting on the edge of my bed, which was weird because he lived 5 states away and we were not close. When I woke up, (I was a late sleeper and it was summer) my mom told me he had passed away the night before. He didn't tell me he was dead in the dream or anything but it was the only time I've ever dreamt of him.
Load More Replies...People react to scary, stressful, and threatening situations very differently. The two most widely known responses are fight or flight, i.e. squaring up to fight off a threat or running away from it (like Shaggy and Scooby-Doo often do). However, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Research shows that there are two other main responses to these sorts of situations. Namely, the freeze and fawn responses.
Acquitted?? And it is a coincidence (if true, which I doubt), but not so unlikely considering how widespread femicide are and have been.
acquitted? Then they weren't killed by men with the same name.

Okaaaaay... it's all "Oh, could happen... not an unusual thing..." UNTIL it the 'murdered by a guy named Thornton' part. okay. What the heck. Seriously.
So a timetraveling or immortal serial killer? Is that what you are suggesting?
It is, but unfortunately this scold's bridle has been replaced by the internet and legislation in some countries.
Load More Replies...Not so much a punishment for 'gossip' as for being outspoken, opinionated, talking back to men. Other comments note that some so-called torture devices were horror stories manufactured after the fact to shock later generations, but the scold's bridle has never been in dispute. It's well established as having been pretty common punishment, and one that was meted out only by men and only to women.
A lot of so called medieval torture devices were faked in the Victorian era to tittilate the palates and shock the morally upstanding. Things like the Iron Maiden and the Chastity Belt were not in regular use.
Regardless, there were many punishments for woman specifically to address behavior considered ‘unseemly”, including committing them to asylums just for being “difficult”. “Difficult” or “unseemly” included speaking out of turn or “lecturing” one’s husband. It has only been very recently that women (and only in some countries) have overcome these restrictions. And look what is happening. A lot of men are having a FIT about it and saying THEY are being repressed. They aren’t, they just aren’t getting their own way 100% of the time any more. The rise of the Taliban and other misogynistic groups in hyper religious countries, incels in western societies and “project” 2025” here in the states are the result of this.
Load More Replies...Apparently in Scotland and England, "Whilst use of the scold’s bridle was never a legalised form of punishment, it was used by town councils, kirk sessions and barony courts in Scotland, who assumed a right to inflict it." https://www.nts.org.uk/stories/hold-yer-tongue

That picture is haunting. It looks real, like she's been crying. How absolutely horrific and heartbreaking.
Project 2025 is socially regressive, back to 1492 as it were, so it wouldn't surprise me.
Load More Replies..."Women were so much happier before feminism! We should go back to the good old days!"

Load More Replies...In first grade, the teacher made students who talked too much in class wear big lips cut out of paper and colored like red lips for any MOTORMOUTH. There was also a paper tail (like a horse's tail) for those who were TATTLERS. And the kicker was the DUNCE cap! It was big, white, and pointy and its purpose is self-explanatory. What a field day people would have over those things now!! (My sister had to wear the lips all the time! But she still talks ALL THE TIME!!!)
I was put in the corner for talking too much. Didn't change me at all. LOL.

Some other signs can even include crying in anger or having a burning or knotted sensation in your stomach.
Maybe she was sent to the psychiatric hospital and forced to wear a 'smile mask'. I'm not condoning it... I just sayin', well... I see where it could happen. Although... tea cakes - that's... some scary skill.

For anyone who watched the tv show Mindhunter, that's who they kept going back to interview in prison. Edited to correct the title. Thanks Lizzie
Mindhunter on Netfix uses Kemper quite a bit. Great show, should have been renewed.
Load More Replies...Kemper was extremely intelligent with an IQ of 145. He also stated that being in prison was exactly where he wanted to be and never wanted to be released.
He is quite intelligent, hence the reason the BAU kept interviewing him.
Fair, but imagine how f*****g lucky he was to only lose his memory and left hand 😲
Load More Replies...Stabbing someone there would be incredibly difficult, it seems to me. And wow on the recovery. Amazing.
How is a permanently damaged memory & a paralyzed left hand considered regained all functions?
Meanwhile, a person whose flight response kicks in gets a sudden surge of adrenaline which helps them sprint to safety.
Some signs indicating this response is being activated include feeling restless, fidgeting, moving your arms or legs, and having dilated eyes that dart everywhere.
Ask the mom. When my niece died, me, being well into my twenties, couldn't stand putting her favorite toy in the casket with her. Maybe she or someone had the same problem, and just couldn't do it. Sounds crazy and selfish, but it shattered me even more to see that tucked under her baby arm.
I have duplicate of my deceased son’s lovely that we buried with him.
I don't think the crematorium would accept a doll to go in the oven. They probably gave it back with the ashes.
When I was adopted I came with a cloth clown doll. It was repairable after being well loved but my adoptive mother took it, threw it out when I was in my late 20s but I managed to find a new one via eBay when I was in hospital. Smaller but the same one. What I'm trying to say is that you can buy replacement ones... Especially if they hold special memories for you. They probably did buy a replacement one, just to remember...
Because like, the universe is crudely magic and stuff. Sigh...
Rubbish, I've just looked it up and it was open at least 8 days in September 2024 alone. It looks like an active theme park, open much of the year. Why would they maintain a theme park only to open for 2 days a year, anyway?
It is not an active theme park. It’s open a select number of days per year for festivals and I believe you can rent it out as mentioned above. I grew up just a couple of miles from there and went several times as a child. My parents have lived near there for over 50 years until recently being displaced by Hurricane Helene, and the park hasn’t been regularly active in decades.

"Historical records" about as useful as the statement "studies show that..."
Two writers, Ralph of Coggeshall (died c. 1226) and William of Newburgh (c. 1136–1198), reported on the sudden and unexplained arrival in the village of two green children during one summer in the 12th century. Ralph was the abbot of Cistercian Coggeshall Abbey at Coggeshall, about 26 miles (42 km) south of Woolpit. William was a canon at the Augustinian Newburgh Priory, far to the north in Yorkshire. William states that the account given in his Historian rerum Anglicarum (c. 1189) is based on "reports from a number of trustworthy sources"; Ralph, writing his Chronicum Anglicanum in the 1220s, drew on the account of Sir Richard de Calne of Wykes,[note 1] who supposedly sheltered the children in his manor house, six miles (10 km) north of Woolpit.[4] the Wikipedia article on the Green Children of Woolpit has an entire section that discusses whether the sources are accurate or not and why. But there absolutely ARE historical records. It's just not as short and punchy to name them.
Load More Replies...Don't worry, they were more than likely from a nearby Flemish settlement: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_children_of_Woolpit
Load More Replies...This is a really cool story, and if it’s true it’s apparently probably caused by a form anemia I think.
There are people who are blue tinted in parts of the US South East due to a genetic anomaly; it can be treated with daily medication but some don't tolerate the side effects.
This depends upon what they were eating to survive. If the raw beans were green coloured then it could've changed their skin colour. There was a guy who ate carrots constantly and his skin turned orange coloured. I think it's called - Carotenemia.
Yes, there is a band called Green Children, the name based on this story
Not everyone responds this way to threats, though. Some individuals instinctively choose not to fight or run away. Instead, they might completely freeze up or start fawning.
Someone whose freeze response is kicking in tends to have pale skin, feels stiff, heavy, cold, or numb, feels their heart pounding rapidly, and has an overwhelming sense of dread.
Although this has been repeated on the internet quite a lot, no news source has reported it, and hoax sites say this from the 2014 film hercules.
Thank you for that correction, seriously, thank you for taking out that nightmare fuel.

Lamictal gave me audio and visual hallucinations. Both open eyed and closed eyed hallucinations. Quite irritating. I knew that they weren't real, but it's super distracting when you see a pile of clothes on a chair and it looks like a monster. Then, when you realize it's just a pile of clothes, it still looks like a monster. The children running around in puffy jackets in the summer were weird too. The constant cocktail parties next door at all hours. Hallucinations aren't that bad as long as you know they aren't real. It's just super irritating. Yes, I stopped taking those meds as I was misdiagnosed in the first place.
I had a family member who was having a mental health crisis due to changes in his thyroid; he happened to get taken to the ER on Halloween and the nurses fun M&M outfit looked like a bulletproof jacket to his mind and his paranoia made it hard to get him to get treatment.
Load More Replies...That is not a symptom of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Load More Replies...Because it can take a long time for certain medications to exit your system without medical assistance such as the "antidote" being administered in hospital, usually by IV. Tramadol sent me loopy. Hate that painkiller. If you've been taking a medication for a long time it can build up in your system. Always seek medical advice, assistance or go to hospital if you suspect it's happening to you. Definitely if you're hallucinating or you might be in a delusional state but you are able recognise that you are. Even if you can't? Phone for an ambulance if its getting bad, scary. Better safe than sorry. There could be other underlying causes other than medications.
Y'know, BP, some of the people who write to you might be making things up.
In short, all the stress and fear completely paralyzes the person. You might have felt something similar to a freeze response if you were ever spooked in a dark place or felt completely overwhelmed by a school or work presentation you had to give in front of a crowd of people.
In some situations, running away is impossible and there’s nothing concrete to fight off.

Oy. So, this couple, the Schaps, were going through a separation. The wife started sleeping with a guy named Greg Glover. The murderer did decapitate the guy. Then, he put the head in a bag and took it to the clinic where his wife was undergoing treatment. He set it on the table next to her. So, a very awful, bloodcurdling story already, right? Why introduce lies?

Load More Replies...Meanwhile, the fawn response is a very social instinctive strategy for dealing with real, potential, or imagined threats. The long and short of it is that the individual uses their verbal skills to align themselves with the source of the threat.
This might include agreeing with everything the threat says or trying to be overly helpful, to avoid possible negative consequences. It means giving up your authenticity and morals and becoming extremely flexible for the sake of survival.
Wouldn't it be better to rehabilitate rather than punish? US has a punitive system, reoffending rate over 80%. UK/EU tends to have a rehabilitation sytem. Reoffending rate under 30%.
shh don't let get sense interfere with The American Way. Instead let the poor starve, the criminals reoffend, the children be shot, 30 percent of wealth be held by the 1 percent, women die of preventable causes, there be no public transportation, money buy power in politics, and people DIE BECAUSE THEY CAN'T AFFORD MEDICINE EVEN THOUGH SINGLE PAYER HEALTHCARE IS FOUR TIMES CHEAPER FOR THE US GOVERNMENT THAN WHAT IT CURRENTLY SPENDS ON MEDICARE & MEDICAID![1] edit: forgot our healthcare. All figures given in parentheses are rounded. Methodology: Take Swedish gov's healthcare expenses. (113 billion SEK) Note down. Convert to US dollars *for 2022* using MeasuringWorth (11,200,000,000, rounded up) Now take US expenses - Gov. spending on Medicare and Medicaid alone (1750 billion) Note down. Now calculate how much larger the US's population is than Sweden's (~32.2 times larger). Multiply the Swedish figure by 32.2 and divide the US figure you got by that. (4.8 times more).

Lutz was gross. When they bought the house they bought and all the furniture, even the bloody mattresses the family members had died on. They planned out that whole story
George Lutz was the owner. I read the Amityville Horror book series as a teenager, there were quite a few that I found at a junk shop. He sold a little bit of everything, like old boat lanterns, books, tools etc. I loved that shop! But his best were books....... Dunno why I felt the need to add all that! Btw I've since read that Amityville was in fact all a hoax.

A man took in a hitchhiker in his car. Then the hitchhiker asks the driver: "Aren't you afraid to take in others?" - "Haha no. How high is the posibility, that two serial killers take the same ride?"
Two sentence horror stories aren't the same since I realised they have they same format as jokes- set up and punchline.
"Because I work in a washing facility where I wash police uniforms, and a bunch of them are scheduled for pickup now. But I really have to take a huge dump and don't want to have the police barging in and having to wait in my small office right next to the toilet. It's better if they wait outside."

We don’t just randomly bury the dead. People never had. There were always very specific sites, in every culture, where the dead were interred. This one is just silly.
I live above a funeral home. So this is true for me almost 100 % of the time.
Since I'm in my house I must pretty much be standing over the corpse, so if I go into another room, no corpse... thus I disprove your statement.
