People Are Sharing TV Main Characters That They Just Couldn’t Stand, And Here’re 30 Of The Most Hated Ones
Typically, we love to watch shows and films with main characters we can root for. A relatable underdog who against all odds manages to save the world or an unlikely, awkward hero who uses their humor and charisma to perform incredible feats. Lots of us can’t help but crave a happy ending, and we don’t always see the point in dedicating hours to watching a show where we hate the main character. Yet somehow, annoying protagonists still manage to persist and star in some of the most popular shows of all time.
2 weeks ago, Reddit user Competitive_Owl7085 sparked a conversation by asking for the most unlikable main characters of TV shows, and people did not hold back in the replies. Below, we’ve gathered a list of some of the most insufferable protagonists that viewers have called out, so be sure to upvote the responses dragging characters you can’t stand either. Let us know in the comments if there are any other central characters you despise, despite the plots of their shows revolving around them, and then if you’re interested in checking out another Bored Panda article calling out hated characters from films and TV shows, look no further than right here.

Dr. Phil
What did Dr. Phil do? I've never really heard of him, or anything bad about him...
Load More Replies...Pretty sure he doesn’t have a legit practitioners license for mental health. Or something like that. And also. He’s an absolute parasite.
He has a legitimate degree and used to have a licence, but is not currently licensed.
Load More Replies...Dr. Phil sends kids to be abused at that ranch. How is he not in prison??
Psych professionals want him locked in the same room as medical doctors want Dr. Oz locked in ----- a room deep under a radioactive waste dump, maybe. We have fun speculating where we'd put them after we get a round of "But the doctor on TV said..."
Carrie Bradshaw. Unbelievably entitled, shallow, spoiled and treated all of her friends like s**t. I don't enjoy the show for what it is, it's my favourite hate-watch just to see the new depths Carrie will sink to every episode. Especially heinous was when she got herself into debt by tanking her relationship with the guy who bought and was renovating her apartment and turned down money offered by two of her best friends just so she could b***h out the one that didn't offer. And for some reason that friend ended up giving her the money.
And she tried to cheat on her husband with a guy that she had previously cheated on.
And she replaced her old friend with a younger more diverse version when they fell out.
Wasn't a fan of any of them. They were all spoiled snobs, who would dump men for the shallowest of reasons and then moan about how there were no good men around. All they cared about was fashion and they seemed to act like every minor inconvenience was a catastrophe. So annoying. I hate how Carrie and Big's relationship was portrayed as some big romance but was actually very toxic.
I remember watching a few episodes and I laughed my head off! I was thinking it's a comedy and there aren't people out there like that surely. In the end I have to say there are people like that and just run from them.
100% agree with this! And here l thought l was the only one who felt like this!
Caillou
That bald whiny little punk is the worst.
Hey now guys I’m pretty sure you’d all be jerks to the world it you had cancer at the age of three(edit spelling)
Load More Replies...Have you seen that clip from family guy when stewie watches caillou? sums it up perfectly
I hate that kid!!! My kid loved watching this show and her father is Canadian so his family would send us DVDs..... I was so glad when she outgrew this show!!!! F-U Caillou!!!!
Anytime this would come up on youtube kids when my daughter was watching it I would block the videos....
Don't worry, he grew up changed his name to Saitama and became a beast!
Sometimes, we watch shows featuring characters we wish we could invite over for dinner and become best friends with. Other times, we watch shows revolving around people we would slap in the face if we had the opportunity. But it can be hard to determine whether script writers and creators of a show intended to make their main characters unlikable, or if the audience just collected decided that they hated them.
Certain shows, like Breaking Bad or The Sopranos were created to feature a villain in the main role. But when the audience gets to decide whether they love or loathe a protagonist, there are several factors that can make them much less likable. According to Chris Winkle at Mythcreants, one of the most common reasons audiences don’t feel the need to root for a main character is because they have “too much candy”. This “candy” refers to “anything that glorifies a character”, Chris explains. If everyone is constantly praising the character and everything seems to always work out for them, the audience won’t find them relatable and will likely begin to hate them.
Ross from Friends. I hate him so much. And, he doesn't even eat the smaller friends to assert dominance, which makes him suck twice as much.
Ross had his bad moments and good moments. There were several instances when he did something great for his friends (Phoebe's bike, Joey's kiss for an audition, Rachel and her make up - sure, he was in love with her, etc.). I get why Ross isn't popular but I really feel like he isn't nearly as bad as he was portrayed to be lately on the internet.
I’m gonna do it….I like Ross! I know why people thinks he sucks, but if you think about it, he had the most stuff happen to him to make fun of. Especially in the later seasons. Plus, THEY WERE ON A BREAK 🤪
Judging a tv character based on social norms 20 years ago. I'm glad norms are changing. I think Ross was the funniest character, not because of his old views that were written for his character but because his reactions where funny. Example: he's fine when Rachel and Joey started dating, pivot, his reaction when he finds out Monica and Chandler were dating. Please don't downvote me for having a different opinion.
Load More Replies...There are very few people, very, very few, who eat their friends. When their actions are uncovered they end up in the medico-legal system. Eating friends to assert dominance is most definitely not a character flaw.
If I eat my friends I won't have friends anymore.
Load More Replies...The character of Ross did have significant flaws, but I also found the character to be funny and entertaining.
It's a joke they made on Futurama. Where an alien watches Friends and asks why doesn't Ross eat the rest of them.
Load More Replies..."It's a joke they made on Futurama. Where an alien watches Friends and asks why doesn't Ross eat the rest of them."
Load More Replies...I never could stand the Ross character. And the episode, "The One with the Cop" which includes the "PIVOT! PIVOT" scene as they try to move a sofa up the stairs made me want to throw a brick through the TV.
Agreed. Can't understand why people find the pivot scene funny. I'd have been tempted to thump the prat.

Meredith Grey.
How many 'dead' sisters can one b***h have?
And her saying 'I'm a widow so I'll just have to accept that I have had all the orgasms I ever will' set feminism back like 5000 years.
One if I remember correctly. Lexie died in the plane crash. Maggie, (Same mother, different dad) is still alive. Amelia Sheppard, (Her husbands sister, i.e, sister-in-law) is still alive. And Molly (Same dad, different mother) is also alive.
and all the other Shepard sisters that were never mentioned again are alive too. I'm also confused why bad writing decisions makes a character unlikable? This person is complaining about things that happened to the character rather than the character itself.
Load More Replies...Christina days were definitely the better days.
Load More Replies...Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt) why haven't they k***ed him off yet!? He's the worst, always has been and the show has x-ed off soooo many...Not him somehow. Also, not pleasant to look at either.
Remember that episode where she died for like 6 hours and then came back with all her cognitive faculties? I stopped watching the show then. Sorry, I don't believe in intelligent zombies doctors.
Raymond on *Everybody Loves Raymond*, conceited little bastard.
I never liked the way his parents treated his older brother, Robert. Talk about favoritism and the golden child treatment of the younger brother.
I can't bear to watch this show. It triggers me, especially the way the older parents treat everybody. Not to mention the blatant sexism running throughout.
Load More Replies...I always hated this show. What is so funny about parents who make no effort to hide their favoritism of one child over another.
No but I always loved this show. Robert finally got what he wanted in the end, which thank god he's my favorite, but I think the whole point of the show was how entitled the favorite kid can be. Frank was always funny af, morbidly honest. I know people are going to down vote me, but this show holds a special place in my heart.
Load More Replies...If I’m remembering correctly, he did not stand up for his wife when his mom violated boundaries and treated her badly.
I think every now then he did. But it didn't matter. He didn't so often and his parents just walked all over her.
Load More Replies...I hated this show because it made the wife look like a shrill. They really treated her awful
She was a far more normal and likeable person in the earliest seasons. Then they discovered they got more laughs by turning her into a stereotype.
Load More Replies...Hhhaaaaatteeeed this show. Only the Robert character was any good. I especially hate that this show is how most future generations will think of Doris Roberts, and in person she was so nice and funny and not at all like the psycho &itch MIL she portrayed.
Upvote for the reference to Doris Roberts. She was indeed sweet and funny
Load More Replies...On the other hand, when a character has “spinach”, or anything that creates sympathy for them, audiences tend to like them more. Each character should have a balance of candy and spinach, so they are seen as capable and competent but also relatable and fallible. No matter how unrealistic a plotline is, audiences probably won’t accept a character who is glorified without seeming to earn or work hard for their accomplishments.
Another trait that can quickly tank the approval rating of a protagonist is when they are too hard on other characters. Three common examples Chris notes of this are when they have arguments between other protagonists, when they tease, criticize or give another character a hard time, or when they try to convince another character to handle their personal problems differently or go about their life differently. “Problems in this area are especially likely if there is an imbalance of power,” Chris notes. “If one person is a leader and another a subordinate, then the leader will be held to a higher standard when they get in an argument.”
Peppa Pig.
What an annoying, obnoxious, narcissistic little brat
This is why I eat bacon while watching this show. $crew you, Peppa -.-
Load More Replies...What do you expect from a d!ckhead? Look at the head shape, JUST LOOK AT IT.
Always reminds me of the hairdryer my mum had when I was growing up.
Load More Replies...The episode where she hung up on her friend because she could whistle, I still die laughing lol.
Load More Replies...I love Peppa she's just like the little girls I see as a teacher every day! Funny a bit bratty and a little know-it-all!
That hurts!! People should stop body shaming others🥺
Load More Replies...So basically like every main character in a show for young kids nowadays
Peppa being bratty is part of the genius of this show, im sick of kids characters are always nice, or smart, or always win. Peppa is not always right, is flawed as we all are.
Amazing english teaching material for young children though. Funny, Peppa never struck my nerves.
She's a brat who gets away with being rude and obnoxious. Also, I want to punch George every time he bursts in to tears - which is almost every episode. My niece is obsessed with this show so I've seen just about every one several times.
I cannot believe no one has said Rory Gilmore yet.
Her character started off great, then they turned her into just another ditzy, bed-hopping bimbo.
Load More Replies...Rewatched the show with the wife a couple years ago. Lorelai and later Rory are manipulative, rude, self-centered, and obnoxiously immature. I was so impressed with the writing the first time around and young myself that I never really understood how toxic they were to the men in their lives. They caused so much pain to men whose only crime was loving them.
Lorelei too. It's easy to be "freewheeling" and "independent" when you know that you can always run home to wealthy parents.
Load More Replies...I didn’t care for the episodes of Gilmore Girls that I saw due to Rory. I found her to be snobby, entitled and spoiled with little regard for those around her. She hurt others for her own gain. She also talked in this weird babyish voice.
i loved her so much, i watched the tv series just for her
She was cute in the beginning with redeeming qualities but those were slowly tossed out the window after her high school years...well, they were dumped instantly as soon as she met Logan and left Yale (cause one guy said she wasn't that great at one thing).
Yes I agree. Rory is the worst. But why does no one mention Lorelai when it comes to Gilmore girls? I don't know where to start.. The way she was talking to Jess, like trying to get into his nerves which was understandable under the circumstances BUT she was a grown a*s adult and he was a kid.Kinda made her a loser in my eyes. I mean who talks like that to a kid? The way she refused to underastand that when Jess was driving and they had an accident, it was literally an accident and not Jess's fault. When she completely ingored Luke's no cellphone rule at the diner. The way she treated her mother.. I can spend probably an hour writing examples of her being a very problematic adult. I hate that word but it describes her perfectly
Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory. Went from a clueless socially awkward side character in the first couple of years to a self-centered narcissistic bully. I don't know why they ever hung out with him.
Everyone was so mean to each other. It turned out to be a real bad mood show, which was made worse by background laughter. I still feel like there's something wrong with me when I don't find that kind of humor funny. Bernadette was also a really judgmental and difficult character.
The entire show was based on offensive and politically incorrect, but some how it works. Which is the most wonderful thing about this show.
Load More Replies...It was interesting to watch the development of the character. He seems to be born with a high form of the asperger-syndrom and might be autistic, while suffering from several OCDs. But everytime he realises/learns about an error, fault, problem he tries to move mountains to help or to learn how to correct said fault (e.g. reading emotions or how to act in social situations) - not that it's working everytime. ||| personally I'm impressed by his friends, b/c how they learned to work with him and teach him how to function in sociality. At the same time I'm impressed on the development of him. After the last episode, I randomly watched one episode of each season and the differences are Faszination. ||| so, yes he is an a**e, but he's learning. The series is built like Gaussian function.
This is exactly it. When I first watched the series I was blinded by how much of an a*s he is. I watched it again and was like, "why did I like this" but the more I watched, the more I realized. These group of friends are sometimes aweful to each other, but they always learn from it and make it up to each other. Much more realistic than other relationships on other shows. Plus I have Asperger's and trust me, you don't realize when you are offending someone, but I feel awful about it when I do. Self harm, mentally and physically. Thankfully I have grown from that but every once and A while I will slip up.
Load More Replies...Funny thing, my sister in law is a doctor, and She use to love Sheldon's character just because how realístic it was from a person with severe Asperger.
God this show is so painfully bad, and the sexist humor doesn't make it better at all
OMG!!! What were people watching?!!! One of THE BEST shows and characters ever!!!!
Strangely of all sitcoms The Big Bang Theory had the best finale ever.
Sad that they made Penny have that trite 'happy ending' by getting pregnant, when the character had been categorical in not wanting that. Tired, clichéd writing.
Load More Replies...Pointing this out is like telling someone the sky is blue. He was written to be intolerable. All the characters constantly remind him that. If anyone has a problem with that and write shows for a living please stop. I’m not interested in shows where there’s no conflicting personalities and everyone gets along. Keep your stories of a homogeneous society to yourselves.
Have you seen the versions where the canned laughter is removed? It’s physically painful.
You are aware that they film it in front of an actual audience? There is no canned laughter… I was at Their set and sat through a filming.
Load More Replies...We also tend to have zero sympathy for protagonists when it feels like they caused or are exacerbating their own struggles. For example, if a character is in debt and could easily ask their rich parents to help them out but they refuse to out of pride, audiences might roll their eyes. We won’t feel bad for them as they struggle to find another solution.
There is a fine line when it comes to creating hardships in a protagonist’s life, because if they got themselves into a difficult situation due to being selfish or incompetent, we probably won’t care. But if they ended up with more problems by trying to help or look out for someone else, audiences will usually allow that. Chris notes that protagonists often refuse obvious or simple solutions because it would eliminate the story’s conflict, but audiences will see right through plot holes like this.
Alan from two and a half men
It has been ages since I watched the show, so I have to ask if my assumptions are correct. -- whiny, manipulative, selfcentered, jealous? || I just remember that I thought "get your @ss up and do something about xyz" and "at least Charlie is honest with his intentions" quite often
I'll agree except for the neighbor played by Melanie Lynskey. She was my favorite part of the show
Load More Replies...They’re all flawed people. That’s the whole thing that drives the show.
I liked Alan. Only nice person on the show. I wish he would have stood up to the others.
All the main characters were horrible people. That’s the point if the show.
That’s the issue, I think sitcoms about shitty people doing nothing got old around that time.

Jerry on Tom and Jerry.
Downvotes can get people banned! Knock it off people!
Load More Replies...Yup he’s a ahole, Tom is usually just trying to mind his own business and jerry has to go f it up, when I was little I thought Tom wanted to eat jerry but most of the time that isn’t the case
One of best things about Tom & Jerry is occasionally, Tom won. Not often, but I always it was cool that every so often the cartoon would flip the script.
Itchy and Scratchy on The Simpsons take the antics of Tom and Jerry to an extreme, but they really spotlighted how one sided this cartoon was. The cat was supposed to be the bad guy and the mouse the hero, but too often, the mouse was the instigator of their fights and he took things too far. Even as a kid, I hated this cartoon because it wasn't funny, just mean spirited.
Ally McBeal, she thought she was cute but she was insufferable.
Don't mind me, just covering up a nasty comment. Here, have a kiwi. Hope we meet again soon, traveler. 🥝
Yeah, you do realise the downvotes do that and so this is utterly pointless? Besides, all you do is draw attention to the 'nasty' comment by pointing it out. Often this is subjective as well - which is why downvotes sort it out as it's up to many people, not just one - the one who isn't a moderator.
Load More Replies...As if any professional woman would think like that is astounding to me.
I liked that show when it first aired. Years later I thought it'd be fun to re-watch. Couldn't get through a single episode, Ally was so off-putting. I forgot how over-the-top neurotic so many 90s characters were.
Too nerve-wracking to even attempt watching. I just knew that eventually a strong wind would blow her away, ending the show.
There are some shows that masterfully depict an unlikeable protagonist. Dexter, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and Barry are some of the most popular examples. As long as the audience can understand the motivation behind a main character’s morally questionable actions, we might still find a way to root for them, or at least stay invested in the show despite hating them. The team at Industrial Scripts breaks down how to create an unlikable protagonist without having your audience turn on you in this article they wrote examining how we manage to sit through some of these famous shows starring anti-heros.
Aside from making their motivation reasonable, anti-heros can also win an audience’s affection by being relatable to them. Characters like Tonya Harding in I, Tonya and Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network don’t necessarily act in the best interest of others at all times, but we might relate to the struggles they face in the world. Tonya has dealt with abuse from her mother and husband that make audiences want to root for her, and despite his arrogance and selfishness, Mark’s determination and lack of social awareness can be seen as redeemable traits by some audiences.
Piper Chapman on Orange is the New Black.
Exactly, they even blatantly say many times throughout the series "everyone hates you Piper".
Load More Replies...In reality, she wouldn't have made it unless she was in one of those "country-club" prisons the rich get sent to.
Love the show. But she should of been put in the hole for every season.
Yes!!! Every time I watch I hope she gets it despite knowing how it ends!! Cannot stand her!
Ted from himym is just the worst
Lily is really manipulative in the show, I'm surprised she didn't make the list
Ted was a douche, but i hated the final season, when the mother dies before the relationship can truly start. Yes they, had 2 kids but never married until she gets cancer, then dies.
This character got on my nerves and I could never get into the show because of him.
"Garfield minus Garfield" is amazing. The same concept to HIMYM would have been amazing too. It has other issues that prevent it from holding up with the passing of time but Ted Mosby sucked from the show's premier date.
Tweety bird. I always feel sorry for Sylvester because that little bird is so obnoxious.
Can't relate. You basically just said "yeah he's the victim, but if you tell yourself he's not then it's not that good." Then don't? You can look at everything in a bad light if you choose to.
Load More Replies...I never liked Pepe le Pew. He's a stalker. Leave that poor cat with the white paint stripe down her back alone. She is not interested!

Emily from Emily in Paris.
Watched first episode of first season and NOPE.
Can't believe there's going to be a third season.
At least they cancel the good shows so we have more time to watch this :/
I couldn't even make it through all of the first episode. Such garbage.
Lena Dunham’s character on Girls
HOW DO I UPVOTE YOUR COMMENT A MILLION TIMES!!! Why is duhman not in jail?!
Load More Replies...I always thought the whole part of the show was that they all sucked that's why I love it so much. It's like always sunny, you watch it because the characters are just awful people
What I found most annoying about her was it was like an attention seeking thing she did with all the unnecessary full frontal nudity. One episode they have her outside on the sidewalk in nothing but a tee-shirt that didn't cover her bottom half, like whyyyy?????? And her relationships in the show were very cringeworthy. I never understood what all these men saw in her being her go-to moves were always being as cringy as humanly possible.
I mean it’s HBO, nudity has been a constant on that channel for decades. People were just mad she was naked while not being conventionally attractive.
Load More Replies...100%!!!!! Was hoping someone would add her. There’s an episode where she video calls Adam and pretends to not realise she’s showing some physical tick thing from being stressed or whatever - she VIDEO called him!!! I fking hate her in the show and out
Although I did love that show, her character was pretty much the worst.
I cringe anytime I see this actress anywhere.... especially when she takes her clothes off.
Susan Myers from *Desperate Housewives.* Whiny, childish, dramatic and never took responsibility for ANYTHING, to the point her teenage daughter has to balance the chequebooks and make doctor's appointments for her. She repeatedly screws her friends over if she thinks it'll help her win back Mike, burns Edie's house down and doesn't fess up for years, slutshames Edie while constantly jumping from relationship to relationship (oh, and she cheats on her boyfriend he's in a coma), butts into situations that have nothing to do with her and when a trail guide calls her out on how she's a selfish drama queen, she throws a tantrum and storms off into the woods and the only reason she doesn't die of exposure is because Mike inexplicably manages to track her down. Oh, and she forced Gabby to go on a date with her mentally unstable stalker to try to persuade him to pay Mike's bail and doesn't give a s**t that this could seriously endanger Gabby.
seems you paid close attention to every detail so ... secretly admired her?
Rachel Berry from glee. She was a b***h and never got what she deserved.
Could not stand her. Ever. To the point that if I see her in tabloids I cringe. It’s like I think SHE is this person and I don’t even know her or have any idea. That’s how much I couldn’t stand her, that it ruined seeing her in magazines for me. I’m sorry Lea Michelle. I’m sure you’re an angel!
She literally got everything handed to her, and then tossed it away for something else!
every once in a while i try to watch glee, and then i get halfway through an episode and give up because the characters are just so freaking unlikeable.
Joffrey Baratheon and Ramsay Bolton from GOT. Can't decide which one I hated more.
But at least they were written to be awful. The show wasn't framed around them being a relatable protagonist like most of these entries.
They don’t belong here. They’re antagonists. Not someone you’re supposed to like.
Cersei would be a big one for me. They should had Arya kill her, instead of the dumb lazy death they created for her. She deserved a horrible violent death for all the things she did over the show.
Would have gone with Jaime killing her for being out of control, like he did with the former king. The character ark could have been that he first was a jerk but through his travel experiences he saw what madness Cersei has fallen into
Load More Replies...Side note...anyone watching House of Dragon? That time jump really thru me for a loop thought I missed an episode lol
Me too! I had to keep checking my captions to see who the characters were!
Load More Replies...To be fair, the entire point was for them to be horrible, hate-worthy characters. And it's really difficult to call anyone from GOT a "main character," given how many there were, and the fact that neither Joffrey nor Ramsay made it to the end of the series.
Eric from that 70s show. He’s an a*****e throughout the whole show but towards the end of the series it really ramps up. Wth did Donna see in him??
The point was that all the characters made idiotic mistakes in their relationships, maybe less so for Kitty and Redd. The show is almost educational in its demonstrations of dating do’s and don’ts. Eric was well meaning, and learned from mistakes
Apparently the writers made his character really awful on purpose in the later seasons as revenge because Topher Grace wanted to leave the show.
I was thinking that same thing, he was just trying to leave to go do movies. And that worked out so great for him obviously 🙄
Load More Replies...It perfectly encapsulated dating in small town America. People dating the horrible neighbor because there's only 50 people your same age and 42 of them are already paired up.
He was a selfish, spoiled, immature twat, but I think that was intentional. I do wonder how they're going to be in the new series.
I can't believe I haven't seen Prue Halliwell yet!! She was awful. Eeeverything was about her. Anytime there was a big bad demon out and about it was "the demon is here for me and me alone and I have to be the one to stop it". Like no girl. The power of 3 is not just you. She ruined Pipers wedding and that's the ultimate sister foul. She was awful to Phoebe out of pure jealousy. Always bringing up the past like she was the only one capable of change when she was the one character who literally never grew. Even Daryl evolved somehow! Oh and crapping all over Phoebes relationship with Cole. Yeah he was a demon but she didn't know that at first. She just couldn't be happy for her younger sister because she spent so many years pushing Andy away. Damn I love that show.
Sadly enough that's the actress' ACTUALL personality. Aaron Spelling fired her from 90210 for it and then gave her ANOTHER CHANCE with Charmed. Guess what? She didn't learn. So, he fired her AGAIN.
I like how people say the show wasn't as good after she left but I think the show got better without her. She ruins the first three seasons for me.
Omg what is wrong with you people. Prue was THE BEST... and so was Brenda Walsh btw.
Think she was like that in real life lol. Loved Charmed tried watching the reboot not for me
I think it would have been a fine, possibly even great, show on it's own. Not trying to be a new Charmed, especially since they changed a lot of the base mythology of the original, like making the Elders other witches and letting them know about White Lighters right away! If they just changed the name of the show and maybe used a different term for white lighters and elders could have been a good show about 3 sisters finding out they are witches etc.
Load More Replies...Shoulda been 'Power of Two". I could have done without Prue and Page, detested Cole and Leo got the short end of the stick, his character and the actor both.
I loved that she always had to have the most ill-fiting clothes to go fight a demon. Not a sensible cross runner in the wardrobe!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🥰
Dawson from Dawson’s Creek
I sort of watched this show back in it's original run, but I hated Dawson. I would watch it on Netflix now, but still hate Dawson and would only want to watch for the adorable-ness that is Pacey and Joey (which I can easily find on YouTube, sans Dawson, ideally). Josh Jackson for the win! Fellow Canadian, yay!
I was so confused when I started watching this show. Dawson was sold as the main character, and Pacey is the slightly messed up sidekick. But Pacey was cuter, had real issues ( not just angst ) , and grew way more as a character.
Load More Replies...Aww poor little whiny Dawson. I haven't watched this show since it was on originally, so a long damn time ago. Lol. I can't imagine I'd be able to stomach it today.
This was filmed in my town. I only every watched one episode ever. I always thought it was named after a street here called Dawson Street.
This! From all horrible characters in the world, he´s the worst.
Thank you. The writers made Pacey the one for Joey because the audience hated Dawson so much. Whenever I watch Pacey deal with something or articulating his emotions being the beautiful boy that he is, I think of what Dawson would've done in a situation like that and just laugh my a*s off. Imagine him trying to convince Andie to not kill herself in the bathroom during her breakdown, he would've been the one in mental hospital 5 minutes later.
It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
All five of them are goddamn trash, and I couldn't love them more.
I think they are purposely created that way, and that is the charm of the show.
It's only 1:30 pm right now and I already know this is my favorite comment of the day. Bravo, good sir! LMAO

House. A person like that in real life would be unbearable.
Yes, absolute nightmare to work or be with but too good at his job to get rid of him. That being said I found him to be a pretty likeable character. As a real person he would suck but as a fictional character he was great.
Load More Replies...That's the point of the show. He's supposed to be insufferable, but too good at his job to fire.
House is f*****g awesome. His personality strongly reflects what the rest of us people who see humanity for what they are realistically. Legend character.
Yes. He's unbearable to himself. That's, like, 80% of the point of the show.
Medical doctors find House to be a great comedy. And, yes, in real life, that person would be in prison for attempted murder if not worse.
The thing I liked most about the show that it focused a lot on the fact that people lie...especially to their doctors and in the midst of the chaos they realize they would have been properly diagnosed faster if they just told the truth.
Load More Replies...Seemed like a good facsimile of narcissistic Dr behavior to me- (my ex neurologist for one) except House at least actually figured out what ailed his patients ( every patient's dream)
Ohh.. I have to disagree. He was an absolutely obnoxious a*s, but he was also kind of magic. He helped patients no one else could help. I knew I loved him when I saw the episode where, at Christmas dinner, he drugs his girlfriend's mother. When she passes out in her food, he tells GF "That's my Christmas present to you". That's beyond funny! And it gets funnier after that. He's a d**k but I love him!
Sabrina in the new show.
So bad that it made the whole show unwatchable for me. Which is a shame because the premise was good, the settings and overall atmosphere were well done, the storylines were promising, but then that spoiled, irritating brat in the middle of it all.
I enjoyed the first two seasons, but it went downhill pretty quickly after that. It also annoyed me that Sabrina was such a prude. Like, what's the point of being a witch and being in a religion that promotes orgies 'n stuff if you're not going to make the most of that sh*t? (And that's not giving the actor any flak if that was a moral/personal choice for her, just sayin', it seemed like a waste of good, decadent witchy fun.)
I really enjoyed the actress and her character. Thought she did a great job here. I was sad when they announced they were done with doing Sabrina. Great cast all around.
Same. Soooo different from the 90's show in the best way!
Load More Replies...I loved the original show and I’m definitely not watching the show based on the comics!
Terrible TERRIBLE actress but love the show. By by jove she's awful. But my word it is good. But she cannot act a damn nugget. But the rest are OK. Oh for pity's sake!
Damn near everyone on Shameless, but Frank or Debbie fight for the top spot
I have to "defend" Frank; it's pure character work at its finest as he is a junkie, an alcoholic with no interest in being a father (or only when it benefits earning some fast cash to support his life style) who is just driven to get his next shot, his next high. How he manages all this is quite genius and his demise is also a very logical verdict of how he lived. Debbie on the other hand... mmh... that's a tough nut I still not have a convincing opinion about. She started out strong and I was sure as hell that she might become someone great despite her upbringing. But as nobody really cares for one another in the Gallager famliy (other than when s**t already hit the fan) I was not surprised at all when she became a self centered teen mom who constantly tries to outmatch the others around her. And she always wanted to be loved but she could not deny that she, from all the other siblings, is a female Frank in manipulating others.
I liked Debbie she stepped up in the end. She also got Carl off his a*s and made him go back to school and do something with his life.
Load More Replies...Fiona became unbearable, I was so happy that she was not part of the last seasons anymore
Her constant daddy issues were annoying, and ignoring everyone's advice and getting in s**t anyway.
Load More Replies...Please watch the UK (original) version. That goes for most 'Re-Made for the USA' TV shows
Guess you're referring to the US version. The UK version was pretty good.
Shameless (The proper UK series) is amazing the USA version nope!
Elena Gilbert - The Vampire Dairies.
I can't stand her lol
I tried reading the book and got so annoyed. "I'm so popular. Everyone likes me, wants to be me, wants to date me." Give me a break!
I preferred Katerina Elena was awful. Damon should have got with Bonnie
Something that I feel the need to point out as a responsible Panda commentator, none of these are terrible characters because of the actresses/actors themselves. They're very poorly written, that's the problem. Elena was a typical Y/A heroine, i.e. shallow, oh-poor-me I can't help but fall in love with this BAD but HOT guy, etc... 😖
I didn't dislike her but I found all of the other characters more interesting. Like, the show hardly changed without her there lol If Katherine had been the only one, it would have been better; her character was spicy and troublesome but so fun to watch.
If y'all ever read the series in the 90's books, the TV characters were NOTHING like they were written. L.J. Smith whored out her own creations for money.
Agree. I think they should have cast Rebekah’s actress Claire or Lexi idk the actress name as Elena. Nina would’ve been a good Rebekah cuz of how whiney & immature she was. All she wanted to do was go to a high school dance & be human.
Load More Replies...Elena was like a spoiled whiny popular girl with a holier than thou attitude. I hated how everything in the show revolved around her cuz she’s so special & everyone bent over backwards to make her happy, all the guys fell in love with her & all the villains wanted to kill her. TVD is my favorite tv show but I dislike Elena a lot & was glad when she left the show after season 6.Too bad the plot of the last season 8 was stupid with the sirens. I liked season 7 thou with the heretics, they should have expanded more on that & brought it into season 8.
Walter White. Every choice he makes puts his family at risk, he refuses help out of stupid pride, he’s arrogant, and he wound up getting at least 160 people [taken out]. He’s a brilliant chemist but he’s a s**ty businessman and an evil person.
That's the point of the show, duh! That's what "Breaking bad" means. He is a good guy gone bad, and one of the most complex and interesting caracters in TV history. And also played by a brilliant actor.
Absolutely! He is like Macbeth or Richard III.
Load More Replies...Gotta disagree with this one because Walter becoming evil was the entire point of the show.
It was so strange for me to rewatch the show. The first time around I kept rooting for him thinking he's got his reasons and he'll do the right thing in the end. The second time I noticed that from the very start he was just selfish, manipulative and mean.
If Breaking Bad was set in a civilized country it would have lasted five minutes. The thing that kicks off the plot is medical fees.
Unfortunately, the medical prices in this country are criminal. The reason he had to start making meth was to pay those bills. One chemo treatment can cost thousands.
Load More Replies...247 dead either by Walter White, or as a result of actions Walter took. This includes the plane crash as a result of letting Jane die.
I don't remember a plane crash as a result of letting Jane die. an awful lot of the characters who died were evil.
Load More Replies...Disagree. He is deadly ill and shows what has to be done (becoming criminal) to get treatment in the US. But I know a couple of people that sropped watching the show, because of annoying Sklyer.
Bojack Horseman, though I suppose that's the point.
Some like him but I just hate Andy Bernard from The Office. He's such an a*****e and so annoying. And I'm not talking about season 9 Andy, but regular Andy after his anger management course
He’s super annoying. I love Ed Helms and The office is my top show ever, so I still enjoy him but he’s annoying. Even Dwight isn’t annoying. He’s funny to me. But Andy is very very dim-witted at times but not in a “pull it off way” like Michael Scott who’s a moron lol
For me it was Steve Carell's character. I just could not stand Michael Scott. He is just a terrible person and unbearable to watch
Every episode the Michael Scott was in, I just shook my head and called him a moron. Just couldn't stand how ignorant and completely idiotic he was. The show definitely got better after his character left.
Load More Replies...Yeah, I can't stand the actor either. Wherever he shows up I know I won't like him.
Jess from New Girl. So whiny, so entitled and the worst part of the show.
I could have just watched a Cece and Winston spin-off and been happy
Load More Replies...Elizabeth Keen. I have only watched half of Blacklist but there are many things i don't like about her. Majority of the time she choses the wrong choice of what she needs to do. Its almost comically funny how slow and dumb her decisions are.
How nany people had to die because she was trying to find "the yruth" once your husband gets killed because youre asking too many questions and snooping around - its time to stop looking for "the truth" whats more important? People being died and or finding some information that clearly doesnt wantvto be found
Serena Joy on The Handmaid’s Tale. I just want to punch her in the throat.
Serena is Great character to watch because you hate her so much. There are moments you think she’s going to do the right thing then she snaps back to pure evil like an elastic being pulled. Her entitlement is OFF THE CHARTS. **spoiler** she’s a prisoner and demanding EVERYTHING. that blew my mind but that’s what you’re supposed to glean from it, that believes she’s superior no matter what circumstance she’s in. It’s unreal and makes for excellent tv!
Agreed. She is an excellent actress. She plays that role so, so well. You empathize sometimes and then she makes your skin crawl and then you want to strangle her all at once.

Jack from Lost.
Total POS who was wrong every god damn time.
For me it's Michael Burnham from Star Trek: Discovery. She's incredibly arrogant and thinks she knows better than everyone. She starts a war with the Klingons due to her wanting revenge for her Captain being killed in front of her getting potentially billions of people killed. Then later on she befriends a mirror universe version of her Captain who in that universe is space Hitler who's been responsible for billions of deaths, genocide, torture, slavery you name it. Brings her back to her universe to be best chums with. Then a few season later she starts being a total b***h to her superiors in Starfleet disobeying every order she is given in every single episode. Which I s**t you not leads to her being promoted. How am I supposed to like this main character, even Captain Picard would slap her.
The typical picture of a "strong" woman in the entertainment industry - Does s**t, knows everything better, is as toxic as the inside of Chernobyl... but is always in the right anyhow and gets rewarded. Characters like her are the reason people hate feminist takes on franchises.
Reading the OP's post and the comments I really glad that I've stopped to watch Star Trek in the early 2000s (and well absolutely enjoy to rewatch all those star fleet captains' and crews' adventure from time to time). Figured the "new" Star Trek series lacked massively of the unique and clever spirit. If I want to see 40 mins of battleships fighting in outer space, well Star wars covers that part nicely (no diss against SW!)... and if I want to watch the rest, I'll look out for Vin Diesel, the Rock followed by a high-school movie. (P.s.: not to discredit the Rock's actually fabulous appearance in Voager 🖖).
Strange New Worlds is really good. I have watched Discovery and don't really like the character of Michael Burnham, although I would encourage people to watch it as there are a lot of other characters that are fantastic.
Load More Replies...I didn't mind the stupid "man with boobs" writing of Michael Burnham so badly in the first couple of series where there were epic space battles, Batleth(sp?) fights on the outside of spaceships and general space-rompery going on. But now it seems to have descended into a pit of "how many characters can cry in this episode?". Don't care about the crying, more big fights and explosions please.
Discovery? Oh, you mean "The Michael Burnham Show Starring Michael Burnham and a Cast of Thousands." How a mutineer got promoted to Captain, I'll never understand.
As a kid I loathed Dr Smith on Lost in Space. I didn't understand why they didn't just f****n [take him out].
Lol omg yes forgot about him. Also Nellie from Little House on the Prairie
I liked Dr. Smith but hated Will. He never obeyed his parents. Every perilous tangle he got himself into was because he didn’t do as he was told.
Load More Replies...Jerry Seinfeld. Most of the characters were baaaaad people. Still funny as hell.
Really? I had trouble with Elaine. Great show. Funny in its style. But Elaine was totally obnoxious and her voice. I am not an Elaine fan.
I just loved how in the end they basically got in trouble for everything they ever did.
I think they are just real and natural, the way people generally are without sugarcoating. Most of us are no angels, although we tend to see ourselves as better than we are.
Both my parents love Gilmore Girls and watched it often. I only really started paying attention to it in my teens and I couldn’t stand Rory. She was alright in the beginning but towards the end she just became unbearable. She didn’t realize how good she had it and how often things were just handed to her. She was so used to everything being the Rory show where she was always praised and the best of the best that the moment something didn’t go her way she flies off the handle and makes it everyone’s problem. And she never learned. The revival just showed she never learned or experienced any growth. To me Rory is a perfect example of “big fish in a small pond” not being able to cope outside their bubble and the outcome of not moderating praise and criticism of kids. There’s a reason Rory ended up the way she did and it’s because pretty much every adult in her life acted like she walked on water and could do no wrong. The best example I can think of was when she was told she wasn’t that good of a journalist. Rather than try to improve or ask for tips on how to improve she reacts by stealing an yacht! Yeah the Mitchum was harsh especially since she was just an intern but not everyone any the professional world is going to coddle you and tell you how wonderful you are. Which is all Rory had ever experienced because of her mom, her grandparents, her friends, hell the whole town treated her like some perfect goddess the world should praise simply for breathing. Being criticized sucks and it doesn’t feel good but everyone has to learn to cope with it and grow from it. Her reaction and actions were completely out of proportion and she acted like it was no big deal and anyone who said it was was overreacting. I think my favorite part of that whole situation was when Richard confronted Mitchum about his criticism of Rory and Mitchum pointed out Richard’s hypocrisy. Richard had done the same to plenty of people yet the moment it happened to his precious perfect granddaughter it’s not ok. Which yeah I get it’s his granddaughter but Richard was a hypocrite trying to act all “shame on you” when he’s done the same.
Eddy from Ed, Edd and Eddy, completely uses his friends and annoys people, chats pure shite all for a f*****g jaw breaker
Tori Vega - Victorious
Nancy Botwin in Weeds. Horrible mother and clearly unstable af. By the end of the show i loathed her and hoped that she would fail. Poor Andy
THANK YOU!! She only succeeded by sleeping with everyone, drug dealers AND DEA!
Amy Dubanowski in Superstore I mean Jonah can be a bit much but she is so mean to him and he is probably the nicest person. Then she strings him along for years and wants him to uproot himself across the US and she couldn’t even say if she wanted to marry him or not. Like it was still the beginning of the relationship and was treating it like a 5 year summer fling.
Yes. I liked them as a couple but Amy could have been kinder. She's so mean.
June on handmaids tale. She had gotten multiple people killed through her selfish actions. This current season is just a power fantasy from the writers and ends every episode with her staring at the camera menacingly
I love June! BUT NOT IN THIS CURRENT NEW SEASON. I understand the character arch. I get it. **Spoiler** She’s now lost it in a mental breakdown and is on revenge at all cost. But this current season is NOT my type of show due to that plot line of a character that was victim turned hero. Now revenge at all cost is not what I want to watch. I stopped watching the current season when I used to impatiently wait for new episodes of all other seasons. I’m Sad!
Same! I keep thinking “oh good, she snapped out of it, she’s gonna be the hero again” but then NOPE, she’s worse! I’m going to continue watching though, I’ve got hopes…and also, all the other stuff in the show is kind of juicy too

Gina from Brooklyn Nine-Nine was so bad that I honestly had to stop watching the show because her character just made me angry. How the hell did she not get fired or reported to HR for all the hateful, s***ty things she said to her co-workers?
Really going to h.r. on that same note then how did 2 slobbish cops who basically never stood up keep their jobs....they played games like haloween heist and basically trashed the presinct doing it. I mean all the stuff Pimento did and the pontiac bandit.. Ahh hate to tell you it's not reality TV show.
YES!!! My 99 comrade thinks she's the best and says thats her fave character, but every scene with her in it ruins the episode just a little bit for me. I love that show, but she is the character I hate the most and wish they had left out/written out somehow. I mean that bus was a perfect opportunity.....😂😂
Marissa Cooper from The OC. An all around awful human being.
Jenny Schecter from The L Word
I came here absolutely expecting to see this name. She was truly awful.
Jane from Jane the virgin
James from Twin Peaks. He was so weak and whiny and unnecessarily put a lot of blame for Laura Palmer's death on himself but even more so for Maggie's. His character was so useless and it just got progressively worse even into season 3 because they had no idea what to do with him. And damn that song...
"Oh, I love Laura so much but she's dead and actually I really loved Donna all along I love you so much Donna except Maddie looks just like Laura and I love her so much..." :::cue fretful look:::
Skyler White, such a tremendous buzz kill.
Pregnant mom has the gaul to wonder where her meth-dealing husband is, you mean? The guy who's lying to her about his illness and everything else? I heard the actress got so much flack from fans that she was reveiving death threats and had to go off social media for a while. Once the writers realized this, they tried to make her character less annoying. They needed a villain, so they had to create one via the wife, even though everything she did was perfectly reasonable.
Exactly, just think about everything Walt put her through. That poor woman! She does NOT belong on this list.
Load More Replies...She surely was. The main problem from my point of view was that even Walter was antagonist, people loved him (me included). For that reason she could be percieved as someone who annoyed the “hero” (=villan) they loved and stick her nose to things she wasn’t supposed to. It’s hard to love her character and hate Walter, but she surely was, like you said, voice of reason.
Load More Replies...Funny, first time watching I could not stand her, second round I found her a lot less annoying and very perceptive.
That's pretty much everyone's experience from what l know. It's soooo easy to get carried away by Walter the first time around. And that speaks how good both were in the show. Impressive performances.
Load More Replies...Agree! Skylar was so naive and impulsive (giving money to Ted) but she came around late in the game and made an effort. Marie was naive and ignorant to pretty much everything around her but at least she tried. Hank though, he takes the cake. Hank was a jerk to his wife and underestimated everyone.
Load More Replies...Michael Scott. I do think he is funny from time to time, but god I would hate to have him as my boss. I guess he fits the role though
I respectfully disagree. Michael is the only one that has a heart and soul.
Michael is the worst in the best way. You'd hate to have him as your own boss, but sitting back and watching through a screen? He's hilarious.
Elena from Little Fires Everywhere Zack Morris from Saved by the Bell
Zach was a manipulator,he used his friends. Watch funny or die zach morris is trash
I cannot remember her name but Kerry Washington errked me the entire time of that show. So badly. I watched it because it was excellent but her facial expressions made me so angry. I couldn’t shut up about it while watching it and pausing and saying. “Do you see this. I hate it. Why is she doing this lip thing??”
I’m a huge James Spader fan and watch everything he does, but stopped watching The Blacklist after season three. Just could not stand her character. And I know Agnes was just a baby but my god, I just could not buy that Liz was that concerned about her. She was such a non-entity, the writers should have just written around the actress’s pregnancy. Hell, I don’t even remember her name off the top my head.
Almost all the characters, except for Vic's wife, in The Shield are reprehensible. In Oz, except for Sister Peter Marie Reimondo, every character was evil. Both shows had fantastic casts, from the leads to the supporting cast. BTW, Oz is why you should never commit a crime. Avoiding Oz was the concept behind their advertising campaign to attract more viewers.
I watched Oz years ago. I've never been able to rewatch it. Probably the rawest and most brutal show l've seen.
Every single character on *Succession* is the worst person in the world.
Yes, and we still love the show. Characters we love to hate. So well written and performed.
Tony Soprano! Easily! I loved his character and loved the show, but the guy was a bad dude. I never found myself rooting for him in the same vein as Walter White. Tony was temperamental, vicious, greedy...basically he was a mobster. He cheated on his wife constantly, even AFTER got back with him after a split and after he was shot (whereupon he kinda looked at his family in a better light).
Her colleague even tells her that someone like that can't be fixed. Great concept for a show. He kills people but is upset about his ducks
Load More Replies...I have just recently watched the whole show for the first time! It was freaking perfect in every way as written and discussed by fans and critics since 1999. And yes, he is a horrible man and I was searching all the time for "excuses" to root for him (adversaries were worst, his posse riddled with nutjobs, his mom...) but what he did to Chris was inexcusable and he deserved what had to come by the very end. (yes, that fade to black, to me, is a clear sign that he was shot to death) Watch the podcast by Imperioli and Schirripa!
