40 People Share What Horrible Things That Happen In Society Are Completely Legal
Interview With AuthorNo matter how you spin things, life is fundamentally unfair. Many people recognize that not everything that's legal is moral. But changing society and its laws for the better is an uphill struggle. Though you can strive to empower everyone and create more equality, it’s a long and arduous process.
Redditor u/custom_dream sparked an important discussion when they asked people to share their thoughts about the horrible things that happen that are “100% legal.” Their answers were eye-opening. Scroll down to see what these internet users believe must be changed in society ASAP.
Bored Panda got in touch with the author of the thread, Reddit user u/custom_dream, to learn more about the inspiration behind their thread and to get their thoughts on the problems plaguing society. Check out our interview with them below.

People dying because they can't afford necessary medication.
My infusions cost $9100 each month ,luckily its free here in NZ ,its crazy to think if I had to pay for it and couldn't then I would he 6ft under
My husband is a diabetic. If we had lived in the USA, he too would have died long ago from the cost of insulin.
Load More Replies...All the European countries I know have universal health, so those Euros should be actually dollars. We have a lot of faults, but I've never heard of anybody dying here because they can't afford their treatment, be it insulin, chemo, whatever. We may not claim we have "the best health system in the world" but here everybody can get the treatment, operation or whatever they need, even if they are homeless.
My roommate is a diabetic and when he got ACA coverage and saw how much less he was spending on insulin, he literally cried.
This will always hurt. I owe $7000 in hospital fees because I took my 2 year old to the emergency room because he had a high fever. All they did was take vitals, and give him ibuprofen. The doctor diagnosis was acute fever. Like that's why I brought him in, for a fever, I don't need you to tell me he has a fever, I need to know why. So I left the hospital and one week later the bills started coming in, totally over 7k. One for the doctor, one for the nurses, one for the pharmacy and one for the hospital. Then I called in to get itemized bill and they told me I was getting the discounted bill because I had no insurance. So 7K is the discount bill for 2 hours of hospital time to tell me my son has a fever. Thank you USA.
JFC, that's insane. $7k to tell you something you already knew. And I'm also American, so I get it.
Load More Replies...I was at the pharmacy today and I overheard them on the phone "after insurance $600". I cannot even imagine what medication that would be!
Doesn't necessarily have to be something exotic. I was prescribed something for my ADHD that was nearly that much out of pocket after insurance. I went back to my doctor and got a scrip for an older med that was available as a generic. $10/month.

Your life is leveraged for dividends and if you can't make someone a profit, you are sentenced to death.
Every time someone mentions this, I'm super glad to live in Europe. Costs and systems can vary in different countries here, but no-one goes bankrupt with meds.
I knew someone who stole a car and got caught on purpose so he could go to prison because he was diabetic and could not get his insulin. He said he was treated better in prison than he was on the outside. The moment he got out he was a felon so it was hard for him to get a job that had insurance. So he stole another car just to go back. His sister also had diabetes. She died from diabetic coma because she could not get her insulin.
Medical neglect of children because of a parent's religion
I'm totally in on that one ... where is it? In germany (where I live ... well, try to, but ... anyway...), Doctors can involve authorities that are in charge of minors and can place a legal guardian among or in place of the parents on behalf of the childrens' interests, if parents chose to act against these. Often, jw parents just refuse knowledge about blood transfusions and such, sign the papers unread and walk away if the Doc talks too much. If they refuse, custody can temporarily be taken from them, or permanently. Organ donations, of course, can't be waved through by simply not paying attention, because they change your life and require a certain set of habits, ... anyway, where's where you live?

The last one was in prison for about a decade on drug crime. My mom's half the fam is super messed because of that stupid (many expletives that would be censored) Church.
My mother was a nurse. They had a child from some super conservative Jewish family at the hospital because their child had an accident and was bleeding out. They refused a blood transfusion so it died - survival chances would have been almost 100% with a blood transfusion, but doctors couldn't legally do anything against their decision in such a short time frame. These s**t-parents should have been prosecuted with murder.
They really should! As far as I know, Doctors will get away with ignoring such, or acting as if they don't know, and pretending it being so.

I really don't understand this, I'd do anything to keep my kids safe whether I previously believed in it or not - to refuse a life saving procedure for any reason is baffling to me
Guarantee it still happens where you live, legalities rarely ever matter. Laws aren't there for prevention, they exist to tell authorities what they can and cannot do AFTER the crime has been committed. Some believe they're meant as a deterrent, but rarely is that so.

Not legal in north America which isn't to say religious based medical neglect doesn't happen. There have been many cases where parental decision making has been over ruled by a court.
It is legal in the US. If religion is involved then doctors have no say.

Companies bragging about record profits yet giving no more than 2% raises.
I would make companies give shares to their employees so that they can get payouts like shareholders. Minimum 51% shareholdership for workers. The workers CAN own the means of production!
No they cannot. It is not their money that is invested. Communism has been tried and failed miserably. And if the workers are to share the profits, they run the risk to share the losses as well. And they cannot afford that risk.
Load More Replies...companies bragging about record profits but still claiming inflation is what is driving price increases.
We have really smart system in many Finnish companies. We have a goal, and if we go past it, we got more money in our paychecks. Last month we went about 8% over our goal amount, so we got about 1,50€ more pay for each hour we worked. And this is automatic thing and is completely separate from bonuses or raises.
Remember when the price of eggs skyrocketed. Supposedly due to inflation and a bad avian flu outbreak. The egg production farms a d processors also made record profits. I quit buying eggs.
Forget raises, my company slashed salaries and benefits while claiming record profits.
And raising prices because it's now "too expensive" to produce and/or ship their products. And yet, the prices never go back down once the "crisis" has lifted
Bored Panda reached out to redditor u/custom_dream and they were kind enough to answer our questions and share their opinion on the discussion that they started.
When asked what the inspiration for their thread was, the internet user told us that it was "just curiosity."
"I am very interested in watching online videos of people committing crimes and being caught and arrested/indicted for them," they explained to us.
"It was appealing to me to find out activities that look illegal but aren't," they said.

Members of Congress can commit securities fraud, mortgage fraud, insider trading, take bribes and become multi-millionaires without being investigated or charged for anything.
Members of the House can use the Power of the Purse to intentionally shut down the government as political leverage and still get paid themselves, while withholding the paychecks of 4 million federal employees until their unpopular demands are met halfway.
Just saw 3 minutes of CNN about it. Shame the air traffic controllers can't know the flights those politicians are on and refuse to let them fly home (or to Cabo).

It's not about congress, it's about having money and influence in general. How many years did people know about Harvey Weinstein or Jeffery Epstein?
Because the investigation is done by their own cronies. You're not going to rat on your golf buddy.
Nancy Pxxxxxi doesn't even think we should mind. And she calls herself a democrat. Must think she can take her money with her when she passes.
Almost all campaigns, for both parties, are paid for by wealthy corporations and individuals, plus PACs and SuperPACs that money gets shoveled into by both domestic and foreign wealthy interests. When it comes time to vote in office, politicians vote strategically to make sure the people who pay for their career get what they paid for. It's not direct bribes that give us our main corruption, it's campaign money.
On top of that, politicians are allowed to invest in stocks and be involved in businesses that they then legislate. Look at Joe Manchin and coal. They get rich off this stuff, and vote to relax regulations that make them richer, or that impedes competitors so they can get richer.

There is a family in the UK that do this, l think they are called ladbaby? Anyway they are the most irritating couple, everything looks so fake and set up, really cringy.
Damn those do be some fine flannel shirts in the picture tho (flannel shirts are half my aesthetic, FYI)
Then there are the opposite. People who censor their kids. They're both weird. The first one I'd consider abusive though.
Censoring kids might be abusive too, depending on what they’re censoring and why.
Load More Replies...If you need to make videos to feed your family, go do that. Leave your kids out of it, they aren't your employees or your meal ticket. There is nothing at all wrong with making your money online (in most cases). There is something seriously wrong with exploiting your children who can't even consent to being exploited legally-anywhere in the world. You ARE damaging them by making them be your unpaid employees so you can "earn your paper". Just, no, stop that c**p, be a grown up.

To me, one of the worst is the way the elderly are treated. Especially when it comes to the costs associated with having to go into a nursing home. An entire lifetime of savings will be sucked away by the government, family homes confiscated. And all that after a lifetime of work and contributing to the economy.
The final slap, it seems, is the outrageous cost of funerals and burials. It just seems insane to me. We can’t even die without someone making profit from it. And when you’re alive, it costs money just to exist.
A friend of my mother's spent the money she got off of selling her home on seeing a few primary school friends in Australia, Canada and elsewhere. She had been widow a few years, her kids have good jobs, and she decided to spend it on herself now rather than having to pay it to a nursing home if she ever needed it. ( Over here they are subsidised exept if you have money of yourself over a certain amount.) She's a legend : had not flown before and did it by herself in her seventies.
It's so unfair. People who never saved a penny in their lives are wholly subsidized when going into a nursing home. Not so when you've managed to save something to make life easier when you grow old. Then you have to pay for care yourself until your money runs out. You even have to sell your home if you have one. Holding on to your savings later in life is a precarious thing: if you see a nursing home in your future, better make arrangements whereby you still have access to your money but the authorities can't touch it or you can spend it all while you're still able to enjoy it.
Load More Replies...That's a whole other world right there. We are dealing with this right now with my mother-in-law. She had worked her whole life and was thrifty so she could leave her kids something after she passed.....not any more. The care home is £4,000 a month and the council has decreed that they will take everything (leaving behind £21,000). So my hubby and I signed off our house to our daughters and we will be spending the cash on us travelling. At least we learnt the lesson the hard way!
In the United States, you don't have to sell your house when you go to the nursing home. The government requires you to pay for your own care unless you have less than $2,000, but your home and vehicle are protected.
My father in law lives in an 8k per month assisted living facility and when things happen, the only assistance they provide is calling us about everything. I'm happy that there's communication, but come on Village Park, change the light bulb. The contract stated a maintenance worker who does this for them. That and MANY more.
And yet younger generations complain that older people are being 'selfish' by hanging on to their money and housing. They don't seem to understand that we've seen what happens to people who can't afford to have good quality end of life care.
Government run retirement homes are quite affordable, maybe not fancy but affordable. Private care homes can be very high priced but it's a personal choice to use one.
When you start thinking about all the numerous inequalities that plague society, you can easily end up feeling demotivated, disempowered, or drowning in anger. And while these reactions are perfectly normal, constantly living with them could negatively affect your quality of life. So it becomes important to shift your perspective a bit.
Try to reframe things so that you focus on what you can change instead of constantly obsessing about everything that’s wrong with the world. Taking action and making the world better one small step at a time is miles better than just venting about unfairness.
As psychologist Sherrie Bourg Carter, Psy.D., put it in a blog post on Psychology Today, viewing yourself as a victim isn’t helpful because it keeps you in the past and makes you feel powerless. “Bad things happen every day, but humans can be quite resilient. By stepping out of the victim mindset and viewing yourself as a survivor, you may find it easier to move forward and play an active role in creating a new outlook for yourself,” she says.
Lobbying. It's legally sanctioned bribery
Edit: By "lobbying" I specifically mean corporations giving politicians large sums of money to sway their vote. I agree that there should be a more specific word for it.
Citizens United is nothing but legalized bribery. The US is the envy of corrupt governments everywhere because of it
I don't see why Americans complain about the quality of our government. We have the best Congressmen money can buy!
It's the reason the US has to file taxes. Tax prep companies asked for it to be hard so they don't lose their jobs. True story.
That's where the Supreme Court of the US came into play with Citizens United, allowing corporations (everyone actually) to spend unlimited amounts on elections. Not necessarily directly to the politician, but to his/her campaign, and apart from that, on their own campaigns for a candidate. It costs more than a billion dollars to buy the presidency in the US. More info: https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/research-reports/citizens-united-explained
A lot more is ’legal’ if you have money
just now was i introduced to the fact that rich people literally don't have to follow the rules. Laws are there to hurt the poor.
If the punishment is only a fine, it means it is almost okay for rich people (I had typed 'legal' but of course it is still illegal. Just less so if the punishment is only a blip on your financial existence instead of a large percentage of your monthly budget).
I read once that in Finland your traffic fine amount is proportional to your income. Wish they’d do that here in the US
Load More Replies..."Sorry sir, you are legally drunk." "Well then, come back when I'm illegally drunk, officer."

For profit prisons.
Sadly other countries are thinking about it too.
Load More Replies...Retired/Disabled Corrections Officer (Maximum Security) here. For profit completely run by corporations su*k. It 100% shouldn't be legal. That said, some one is going to profit on government run prisons too. The major industries profiting are the food service company (Aramark is popular), telephone service contract company, and the small commissary food service (again, Aramark is very popular).
The biggest issue is you need inmates to get at that profit, cue corruption in the legal system with kickbacks for heavy sentences for petty crime and bribery in politics via lobbying.
Load More Replies...Several of my friends in prison either pled guilty to crimes they didn't do (mostly, but not all, conspiracy), or plead to more than they had done. Why? Because the feds threatened to charge family members (including children in their teens) if the women did not plead. The government can ALWAYS afford a better lawyer, and if they want you, they WILL get you.
Which are the charges against your friends, so to have an idea of the crimes they didn't commit?
Load More Replies...I have this fear that for profit prisons will turn into slave labour camps and those will eventually turn into concentration camps (killing off people who got abortions or are gay or some other stupid s**t)

It’s also healthy to be aware of the nuances in life, instead of seeing everything as purely black or white. Yes, there is a lot of unfairness in society that can be incredibly frustrating. However, it is not just doom, gloom, and evil that you’ll find in the world. Positive and negative events constantly interweave in society.
“Even if nothing negative is happening in your own life, tragic, depressing stories are rampant in the media,” writes Bourg Carter. “That's not to suggest that you should bury your head in the sand and ignore current events, or pretend that bad things don't happen. They clearly do. However, in reality, what we hear and see on the news and the unfairness that happens in our personal lives are typically outliers in a world of mostly positive, kind, and pleasant interactions.”
Pretty much everything related to health insurance
Just spent half a day dealing with my health insurance company because they assigned me a PCP in a completely different city. American health insurance is so broken.
Just had a call from my insurance company regarding a MRI I have scheduled tomorrow. They wanted to know if I'd be interested in going to a different facility over an hour away, because it would be cheaper (for them). It would also be an additional month of wait time. I said "You want me to wait another month, after I've already waited for eight months, to find out if I have a brain tumor or an aneurysm, so I can...save YOU some money?!". 🙄
Load More Replies...America and sadly my country SA. We have a company called Discovery ( I call them discuntery). They basically reject a lot of claims and they say you are "out of medical savings" or "that is not within the rates" to evade payment. You end up paying like 40% anyway and the hospitals assume you'll get 100% covered so you get assrammed anyway. Public hospitals exist here (Free) but you will probably die due to them being lousy. SA.
Can anyone explain how an insurance company's staff, with no medical training, decide who should get what medical treatment - how on earth does that make any sort of sense?
they look at their policies. It's not about your health its about what they cover. If it's denied you write them a letter disputing the amount. A medical person will look at it. Denied again? Submit another appeal. A committee will look at it. When you submit an appeal they can't do anything like collection or harassment until it's resolved.
Load More Replies...And the fact that eye and dental insurance are all separate from health insurance. Its criminal.
Especially the part where taxes go to insurance companies and big pharma and they turn around and make 1000s× mark up. Either be a capitalist company in the market and give up our tax dollars or make all healthcare into universal health care. They shouldn't get both!!
After my first mammogram, my doc wrote an order that I needed to be scanned for breast cancer every 6 months instead of annually, but my insurance refused to allow it and my doctor tried everything! They simply won't allow it/pay for it.
People in public using their phones with audio on
Would upvote soooo many times if I could, my mom and sister both do this (more so my mom) and it’s really annoying. I don’t get it, why would you *want* everyone to hear what you’re watching?? Like I ALWAYS have my volume down when I’m around people unless they’re watching it too.
This is one level with "profit prisons" and "no affordable food"?
I don’t mind, if I have to, putting up with one person, usually a child with a loud iPad etc, but when you sit in a room and there’s a few people/kids alll using devices at the same time, and one’s on tik tok full ball, someone’s miecrafting full ball the others YouTubing full ball, like everyone has to try to be as loud as they can, it’s called earbuds - headphones I don’t give a F what they called now, just use them
Illegal is a bit of a stretch. I agree that it’s annoying, but criminalizing a something that just goes against your preferred social behavior is not a great way to address the situation. What would even be the criteria to enforce? Doubtful we all have the same definition of volume preferences.
Child marriage.
The majority of states have an age floor of 16 for marriage. Five states have no age floor (which is not good), and 10 have banned child marriage. The lowest legal age, aside from having none, is 15 years old in Hawaii and Kansas. So, yes you are right and shouldn't have been downvoted. However, the US is far from being alone. Far too many countries allow it - or allow a minimum age to be ignored.

As we’ve mentioned on Bored Panda before, many people are raised to believe that life is perfectly fair or, well, at least that it should be. However, no matter how much we strive, we cannot change the world in a heartbeat. Real change takes generations of dedicated work to achieve, and you have to be realistic about this. Instead of thinking just about fairness, it might be a good idea to focus on becoming more resilient so that we can weather what life throws at us better.
Pharma companies posting record profits while many struggle to afford medications.
Because people believe Big Pharma when they say that they won't be able to develop new lifesaving drugs if they have to charge less. Amazing how many people that.
Hopefully you do understand that ”Big Pharma” pay big taxes too, and those profits they make go to research, paying employees, buying materials, making sure production is up to standasrd, securing patents, and eventually lower cost for medications.
Not in all cases they do not. Can we take a look at insulin for a moment here? How about epi-pens? Almost none of the "profits" of those exorbitant costs passed on to patients (even in the few cases where insurance companies cover anything, which many do not) are put back into research, patents or lowering costs. The costs of medications is drastically rising, not falling, and many big pharma companies make record breaking profits each and every year. Have you actually ever worked in medical research? I assure you, employees don't often see that money either. Most pharma companies are pretty shady, they just want you to think they aren't, and you bought it hook line and sinker, didn't you? Big Pharma only "pays big" (in fines, mostly, not taxes) because they make those big profits they shouldn't off the backs of patients who can either buy their medication or suffer. Even in countries where cost isn't passed on to patients, pharma companies are shady af.

some jobs will force you to use vacation time if you're sick because they think sick pay is too much. catch Covid? hope you weren't planning to do anything else the rest of the year cause that time's gone!
only in America here in the UK if your sick your sick you dont get a certain number of days if its for long time you might need a doctors note but you get paid still
I think my company's policy is that I would need a doctor's note if I was going to be off sick for more than 7 days. The school where my wife works wants a doctors note for 2 days or more.
Load More Replies...In Australia, where I work we get 10 sick days per year, that are rolled over into the next year, and so on. The government stopped people being paid out on sick leave when they left/retired, to stop those with illnesses coming in to work and spreading it around, all for a small bonus when they left. I still suffer colds from morons who come in to work sick. It should be illegal for anyone with a communicative disease to go to where it can be spread.
I WISH my job let me use vacation time to cover sick days! We don’t get paid sick leave. Out with Covid or anything else? We don’t get paid at all, even though we’re forced to not work. We have to rely on the unemployment system to get even a fraction of our payment. Id rather use my vacation days than deal with that fuckwittery 🤬
I have never understood this. I can see a company being concerned about the loss of your presence at work and the normal amount of work you do when you’re on the job. That makes sense, though everyone gets sick and everyone needs to take time off to just rest and recharge, ffs. But, whether you work, are on vacation, or are sick, you are still going to be paid the same amount, especially if you’re on salary. You do make extra money on vacation or sick days, you make the exact same amount you’d make if you worked. So why do companies insist on bitching about the money aspect of sick/vacation/personal time?
Due to a recent change in the law, if we are sick during your vacation time, those says are returned to you
My job you get sick...you use sick time (we earn 8 hours a month). Use up all your sick time? Take the two personal days we get per year. Use those up? Take your 3 weeks of vacation. All out of leave? Sucks to be you. Come in sick, or don't get paid.
Dumping raw sewage into the ocean.
Dumping raw sewage in to a fresh water supply is much worse and, yeah that's a thing.
I don't know how it looks elsewhere, but here in Germany we have sewage treatment plants near any bigger settlement and it's surrounding settlements
Oh, we have those too (UK). That doesn't stop the companies claiming that rain has put too much water into the system and they have to dump some out. Doesn't matter that what they're dumping is raw sewage. It's absolutely disgusting. Most of the companies are being forced to lower bills next year, against inflation, to "pay back" their customers for ruining the environment.

Child labor
Mining for cobalt among other things
China has part share in a lot of mines in my area. The workers are really fairly compensated tbh. They also have learnership programs for the unemployed to better their skill set and be able to get a job
That's because your country demanded those conditions and they accepted because there's an obscene amount of money in that industry, because they know they won't get any workers if they don't treat them reasonably ok, because they want to get the know-how before getting rid of their partners, and/or because they want to whitewash their image so as to get something else in the future. China treats their own workers ruthlessly, and their working conditions are virtual slavery. (Not only China, of course, but it's the country mentioned in the post)

Tax laws being so friendly for millionaires and billionaires
The Kings and queens of old never went away. They simply rebranded themselves as "capitalists" and continued business as usual.
I'd make it so a single person can have a maximum of $999,999,999, every cent above that goes to taxes. Simple as that. Nobody needs more than a billion.
Stupid high prices for everything (food, house, gas, medicine, etc.) despite being the same s****y quality.
I hear this a lot from idiots who don't know how money works but blame Biden for some reason.
Why downvoted? Yes, it seems all too common for people, at least here on BP, to blindly believe that there's some sort of 'magic bullet' to control rising prices. I'm not aware of their politics, but always assumed that it was coming from anti-capitalists and equally assumed that in the US these people would be as far on the opposite side from MAGA types as possible. Have I been wrong about all this?
Load More Replies...you are wrong the prices are going up and the quality is going down.
Inflation. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is how it works. So basically, the government needs more money, so they just print more money. However, printing more money makes the value of each dollar worth less, so eventually, everything will start getting priced higher and higher to keep up with the money being printed. Can we learn from history? In the past, this is happened SOO MANY times before. What? You want more moneys? Print more moneys, duh! Well now, since we're all so "rich" now, let's make all the prices higher! Yay!
I agree. Sometimes the quality has actually decreased with the higher price. I do wonder why people drive huge trucks since they are "gas hogs", costing them more money. Besides, depleting natural resources is harmful to our planet and worsens global warming. (Note that global warming refers to melting ice caps, which cause both too hot AND too cold, or weather extremes.)
And to everyone that was downvoted, I'm going thru and giving u an upvote REGARDLESS of ur comment (unless vulgar or something) because EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion and to express it!
If you get pulled over for a routine traffic stop and it's somehow discovered that you're carrying large amounts of cash. Full legal tender American cash, even with a full paper trail as to where you got it and what you intend to do with it. Even in amounts around $100. They can label it as "suspicious" and simply seize it from you. If you fight ridiculously hard, you can USUALLY get MOST of it back, and the rest goes directly to them. They can legally take your money and keep it simply because you have it. I can't believe this isn't talked about more.
It's called civil forfeiture. "...civil forfeiture involves a dispute between law enforcement and property such as a pile of cash or a house or a boat, such that the thing is suspected of being involved in a crime [so not the person, GA]. To get back the seized property, owners must prove it was not involved in criminal activity..." - Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_forfeiture_in_the_United_States

The other day the news came out that a car had an accident and the driver fled leaving the car and 180.000€ in the trunk. Then he went to the police station to try to recover it, he could not justify its origin and therefore ended up being investigated for money laundering.
What kind of "routine traffic stop" results in a search of any kind? I've been stopped at least 40 times (all my fault, tbh, mostly for speeding or equipment violations in HS/uni) and I've never even once been asked to to even consent to a search of any kind.
The more I learn about the US, the more secure I feel in Canada. I travel quite a bit abroad, but I avoid the States...
Spousal abuse is still legal in many places. (Russia for instance)
Unfortunately, it goes together with the fact that it is not rape if it happens in marriage. In Finland it became a punishable crime only in 1994. Sick.
I remember something along the lines, if the spouse doesn't press charges, there's nothing we can do. That was after I called the police bc a friend of mine was beat up by her husband. She didn't press charges and they couldn't/ wouldn't do anything. Now this was 20 years ago. The laws have changed since then, but still 20 years ago was the 2000. Boggles the mind. (Edit: to clarify, this was in Switzerland)
Load More Replies...Most cases in China goes unchecked even if it is legal, because If a woman said she got abuse she will be shamed by friends and family. If a man says he got abused by his spouse, he will be called a coward, so most victims of abuse keep it to themselves. Bullfighting.
Yes, & the dum-dums who run with the bulls too! Unless I'm attacked in the wilderness by a bull, then it's fair game.
The running of the bulls is a tradition in Spain and other Spanish areas, and it’s been going on for decades. So while it isn’t all that smart, it’s still a culture that needs to be respected (and I’m saying this kindly, I’m not trying to be rude or stuck-up, I understand what you mean)

I have never heard the news say anything about people dying due to medical neglect due to finances, but have known countless people die from that than od (and i was a homeless heroin/fentanyl addict who got lucky). Also access to narcan and other harm reduction tools would greatly reduce ods. Narcan saves lives, clean utensils saves lives, easier accessible drug treatment saves lives. The drug over dose issue (in america) is a direct result of the wildly impossible access to healthcare. Rehabs, detours, sober living, are expensive and without money pretty much impossible. Medicaid and Medicare wont cover it and it's impossible for a single person to get. I lucked out and met angels who went above and beyond to help support me while I got clean. I didn't know a single one of them before my sobriety date. I haven't heard or met anyone else that went through the same situation getting clean and off the streets.

This should be higher. The entire animal industry harms so many humans, that even if the animals involved would be feelingsless biorobots, like Descartes famous misconception claimed them to be, the impact it has on human lives and the general environment should make it impossible for them to sell any product at all. It's earned to be boycotted into bankruptcy, as an entire industry, at least three times seperately, but still is one of the most profitable recipients of tax money to ever have existed. And atop, people have the audacity to blame vegetarians for plantations that serve the meat industry only, but happen to be soy, the only food vegetarians know of.

The foreskin is there for a reason. Altering the body the way it was intended to be has no medical advantages.
There have been studies which do seem to show a benefit in lowering the spread of disease, however these tend to be misused by proponents of circumcision. The studies which support its health benefits are mostly done in Africa with heterosexual men, in areas with limited access to safer sex aids and healthcare. While it's shows benefits there, you cannot just apply the findings to different societies where there may be much more effective methods of preventing the spread of disease. For example those studies showed a decrease in HPV, however if you compare HPV rates in the US to the UK, the UK is significantly lower despite circumcision not being the norm. This is likely due higher rates of vaccination, which is a far better way to fight HPV than circumcisions. Just because there appears to be a benefit by doing something doesn't mean it is actually the most beneficial way.

Turning a blind eye to crimes that happen in a prison. I believe that’s a type of cruel punishment.
I could not agree more. Impopular example : I also find societies should let those who abuse kids know what it is like to undergo it, instead of hoping fellow inmates will 'take care' of that.
Statistically, most perpetrators of these crimes already *have* been a victim of them. Perpetuating the cycle of abuse is not helpful.

The thinking seems to be "We'll draw you away from thinking crime is permissible by keeping you in an environment where crime is permissible." Sort of like teaching someone to dress fashionably by confining them to a nudist colony.
Family vlogging (specifically families with children). It should straight up be illegal to do, you're trading your children's privacy for profit and all the while they have no say in the matter and they won't get a single cent from the revenue once they're old enough to ask for it. Time and time again we see child actors grow up with horrific trauma that was inflicted on them from the industry - the trauma from having to be the breadwinner as a CHILD is enough honestly, but then you add on the s**t we know they go through too. And that's and industry that's at least somewhat regulated (not regulated well mind you but it's *something*). What the fuckdo we think children of family and mommy vloggers are going through? IMAGINE being presented with having a camera pointed at you 24/7 by your own caregivers, who willingly put your face, name, and most intimate moments on the internet for anyone to find and use against you AS A CHILD - all the while knowing that you're the reason your family gets to put food on the table and that if you say you don't want to vlog your life anymore it's on YOU for removing the income source. It's f*****g hellish.
I always thought influencers were bad - how weak-minded do you have to be to have someone tell you what to wear, what to listen to, what to think. But then Vloggers that prank their children hopefully have reserved a special layer in Hell, just for them. What they do is abuse, not entertainment. And it's allowed to happen.
That mommy blogger (shudder) was just arrested for starving her children. Where was that?
It seems like every family that has multiples (triplets, quads, quints, etc.) has a damn YouTube channel where they post every detail of their children's lives. Do they not understand how dangerous that is? They show where they live, shop, vacation....and then people comment how much they love the kids and refer to them as "ours". Like "Our triplets are growing up so fast!" from a perfect stranger on the web. It's creepy!
Yea...The parents of these kids skeeve me out. Imagine looking at your kid like a cash cow to do tricks while you count the money...

Watch the Telemarketers documentary. People can call you, claim they're raising money for the police, and keep 90% of it. Or even lie and say they are police officers.
Why would people raise money for the police? Surely Sting & Co have quite enough of the stuff?
Also, I believe in most countries police officers are not allowed to do fundraising - or at least not while saying they are an officer. Exactly to avoid people being scared not to donate.
I'd say this would fall under bribery (not of the specific officer asking but of the police as a whole). 🤔 I don't think this is allowed where I live.

In the company where I work, they have decided to reduce the levels between the employee and the president of the company.
