Of course the Bible or any religious text shouldn’t be in schools. I believe in 100% separation of church and state. But requiring books to be age appropriate isn’t banning them.

True, but banning them IS BANNING THEM. They aren't moving them to another section of the library titled by age, they are removing them from the library because somebody decided they don't think children, that aren't their children, should read them. They must have forgotten that their children, can find much worse on the phone that's in their hand.

You move them from the elementary school library, to the high school library.

So you think a 7-8 year old in second grade should have the same reading material as juniors in high school, or freshman in college?

Except the “progressives” don’t want parents involved. Student changes pronouns? Hide it from the parents. Student wants a chest binder? Hide it from the parents. You can’t have it both ways.

CajunBreaux - Out of the 70,000+ public schools in the USA, please name the ones where this is happening. Please be specific. I'm sure there are thousands, because why such a fuss over 1 or 2, right?! So, to make it easier, you only have to list as many as BP will let you fit in a comment. I'd like to look into this further, as I for one, appreciate FACTS. Thanks in advance!

Calling mothers “birthing persons”, calling breastfeeding “chest feeding”, calling men “persons with a penis”. That’s what people are referring to when they use woke in a way you don’t agree with. There are hundreds of examples like this. A grown ąss college student being “triggered” or needing a “safe space” when they are exposed to opinions and world views different from their own.

Conservatives are snowflakes, holy hell. And so small minded to think that just because they don't personally benefit from changes like more inclusive language, that change has no reason to exist.

What's wrong with those terms? How does it hurt others to use those terms? That's weird that "chestfeeding" is on that list. I am a woman, both by sex and gender. I did a form of "chestfeeding" with my baby because she wouldn't latch at first. A tube was taped to my chest and we used a syringe to put pumped milk into her while we tried to get her to latch. Eventually she figured it out and was simply breastfed. Chestfeeding is a feeding technique, same as bottle feeding. Strange that someone would be offended by that.

Everything is wrong with those terms. It tries to erase womanhood. They try to hide the fact that men and women are different. The word for a person with a penis is man. The word for someone who can give birth is woman.

Intersex people exist. How does using more inclusive terms hurt you?

Why are you comparing those stories to what I said? I don’t want any books banned. I’m not scared of any obscenities. I want kids to learn ALL the history. Racism, slavery, LGBTQ, the fight for civil rights and women’s rights. But the lesson plan for first graders is going to have different material than seniors in high school. Stop arguing something I never said.

I didn’t say ban. Kids in the second grade aren’t ready for the information that would be required reading in college or high school. No books should ever be banned, just age appropriate.

My son was reading encyclopedias when he was 5. No such thing as age appropriate.
