People talk a lot of smack on the internet, and when that happens on social media, then the rest of the world can be fortunate enough to be there to see the glory unfold. From devastating clapbacks to good-natured puns and every other type of delightfully witty reply, a Twitter account called Gems Of Replies is there to document it all - for our benefit.

You know that sensation so many of us get hours after a conversation or argument when we realize - “damn, I should’ve said [X] instead…”? Scrolling through this account is basically the opposite of that as you get to see every moment of glory where someone said exactly what needed to be said.

Homer Hickman was the kid that lived rockets in the movie "October Sky"! From dreaming about rockets as a kid to working his dream job at NASA. Dreams do come true sometimes. Too bad for her but congratulations to Homer Hickman for living his dream.

This is the biggest life lesson she will ever get and probably her biggest f up in life. This is the kind of thing that 50 years down the road will keep her up at night thinking about. She will think about how she lost the internship that could have changed her life and how she blew it with one idiot tweet for the rest of her life.

People have been way harsher on her than Homer Hickam was. He later explained he was not offended and was just giving her advice, plus she later apologized and iirc he decided to help her find another internship. She didnt lose the job because of this but because her friends decided to use the nasa hashtag to bring attention to this. Look it up on Snopes.

It's real but he didn't fire her and was not offended. Her friends got her fired by promoting this conversation using the nasa hashtag

She apologised and he accepted it.. shouldn’t have accepted it and taught her a real lesson.. you never really know who you’re talking rubbish to. Not sure if she was re-accepted. Nobody posted about it after.

🤣🤣🤣 Homer Hickam is famous for being a gifted rocket engineer. A brilliant movie was made about his early years growing up in a small mining town where he tried to build rockets with his friends, launching them with mixed results. Strongly recommended. It’s called ”October Sky”. 🚀

It's not about being excited, it's about using inappropriate language in a public space about an employer. There's a time and place for all things, and what you say with your friends should not be the same things you say at work/in public.

Yes, proper language actually has significance in a professional setting. Maybe not where you work, but at their level it does. He later clarified that he was trying to guide her, he wasn't just shaking his finger at her like the cranky old neighbor who's telling kids to keep off his lawn. Also, F you for being an age-ist a-hole.

It is disgusting that she lost an internship over this. Adults are allowed to swear on the internet and she didn't say anything hateful or offensive so why should she lose something she had been working for all her life because that man who probably has a nice comfy life dislikes her saying f#ck

I think it depends on the context. My native language is almost dead because people gave English too much priority. Now only villagers and old, established families can speak purely in our language, everyone else tries to talk in as much English as possible.
