I would like to change society's outlook towards mental health. People think people with mental health issues are weak. Even if they don't think they are weak they don't know how to help them. All they need is little support. I understand people with mental health issues need to help themselves but support from other people can help them to bounce back

Look where sports are in the priorities, especially in the US, in comparison to arts, music and similar - I don't wanna blame sports or athletes for enjoying and engaging, just the immense ressources thrown at it, and the crippling deprivement of other subjects may reflects something more than good lobbying. I have known people that positively and proudly admitted to look down on people they consider smarter than them, because they "could kick their a*s". In germany, this was.

Religion should not be supported by tax money. People can donate their own money if they want but they should not be able to donate other peoples money to their church. The trick used is called tax deductions. You donate to your church, then you deduct the donation from taxes, now other people have been forced to pay to your church. Listen, the government giving directly say $1000 to your church, or the government lowering your taxes by $1000 and then you give those $1000 to your church is the same thing -- except going over taxes we can pretend there's a separation between state and religion and pretend everybody is free to support a religion or not. It's a real money machine.

The constant sexualization of women and girls must end. End rape and punish rapists. Parents, teach your daughters that they are more than house cleaners and chattels to sell for a bride price, and by all means enroll them in self-defense classes as early as possible. Teach your sons that girls and women are full human beings with the same rights, hopes, abilities and ambitions as males. Men, stop leering, catcalling and making sexual jokes about women; rebuke your male associates for doing the same, and for heaven's sake, keep your hands to yourself. Create a business culture where women's ideas and abilities are taken as seriously as men's are, and where women are paid equally for equal work.

The guys who got cancelled for trivial stuff have all regained their careers. Hell, even Mel Gibson is making movies again. Yes, Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein have been proper cancelled, but they were both rapists. My bigger concern are the people banning books and words through the legal code.

The over vilification of prescription pain medication. I'm a partially disabled veteran with a half dozen blown disc's in my neck and back, and after SAFELY, RESPONSIBLY, and LEGAL taking them in an adequate dose and manner for over a decade, I was suddenly cut off because of the selfish cretins who want to get wasted. And a bunch of them died. To my knowledge, no one FORCED them to use them for the purpose not intended. But I and others like me are the ones paying the price... Doctor either won't give you anything that works (NB I submitted to EVERY non pain pill therapy there was. Nothing worked). Two years ago a hidden heart issue caused a moderate heart attack which precludes me from the majority of OTC meds. Motrin we orked, but it's a big contraindicated. One holier than though pain MD gave me only enough for two weeks and said tough it out. Ny cardiologist referred me to another who gave me a slight increase, but it's not enough. And I'm NOT physically or mentally addicted.

Governmental interference with what a woman does with her body.

I get it. I get the whole "right to life" bit. But if you're looking to reduce the number of terminated pregnancies, restricting (or eliminating) access is not the answer, especially when the rules are being made by old men who lack a sense of decency (not to mention a basic knowledge of biology!)

Other than making sure it's done safely and hygienically, the government shouldn't be involved at all. This decision is between you and your doctor.

There are better ways to "save babies".

I want to change the world. But I'm not sure what I can do.

If you ask me what I would like to change in the world, I wouldn't know where to begin, but I believe we should first start by changing ourselves

There is a saying by Rumi-"Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.'. I believe one step at a time. When we try to be a better version of ourselves, we can definitely help people around us. A change in perspective can also bring a lot of change for the immediate world around us.

TLDR; everyone should be who they want to be, and everyone should leave everyone to be who they want to be... I may get downvoted for the wrong reasons here, but I mean this with the best intentions... I really don't understand why it matters. People can be what they want to be. If you want to be a "them" instead of a "he/she" then so be it. You do you... On the other hand, why should another person HAVE to buy into that?... So long as things are amicable, and no harm comes of anyone, I really don't understand the arguments that happen... So what if I say "he" instead of "them"?... Some people call me the wrong name (they call me Simon, when my name is Sam), should I be offended at that? They're "misidentifying" me?... Anyway, rant over.

Corruption of capitalism, all the niggling little laws that allow the rich to milk the middle class. For example copyright laws that provide protection (and revenue) for 70 years after the copyright holders death. If you can't get just compensation in the first 10 years it wasn't that good. The lack of anti-trust enforcement that allow giant corporations to overwhelm the market and eliminate competition. No enforcement of existing labor laws that allow immigrants and poor to work for too many hours without breaks, overtime or reasonable wages. The list goes on, and on, but if capitalism could be improved we would all be better off.

This one is very serious . Copyright laws on textbooks mean that developing nations can't buy or make photocopies for their students and have to pay ridiculous sums in dollars to get textbooks. Even worse, blind students then can't get the books converted into braille. American copyright law is nothing short of predatory in terms of what it does to the developing world.

This is the only way to get to the children. If they are broken and hurt dont feel the compassion there is no room for learning. but if there is care for the child the child will take the time to learn. Great how you bring this up. It's difficult deciding on just one thing the change. However, if I had to choose, I would choose to change how society has become judgmental and mean towards others. I lump the entitled mean judgmental behavior that I have witnessed, watched videos of and read about these past couple of years in the change. Often, I have found myself asking: "what is wrong with people today?" I miss the days of people being respectful of others. Our society has never been perfect, but things have gotten out of hand lately.

We should have free health care. Free college. And all empty buildings should be made up for the homeless. Honestly the rich should have to give half of their worth over a certain amount to the state they live in for these things. Free food for kids under 16. Free childcare. These should be given to help society. I know people will argue as there are better things to change but if we could equal out the status quo a bit then a leveler ground could be achieved for all to live in harmony. Vote for me for prez. in a school society i would change bullying. kids dont need to be bullying one another. Parents/adults should try and lead by example. This may happen at homes, out in public. Adults are the childs first teachers in life. As a teacher I feel for the kids that are being bullied. Racism due to the fact that some have different skin color. This doesnt change the fact that we are ALL still humans. We need to teach the children love for one another. I have had students transfer schools due to bullies interfering with their education. Often times the ones being bullied are the bright, intelligent students.

Civilization is based on the group making judgements about what is appropriate and then changing what is appropriate as more information becomes available. What is criminal, legal, and encouraged changes based on those judgements. Pedastry was encouraged in ancient Sparta. We've now correctly come to the conclusion that pedophilia is now judged to be a criminal act. Going the other way, its no longer illegal for a black man to vote in Georgia. Both of those are good judgements and lanes that needed to be changed.

From my American perspective, there is far less concern for what is right and just and good (not that it was ever great). Instead the point is to win and to do so at all costs. But I also feels like it goes further. It's not good enough to win, you've got to crush your opponent. Whether in politics or business or matters of faith or education or any number of other things, people are unwilling to accept an outcome other than victory for themselves and their "team."

One of the best pieces of advice I ever heard is "It doesn't matter if you are right if they don't like you." We became the dominant species because we can communicate. Telling 5 people about the bear and getting them to help makes evolution irrelevant because you don't need to wait 300 years for someone strong enough to beat the bear to be born. 5 asthmatics who someone has taught how to use a spear can take care of it. If you're going to send 5 asthmatics to go fight a bear, they deserve to follow someone who can explain why its necessary instead of just blind obedience.

I would end the tribalism of group identity and us versus them. When you're living in a cave and a bear or another group of 10 people 5 miles away were your greatest threat, it made sense. Now, my best friend can be a gay programmer living in Thailand I met through work and the love of my life can be a black farmer from Norway. I'd like us to stop identifying as gay or straight, American or Chinese, nurse or farmer and just be individuals of one group - the human race. Our biggest threat isn't 10 people a couple valleys over. Its the planet dying because we're worried more about the 20 people we know than the species surviving. We need to start treating everyone as part of that 20 and end all -isms like racism or nationalism because we are all the same - scared souls looking for a fair break.

It's hard because in order for the entire planet to get along we would have to become some sort of homogeneous race with 0 differences or ideas. It would be a dystopian utopia if you get what I mean. We need our identity but we also need to be more tolerant of others

Before cell phones, if you called someone and they didn't answer, you could say, "he didn't answer, he must not be home," and that was a normal thing to say.

Nowadays, I wish you could say, "he didn't answer, he must be away from his phone," and it would be just as normal. Instead, people seem to think it's strange if you don't answer your phone for whatever reason (let alone turn it off), or don't respond to a text immediately.

Doesn’t matter if ur a man or a woman. Like Morgan freeman said “ I’ll top calling you a white man, and you so calling me, a black man.” He’s intelligent cause it’s true. He said the way to stop racism is to stop talking about it. We got Disney channel over there turning Pride Family into a literal trash heap because they are inserting stuff about slaves building America. It's much more than just video games, but I would say it's a definite part of the problem, as are shows that portray violence, not to mention the news. Easy availability of guns doesn't help. A kid decides he hates someone and there's a gun there, and his not-fully-developed brain doesn't really comprehend the consequences of his actions. There are many factors. Patanjali said in the Yoga Sutras, "What you see you become." I think it's quite applicable here.

The "system" that was originally implemented to help needy people has unfortunately been turned into "...the more kids I have the more benefits I get" by some thus creating a perpetual cycle of children living in poverty and abuse.

The real problem is that you can't just cut-off benefits to these abusers/baby-factories since the kids will be the ones to suffer and these people know it and use it to their advantage.

And to those of you thinking I'm making this all up: get bent. It's a huge problem, I've seen it firsthand, and it it applies to all races.

Aboriginal Australians would work on average 4hrs/day to gather all the stuff they needed for the day. Imagine if your day consisted of fishing/hunting/gathering kangaroo grass at harvest time (equivalent to wheat). Then when that was done you go back to camp and do a bit of artifact making/getting meat ready/painting/fish trap making then have a big fire and feed with some stories and dancing. Go to bed and repeat. For the woman it was fishing/yam beds/gathering seeds (for bread) and fruit then come back for weaving/painting/bread making. Then retire to the fire for a feed, stories and a dance. Everybody helped with the kids and was seen as a parent (literally a village would raise the children) it would've been paradise

It has changed significantly in recent years. When i was a kid you had to be non verbal to be autistic but these days we understand the spectrum a lot better. My local supermarket has a quiet hour every day where they lower the lights and turn the music off to cater for neurodivergent people. Admittedly society in general could be more accepting of neuro divergent people.

The laws exist. Different countries have different laws. For me a worse problem is the hypocrisy of westerners (I'm african) regarding pets vs food. I've yet to hear a convincing distinction between the two.

We have training, licensing and testing for ever skilled job out there, especially if it affects other people or society as a whole, but anyone can have a child.

In many areas of the world there people who are forced, coerced, guilted or shamed into having children they don’t want or can’t cope with.

If we want to lower crime rates, improve society’s mental health crises, and stop the cycles of both poverty and abuse in the world, we need to do a better job at screening, training, and supporting parents and allowing people who shouldn’t be parents to choose not to be with no stigma, pressure or shame.

Gen Z's way to think the world revolves around them. I am Gen z btw. Like- this culture makes everything about you you you. YOU do YOU. Treat YOUrelf. Take some YOU time, ect ect. Sure all of that is important now and then- but we have taken it way too far. People(of all ages, races, backrounds) are so entitled now. People take extreme offence in the most normal, inoffensive things just because they can- and the will get praised for it!

Like, take the song Scars to your beautiful by Alessia Cara- it's a good, pretty song for the most part. But the one line- "And you don't have to change a thing, the world can change it's heart-". I mean, not really! The world doesn't have to change just to fit you! Not in every case of course- but a lot of the time, YOU are the problem! Believe it or not, there are a LOT of problems out there, that are much much bigger than you.

Disciplining your kids.

Honestly I was in the cinemas with my mom 2 days back. We haven't been in a long time. So as the the big screen was opening up, I could hear the kids shouting and running around. And as the movie was playing, I could hear peppa pig being played on a phone. The parents didnt say anything.

I'm also fuming as I'm writing this. I should've had a talk with those kids and tell to not misbehave and have a word with the parents about them not disciplining their children.

Younger kids should have more discipline so that in the future, they'll know how to behave and not push people buttons.

DISCIPLINING YOUNGER KIDS SHOULD NOT BE FROWNED APON !!!!

Is the term discipline? The way I handled this is to explain to my kids how their decisions affect others. If the kids are running around in a movie theatre it suggests it's not a movie they're interested in. I would assume the parents wanted to see the movie and didn't think beyond their own wants as to how their kids would get bored. So it's about everyone realising that you actually affect those around you with your decisions.

For instance Stonehenge in Somerset UK.

It's been a site of so much human interest. People pay to access like a tourist attraction because it's unknown. It has a mystical quality that links back to the ancients because it still stands from BC. And it stands on a particular spot where the sun shines meaningfully on those rocks at a time of day and year.

To me, it looks like a basic ancient courtroom. Big door for the big tribe and smaller doors for the other tribes. Tribal leaders came to conclusions in full view of their village populations within the circle. And passed judgement.
And in accordance with ancient understanding of the Gods and of the stars. That place held the sun. It's pagan law.
I love history - the above survives today just as much as it did then.

How people of all ages are educated and what they are taught. The training and pay of teachers reflects the importance of their role. 1. People should be taught in small groups, no larger than 15. Student age not a factor. 2. Students' progress assessed by competency benchmarks. Student age not a factor but failure to show competency may mean no further participation on that content until competency demonstrated. 3. At all ages, students' abilities, wishes, needs considered as part of planning progress. Changes can always be made. 4. Student may leave temporarily or permanently when it is clear no further progress is happening, but all retain right to reenter with counselling. 5. Completion of stages marked by significant acknowledgement by community. cf "rites of passage" 6. Focus on literacy and numeracy plus critical thinking in early years 7. In teens: focus on civics, life skills (finance, cooking, hygiene, repairs, for instance) and a broadening participation in community/society. More academic content introduced. 8. Post teens: specialised courses depending on chosen life path.

NINE? THE NINETH NUMBER? Abby LOVES to put Nia (dancer) in sterotypical ethnic roles. The LaQuifa dance? What? Abby really be playing matchmaker with 13yos. It's like Dirty Dancing. However, if we did try nationalise all housing, I guarantee you it would become a hotbed of corruption, where only the wel-connected got decent housing. At least in our system, those who have no money have a place to live and those who have money can buy something better.

Men. We aren’t the problem most of the time. We aren’t trying to hurt anyone and also being falsely accused ruins lives. Women trying to cancel or accuse us just for looking at the gym, women saying that we need to man up. Also we aren’t as emotional and we suck at taking hints. I just wish that people would just understand that we aren’t the problem. Also toxic feminism is a load of nonsense.

Debt relief. It shouldn’t exist and I have a very good explanation.
Now keep in mind that I’m only 17 and not the best with finances but I’ve been taught some of the basics.
We shouldn’t have a student loan debt relief because some people made sh*tty financial decisions before going to college and not saving up enough for your tuition. This stupid student loan debt relief hurts the ones who made the smart financial decisions and aren’t in debt and it’s bullsh*t that some lawmakers want to raise taxes just to relieve people of their debts and that we are the ones paying out of pocket just for the person who ends up in student loan debts financial failure

OK glad to hear you're only 17 and american, because you haven't yet developed compassion. So I am going to spell it out for you. Hear me out. PS I am in africa. Let me start by saying You don't have a good explanation. You have the Republican explanation. It has nothing to do with s****y financial decisions. It has everything to do with a LONG history of social circumstances. Let's say Mr X is born in a lower income area. Is it his fault? No. He didn't choose to be born. Now, say his mom's unemployed and his dad drives a taxicab, say, and makes say $1400 per month. Say they're in NY and most of that goes to rent, the rest to food. They can't afford medical cover, they can't afford movies, lattes, and defintiely can't afford college. Now suppose Mr X has a high IQ and does well at school. He deserves to get into university. How else is he going to lift his family out of poverty? You could say well his parents made bad financial decisions. Message continues in my reply...

As an American and an Amerinidan, I'd like to see our derelict education and social services systems get their long-overdue overhauls. When I went to school on the "Rez" we were given a classical education that included home economics, shop classes, logic and critical thinking, creative arts, sports, field trips to various industrial operations to learn how these works and what products or services they provided. High school was when we used what we learned on our field trips to start hands-on apprinceship training in something we discovered we might like. We didn't just belong to our parents. Us kids belonged to our community too. If your parents were fails, you had plenty of "aunts" and "uncles" who would help support and nurture you. If my country could adopt just one practice from my people, this one would be it.

Sounds like you're getting an earful from men who are afraid they're somehow going to lose something by women gaining equality.
