Or Instagram. Or how people take selfies…especially if they use those stupid filters. Nobody is interested in people’s selfies… I want to read articles and read about people’s thoughts, stories, etc. Maybe see pictures of interesting things or your cute kids or pets. Share your cooking tips/recipes, life hacks…but not your stupid selfies.

Euthanasia of humans should be legal. I think this for multiple reasons. Firstly, we consider it inhumane to keep an animal alive if it will live a life of only pain. Yet it is considered inhumane to euthanize a human if they agree to it and will not recover from physical trauma. Secondly, many people want to kill themselves even with help, medicine, and therapy. If they cannot kill themselves painlessly and successfully, then they could risk permanently damaging their body. Of course, first all other resources should be exhausted to help the individual. Finally, with genetic testing, more people will know that they have a mental disorder which slowly destroys the brain, and they should be able to decide if they don't want to lose themselves.

I work in a vet's office and have wondered this myself. I actually wrote a paper related to this topic in college. Not the euthanasia part but why do humans see themselves as superior to every other species on earth. We named ourselves "wise man" for goodness sakes! We think so highly of ourselves lol. I became a vegetarian after researching for that paper.

Really? Whilst the animals that come to you are euthanised because their humans live them and don't want them to suffer, the vast majority of animals are euthanised because they are unwanted. I have never been able to understand why people run this argument when it is actually an argument against euthanasia if you think about it.

It's been made legal in Canada but still with controversy. There are people who are bothered there are doctors who are refusing to apply euthanasia for various reasons, believing doctors shouldn't have the choice if they want to be involved or not, regardless of their faith and spirituality.

I think that was one of the criticisms in Australia too, but I don't think it should be forced on them, as long as there are enough doctors willing to do it to meet the needs.

I agree with this. However, consider this. In cultures where suicide is legal, there are incidents where family members pressure elderly or disabled family members to commit suicide so they're freed of the burden. I do think people need a right to die, but the laws have to be carefully written. Also note that living wills at least allow people to specify that they must be allowed to die if they can no longer feed themselves.

The way it works in Australia, the family members are not allowed in the room when the person goes through the questions programed into the device where they have to agree it is their decision, freely given and that they understand the consequences if they choose yes or no. The aim is to avoid the family pressure on either outcome, though whether that works I couldn't say, as you don't hear about anyone involved to protect their rights. I guess if the family was that manipulative they would fear reprisal if they did not do it but who knows. The family would probably be ushered out if the person changed their mind and then were distressed about the reaction they would get, by the case worker there with them though.

I had this discussion with a friend last night. I had mine young. She wants to wait until she's established with a career and can afford one. My stance on this is anything can change in an instant. The dad or mom can just leave the family at any point (This happened to my Graphic Arts teacher and my Grandpa.), someone could get fired from their job (and with all the cancel culture and doxxing going on this is happening more than ever), one or both parents could die, someone could get a financially devastating medical crisis (not just with bills but with the inability to work). The list could go on. Prepare as much as you want, but you can't predict the future. If it scares you that much then don't have kids. People make it through. No one's dire situation has to be permanent. Kids are more resilient and don't really understand the family economics to really care. It's not good to give them anything they want, either, so don't worry about not being able to spoil them or keep up with the

... their peers. That's not what's important. As long as the parent is not neglecting their health, providing the basics of survival they are obligated by law, everything else is up to the parents. There are ways around affording their needs, such as thrift shops, hand-me-downs from family and friends (my kid's clothes mostly all came from hand-me-downs until she was a teen), using cloth diapers (or just going with the generic store brand, 1/2 the cost of Huggies and Pampers), breastfeeding (if you can), hand-me-down toys (babies and toddlers don't care. Older kids will get a kick out of their parent's old toys, and they can play outside), puree your own baby food. Kids can live on water just fine. (Juice isn't that healthy as they claim.) Keep treats as occasional treats. They only need to eat when they are hungry and at meal times (some parents let their kids snack all day, and on expensive junk food). I'm also coming from a Canadian perspective.

If everyone waited until they could afford children, nobody would have any. Which, I'll admit, would have its benefits. I don't like this thought that only the wealthy should be able to have children. People live to their means.

It's like everyone thinks the only kids who should be around are rich, spoiled brats who have everything handed to them. I grew up with a struggling mom. I didn't get to go to Disneyland, not even the Discovery Zone. There were times we had to eat oatmeal for breakfast and dinner. I'm glad this was before peanut butter and jam sandwiches weren't* allowed (the most affordable sandwich). There were clothes I wore I got picked on for wearing (not that should ever be an acceptable reason to bully someone for), and there were times it was even rougher. I had no idea what my mom earned. I thought she was just being stingy. Now I understand and have a bit more respect for what she did for me. I grew up knowing you can't always get what you want and that is just dandy,

People have inflated ideas about what children need or the expenses. They don’t need 6 expensive gifts at Christmas or 30 outfits (nor do you…). They need 7 pajamas, 7 tops for the season, 7 bottoms, plus a set of underwear/socks, one pair of sneakers, dress shoes, and winter gear. Don’t buy expensive-go to Walmart or goodwill bc you replace every 6-12 mo for the oldest. The younger kids will get a lot of hand me downs. . 1-2 gifts per birthday or holiday, normal healthy food (they don’t really eat that much, except milk you will go through a lot of it). Until you have at least 3 it’s not going to make a huge impact on your groceries because they will each eat maybe 1/3 what you eat-just means less produce will be thrown out because you will use a bit more. Unless you have several children and need a larger home, your mortgage will not change and you will only use a little more water. We have 4 and probably spend less on clothes/food than most households of 2 in a year.

I can't believe people are downvoting you. You are so right. People think kids need everything brand new. Extracurricular sports can be done through the school, and, yeah, that may come with added expense, but the savings from not spending crazy on the other luxuries can go towards those other costs. Or just enroll them in something from the Leisure Guide. Unless your kid wants to get into an activity for the long haul, and they are serious about it, there's absolutely no point in spending hundreds or thousands on gear and equipment if they're just in it for fun or trying it out but will quit. Canada has free optometry for kids, and there's budget glasses you may be able to get through insurance. Special needs kids, well that depends on the needs of the child but most of it is either covered under provincial health care or the parents can get a credit come tax time, or it can be covered under the parent's insurance plan. I understand it may be different in other countries, though.

This might be an unpopular opinion. I think that if you’ve had the opportunity to get the Covid vaccine and declined, then if you come down with Covid you should NOT be allowed to go to the emergency room and put healthcare providers at risk

If you decline the vaccine, you're deciding to risk spreading the infection to people who might die from it. So when you catch the infection and might die from it, why aren't you willing to suffer the same fate you inflicted on others? Especially if your decision is causing the hospitals to be overloaded with sick people? You decided to put other people's lives on the line. Now your life is on the line. What do you think is a fair consequence for that?

My unpopular opinion is how people come on to this site, answer about an unpopular opinion and then get bashed for it. time and again, not even JUST in this post. People are so rude and angry. It boggles my mind. I don't have to agree with you but I won't call you names and think you're a POS just because you disagree with me. That's what's wrong with this world. If we would just talk about things maybe we could see each other's point of view even if you don't agree in the end it's still not a reason to be nasty and rude. I can't believe how many keyboard warriors there are on here, and if you get angry at this, than it's you and you validated my point.

I agree with you but only so far as we all agree on what an opinion is. An opinion is, for example: yellow is a terrible colour. It is not: such and such minority group don't deserve human rights. If your "opinion" disrespects the right to thrive of certain people because they are different from you, or even their existence, then I don't owe you respect and civility and politeness. Does that make sense?

I have to disagree. Why stoop to their level? I read a great quote once that basically said (not word for word) If I don't like / agree with you, I may not give you a seat at my table. But I still want you to eat. In other words if someone's opinion doesn't line up with yours, why do you NOT owe them respect? By not respecting them you are stooping to their level and they love that. Kill em with kindness or ignore them.

When I was single I refused to use dating apps. I just don't see the, "we met on Tinder" as a cute meeting story. I prefer to meet people in real life where a connection is made not a swipe right.

I always *GASP* when I hear someone met on a dating app, because people on there are sketchy af, and it's always the same people for weeks/months you match up with. No one pays attention to what kind of relationship your looking for. They just assume "long term partner' still means "DTF.

I've always felt the best way to meet that someone special is to participate in groups doing what you love to do. You'll find someone who has the same passions. Rock climbing, cosplay, whatever floats your boat. The person that's a really good match is there doing it too.

You don't have to love your family. Yes, it's considered ideal, but sometimes toxic people are toxic and just because you happened to be born in a specific group of people, it doesn't mean that you're obliged to love them if they keep harming you. They're still normal humans, some of them are just awful people you shouldn't be around, and being related by blood doesn't change that.

I don't care about celebrities dating, breaking up, getting married, or having children...literally everyone in the world does those things. It's not newsworthy just because a celebrity does it. All religion should be abolished. It was invented as a way to explain the stars in the sky or why natural phenomenon like earthquakes, lightning and volcanoes happened. But it was quickly discovered that it was also a good tool to control the masses, so they expanded it to evolve into a tool for obtaining power and wealth. The Vatican is a supremely wealthy nation unto itself for an organization who claims to take vows to live a life of poverty. They are the most successful criminal empire in human history, responsible for large scale murder, rape, corruption, theft and so much more in a bid to increase their power and authority. Religion has been responsible for more murder and crimes against humanity than anything else in human history. It's still being used as an excuse to be terrible to people today. From middle eastern jihads and the Taliban, to China putting roughly 1.8 million Muslims in 're-education camps' to hypocritical Baptists judging others and leaving fake scripture $20 tips for servers. And don't forget the torturous conversion camps evangelicals make anyone who has the misfortune of being gay in their religion go to. And let's not forget Scientology or the Mormons, both of which are equally absurd and cruel and agenda driven. The LDS is well documented for their cruelty to women. I'm sure many have seen any of the many shows detailing the plight of their members and attempts to escape the church and abuse they've suffered. There's a whole underground system in place to rescue these poor people. The Amish will forever turn their backs on their own family, friends and neighbors if anyone dares to step out of line in their church. Religion is no longer about worship and wonder. It's about power, control, wealth and cruelty. Abolish religion and you take away humanity's excuse and motivation to be terrible. Imagine how much more peaceful the world would be without it.

As a person with lots of Mormon family, I can definitely say that there is a lot of social pressure and many beliefs that I don’t agree with which is the case for many religions but that doesn’t necessarily make all religion bad. There are defiantly religious beliefs that I will never understand, but I still respect those that hold that belief. In my opinion, I think each person should worry about their own beliefs and not force that belief in others. Not forcing our beliefs on others and accepting people who are different from ourselves would prevent a whole lot of pain and anguish.

I don't necessarily think that all religion should be abolished, just... reinvented. I personally am religious (LDS) and it provides me with peace. However I agree with a lot of what you said. People have done horrible things in the name of religion, but to be honest I think even without religion, people would still be terrible and use God as a justification of their actions. But I love how more and more people are bringing up the wrongs done by religious organizations because this allows us to change. I hope what I said made sense, and I am in no way contesting you, I just genuinely enjoy being able to have these sorts of conversation. Really gets me thinking (:

I see your point but since religion at least used to have good connotations, people use it as a tool for their own evil. I'll use the Vatican as an example, as Christianity's the one I know best: They ignore the blatent generosity of the bible, not only in the commands, but the central gospel: Jesus came down, though God, to give everything up, even his life, for helpless sinners. If the Vatican truly believed and loved this, they would give. Rather, we see them using religion as a tool for their own gains

There are great educational video games for kids, but there's such a huge cost to their health when they spend ALL their time playing electronic things and never any time outside being active!

Nicely said. I think man can realize a greater reality, and it would be the same realization for everyone, but the whole god-in-the-sky thing results from man wanting to feel some control over the universe, other men, and his own destiny. Plus a bunch of other things related to primitive instincts—greed, fear, anger, and such.

While I greatly admire and appreciate all of my sisters who fought so valiantly for “equal rights” for women in eras past, I also feel that the dawning of feminism has brought on a whole lot more work and pressure for women in modern times. Like, oh cool, you mean we are expected/required to work outside the home AND do the majority of the housework, the social planning, most or much of the child rearing, homework help, and be the point person for school and extra-curricular activities? June Cleaver had a sweet deal! PS. I AM a feminist …. Just a tired one.

But that's the whole point. It's still a lose-lose situation for women, especially mothers, because we live in a patriarchal society. I get more and more tired of this the older I get. And maybe more radical. I start to feel like our only option to "save this" is to just break down all gender structures and start again - but the problem is that our whole society is build on these values of males being the norm and their way of living is superior, including their expectations that women should be in charge of house work and childcare. Women will always need to work double, or triple to meet what is expected of them.

The issue here isn't feminism - it's the economy. The Cleavers could thrive on one income because the economy in the 50s was the best it's ever been, because the top earners were paying huge taxes. Now it's very hard for a family of four to get by on two incomes. As far as the housework, child rearing &c - you can't expect "feminism" to negotiate the terms of your relationship with your partner. That's on you.

Past feminists were amazing and pushed world forward and I totally agree with them, modern "feminism" tho goes too far.. kill all men is not feminism, all the hoohaa about equal compensation for sport stars or movie stars just doesnt make sense, at the end those are businesses revolving around spectators, the ones that pull in more cash to the business get paid more.. Im all for equal opportunities but it doesnt automatically mean equal results, that is earned. And before someone comments, I know there is still lots of countries and businesses that unfairly treat women.

I think cars should be distributed based on driving skills acquired. No more free market car shopping. If you suck at driving you get a piece of crap car; and if you're very good at driving, you get a really nice car. This will also help everyone identify who to keep their distance from on the road.

Driving in general is overrated unless you have a long commute or kids. I found a job last year that's 6 minutes away from my apartment. I have no problem walking a couple minutes to work, have my groceries & necessities delivered, & in the off chance I go out, I get picked up by someone in my party or call a Lyft for a few bucks. Saves a TON of money, but people absolutely lose their minds when I tell them I haven't had a car in 10 years. Ive also lived in 4 different states since I gave up driving. Most people don't actually need cars, they just think they do.

Most teenagers aren't mature enough to handle the responsibility. I live close to 3 different levels of schools. The High School drivers would veer their cars towards the elementary kids walking to school on sidewalkless roads and speed around on their lunch breaks. You call the school to tell them what their students are doing but the school just says they can't do anything.

Big difference between the two. We already have equality (everyone realizing and respecting equal value and right of every human being). We don’t need to be giving everyone the same thing regardless of merit…nobody “deserves” or is entitled to anything. You have to work for things and follow the rules. Plain and simple. A safety net for the vulnerable people who really can’t (the disabled or emergencies) makes sense-but everyone else is capable and is responsible for meeting their own needs. That is fair.

Thing is, people think women are wanting to be treated the same way society treats men. What we want is everyone to be treated with respect and given the same chances of opportunity, growth, wealth no matter what your gender/sex. Some men think if there is equality then violence towards women would then have to be met with acceptance. I'm sure this is meant sarcastically. It still hurts that anyone would think violence towards anyone should be acceptable. How about a man being kicked in the ballsack, or smacked around for making a mistake not be funny and be met with as much shock as a woman being hit!

Yes, and this is why we need equity. Good example! Because it isn't as easy as equality. You have to factor in why it's been this way historically to really make a difference in the future. We need to see the structural imbalance and not just split everything 50/50 and pretend we are done and it's fine. It's not. As long as we keep the same structures it won't be equal regardless. Same opportunities on paper but not in reality.

And if you believe that the OTHER party (whatever party that is) is largely the home of white supremacists or anti-science beliefs, you're just another manipulated sheep following your officers' orders to go off to war on the political battlefield. For instance, you probably believe that people who oppose mandatory covid vaccines are uneducated white people, but they're actually most likely to be black or hold terminal degrees (PhD, MD, JD, etc.).

People need to agree to disagree. People make politics so personal and not everyone is going to agree on everything. Our world is so divisive these days. Everyone needs to stop pointing fingers and work together. Both parties are soo extreme where most people aren't that right or left. We need to find common ground. Every politician says they are going to work to stop the division yet immediately continue to divide once they get in office.

The way the western media industry handles diversity and inclusion is pretty bad. (Note: Before a rabid outrage happens, I mean the execution and display, not the touched topics themself) The "woke" content became boring and reppels the average customer, companies run right into their doom (saved by tax money bailouts) and they created a very hostile environment (mostly online). And while they claim to be "progressive" they hand out leftover scraps to any oppressed group in form of remakes or re-writes instead of creating original content.

The death penalty doesn't need to be canceled in fact it needs to be more enforced upon people with actual solid evidence against them in cases such as murder and rape / child abuse. Explain to me why someone can be recorded murdering or tempting murder, raping a child, raping or molesting a woman and such, but they don't deserve to have a death penalty. We let criminals such as this do multiple offenses, we live in fear of people like them and yet we can't wipe the garbage from our planet? I don't understand

A few arguments against it: Justice systems and the evidence they produce can be imperfect; risky to make a 'final' decision from this! The death penalty costs taxpayers more in the US, since the state exhausts more legal resources into the deliberation. It has a negative moral connotation for society, in that it teaches us to seek revenge and that people are beyond redemption. Even if some people ARE beyond redemption, it doesn't behoove us to favor destructive options. We as a society are more spiteful and belligerent if 'wipe them from our planet' is always a solution.

Again I posted about for sure guilty people there are plenty of people caught on camera, in photos on video and such. People caught doing the crime so obviously should be swiftly put out of society. We're sitting here worrying about pollution, poverty, crime etc and yet we let repeat offenders exist. Time to cull the herd of the evil, cut back on oxygen waste

Minorities and the poor do not receive adequate legal representation. Especially in the southern US. The death penalty is not equally applied.

because it's easy way out. Mission, completed - soyanara! Punishing them to live in solitary confinement with no prospects to get out, have a yard time ALONE for a few minutes - THAT is the most cruel punishment! And there's a humanist reason that if someone harmed another, you people should not stoop at same level - be the bigger person.

I personally dont support death penalty (and our country doesnt have it) but I would like harsher sentenced for serious crimes like you listed, rape, child rape, murder.. I mean maximum here is obviously life sentence but in average that means about 14 years in our country and then they are free.. so unless you are put to mental hospital for your crimes (they can extend the treatment time if deemed not suitable for society) you can murder someone, get life sentence, get out and murder again, get another life sentence, get out again and still you have time to murder someone and get yet another life sentence... Luckily the rehabilitating prison system seems to work and repeating offenders are relatively rare.

Men should not have as much control over women and their bodies (esp. when it comes to abortion) and shouldn't feel entitled to sleep with a woman simply because he likes her. When men say that "remember, men were the ones to give you your rights!" tell them that men should never have been in a position to take those rights away. Most also need to learn that they can't just be a Nice Guy™️ and expect women to be tripping over themselves to get laid by him. On the flip side, women should understand that men can experience abuse, harassment, be manipulated, and get raped. It's not a "female-exclusive" thing. People,in general need to learn and remember that there is, in fact, still racism in America, and that just because YOU personally aren't experiencing it, someone else is. They also need to learn that we shouldn't judge people based on outward appearances, sexuality, race, or gender. TL;DR: People need to realize that things that people think happen exclusively to one gender or one race affects all of us collectively as a common species.

It's not, but women are the one's who exclusively become pregnant if they're raped and are then forced to abide by the b******t laws placed on their body by whatever state they live in.

Wow! That's so unpopular! It's only the position that literally every non-shadow-banned Facebook account, YouTube video, news network and Twitter feed tells you you SHOULD think about her! Here's an unpopular opinion: Yes, there were a few dozen provocateurs, like that idiot "Shaman" who deserve to be deported, but If you call asking Congress to wait for investigations into irregular voting procedures "an insurrection", you're an idiot! You know all those lawsuits Trump "lost?" Courts in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Georgia have now ruled the election procedures were illegal. Too bad legal obstructionists made it take over a year in each case for courts to actually hear the cases on their merits.

The one day, I was just scrolling through tiktok when I found a family with 22 bio kids. The comments said things like “are you not aware we’re going to run out of food in 200 years?” “You are crushing other peoples dreams by taking spots on this earth for their kids” even just outright “DEMON” Big families are for people who hate people who aren’t directly related to them. Adopted big families are for people with a heart for kids and the planet.

The over sexualization of our culture leads to more objectification, sexual assault, rape, unwanted pregnancies and abortions, more kids in the foster care system, broken families, and divorce. It is extremely dysfunctional that the average person is exposed to porn at the age of 12 and that teens are expected to not only have sex, but be good at it, by 18. I don’t even think teens are mature enough to have sex.

I don't agree with the age of 21, but I do think there would be a lot of benefits to putting limits on teen sex. But people view that as their rights being taken away. To me, it's similar to if 13-14 year olds had sex. It's wrong, they are children and not mature enough yet. I feel the same about 16 year olds. But that, I believe, is an unpopular opinion.

I didn't say over sexualization causes rape, I said I think it adds to the problem. I think porn adds to the problem of rape and sexual assault. Maybe you aren't aware of the disgusting and sadistic porn there is out there. For example, necrophilia and rape porn. A kid of 12 or even older being exposed to porn that shows him a woman's consent and boundaries being disrespected in a way that's supposed to be exciting adds to the problem.

My popular opinion is that not everyone should have a drivers license. Teaching someone how to drive a car is easy. You can even teach a monkey how to operate a car. But no one in his right mind would allow a monkey to drive unsupervised on the open road, because it has no notion of the dangers and responsibility it takes to operate a 2000 kg or 3000kg killing machine. Sadly no one is tested if they have the mental capacity and attitude to drive a car responsibly and safely. In my country people pass an exam and get their license. Only when they prove to be a dangerous driver, they get an evaluation if they are even fit to drive. Why can't we integrate an evaluation in the exam? I've been a driver instructor and I had people in my car that I wouldn't even trust with a bicycle. They got their license, they are driving unsupervised, all of them have caused major accidents, most of them have been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

I don't have a drivers license because one of my biggest fears is to hit someone while driving. I tried getting one (license) but realized I was too afraid to do it. It's way harder to get a job in my profession without it because most require it to be able to drive to meet clients but still couldn't do it. I ride my bicycle or walk. I guess I'm not the only one with this fear but it's so normalized to drive today that people think something is seriously wrong with you if you don't.

I end up having to say this in every thread: Churches have no unique status in America regarding taxes. They are tax-exempt under section 501(c) of the tax code which governs non-profit organizations like your favorite political cause, local union, Boy Scout troop, bowling league, many insurance companies, The American Association for Demanding Everyone Who Disagrees with Me is an Idiot, and so on and so on. In fact, companies which reinvest profits to expand market share, like Google, Facebook, Tesla, Amazon, etc., are ALSO usually tax-exempt.

People think it’s a sin to terminate a pregnancy. It’s the mother’s responsibility to make that decision. If a child is created by rape, how is it right that the poor woman should look at that child every day and love it, knowing she didn’t want it? Especially if the woman is just a 14 year old girl? And developing fetuses born with horrid abnormalities that would cost millions of dollars to care for over its lifetime. And who’s going to take care of it when the parents are gone?

I 100% agree with you, especially since there are a lot of people out there who are really, really into father's rights. Getting some pregnant, especially against their will, does not make you a father or capable of being one. Nobody should be forced to have a child that they don't want, let alone one that is a product of rape and forced birth, then forced to have contact with a rapist for the rest of their lives.

My unpopular opinion is that the obsession with STEM education in K-12 schools is a slow moving disaster. Kids can build robots in 2nd grade, but show up to high school unable to write 5 sentences about a robot. We blow technology funding on buying everyone an expensive touch screen laptop, whether they need it, have the means to use it, or use it as anything other than a smartphone esile. I'm not suggesting we refuse to adapt to increased technology use, but STEM, and STEAM (adding an "a" for arts) results in the near decimation of history, government, and civics education. Now we have kids who can develop an app to share the poems they write about robots. Unfortunately, they can't recognize media bias, the constitution, or the march toward fascism that's eroding their rights to do anything.

i always dreamt about integration education: basic knowledge of sign language; how to treat [EDIT: i meant approach, interract and integrate!!!] blind or disabled people. Household classes (cooking, sewing etc.) as much as i used to hate them and was jealous of boys who got to do the fun part - construct something, - turns out was the MOST useful of them all. But children are not yet in the matrix and their learning capabilities are limited. Pick and choose your battles. STEM studies are the only ones who push economy forward nowadays.

Best strategy is to stick with math, reading comprehension and composition until the 9th grade. (Or as they say in the old days, "Reading, Writing and 'Rithmatic.) And a little art, music and civics (how government is SUPPOSED to work, not Marxist deconstruction of institutions. Most high-school science in schools is just correcting the b******t from earlier years. Just wait until kids have the mental capacity to understand it. Most history is propaganda; prior to the '60s, it was enculturation with the emphasis on cult, and now it's just hate-America crap. Literature is a great way to exercise reading skills, but not a replacement for teaching them. Gym is government-controlled, fun-removed recess.

I can get why people would have a problem with that. Why it would be is because it's implying that a family "should" include a dad when in reality it doesn't have to. Families come in lots of different ways. Related by blood or relationships, doesn't matter. With that being said, you do you but don't feel the need to fill a role that isn't necessary.

The Game of Thrones ending was fine. From the very start, the show was renowned for unexpected twists, callous killings of beloved characters, and generally avoiding predictable tropes to tell a brutally unique story. I feel like the ending did the very same thing, but then the fans complained because they didn't get a predictable happy ending? Were they expecting that the person saying 'I'm gonna rule the kingdom' for the past 7 seasons was going to rule the kingdom in season 8? Were they expecting the beautiful man and beautiful woman to fall in love and live happily ever after? *SPOILER* Moreover, there's an element of historical precedent to Daenerys' shocking character climax. She was orphaned from the start and the family she found were the Dothraki, who were a textbook equivalent of the Mongols. This was where she learned her values and made her kin. From there, she took on the role of Genghis Khan: travel, overrun and rule from afar. Do not stop to rule any one city, but instead install a leader there to turn it into one of your own and your allies before moving on to the next. The Mongols were never the type to settle down, and they damn sure weren't the type to recognize any other ruler over them. So Daenerys tool her Mongol values throughout life and they played out the way a Mongol would in the end; if you can't rule it, destroy it - people included.

    Community Member
3 years ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

As for that part of it: I also didn't like Bran, but that's because he's level-headed and a bit plain, and with basically zero conflicts or enemies. These are actually good traits for a ruler, in stark contrast (if you'll pardon the pun) to every other king and queen that preceded him in the story. He's also got visionary superpowers to boot! Sansa was made queen of the North, which is perfectly fitting for her. Again, a very likeable and reasonable person. The fan favorites were typically Jon (adamantly didn't want to rule) and Arya (an independent rogue with independent aspirations). Moreover, the North and South being divided and separately ruled was necessary, given how different and vast the regions are. The fact that they would each be ruled by a Stark meant that they would maintain a healthy relationship. Tyrion is not a terrible option, but he excels more as an advisor. Though a bit unfair, his name, reputation and stature make him less favorable to the public eye.

I agree to a point. That backbone could be plausible, but there point that i cannot overlook: 1. They made leader Daenerys a barelly functioning zombie out of the sudden - why? 2. All of her most loyal followers, who never questioned her actions before her - left her. Why? AT least couple should have stayed. It was very rushed (understandable given that they were given only half of episodes). 3. Night king story ark was just a mssive fail. 4. Arya was obviously set up for a spin off that never took off; 5. Arya regained vision because of why exactly? 6. Arya became a Wonderwoman for some reason and with no preparation whatsoever; 7. They had no clue what to do with Bran story ark so dropped him randomly at the end; 8. What was the point of burning everything, what are you there to rule in the first place? Go back to your luxury spa hotel and enjoy vacations; 9. Whole Martell story ark was even bigger disaster than ; 10. most cunning character was got rid in a lamest way possible

Calculus is literally nothing other than how to describe the world around you. Sadly, people believe it can't be taught to most high-school students because the way they learned calculus was purposely designed to weed out all but a certain type of thinker. Insanely, American schools spend years prepping kids to understand calculus, but then never teach them calculus. Trigonometry's only purpose is to understand how calculus describes curves. On the other hand, people major in art without studying how to describe curves? Journalists try to understand economics without understanding derivatives? That's insane!

This is a serious sore subject in my house. Hubby thinks Pete Rose should be admitted to the Baseball Hall of Fame. He lost that privilege when he admitting to betting on games when he was a manager. I think he should never be allowed into the hall of fame because of that. Them's the rules, people!

I have some 1. Family Guy ruined western adult animation. Adult animation got worse and worse ever since Family Guy came out. 2. Western comics are not as creative as graphic novels and manga anymore. All comics I've read are mostly about superheroes I mostly don't care about anymore. 3. Fanfics can be great. Not much to say for this one. 4. Coffee is bitter no matter how much sugar I put in it AND it makes me tired. 5. Cats vs dogs debate is just a snowclone of boys vs girls. To the mainstream, cats are seen as destructive, timid, aloof and just pets for lonely people; whilst dogs are seen as brave, kind, helpful and loyal. 6. Modern American video games all look the same. 7. Snake vs tiger, fox vs chicken and bunny vs bird are better than cat vs dog. 8. Mainstream American humor is getting more dated. 9. Talkshow hosts are rude to their guests.

As for #4 - coffee works same way as energy drinks (same caffeine, duh) - it borrows mental capacity from the power bank, so to speak. Power bank depletes faster this way and thus you feel double the tiredness after caffeine spell is over. It's a very simplified example, google sciency explanation on your own free will :)

Yeah, time is indeed relative. For example, photons do not experience time passing like we do. And maybe all those stories in religious texts are explaining scientific facts derived through intuition, but they sound like crazy mystical fairy tales because the writers used the cultural references of the time and did not have today's scientific vocabulary.

Sure, I do! I think this "woke"-movement makes more harm, than good stuff, in the end. Because, let's just see the race/religion-thing. If the mainstream communication doesn't allow to say openly, if an aggressor belongs to which race or religion, even if it's "unofficially" known, that will just raise more negative feelings towards those groups. With racists one can't do very much... they are existing from the time cro magnoni met neanderthals. But the waste amount of the population is neutral to this thing. Basically. And unless, with your "woke"-movement, you are starting to protect criminals of given races or religion, will remain so. Because in everyday life no one gives a s**t about your race or religion, if you are not pushing it, and are a decent human being. But with this shitty "woke" moment you are generating conflicts between people, just because you want to make money from generating artificial conflicts between races or religions...as, for example the BLM-movement showed us, whose founders made money from donations, spend buying houses in white-neighborhood in US. Even they don't trust their "n***a-bros"!

I eat the crust first on pizza so that the last bites are of toppings instead of crust. Don't get me wrong, I like the crust, I just like the rest of the pizza more. I also twist apart oreos and eat the frosting first, but must when I'm alone. In public, I eat them whole. (As in, not taken apart. Depending on the size, I may take bites out of them) I don't peel string cheese I slice whole oranges into their sections and then suck the juice out of each section. I don't like the white stuff or the stringy bits. If it's orange slices that come in a can, I'll eat them whole bc no white stuff. I don't like ham because it always seems to be either too fatty or too stringy and tough I eat the outside of the banana first (the white part) and then the inner yellow stuff that's sweeter and less chalky. I peel them upside-down by pinching off the little spiky bit on the bottom and peeling it. I have soooo many food-related ones lol

Please stop cultural appropriation. It is very much a thing and in fact very prominent today. While I do believe that culture should be celebrated amongst everyone, I think different cultures have their different customs, clothing, hairstyles, etc for them and them only, and it’s important to recognize and respect that. For example: eating Mexican food or Chinese food or African food isn’t cultural appropriation, BUT dressing up like an “Indian” (Native American/Indigenous peoples), wearing box braids, cornrows, or trying to look like another race and not showing respect to it IS CULTURAL APPROPRIATION. I think all cultures are good and should be cherished amongst all, but some things aren’t for everybody.

Please give me a source to this information, because I know for a FACT that box braids, cornrows, etc. where definitely originated from Egypt and/or South Africa from African tribes up to more than 3,500 years ago. Sis, I think YOU are the one who needs to check your facts and study more. Braiding is not and never was “pop culture”, but an expression of self-identity amongst Black women for thousands of years.

Also, just to point this out (because I think all of the comments are surrounded by the braids part), cultural appropriation incomes in many forms other than appropriating Black culture. Asian culture is heavily appropriated (especially today) as well as Indigenous culture, Latinx culture, Indian culture… just to name a few. You cannot wear/talk/try to associate with another race than your own while making racist comments, offending others from that culture, claiming it wasn’t from that culture but “trending”, or anything else from the sort. Things have history, and we need to respect that history. Please read the entire post as well as the comment(s) before commenting back and downvoting.

"The Handmaid's Tale," a novel by Margaret Atwood, has won awards and been made into graphic novels and television series. It's been called strong, moving, an important book for women's rights. A lot of people like it. I think it sucks. It's superficiale, immature, and ridiculous. Maybe it's because I read George Orwell's "1984" when I was in high school. Orwell creates a "real" world and gives good reasons for how it came about. Atwood doesn't give reasons. She explains nothing. I don't remember exactly what happens in a particular scene, whether Offred had to lie underneath Fred's wife while he had sex with her, Offred, or whether she had to lie underneath the wife while she, Offred, gave birth, and I don't think it's worth the trouble to re-read, but the scene just cracked me up. It reminded me of cabbage patch dolls. And don't be thinking I'm not a feminist, because I am.

Nothing, which is the point. It's about how quickly women's rights dissolve. Atwood wasn't trying to talk about how strong women are, but how vulnerable. IMO, of cours! :-)

Jesus Christ was a wealthy man who grew up in Tiberius across the Sea of Galilee from the Golan Heights. His father Joseph was a wealthy Carpenter, one of the highest paid professions in the Roman world. They lived four hours by horse from Damascus, where Jesus learned healing as a doctor. He was also a Rabbi, meaning He was married. Jesus had paid servants, possibly slaves, and commonly visited the Temple in Jerusalem, not something a poor man could ever do. Jesus was exiled, not crucified. His bones can be found at a monastery in northern Spain. He lived about 80 years and died.

They are completely dependent on their owners' decisions and values; and get punished/trained if not complying. I don't think it's ethical to breed living creatures just for the purpose of entertaining humans/being their friends.

Pets have a little bit of control. (We're not in complete control, either.) Sometimes they can decide what they eat or are allowed to do. I've never punished a pet. I've had arguments with them, but I've never punished them. I don't think it's ethnical to have pets just to amuse us. But there's nothing like earning the love and trust of someone of another species.

Letting murderes survive while the victim's family will mourn for their entire life is morally wrong. Death penalty (when you are absolutely, positively, undeniably sure this is the right person) is morally right.

Tax payer money isn't an infinite resource, and there are much more important things to use it on, such as infrastructure, criminal justice, humanitarian aid for developing countries, transitioning to renewable energy, etc. I'd rather see my tax dollars go to those things than see it go to some philosophy degree barista.

Exactly! The dead should be respected, but it's better to have them create new life. My plan for when I die is to get either cremated or buried without preservatives and have a tree planted over me. This means no chemicals are leeching into the ground and a tree is happy. A win for everyone. Besides, if enough people do that, we'll have real haunted forests, and that's awesome.

The truths formed by human reasoning are relative to other ideas formed by reasoning, and so in themselves do not stand alone. For example, "racism is bad" is relative to "racism is good" and both statements rely on a concept of racism. That is the dualistic nature of things, that they rely on their opposites for existence. Ultimately, even the statement "no abiding essence in any thing" relies on the dualistic concept of an abiding essence.

You are actually right. pork belly (otherwise known as bacon) was a very underused part of the pig. In the 80's-90's, butchers couldn't get rid of the stuff. Marketing teams campaigned to make bacon popular. Just like they did with "buffalo wings" and cheese. The market likes to take underutilized food stuffs and through advertising makes them popular. It's why chicken wings went from cheap soup ingredient to the most expensive part of the chicken. It's why we have to have cheese on everything (the government has an excess reserve of the stuff) and now why bacon is so popular. Even at one time lobster was considered garbage food, fed to prisoners, until clever fisherman "fooled" visitors to the east coast, that it was luxury food. Marketing.....

I'm a woman, and I don't believe women should be able to collect alimony unless they have been married over 5 years and have not worked in that time. That would prove to a reasonable judge that there was an agreement for her to stay home with the kids, etc. And even then, alimony should be temporary and should be enough to pay for reasonable accomodations and she should have to get a job within a year or so. I would make exceptions for anyone over 50 years old because getting a job at that age is incredibly hard and if you've been a stay at home wife for 20 years, it's not reasonable to expect someone to go back into the job market with no skills. But alimony is kind of ridiculous in some states. You shouldn't be looking for a payday when you break up and that goes for men, too. You should have to pay child support for sure...but I have issues with some women (and some men) being married a year and getting alimony in the millions. Also I have a real problem with trial-by-twitter. Accusing people of major crimes like rape or abuse should be handled with the police. If you're brave enough to put it on twitter than be brave enough to go to the cops. As a woman I can tell you I have literally been in rooms with other women who have said things like how they are going to claim their husband abused them or their kids in order to get custody, or to use it as leverage to get more support money. Stop precious-izing women by acting like they can't lie...they can and do. And yes, about abuse, too. It's really so anti-feminist to act like we have to protect women and believe them no matter what. And people found to be lying about the crime should go to jail for a significant amount of time. No slaps on the wrist.

And men never lie, hide assets, or abuse their wives or children. How many times have you been married? Should you have to stay married for 5 years to an abusive husband just to get alimony? If someone gets millions after one year of marriage, then there was no-prenup. This is not a black-and-white situation.
