It’s no secret that Harry Potter has had a powerful effect on the entire generation of millennials. Millions of kids like you and me grew up reading books and watching films of the captivating Wizarding World, and all these characters and stories are surely ingrained into our memory. No wonder any time we hear something about the Boy Who Lived, the hair on our arms stands up and we're taken on a blast to the past.
So, this time, we are looking at some of the most interesting, thought-provoking, and illuminating scenes that didn’t make it into the final cut of the Harry Potter theatrical releases. The real HP fans may have already spotted them in the uncut releases or extended versions, but if you've only experienced the magical world on the big screen, this may be something new!
And honestly, you don’t need to be a Potterhead to realize every single scene is pure gold, from Ginny grabbing Harry's hand in Deathly Hallows to Dudley telling Harry he's not a waste of space.

Aunt Petunia Reminds Harry She Lost A Sister
I've seen this scene every time I've watched it. Why is it considered deleted?
Dudley Tells Harry Potter He's Not A Waste Of Space (Deathly Hallows)
It showed that Dudley had some good in him, or at least the ability to change. That he had a hope of turning out to be a better person than his parents. I wish they'd kept it too.
Load More Replies...they needed this one, it makes us see that dudley matured over the years
This should have been kept! It would have changed how everyone thinks of Dudley!! >:(
This as the scene I was most upset about being left out. I can imagine Dudley going over to Harry and Ginny's place for Christmas and being ok around magic.
Ginny Tells Some Gossip
Definitely not in the movie. Not the theatrical release anyway. There's a chance they used deleted scenes for tv broadcasts though.
Load More Replies...The scenes are slightly different from the DVDs to what you see on tv. I think they remove some of the longer scenes for time then put in shorter scenes to keep the story line.
Wait. Am I the only one seeing this? Aren't the boys in their dorm room and my guess is Ginny in the common room? 🤔
In a previous interview, Andy McCray, the founder and editor of the website Harry Potter Fan Zone, told us that such a passionate and enthusiastic following of the Harry Potter film series is due to the fact that it embedded itself in the zeitgeist of the 2000s.
For the millennial generation who grew up reading books, the Harry Potter world serves as a form of fantasy escapism in this increasingly hectic world. “An entire generation grew up reading the books and watching the films, and the characters and stories have transcended the page to became part of popular culture," Andy said.
Tonks And Lupin Embrace (Deathly Hallows)
Yes! These bastards who made the film show them reaching out to one another and never even touching hands! And when they're lying dead in the Great Hall, their hands STILL NEVER TOUCH! Utterly heart-breaking! This gives me peace at last.
They do show this scene in some of the tv showings, depending on the network.
I have watched all of the films in the series with the Director commentaries ON. Most of the scenes that were cut were chopped for "running time," because theaters have to be able to get in five screenings a day for a film to turn a profit. Time to restore the scenes and issue a new set of DVDs
Harry is married to Ginny and Hermione is married to Ron. Have you read The cursed child?
Load More Replies...well she is transphobic (or so i've heard) so i'm not too surprised. and just because she isn't homophobic (or openly homophobic) doesn't mean she wouldn't show representation. a lot of people don't either way. kind of disappointing :((
Load More Replies...A Hint At Ron’s Feelings For Hermione In Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows
I up-voted because I have, not because I'm raising a hand to say I haven't any.
Load More Replies...I think this scene was cut from a different movie, NOT from "Deathly Hallows." Maybe it was cut from "Goblet of Fire?"
I was so mad when I watched deathly hallows part 1 and saw that they did not bring back Viktor.
We knew how Ron felt -- there's the scene where Ron asks Hermione to the dance and she's already accepted Victor's invitation. Ron accuses her of siding with the enemy. Hermione reminds him of what a ga-ga fanboy he was of Victor's. She should have said, "You wish he had invited YOU."
Hermione Helps Ron Study So He Doesn't Cheat Off Of Her (Sorcerer's Stone)
It's glorious like a lion's mane. Love That girl. She is absolute goals.
Load More Replies...I think thy should’ve kept this scene. It would’ve been funny with the irony of the situation.
U think!!! I say they should make a movie showing them doing lots of magical studies and gossiping and pranking and just having fun. U know like a normal school year. I would still watch it with my betted breath
Load More Replies...Oh wait Nevermind the studying bit isn't in the movie
Load More Replies...Ron in the books is clever and resourceful if a bit lazy. The movies made him into a clown and a moron.
The story of The Boy Who Lived is still relevant today because it has entertainment and nostalgia factors to it. Andy explained that ”the HP movies deal with themes—love and hate, good versus evil, overcoming adversity and standing up against injustice, finding inner strength—which are particularly relevant in the modern world.” The themes are timeless and manage to touch viewers of virtually any generation.
Snape's Contemplative Scene (Half Blood Prince)
it kinda looks like him when he is in the deathly hallows part 2 when he is headmasterr
Aunt Petunia Finds Letters In Her Eggs (Sorcerer's Stone)
I'm getting the impression there are different versions of the film out there. This scene definitely isn't part of the copy of the film I've got.
Load More Replies...Sorcerers stone?? I'm assuming that a different name for the philosophers stone in a different country?
That's the title in America. Most Americans don't know what a philosopher's stone is.
Load More Replies...Ok weird because I've seen this movie so many times, but I never saw this scene until I actually watched it on TV at my grandparents' house??
This scene is not in the philosophers stone which is the English release. However, it is in the sorcerers stone which is the American release.
some people have different versions of the movie. i'm pretty sure these are all scenes that HAVE been cut out at some point, but you may have gotten a version that didn't have this part cut out

What do you mean?!? She is gorgeous!!
Load More Replies...Ron Tells Harry Not To Go Back To That Mirror (Sorcerer's Stone)
I'm pretty sure it wasn't in the movie but it was in the books
Load More Replies...It wasn't in the original release. I can confirm it definitely isn't in the copy I've got, so they might have added it back for a later release.
Load More Replies...Peeves
Before I'd seen any film, I did imagine Peeves looking like how Rick Mayall did in Drop Dead Fred. But was disappointed that Mayall's scenes as Peeves had been cut. He's in the books so much, it's criminal he wasn't in the films. Especially in Order of the Phoenix.
he could have changed the movie sooo much! i even rewatched all the movies for peeves after readin the books... but i was disappointed cuz he sounded really fun xD
Load More Replies...Peeves is the best thing missing. But I didn't picture him like he's shown here. Maybe it's good he's just in my imagination :) my fave is when he follows umbridge around blowing raspberries whenever she talks XD
I was disappointed that Peeves wasn't in the movies, but I imagined him a little more like a clown with nastiness.
Aunt Petunia Dyes Dudley's Uniform For Harry (Sorcerer's Stone)
Not in the original release no. It might have been added in an extended cut but I remember not knowing about this scene until I read the book.

Snape: You have your mother's eyes. Harry: *Confused af* she- she has brown eyes... Snape: nope, those are your mothers eyes for sure Harry: I- ok
Had Harry looked like his mother, he'd have become teacher's per with Snape.
Professor Trelawney Eats While Distracted (Order Of The Phoenix)
basically she's eating her food but not paying attention. i'm pretty sure that's why she's eating so weirdly, because she isn't looking at her food/plate
Load More Replies...Emma Thompson was brilliant (in both the American and English sense of the word) as Trewlany
Ginny Grabs Harry's Hand In Deleted Deathly Hallows Scene
I ship Hinny. But I hate that in the movies, they made her seem weak and quiet when in the books she's loud, proud, and extremely brave.
Harry is officially married to Ginny in The cursed child.

Luna And Harry Share A Moment After Dobby Passes (Deathly Hallows)
Close Encounter With Crabbe And Goyle (Chamber Of Secrets)
OKAY STOP. you keep commenting on all of these saying they weren't deleted, you just have a different version of the movie okay? the point is that some of these scenes were cut out at SOME point. maybe later and in a different version of the movie than you got. but nobody cares, and it's getting annoying when this is on EVERY post.
Load More Replies...Ron Checking In On Harry (Order Of The Phoenix)
Even if the world was ending, ron would never say he is not hungry. He just wouldn't
I think that's the point though isn't it? He's giving up eating to be with Harry?

It's a revenge party, a party that ends with somebody's head on a spike...
In the book, this is most likely the scene after Sirius broke into Gryffindor tower and slashed Ron's bed curtains trying to get to Peter Pettigrew (aka Scabbers).
Load More Replies...Ron Teaches Hermione How To Skip Rocks (Deathly Hallows)
maybe you saw it in the deleted scenes bit in the special features
Load More Replies...this was not deleted i watched it yesterday on tv not a deleted scene version or a extended version
This wasn't in any version of the film even the extended versions. It was in the deleted scene section or extras as some people call then 😊
Lucius Being A Frightening Father (Chamber Of Secrets)
I've said it before, I'll say it again: Draco had SO MUCH potential for character development!!! So much!!!! And they just? Didn't???? He was such an interesting character, he always did what he had to for his family and I feel like if he was allowed to be his own person (like growing up and moving out) soooo much character development!!!!!
And now Jason Isaacs still wishes Tom Felton happy birthday on Instagram. Even signing it from "Fake Dad"
Harry Says This About Sirius (Prisoner Of Azkaban)
Harry Doubts Himself, But Ron And Hermione Don't (Chamber Of Secrets)
I think this was intended to foreshadow the twist that Ginny was doing horrible things without knowing it.
I didn't think about it that way! Good observation!
Load More Replies...Weird Sisters Music During The Yule Ball
This has happened several times in this post. If you watch the HP movies streaming, there are many scenes that have been included that were not in the original theater release. This post reflects the original theater versions.
In my head, The Weird Sisters should look like a cross between AC/DC, The Darkness, and a pipe band.
Draco Throws Harry His Wand To Help Escape Voldemort (Deathly Hallows)
Yeah cause it hasn't been edited, scenes that aren't included in the film typically won't be CGI edited or anything.
Load More Replies...I know it was probably removed cause it's too different from the books, but I kinda wish Draco had a redemption scene
Me too. Here's how I imagined the scene. Voldemort: Draco...come. Draco: No! Voldemort: No? Draco: No! I'm staying here and I'm going to help my friends defeat you.
Load More Replies...It would never haave made it. Rowling was very specific that the exchange of wands of Draco takes place in a muggle simple way . A fist fighting. Not some great feat attach to it
harry already had drago's wand, after they left the malfoy's manor. so that scene doesnt even makes sense. draco had his mother's wand.
I wish they had left this in. I love Draco. My sister thinks I am a psycho lol
Hogwarts Hymn
i swear when i watched the goblet of fire they sang the song

Ron And Hermione Worry About Harry After Checking On Him (Order Of The Phoenix)
We Learn That Filch Is A Squib
This scene wouldn't make sense at all, because in movie Filch's squibbines was not mentioned at all, as far as I remember. More importantly, attacking Mrs. Norris and hating Harry and presuming him Slytherin's heir because of that doesn't make sense too. Why would he pick Mrs. Norris anyway? It was really poorly explained and I wouldn't be surprised if people who didn't read books were confused. Well.. Not just by this, by other things too. Let's face it, you can't fit all important information in 15 hours or so.
Is it Mrs. Norris or Mr. Norris? It was a female in my country, I don't know.

What I learned from this one is there are multiple version of the movie out there....Lots of people are claiming to have seen a lot of these scenes but I can confirm they are not present in the versions I've watched.
yes. everybody has different versions of the movie. some people have scenes in their movie that were cut out later, some people have scenes that were added later, some people don't have any of these. but everyone keeps commenting on it and honestly i think it's a waste to do so. it's just different versions of the movie! all of these scenes were probably cute out at SOME point but not for each version
Load More Replies...There. Are. Multiple. Versions. My gosh!!! The comments, from the same people, over and over, are insane. The title was misleading. None of these were in the theatrical releases. But it seems every time they're on television, new scenes are added. It's why I keep watching them! It's fun!
yes! it's so annoying. there were at least 3 people continuously commenting "this wasn't deleted!". got quite annoying near the end
Load More Replies...A lot of these were bonus features on the DVDs, too. I always thought they should have made each book from Goblet of Fire onwards into 2 movies.
The ONLY WAY . was to make this into a series , and each season a year. And each chapter a episode. Just copypaste everything word by word line by line but like more dramatic. I liked the fight scene at the end of OOP . It was much better and visually appealing
Load More Replies...Depending on which broadcasting network is airing the films, they include the deleted scenes that were not part of the theatrical release. Hence why when you buy copies of the film, you can get the extended edition, the theatrical release or you get bonus features, which are typically the cut scenes.
One: multiple versions, good lord people!! Two: Almost all of these (and more) were in the books, just showing further that the books are so much better than the movies because of these small details that build the characters. It's so hard to translate good writing in a book into a good film.
It takes me back, guys... it’s unfortunate though because i feel like these books are slightly tainted for me now with all of the stuff jk Rowling has said and everything happening with this fandom... 😕
I loved the books, so I was very angry about the changes they made for the movies. Two are the worst, in my opinion. At the end of "Sorcerer's Stone" ("Philosopher's Stone" in the UK), the fight between Harry and Professor Quirrell was severely downplayed. In the book, Harry nearly died. The other change that I found really offensive was how they "Hollywoodized" then ending of "Deathly Hallows, Part II." The physical fight between Potter and "He Who Must not be Named" was appalling and unforgivable.
