Since its humble beginnings in 2007, Google street view has gone on to map out the entire world through photos, making it a perfect place to explore our planet from your desktop. The internet empire has attached its Street View cameras to all means of transport and even mounted them on people, meaning that the most unexpected places and scenes are sometimes captured by the all-seeing eye that is Google.
Some people like to travel vicariously through street view, exploring the remote and dangerous places that people rarely visit in real life. Others like searching for candid and funny photos captured by the gaze of the camera – a kind of voyeurism of the world as it really is. No posing, no carefully curated images, just people and some funny animals doing their thing in their natural habitats.
We here at Bored Panda like these funny accidents caught in photos too, especially the silly animals! Below is a selection of times when animals photobombed the Street View camera, delighting us all with their unexpected and often hilarious presence. Scroll down to check some of the best photos out for yourself, and let us know what you think in the comments!

The Google Street View vehicle hit it and sent it flying: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/9472808/google-street-view-hare-crash/
The Google car's camera distorts at certain angles, get a grip people.
Explain the shadow on the ground then. Get a GRIP on life maybe? ;)
Load More Replies...Wow. Reminds me of those dreams in which I'm flying and then I realize I'm flying too high.
then you fall and panic-jolting awake
Load More Replies...The Google street camera was originally mounted to a van and driven around the streets. But for more remote, hard-to-reach places they now use a backpack that a person can walk with, called the Trekker. This means that Google photos can be taken of any terrain that can only be traveled by foot — provided the person doing the traveling is able to withstand the backpack’s 40-pound weight.
"Our goal is to provide the most comprehensive and accurate and useful map possible," Deanna Yick, Google Maps' Street View Program Manager, told Tech Insider, "so that Google Maps is a mirror of the real world."
yes the Largo di Torre Argentina which is a cat sanctuary
Load More Replies...“It’s not just about pretty pictures and giving people a sense of what things are like,” Yick continued. “We’re using this imagery for conservation, historical purposes, learning, and education.”
You can apply to borrow the Trekker to take on your own travels by checking out this page and filling out the form. Be warned though, Google Street View photographers have to be "very fit individuals," Yick says, because they'll be on their feet for long stretches of time, often while wearing the 40-pound Trekker backpacks. Would you like to give it a try?
Photographers get training at Google's headquarters in Mountain View, California, before they head out to shoot photos.
Kudos to the car owner. Creating a NON-METALLIC surface so that the cat can sleep without burning in the sun
"....seems to be working. If they just follow me around this bend, they'll never find where Santa keeps his toys."
"If I can just lure them around this bend, Santa's stash of toys will be safe."
I wasn't there! I wasn'r there! ;) LOL
Load More Replies...Caribou. Easy way to tell the difference, elk are majestic, caribou look like an elk on monday morning after a weekend-long party.
Load More Replies...In Alaska this might be illegal because there are lots of rules there about shooting moose...
While Google Street View is still used mainly for navigation and orienting oneself with an area, Yick hopes people will continue using it as a place for exploration as well.
"People are comfortable using it as a day-to-day tool for navigation, but it's so much more than that," she said. "The fact that I can use Google Maps and hop into the Pyramids of Egypt without a plane or a new language — it's really exciting."
"What we've found is just because the road ends doesn't mean there's not more interesting stuff to see."
"That's where the good stuff is — off the beaten path."
can he swing from a web? no he cant, he’s a cat. look ouuuuuutt he is spider cat!

I would have guessed Ireland. We used to have to get out of the car and physically move the sheep off the road. Honking and yelling and revving the engine did nothing.

Butterfly internal monologue:"Fear me! I am Mothera!! BWAHAHAHAHA....PEW PEW"
I like that the monkeys don't seem to care that someone's taking a picture of their hot tub party.
How is this on Google Street View? I don't think they are right next to a road.
Have you read the text? A lot of this post is about how Google is expanding its map to cover areas without roads.
Load More Replies...This isn't Google Street View. It's from a documentary. I forget which one. But I know I've seen this they're in a hot spring
Imagine trying to have a moment when you realize you're now going to be blasted all over the internet? Poor good boy.
There is a joke that if you are ever lost in the woods, pretend to use the bathroom and someone will show up!
The cutest is if the dog notice you are looking at him doing the deed, often they seem embarrased.
"excuse me, do you have time to talk about our lord and savior Big Bird?"
Are you asking us to tell you how to get... how to get to Sesame Street?
Load More Replies...*uppity accent* Hrm... yes... notice the aesthetics of the peaceful countryside, the perpendicular lines, the stark contrast of a struggle in the foreground... The shading itself reflects the story the artist wants to tell, as the eyes are drawn from a bright sky to an increasingly dark moment in time between man and beast... simultaneously a balance and imbalance of mediums... yes...

She or he, cos both sexes have antlers, is a common reindeer/caribou. Not all reindeers are grey, white is not an unusually colour.
Either the cow is famous, or witness to a crime.
Load More Replies...Even more rareness... that's what is called a "medicine hat" horse, for its color pattern on the ears. "In some Native American cultures, horses with this marking were believed to have supernatural powers."(Wikipedia)
"Amazing that he lived this long with that coloring. That is one tough animal".
"Hey, Ralph, do you think *we* are supposed to be herding the sheep?"
I wonder if these are reported as traffic jams on rural radio stations
"Phew, I should be safe here. Wait, is that a camera? Is that thing filming my privates!?"
Freddo Frog for the long drive - Chocolate helps keep us alert! and having a hitchhiker on the windscreen for a while is nice! drop him off in the water somewhere!
is it a flooded road perhaps - hard to know! I suppose Google will plot the land on the edge of water! So it is possible that they use the Google mapping cameras on boats as well huh
Load More Replies...And there off, Tuxedo off to an early lead with Crosby in second followed by Waddle. It's going to be a close one people!
I had my money on Weeble, dead last. I gotta stop gambling.
Load More Replies...Is..is there a road? No wonder people drive into the ocean using Google
Fortunately, some of these are taken on foot - they don't just use a car any longer.
Load More Replies...That is Whaler's Bay, on Deception Island between the South Shetlands and the Antarctic Peninsula. Between 10 and 15 thousand people visit every year. They're Gentoo penguins, not Adelie (like in Madagascar)
Are you lost? This is a private road. I'll help you find your way out safely.
In Greece they use this type of dog to automatically open and close their gates
I'm thinking, if he got his shoulders out, he should be able to get his hips out. Right?
Your a bit nosey go away will ya I'm constipated and trying to squeeze a poo out
The sad irony is these elephants are just trying to get to a Waffle House and google maps let them down.
Good thing Google was covering the area, these guys were using Apple maps to get to a screening of Dumbo and ended up in the middle of nowhere South Africa.
There are many people working hard ,with need of financial help to save these majestic beauties !!!
Odd thing is that there were no horses around when the photo taken; ergo, ghost horses.
Unfortunately I believe that directly to the right there is a palm oil plantation. Possibly all around too. The plantations are very quickly reducing habitat for the biodiversity in Indonesia, and they often kill animals they find on the plantations trying to live there. Even the workers are not treated well, as their pay is often witheld for up to a year, forcing them to be unable to leave. They also hire children as young as 7 years old, and they work in unsafe conditions, doing tasks like spraying pesticide without proper protection. Please look for foods without palm oil, or that are RSPO certified, which means that the palm oil is harvested sustainably and ethically. For more information on this, you can search for articles on palm oil on World Wildlife Fun, National Geographic, Green Palm, RSPO.org, Greenpeace, or watch the video "Rang-tan" on YouTube. Sorry for the essay, I'm just really passionate about this :/

You hang a left just up ahead, and the Ponderosa is just a couple miles down, on the right. Tell them Charlie sent you.
*Reads the comments*: Two kinds of people-- Those who are reminded of The Birds and those who are reminded of Finding Nemo.
"Psst, Charlie, get me out of this cage and we can show the hoomans how it's supposed to be done."
Aren't these the same 2 dogs from the other sheep pic? Different day, but, unless someone has the same hound and shepherd, that's them!
Never, and I repeat never, chase your sheep while wearing just your white boxers and a shirt. It gives the neighbors well, the wrong impression, even while being correct.
I love how they put the sheep guardian dogs in the truck. You deserve a rest, buddy.
Don't you hate it when you are driving down the road, minding your own business, when a whale runs out in front of you! Insurance won't believe you.
What street is this so I know what area to avoid. my car can’t swim.
Load More Replies...This has happened to me more than once while crossing the sea underwater! Where are the traffic cops?
Found the link to the actual pic! https://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/google-maps-underwater-humpback-whale/view/google/ Enjoy ;)
It looks like two google photos automatically stitched. Flip the picture and the cat is slightly distorted but basically ‘normal.’ Notice that the curb on the right doesn’t line up.
Load More Replies...I never go snorkeling without planning a google maps route first. One time it accidently lead me down a sewer and I ended up in a bathroom in a pool hall.
Did the Google Car driver use Apple Maps for directions and ended up driving off a pier?
Anyone can post a geotagged photosphere to Google maps. To view this one in maps, go to Crystal Bay, Bali and click on the little yellow street view dude. Then click one one of the blue dots in the bay and viola! Mola mola. You're welcome.
This upside-down thing seems to be a trend among animals... I need to talk with my dog about this. Hmm.
Explain to the technically challenged old man what streets the seascape shots are taken on? XD
*announcer voice* Well folks, it looks like it's nose-to- derriere traffic put there today, better get out of the barn early today of you want to make it to work on time
Load More Replies...If you see a turtle like this on the shore..Do not stand in front of it to take a picture!!! This is most likely a female turtle that's come to the beach to lay her eggs. They are easily spooked and will return to the sea without laying eggs if they feel threatened. Some A**hole down in on Ocean Isle thought it was cute to have his toddler sit on one for a photo op. These turtles are struggling to bring their numbers back. Stop harassing them and leave them alone!
Side note...if the authorities catch you interfering with a female sea turtle whose only trying to nest...you could face fines and jail time. The police were actively looking for the moron that had his kid sit on that turtle for the photo.
Load More Replies...Well, looks like pups like to follow the Google car, on land and sea.
Which is probably the reason it’s there. I’m “that weirdo” who will pull over to get a turtle/tortoise (and other animals, except for the dangerous and poisonous ones—-I’m not stupid) off the road—-including the very ill-tempered and utterly ungrateful snapping turtles (Yes, I have been bitten while trying to save one right before it was going to be run over...). So I’m actually happy to see barriers on the side of the road meant to keep animals off it.

Those aren't made to be ridden and whoever makes those saddles should be sued.
Looks like a Shetland to me, plenty of bone and they are damn strong buggers
Load More Replies...You're too big for him, and he's too small to be ridden. Get off him, you idiot!
this pony isn't suffering. He has substantial bone and can easily carry the weight.
You're horribly wrong. "Bone" doesn't decide how much weight a horse can carry; muscle mass does. There are full-sized horses that can't carry an average adult because they aren't muscular enough. Shetland Ponies aren't supposed to carry anything heavier than small children. Over time this horse would suffer back pain and likely other issues, for example with its legs, if it got ridden by an adult.
