This Online Group Is Shaming People For Failing At The One Job They Had To Do, And Here Are 45 Of The Funniest Examples
If you liked our publications on the subreddit 'OSHA' or the Facebook group 'Looks Like An OSHA Violation But Ok,' you should enjoy this one as well.
(I'll commit the sin of paraphrasing this community's title, but trust me, it's just a minor change and doesn't detract anything from it.)
The subreddit is called '[Dumb] People At Work.' Even though it's smaller than its aforementioned cousins and has just over 9K members, the content is just as good. Or bad. Depends on how you look at it.
Tying up dirt and rocks with straps, building questionable towers from nearby material instead of getting a ladder... It's all there!

Don't you worry, that's just one of them fancy glow nuts.
Load More Replies...Can someone who knows more about electricity and/or metallurgy explain while only that one is glowing hot? Would not the metal conduct it everywhere?
It looks like what that one bolt is connected to is only touching that bolt and the bolt isn't transferring the heat anywhere else. I'm not sure why the heat isn't transferring but it could be because of some sort of protective layer or that bar that the bolt is screwed into could be some sort of non conductive metal
Load More Replies...It's not SUPPOSED to be a red light. It's a red light now. And it's serving its purpose well. As in, it's warning you of a serious danger.
Most of these people look like they have never heard of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). It's a federal agency responsible for ensuring safe and healthy working conditions for employees in the United States.
OSHA sets and enforces standards for workplace safety and health, and provides training, outreach, education, and assistance to employers and workers.
OSHA violations occur when an employer fails to comply with OSHA standards or regulations. These violations can range from minor infractions, such as failing to properly label a chemical container, to serious violations that result in injury or death, such as failure to provide proper fall protection or failure to adequately train employees on the use of hazardous chemicals.
Good Thing They Tied It, Would Be Bad If It Dropped
Interestingly, this could be malicious compliance if there's a rule that loads must be strapped down.
True but if the legislation stipulates that the load must be Secured then this is a fail by the driver and the staff who loaded him and let him out on the road like that, at least it would be in Australia. That tie down DOES NOT secure the load, complete chain of idiots letting this happen.
Load More Replies...Looks like someone is just following orders. "Boss said every load has to be tied down and secured, so..."
Not a tarp in sight. If I was a motorist, I'd pull to the side, let this bozo go on ahead, and pull back into traffic, all in an effort to protect my windscreen from flying projectiles.
I'm confused bc if you were in front of them, then you wouldn't be in any danger of flying debris.
Load More Replies...I bet he said “that ain’t going anywhere” after he put those straps on. Lol.
The straps are there to stop the lengths of retaining wood from falling off, not the actual load.
At least here in Finland bulk loads obviously don't need to be tied down, however they cannot be transported in a side-less bed/trailer either so this is both stupid and dangerous any way you look at it. The wind will for sure blow smaller particules off the top and once the heap erodes bigger rocks can roll off pretty much unhindered.

Ahhh this reminds me of the security guard at the werehouse i was working at the time, we had 2 types of palette jacks One had nylon wheels to be used ONLY in the werehouse, the other rubber wheels for the sales floor, some Times ppl would use the pallet Jack as a scooter, and right out the werehouse door there was a 90 degree Turn and the loading sock, One time the security guard used the nylon wheels Jack as a scooter, alas for him, nylon doesn't have much grip on concrete....

Load More Replies...In the United States, OSHA has the authority to inspect workplaces for compliance with OSHA standards, and can issue citations and fines to employers who are found to be in violation. Employers have the right to contest OSHA citations, but if the citations are upheld, the employer must correct the violation and pay any associated fines.
There are several common OSHA violations that occur in the United States. Some of the most frequently cited violations include:
- Lack of fall protection: Falls are one of the leading causes of workplace injuries and deaths, and OSHA requires employers to provide adequate fall protection for employees who work at heights. This includes installing guardrails, safety netting, and other protective measures to prevent falls.
- Lack of hazard communication: Employers are required to provide information to employees about the hazards they may encounter on the job, including the proper handling and storage of hazardous chemicals.

When I was working in Denmark, the cleaners has left a bilingual note in the toilet which read something like "Your mother doesn't work here. Please use the brush to remove traces". Sadly they didn't translate traces quite right - the Danish was literally "tyre tracks", which would be "skidmarks" in English. I'm still impressed that the cleaners were bilingual.

What’s Wrong With This Photo?
It took me a second to realise the ladder was upside down😄😄😄
It’s not upside down. It’s a folding, extending ladder and has the flares at both ends so that it can be used as a stepladder.
Load More Replies...That is a foldable ladder which has exactly the same geometry at the other end. The person is doing nothing wrong!
No, they are. You shouldn't climb that high up a ladder, you should always be able to able to maintain at least 3 points of contact with the ladder when climbing.
Load More Replies...OK this is going to sound weird, but hear me out.... I think he intentionally has the ladder upside down(or it's a combo) so that the splayed ends go around the sides of the tree to stabilize the ladder while not damaging the tree. Otherwise, the top of the ladder would just be jammed into the floof and possibly slide sideways (if it's a regular ladder).I still wouldn't stand on the feet/ top supports tho!😂

We’d just turned off the M4 motorway, and were overtaking a big articulated truck, and there was a huge bang right next to me! It made my ears ring, and next morning my mate checked his car and found the nearside covered in bits of melted rubber. Took him ages to clean the stuff off. I’d want to stand well clear of that tyre, personally…
Whilst generally I am one to encourage bad ideas, I'm not so sure this one is worth it.
Load More Replies...A tire is usually made of a lining of woven cords (strong material, used to be steel wires) with rubber inside and over it to keep it airtight and make it "stick" to the road. For some reason (age, overheating, manufactoring error) the rubber inside let the air through the cords so this is a blown tire waiting to happen.

Load More Replies...A nurse who accidentally kills patients because she doesn't know how to properly prepare an IV drip with medication will soon be fired and may be sued for negligence. Why should it be different for a nurse who infects her immune compromised patients with Covid and other diseases because she doesn't understand how vaccines work?
Being vaxxed does not stop the spread of Covid. It may lessen severity of the illness, however, this gap is less wide as more and more people have acquired immunity.
Load More Replies...Sadly, that's not true. There are more and more all the time. For every one that drops dead from a vaccine preventable disease or changes their mind when they or a loved one (usually a child) gets very ill or dies from a VPD, there are a dozen more people like OP's example lined up to take their place. I worked for state/federal immunization programs for 20 years and the fact is, the anti-vaxxers are growing in numbers and they are a very real threat to the rest of us. VPDs that were eradicated, nearly eradicated, or very well controlled (wild polio, measles, etc.) are now making a comeback because of these fools.
Load More Replies...It kills me when I see health care workers that don't believe in modern medicine, because that's essentially what you're saying if you're an anti vax HCW. It would be like a flat earther working at NASA...
2 quick things. 1) being anti expreimental covid vaccine does not make someone anti-vax. 2) Medical professionals swore an oath to do what is best for their patients. The politicians are driving info about the vaccine, not scjentists and doctors. Truth is in Democrat California. Doctors repeating something the WHO and CDC have admitted about the ineffectiveness of the vacvine on new covid strains will lose their liscence for spreading missinformation because they are saying something bad about the vaccine. Doctors are being attacked for upholfing their oath.
Scary that this nurse is hooking up with other anti-vaxxers, then showing up to work around ill people. Staff like her are making hospitals even scarier than they were.
it took me far to long to figure out what she was trying to say
My dad wasa manager at a grocery store. Antivax. Guess what he died from? Yup! Covid! I think it's called poetic justice?
My uncle died of Covid, too. Vaxxed and boosted. The issue is comorbidities I have lupus, I have had Covid twice. It was a cold. I am not overweight, I exercise daily. It makes a difference. . .
Load More Replies...Some people are worried and rightfully so, with something still kinda new and with all the new issues and side effects it was okay to be nervous when it first came out, and with the amount of articles talking about the lack of testing and the lack of effects it has, you would expect people to not trust it.
OSHA violations can have serious consequences for both employers and employees. Employers who violate OSHA standards can face fines, legal action, and negative publicity, which can damage their reputation and bottom line. Employees who work in unsafe conditions or who are not properly trained on how to use hazardous materials may suffer serious injuries or death.

When you don't quite get the concept of the equipment you're using
I watched a contractor take an aluminum ladder off his truck. Extend & kept on getting really close to the power line. He had his music blasting. The home owner must have told him to watch the power lines. In doing so the guy started looking around, not up, & actually touched the power line several times. It must have had good insulation. I just sat there at the stop sign waiting for the flash & puff of smoke. If anybody ever needed to be electrocuted it was that contractor.
Can't fathom what he was trying to do, unless the hoist broke down and he was trying to get off.

It happens. Sometimes you just don't have a box that works and you make do. We used to have to do that occasionally at my warehouse. The thing is, you can make a smaller box out of a bigger box, but if 30,000 shipments have the right size box, I'm not going to have one of my guys spend 10 minutes making a custom box for a $5 widget. The packaging can be re-used anyway. That box looks to be in good shape. It's probably good for another couple of trips across the country.

Doubt it was his/her fault. These mechanisms are even supposed to bang and shake them to loosen the stuff. So if it falls in, some part must have been faulty.
Every time I see the garbage truck I always worry this might happen
I can't be the only one who first saw a dinosaur attempting to eat the white head of the truck right?? RIGHT????
The forks of the truck are supposed to go into a socket that sticks out on each side. Presumably here the forks went under the socket so it could lift up OK but then there was nothing underneath the fork to stop it falling in.
Insert Picture Of The Qc Person Checking The Welds On My 2019 Jeep
Everyone I know who's had a jeep has had multiple problems. But they always say "I love my jeep! I've never had any problems with it, except...."
Load More Replies...When i was 14, my boss bought a brand new Jeep Wrangler. He was so excited, it was his dream car. Was going to bring it to work to show it off, but on the drive in, both rear tires fell off on the highway. The car had to be replaced, the damage was so bad. Luckily his warranty covered it. But it left me with a negative impression of the Jeep brand.
I'd ask for a refund AND an explanation. And if I didn't get both threaten to sue for putting myself, my passengers and the general public at risk.
Plugged The Christmas Trees In, Boss
I don't think it's drying what ever is in that line. In my experience most non -potable liquids do nasty things to your body
They put the power strip for the electric right under a water supply.

Someone Left Their Keys On The Wrong Shelf
You beat me to it. Not sure if it was the OP or BP but it's is a great job.
Load More Replies...yeah. i highly doubt this was in response to a single case of someone leaving keys where they shouldn't be.
If this shelf is for commissary use only, it may be a food storage shelf. Would you want to eat a sandwich made of bread sitting by someone's shoes? Bet'cha don't.
I Changed The Sign Boss
Well, I read about the shortage of staff in the US, so hiring potheads would be a solution. Paying a decent wage would be another.

More Like Employee Of The Century!
Used to work at a glass factory. Happened there too, after a rush order a couple of us did on a Saturday. The manager thought he could drive a forklift. We refused to work another 6 hours, and the manager was "reassigned" the Monday after. Still hurts to think about it.
Curious- was the glass recycled (i.e., melted down and re-formed into panes) there?
Load More Replies...🎼I love the sound of breaking glass… (Nick Lowe, for those unfamiliar with the song)

Load More Replies...Oh that exact thing happened to me, except with some kind of concrete slab. It fell about 6 feet from where I was standing.
Luckier than my father. Idjit magnet crane operator dropped a load on his head. Survived but never able to work again. And no coverage back then, he was "thrown away" by the company... and my narcissistic mother.
Load More Replies...Have a forklift at my companies shop, was in the way one day so I had to move it. Got it moved and figured out the controls. Eventually had some stuff I needed moved and just did it, no accidents after using it a handful of times and had some very tight clearance situations. Forklifts aren't that hard to learn just gotta be patient and careful.
I’m Just Trying To Organize A Meeting. Will You Be There Or Not?
Yeah, I think my brain broke trying to figure out the issue
Load More Replies...Now I've actually had something like this, but it was a time zone issue. Some platforms send international invitations with time zone localisation. We sent the invitation before the daylight saving time change in our country, which they don't have. Once the time changed, the invitation didn't line up any more and we got into cross purposes quite quickly. It resolved when we found
To be fair, it might be an overlap the person is not explaining well, or a typo, rather than the person being stupid/having a stupid moment. If the person is available at 11am but not for the full hour, because they've got a 11.30am or something, they won't be available for the full meeting. Or it might be a simple typo on the second digit and meant they are available at 10am.
Yeah, it's possibly a time zone or an overlap issue. The reply should have been more specific, but there's no need to post this and make them seem stupid on the internet. Even with the names blurred out, I would feel so bad that a typo/misunderstanding was being spread like this.
Load More Replies...In my work, you need to be very specific about time zones. I live in Eastern, my client is in Central, the project manager is in Pacific, and we work with some people on the client's team in India. I look at this and think it could just be a time zone issue.
Both time zones are the same - PDT at top and Pacific Time at the bottom. Doesn't PDT stand for Pacific Daylight Time?
Load More Replies..."OK, at 11 am, then". This would be my answer. I am an easy-going person.
Got Stuck. Clearly Wasn't Watching
We have a bridge in my home town that acts as a truck trap. It has a clear max height warning, yet several time a year, it snares another victim. So, the city decided the warning was not enough, and they placed a construct infront of the bridge, so if the truck wont fit, this thing hits the roof first and wont cause as much damage on either the truck or bridge. The problem is, they only placed one of those, in one direction even though it is a two way street because they claimed "most trucks drive in this direction". It only took some weeks, and a truck got stuck again - coming from the other direction.
Sometimes, you can just let some air out of the tires to squeeze under. Then fill them back up at the next station.
Load More Replies...Something like this doesn't stop truckers around here. They just give it more gas & destroy whatever they are hung up on. From railings to homes to cars to wires. One big rig was pulled over a mile from the scene dragging part of a home (not the part with someone in it), part of car, wires, a bunch of signs, & several telephone poles.
This happens a lot close to where i live. There's a restaurant across from the trucking outfit and so a lot of trucks pull in and on the way trying to get out of the restaurants parking lot they get stuck because of the parking lot being lower than the road by just enough to get it caught.
When a semi truck turns, you have to swing wide. The trailer wheels don't follow directly behind the truck.
Load More Replies...they installed a roundabout a few yrs back that traps trucks. its just not big enough! u have to go so slow, as a cat, and they put an interior curb, not even a slope, trucks don't stand a chance. and here in NH we seem to have a prob in general understanding how they work lol in the new one close to my work so many folks STOP and looks both ways WtF
We have a round about near a major truck stop in my town that has multiple markings stating no trucks aloud, yet at least once a month a truck tries to go around it and gets stuck. Once I saw them bring a freaking crane to help get it unstuck.
Local Grocery Store. Top It Off With Masks Being Mandatory
I'm tired of pandemic mitigation, I'm much more tired of the dumbest people this country has ever produced (trumpers, to clarify for, well, trumpers) running around calling everyone else an idiot.

One Of My Employees Isn't The Brightest Bulb In The Box. He's Been Trying To Install This Lock For An Hour Using The Wrong Setting On The Bolt Wondering Why He Was Struggling
So you watched him for an hour without saying something? What an effective boss you are.
They were probably off doing paperwork, not expecting to have to supervise such a piddly job.
Load More Replies...It looks like a replacement deadbolt in an old door. I've installed more than a few of these and they're still a bit tricky because they have changed over time and depending on what the original installer did it varies. Instead of mocking the worker, how about just showing them?
A supervisor who observes an employee struggling for an hour without doing anything is even dumber. That's two hours wasted: one for the employee and one for the supervisor.
Good point.... also all locks come with printed instructions.
Load More Replies...I literally had to teach one of my new guys about this yesterday lol. At least it wasn’t a hour before he came and asked for help.

Rand Paul is a physician of some sort. And an idiot. (and he's actually on the left in this image)
As much as it pains me to admit, Rand Paul actually has an medical doctorate. Apparently he was a practicing ophthalmologist prior to his election, that makes his ignorance all the more alarming.
An ophthalmologist that short-sighted has no business in medicine or politics

Critical failure, the guard wakes up. Roll for initiative. Literally the NEXT TURN, I, the MEAT SHIELD, grab the sword and lop off the guy’s head. Shortly followed by in-character banter about the meat shield doing the rogue’s job.
My dad once tried to attack a fire imp with fire. Also my players trial-and-errored though a simple Indiana Jones floor puzzle. This is why I love D&D.
