Although in order to feel safe, men shouldn't be in a bathroom with women even if the stalls have more coverage! I wouldn't want my teenage daughter in a restroom with a man!

That’s insane Georgia is doing that. I work in juvenile corrections and the transgender teens in our care even get medical care for this! As they should. I know of a young lady who we helped legally change her name while with us. Unfortunately, you sometimes see an over representation of this population in the juvenile justice system as they may end up with assault charges from standing up against bullying at school or if they have been kicked out by family you may see survival crimes surface. (I’m by no means suggesting these kids are criminals, it’s just the struggles they may face increase the chances of police being involved in their lives). I’d say we average about 150 kids at any given time and 3 to 5 of those identify as transgendered. We have very specific procedures in place to ensure these kids feel safe in our care and staff each individual kid to determine what’s best for that specific youth with the kiddo providing their opinion on what would make them most comfortable.

I can't wrap my head around people like Brenda. It doesn't take much to empathize here. If I was exactly the same person as I am, but born with male biology, no way on earth I think I could Have handled puberty. Such a pointlessly cruel thing for some whom it doesn't effect to get hung up on

I know this is not remotely the point but another benefit of non-gendered bathrooms is how it would help parents. Yes, when our kids are very young no one bats an eye when you bring a boy in the ladies room. But there is this grey area age where kids are a bit older but it may still make parents uncomfortable to let their kids go into bathrooms unsupervised. My son is 6, I don’t leave him unsupervised in public. But. He wants to go to the men’s room. I stand outside small ones in restaurants and such and let him go. But in big ones like at baseball stadiums I still force him to come with me to the ladies room. I’m not concerned he’ll see anything and I’m not concerned he’ll do anything to make the ladies or men uncomfortable. I’m concerned about a little kid being surrounded by adults of any gender and completely out of site of his mom. I wouldn’t leave him alone in a park or to wander the mall, but I’m expected to leave him alone in a bathroom?

My work's staff restrooms are now gender neutral and I love it.

It's not just privacy, it's that people claim it is for safety! They say, 'oh, what's going to stop a man from dressing up as a woman and going into a woman's toilet for nefarious reasons?' Well there's not really anything stopping them from doing that now...

Lol! Definitely! Men don't give two spits if a woman walks into the mens room. But if a man walks into the ladies room all Hades breaks out and there is likely a lawsuit!

Florida can't do that, per the Constitution. Of course they could vote to amend the Constitution but getting all 50 states to agree would be impossible. EDIT: I got a downvote. Are there really Americans who don't know that the right for women to vote is in the Constitution?

The states have their own legislatures and make their own laws. It rarely becomes a Federal issue unless someone can take it to the Supreme Court and have it ruled unconstitutional.

@Louisa, try reading some American newspapers. Biden is doing a lot to protect abortion rights but he can't change state laws since that isn't in his power to do. A lot of people also just don't pay attention to Biden because he isn't charismatic. That doesn't mean he isn't doing anything. Allowing abortion medication to be sent through the mail is one of the big things he has done. But, for the most part America is just too divided for one side or the other to win out on the abortion issue or any other issue. The problem is with the voters, not Biden.

not a great comparison Louisa. Trump and Clinton were in the news more for their outrageous behavior (both were impeached) then they were for their leadership. So based on a measuring system like that, you could say Santos is most effective person in congress right now.... also your understanding of an entire (diverse and complex) country being based on a few television sitcoms isn't going to work well either.
