‘Humans Of Capitalism’: 40 Pics That Look At Capitalism From A Sarcastic And Ironic Perspective (New Pics)
Things are feeling pretty darn dystopian right about now. Oh, capitalism has pretty much always seemed to have this edge of unfairness and greed to it, but these days, things are reaching nightmare levels of aaaaAAAA and No, God, Please, No! Inflation is rearing its ugly head and many workers feel like their wallets are getting thinner and thinner. Energy prices are up. The cost of rent is up. Food prices are rising faster than bread yeast. And the stock market is in a pretty confusing place. So, yeah, things are looking pretty grim. And with how everything is costing a bit extra, you (yes, you), have effectively taken a pay cut.
Angel, the founder and moderator of the ‘Humans of Capitalism’ Instagram page, documents the most egregious and dystopian examples of capitalism and corporatism, and shares them with their 351k-strong community of followers. We’ve collected some of their best posts, showing the worst side of the reality you’re currently living in, to share with you today, Pandas. Scroll down to lose your faith in humanity (though if you want it back again later, take a peek at our super wholesome post full of animals and awesome people).
If you enjoyed this list and would like to see some more apocalyptic, soul-draining economic stuff, feel free to check out Bored Panda’s previous feature of the ‘Humans of Capitalism’ project in this article right here.

Then why did the Ranger arrest me when I took a dump on a hiking trail?!!!!
Posit this: If animals were capable of manufacturing ease-of-life products, they would, and they would be completely unconcerned about where they left the trash from it. We know this because we too are animals.
You are perfectly correct. But the sign is still funny
Load More Replies...Sadly no, they want us to act like animals but when we do we're condemned for it..😂
Load More Replies...That's kinda funny lol what if there is a man eating bear!? Should you eat someone you see in the forest because you need to act like an animal!? 😂😂
Yup. And stop saying "expat" for Europeans or Americans who go live in another country, especially poorer countries. Just say "immigrant"
They're not immigrants though. An immigrant has the intention of staying permanently, while an expat is only there for work and usually for a fixed time frame depending on that employment.

Oh, absolutely. I would be fine with having about a 10th of what hey have, though

While the story has a sliver of truth (Reflective paint was tested on reindeer in Finland in 2014, the test failed along with similar others) the photo is fake and is part of a series by a visual designer and digital artist https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-glowingantlers-finland-idUSL1N2OP2K9
Thank you for fact-check link! Good detective work.
Load More Replies...But that's a good idea and shouldn't be on the list? Deer are free ranging and car drivers are well car drivers! The two shouldn't mess
I think it’s the fact that they had to make the solution in the first place for cutting down the deer’s habitat
Load More Replies...Male reindeer lose their antlers late autumn, and the dark winter nights last until mid/late February. Females keep their antlers (yes, reindeer are the only deers where females have antlers) until their calves are born late spring. From that we can conclude that all reindeer pulling Santa's sleigh are females. Most reindeer in northern Finland Norway and Sweden are domesticated, wild reindeer are found in the mountains and forests further south.
They tried this in our area, but forgot that deer don't always just stand there looking cute. Many times they leap out of nowhere. Imagine seeing nothing but eye shine and glowing horns flying towards you in the dark. Hope you're wearing a diaper! 🤣
Making them easier prey for predators and hunters in the moonlight and twighlight.
During an earlier in-depth interview, Angel, the founder of ‘Humans of Capitalism,’ opened up about their project and shared their thoughts about economics with Bored Panda.
"I was inspired by a lot of things, like the absurdism of the current capitalistic system and its flaws, the injustice that 99% of the people experience every day while they are at work, shopping, and home," they told us about what made them create the Instagram page in the first place.
Might have been during covid lockdowns, and the lobby was closed.
Load More Replies...Is the line start from top right corner? Oh my, that a long que for a coffee.
Yeah I pass these people on my way to work everyday. There's even a cop in the lot because it gets backed up on the highway. Makes no sense
Load More Replies...Convenience. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
This must be old gas is now $7... But people still do this stupid c**p
I never understood this, even when I worked for SB. Where I live people regularly line up their cars at the local SB and wait, but right across the street there's another locally-owned coffee shop that they could easily go to. That coffee shop also has comfy couches and chairs, live music, poetry and open mic nights, a fortune teller works there, and they even put on short plays (some of the staff are theater actors). Why the f**k would you choose to go to SB when you have the other, more interesting, friendly, and inviting place you can go to?
That's because they prioritize the drive-thru. I walked in once for a drink, waited 15 minutes !! for it while they were preparing all the drive-thru orders. They only started on my order when it calmed down. Never went there again.
I know! All those parents with their engines idling for sometimes 30 minutes! I can't believe they don't turn their cars off. I always do, and it never gets too hot or cold. Deal with it.
Load More Replies...This is so stupid - those arrogant anti American posts here on bored panda. Clean up in front of your own doors before you point to others! This site has turned from a fun entertaining site to an US bashing one. Of course there are more than enough things to criticize about the US but it is becoming ridiculous here!
We could spend the money making a place for homeless to go. Instead we'll make sure they sleep on the ground. Pathetic.
The "myself" looks greyed out (i.e. it would not do anything if clicked). Presumably it's a standard "form" but that option has been disabled for when requesting death certificates.
You take one nap in a ditch at the park and they start declaring you this and that.
i used up all my sick days at work so i can go there, get my own death certificate and call in dead
One way to catch someone trying to fake their own death. Blast!... I've been had!
According to Angel, consumers are bombarded, non-stop, with information to build up their consumerist spirit so they can keep capitalism alive."A not-so-famous movie from the late '80s, 'They Live' (1988), explains this concept perfectly. I believe everyone should watch it if they want to combat the urge of consumerism and mind control," they told us.
In their opinion, “human greed cannot be measured,” which leads capitalism to evolve into corporatism.
I would buy that as long as I knew that none of the profits go to the terf who shall not be named
My workplace has a few child-friendly office rooms for short term situations when parents have no childcare available. It's actually a good thing, as the alternative would be unpaid leave for the parent. So this picture might simply be something similar.
Pretty sure this is not an office workspace but a *library* and the woman is simply a patron. So it's even less of an issue and in fact should be a no-brainer - I mean, what's the alternative, parents needing child care even for stuff they do in their leisure time?
Load More Replies...Hello, former library worker here. These pods are designed so parents can study, job hunt etc without having to keep an eye on the kidlet. As someone who spent a LOT of time chasing down toddlers because their parent was distracted by research etc, these are actually a good thing that is helping parents get stuff done while knowing their child is safe.
A public library builds a desk for parents with small kids to access needed services an this is seen a dystopian thing.... ?
This is clearly a library of some kind, and it's a very clever setup !
Absolutely not! I would've cried tears of joy seeing this when my kids were little
Load More Replies...I think it seems including and a good thing - in a library/public place. I'm thinking for necessary things like job searching. I don't see this as a good idea for working though... the kid won't be happy in there for long...so more of a temporary thing for a few minutes.
I recently miscalculated a time jump, and managed to revert to the body of a young boy in school uniform. I'm actually in my 30s. And female.
My husband once asked if I was an eight-year-old boy. That was setting the bar high, after I serenaded his morning toot with, "My husband faaaarted and there's gonna be troooouble!"
Load More Replies...This is a little misleading, it could easily be referring to the previous question.
You can tell there is more written there but the full picture has been cut off
Load More Replies..."We often see many small businesses collapsing because they are not able to fight with the current trend or to combat with the giant competitors. So they have two options, close the business or sell it," Angel pointed out that small businesses have to constantly compete with well-established, powerful companies.
Why even have an Amazon echo in a doctor's office? If it's for white noise, then white noise machines are cheaper and you don't have to worry about them listening in on confidential information. If it's for music, then it's the same story for a regular Bluetooth speaker.
That just begs the question of why is there an Amazon Echo in an exam room in the first place?
Why is there an internet enabled recording device in a medical setting anyway? Have you not heard of privacy laws and/or hackers?
Muted. Because output and input are at all related. Even if this read "microphone is stuffed with cotton," I still would not allow this office to treat me.
Amazing how many people have permanently open microphones into Apple, Amazon, Google, etc...and don't even realise that they *are* listening to you.
You don't think that suddenly you'll have all the right product recommendations for your ailments?
Load More Replies...Clearly that office uses an Amazon Echo, so they’re concerned with that device, not devices that they aren’t using. 🙄
Load More Replies...Unrelated, but when Pokémon Go first came out my cop husband had so many ‘suspicious loiter’ jobs. Public were calling in people hanging around waaay more than usual…. He said he only had to take one look at them standing there all bewildered and ask which Pokémon they were after. Obviously they’d show him, he didn’t just let weirdos wander about. He got to know heaps about Pokémon which was handy as a good rapport building tool for when he was interacting with young people.
Unless the Pokemon are Black, they were probably just as shitty at that job.
They're fired for playing Pokemon Go, but put on paid leave for shooting unarmed POC...
"We have many companies that have been bought by enormous giants that I do not want to mention and they won't stop there, they are trying to get their hands on any business category. Is there a solution for it? I believe that there can be some solutions, but capitalists will work and find a way to bypass those solutions and continue with the destruction of the system while being totally ignorant about it.”
Has to be America. If you fall and sprain your ankle plus dislocate your finger, will cost you 2 visits...
You can have more than one issue per visit. My doctor has these up at her office, but it's mainly to discourage those people who come in for a sore throat and then when the doctor is 99% done with the visit the patient goes "oh yeah, I forgot to mention. I've also been randomly passing out every day for 8 months." And the doctor's like *fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck* because basically they're starting the exam all over again. Used to happen to me all the time in vet medicine.
Load More Replies...To be fair, we have this in the UK, where Doctor (GP) visits are free. It's to help them keep on time - you can book a double appointment if you have multiple things to discuss.
Same in France, but I think it's more about parents who book an appointment for themselves but then show up with their kid(s) and ask for a family check-up to save 8.5 euros per kid.
Load More Replies...UK, one issue, 10 minutes allowed. If you want to talk about another issue you have to book another appointment. Standard.
Was told by a doctor, when enquiring about a couple more problems I'd been having, that only one problem at once on a ten minute consultation. So in future, I will have to book three appointments, thus taking up more of the doctors time. Barmy!
Happens here in Canada at some clinics. You get 10 min if you are lucky with a doctor. So they can only address one problem. Book multiple slots back to back. 😁
Tell me you're an overworked, hypochondria-averse doctor without saying so.
These are common in Urgent Care places I’ve seen-not everywhere is a “full service” clinic that is interested in fixing your chronic bronchitis and sleep apnea and looking at that weird growth on your toe, but I’ve never had any issue *scheduling* an appt to address more than one issue.
If you think this is dystopian, you've never had a struggle in your life.
Obviously, the label should not have been glued to the pan surface in the first place.
Probably neglected to read the "Remove this Sticker Before Heating" warning.
yeah I see where you're coming from. But some people only do just night-shift. It's quieter and one can sleep during the day time. :D
Load More Replies...Anyone who wants a White Castle burger at 3:00 AM is not likely to be someone I would want to meet, let alone serve.
Abandon your children in the dark of night to make a buck! Imagine some poor kid waking from a nightmare to go find the parent and the parent isn't even home.
I used to work at night (22:00 - 06:00). Best working times ! A colleague explained me that he could see his kids much more this way.
Is only possible if someone else takes care of the children. Otherwise it would only be possible to sleep between, maybe 8h and 13h.... Because there are still the children and house hold.
Load More Replies...STUPID. SO I COME HOME EXHAUSTED AND NOW HAVE TO WATCH A CHILD WHO IS WAKIG UP AND FULL OF ENERGY. STUPID.
They insist ypu must stay past 4 am, and your kids wake up to you not there.
Load More Replies...Yeah and if no one's at home be prepared to get social services on you and get arrested for being a bad parent. Kids should not be left alone even when alsleep. You should not leave your yard without an adult or older teenage child in the house and one that can actually watch your kids if something goes wrong. People please care about your kids. I have three it hard I know but I care. You can make up all the excuse you want but if you have to second think something with your 4 or younger child probably ant a good idea.
But what about the kids? Who watches them? Im not leaving my kids home alone idgaf if they are sleeping! Not for no job!
In their opinion, all systems, whether we’re talking about capitalism or socialism, can eventually become corrupt. This happens when ‘bad’ behavior isn’t punished.
"If we go back in time where socialism or communism were at their prime, we can see that the top of the head of the system was corrupted and that resulted with the fall of the system," they pointed out that corruption was endemic in these cases.
This may not be dystopian, just out of context. Some japanese companies allow nap breaks in the afternoon.
I want an afternoon nap break! I would be so much more productive afterwards.
Load More Replies...Time to start petitioning my boss to let us install some of these in the office. Employee of the year gets a bonus teddy bear!
I've begged my company to provide 'map pods' where you set a timer, crawl in, and shut the door for total darkness. 10-15 minutes on the timer would recharge me for the rest of the day! So far, no go. Boo!
We used to have this in our country too, until I left kindergarten. Bring back the pillow room!
If you work in a nursery, you get to cuddle with the kids in the sleeping room. It's dark and cosy, relaxing music is playing...my favourite part of the (work) day. We don't get to fall asleep, however 😅
Load More Replies...This isn't capitalism... this is customary in some Asian countries.
These places have employees that are happy and healthy. An afternoon nap, yes please!
In Germany there's currently a scandal relating to that... a politician requested the numbers of livestock (specifically, cattle) that die before ready to be slaughtered - and those numbers can be *as high as 20%*!!! Meaning, in the worst factory farms 1 in 5 animals dies prematurely and is cremated instead of slaughtered! People in the industry are denying it of course, but knowing the abhorrent conditions in some factory farms... it sounds quite believable. And apart from basic moral/ethical issues, it's also super wasteful! I don't think standard comparisons between factory farms and more ethical farms take into account the reduced mortality rate of live stock. They should. 20% is not a small amount! That's a huge amount of animal feed, water, space, and antibiotics spent on what ends up as a pile of ashes. Do ethical animal farms really need that much more resources than factory farms when compared by output of *actual* animal product and not just respources per animal?
What does it say that a company sees that as more cost effective than actually having the cow be outside?
That wasn't the actual reason the project was undertaken. In many northern parts of the world, it is entirely impossible for cows to be outside year-round. Cows are able to suffer from seasonal depression, just like humans. This experiment was an attempt to alleviate that.
Load More Replies...they should be able to live in fields rather than just see them as virtual reality. They need to run and play
Just like we think today "i can't believe slavery was legal, I can believe women could vote". In 50 years we might say "I can't believe people ate animals"
Gosh, I hate that animals are having to take this trippy journey with us.
Yeah if I had a few mins to wait in this situation and nothing else to do….I’m sorry y’all but I’m taking a selfie, for the memory if nothing else, I’ll take the judgment. I remember that. The idiot decided to drive her car on ice. It was not an accident, it was stupidity. She almost hit some kids who were skating. She was charged.
Screw-it... let her sink, if she's that self absorbed. >rolls eyes<
According to Angel, humanity as a whole may be moving toward a “utopia” of "automated communism where machines will produce, deliver, and take care of food supply, clothing, health." Though that still leaves the question as to who will control the distribution system and how it operates. That’s where the power is. What’s more, some people will end up losing their jobs as they become replaced by machines.

How is it related to capitalism? Some people really throw this word for no reason at all, they jut want to be angry at society.
It's related to capitalism because people are making money off streaming something that should generally be an intimate family moment, and this is an example if some girl doing her makeup presumably for her social media followers to make money from. That's the idea - people selling off their special moments to strangers, even selling off the baby's first moments, for money. That's capitalism.

That happened to my sister at work. She’s a teacher for disabled children and they like to scream… a lot
"The idea of getting free food, water, health, clothing, is nice and, in reality, if we take a closer look at the current system we can see that more people are let off and replaced by machines. For example, we can see that McDonald's workers are fired and they have been replaced with machines that work on touch or by sound and they take orders, forward orders to the employees, etc."
Change of mind, fortunately, it won't be dismantled https://www.dutchnews.nl/news/2022/06/rotterdam-bridge-wont-be-demolished-for-jeff-bezos-yacht-trouw/
The dismantling of the horizontal span of the De Hef Bridge was requested by Oceanco Shipyard and authorized by the city of Rotterdam. This allowed the shipyard to take the job and create occupation in the main facility. The bridge -which is not in current use and has been listed as national monument- would have been partially dismantled for about a week to allow the passage. In the meanwhile, some routine maintenance works would have been done and the bridge passageway restored in place after the passage. The same had been done from 2014 to 2017 with little concern. Local opposition threatened violent action against workers, so the plan was scrapped on safety grounds. The yacht will be sailed unfinished to another location and completed with the masts there, hurting job opportunities in the city but with little to no impact on Bezos. Good job, i guess?
Why not? Bezos, and I'm anything but a fan, was going to pay for dismantling __and restoration_. The bridge would have come out in better shape. The whole thing is just people looking for a fight.
Load More Replies...this is from a zoo that actually has much larger enclosures than pictured.
Looks like the one here in Canberra, which features a "zoo lodge", actually. And yes, the animal enclosures are nice and big.
Load More Replies...I don't see this as bad. Tigers are endangered in the wild, so keeping them in captivity can help save the populations. This is probably a resort, which is just a way for wealthy people to help fund such projects. This is actually an example of capitalism working well
And to think there are still tons of influencers doing huge SHEIN hauls....
Disgusting how companies, the media, Politicians, shady charities, and others try to profit from tragedies. It's sick. Wish I believed He'll was real.
Its honestly disgusting, I've legitimately seen Malcolm X shirts at hot topic next to posters of anime girls with their shirts up. Please stop disrespecting black activists, their life's work is not your brand.
What about people wanting to genuinely suplort their cause or who might be black, too. If they bought a shirt, is that disrespectful, too? I mean, i am against the blatant disrespect in this pix, but generalizing like you did seems a bit extreme.
Load More Replies...This is why as a black person I have mixed feelings about Juneteenth (OUR HOLIDAY AS BLACK PEOPLE!) being a federal holiday. Companies profit the f**k out of our achievement. How dare they. I'm SICK of seeing companies doing this s**t. WTF?
Shein is a China company. Usually I tolerate Chinese companies but this one really pisses me off. Shein probably did this as a service to their comrades. Well, too bad, MLK still lives on.
He'd be here if he wasn't assassinated. That's the sad part, he would have been old
Load More Replies...The founder of ‘Humans of Capitalism’ told Bored Panda that, eventually, more and more people will lose their jobs due to automatization with barely any need for human input. That way, businesses will be able to maximize their profits and reduce employee costs.

About as useful as sending 'thoughts and prayers' after yet another mass shooting,
"I believe that 50 years from now machines will provide food, clothing, healthcare services, and much more, by themselves, with little to no employees monitoring them. But there is an issue with that. You will leave millions of people jobless and cause huge riots as the famous quote from Jean-Jacques Rousseau goes: 'When the people shall have no more to eat, they will eat the rich.'"

Load More Replies...Better than how people handle such incidents here. Both parties start raging, arguing and fighting over who was wrong right in the middle of the freaking road and blocking traffic
Yeah I barely barely bumped a guy once. (Long red light and I was distracted, lifted my foot off the gas just enough that I crept forward and booped his booty - my car computer told me I wasn’t even going 1km/hr during those minutes. He threw a huge fit in the middle of the road and demanded I pay him $300 cash. (Random amount??!)I just took photos of “the damage” (there was none) and told him insurance would contact him. Still raging in the middle of the road with people staring as I hurriedly drove away. I filed a report and since there wasn’t even a scratch, he got nothing. Never even heard back from ICBC. Screw that guy. Glad I didn’t get intimidated into giving this idiot cash.

This is probably a way to raise funds for the zoo. I know people get upset about zoos, but a zoo in this day and age is not just for entertainment. They exist now for education and species survival and are closely monitored. A zoo can lose it's access to animals if they don't meet the required guidelines.
This may not be as cruel as your initial gut reaction tells you it is. At the Elephant Nature Park sanctuary in Thailand for example, the elephants are free to roam as they please, but at night are put into large pens to keep them from escaping. The money that comes in from tourists helps fund the sanctuary to rescue elephants from logging enterprises
All that steel and concrete... no grass, no trees, no natural light... :.(
As someone who has had coke a year past its expiration date, I must disagree
Load More Replies...The issue is that expiry dates on food are nonsense. Good food is constantly wasted because dumb people believe the 'best before' means the food is no longer edible.
Soft drinks don't expire. The date on a soda can is either a "best before" or a "made on" date.
I remember a post where a customer said that in France and the employee was like "We're in France. We decapitate kings here".
Not sure how this shows 'most egregious and dystopian examples of capitalism and corporatism'?
destroy a tree's natural shade-giving foliage so you can strap an umbrella to it to get shade.
Load More Replies...Cut down a shade giving tree and turn what’s left into an umbrella stand in order to provide shade. Got it.
If the tree had branches and leaves, there would be no need for an umbrella in it. Not sure if it's an example of capitalism and corporatism or more a case of over-zealous tree-pruner.

I've been taken around it on tours when visiting the Beijing for work- people are genuinely proud of it! Also worth noting that the shougang itself was designed by one of the leading architects at Tsinghua university, which again is hugely significant as many of the 2008 olympics buildings were designed by Western architects, not domestic ones. The decision to build the park here was rather like the decision by London to locate the Olympics in Stratford. Hugely symbolic, and a catalyst for regeneration. It's this sort of ignorance about modern China that really annoys me.
Nothing says Winter Olympics like the majestic power plant scenery and artificial snow!!!
Isnt that better than cutting down a bunch of trees so it can be in a nice forest?
I wonder if there's a Zelenskyy funkopop yet? Well hey, I'd be happy to add one next to my Frontline COVID Worker and Australian Bushfires Firefighter funkopops. One more hero in the group. :)
That's awesome.... Wish I'd known about it before it sold out. Does not belong on this list
It does belong on the list. People didn't buy these because they support Ukraine; they bought them because they are a prime collector's item and sure to be worth beaucoup bucks at a later time.
Load More Replies...Jesus Christ this is pathetic. People will try to make a profit anywhere. Oh look, Zelensky got 100 strength and Putin hid in a bear cave because you sold this plastic c**p. Trying to ride the wave of Zelensky support and gain some popularity as well, while you scratch your a*s with little plastic Zelenskys. Pathetic.
It specifically says up the top that they were selling it to raise funds for the Ukraine. Just like those Funkopops I mentioned earlier, which were also part of a charity fundraising drive.

It's just a funny coincidence. It could just as easily be an imam or the pope. You don't have to take everything deadly seriously.

No context. Kids all over the world like having their photo taken and then being shown the results.
The person who installed this must have been thinking "wait a minute..."
Not going to lie, that would be the only way I'd consider doing that job!
What?! A nun can't sit with sunglasses, sipping an energy drink and own an iPhone now?
"Nuns aren't allowed to have fun. They're just supposed to pray all day!"
That's a fake campaign from a fake crowdsourcing site called JumpKick. It's a satirical website cofounded, written and edited by Peter Clark-Deutsch (@PeterClarkJokes). The character in the photo is called in the description "Pinkie_RoseNymph", an handle that does not exist on twitch. https://jumpkick.net/i-accidentally-mentioned-that-i-have-a-boyfriend-and-lost-half-my-twitch-subscribers/
You’re literally like an encyclopedia 😂 every time I see your comments you’re always giving detailed explanations ( not complaining btw, I appreciate it) .

The advertising needs to be approved by the city or local cultural heritage agency, is temporary and brings in enough money to allow works that could not have been otherwise possible without serious strain to the city or superintendence coffers. By selling ad space on an already financed intervention it is often possible to pay for the renovation of a lesser monument for which financing would have been hard.
When Venice restored the Bridge of Sighs they sold ad space for the duration of the works, about 6 months, bringing in 1,4 million euros that were later spent to renovate the adjacent palatial buildings. Those buildings were not "historical" enough to merit a direct financing by the government or European funds (while the bridge was), but were integral part of the sight.
Load More Replies...It would be covered and tourists would be disappointed even without the ad. There's scaffolding for a restoration behind it.

I can see a lot of problems happening if they don't scan. We still have issues getting microchips on our bank cards to work right. Plus, this looks painful to get.
Bing! 😁 This is why there in a universal place to microchip pets (between the shoulder blades) Microchips can migrate, so it gives care workers a place to start scanning. Years later. I've found them on the chest, hip, legs...Pro tip, if you ever find a stray and have it scanned, make sure they wand the entire body.

I totally would get this, I lose my cards on a regular basis so thus would save me some amount of hassle

The cashier was being pedantic. The lady wasn't a customer, her husband was, so she didn't get the key. Even then, he wasn't a customer until he paid for the petrol.
Load More Replies...The reason a lot of shops this is because customers often are awful about not leaving a mess the employees have to clean up later.
Reminds me of a petrol station in Wales. We had pulled in for fuel and my husband was filling up, I went in to get the key for the toilet, they refused to give it to me as it was for customers only, I pointed to my husband filling up (the only other person in the place) they said once he comes in and pays we will give you the key. I said you have two choices, you can either give me the key, or you can mop up the puddle from your floor (it had been a long drive and a long time since our last comfort break!) They reluctantly gave me the key to what turned out to be one of the most disgusting toilets I have ever been in. It hadn't been cleaned in years, I could have peed on the floor in there and improved it. Puke. No soap of course! My husband was about to pay for the petrol when I came out and was looking at the made in store sandwiches, I told him not to and why. That was the only loo for staff and customers. Vomit.
You didn't pay for petrol because they had a filthy toilet? How does that work? Was it worth the enormous bill they sent later?

Yep, 20 years ago it might have been a book or magazine, it's no different!

I’m pretty sure it’s without more than just palm oil (as it says in the lower part of the package).
The issue is the lack of cocoa. Compare the picture with the actual thing.

Maybe the display is from some sort of memorial or museum of a Quilombo (hinterland settlement from the colonial period founded by escaped slaves). Or else it might be from a store that sells items related to Afro-Brazilian religions.
That's not USA (most likely Brazil). Many countries have come to reconciliation with the slavery in their past, and recognize it as a part of their history, without the "moral baggage" and social issues it still has in the US. This may very well not be controversial in local culture as it would be in the States.
if it was in america. In brazil it might mean something else. There's a statue of an enslaved person breaking his chains in africa.

What’s wrong with this? They’re getting to see what the site looked like back in the day as part of the tour.
What's wrong with that? It's a "VR Enhanced" tour of the Fori Imperiali in Rome. You go around with a tour guide, check the remains and then pop on your Oculus visor and see a reconstruction of how it was back then. I think it's an amazing way of engaging in the architectural and archaeological story of the city, providing some actual added value to the guided tours of the city.
Why do stupid people do things like this and think it is clever...
As someone who travels alone, this makes sense! A selfie with the train as it goes around a corner, why not?
How is that capitalism ? It looks like a touristic railway and she's taking a selfie, where's the problem ?
This is about the third list I have seen this picture on. BP, why is this allowed?
At least half of these are not "dystopian" they're mainly clickbait headlines designed to elicit a response from people who think everything to do with the modern world is bad.
