I hate my primitive, horrible fridge, but I must also admit, I'd be terrified to have one of these AI-type "smart" fridges. I can just imagine it judging my every move: I open it in the morning to get cream for my coffee, and it says: "Please Note, you are not preparing a balanced breakfast. Kindly access egg carton from lower shelf." Then later: "It's 8 pm, and I notice you just opened a bottle of white wine, but you have not removed any leftover saag paneer or peppers and Beyond Sausage to fix for dinner. Are you planning to drink your dinner, you degenerate?"
The company I work for have just developed a IoT thermostat, so you can check the temperature of your hot water anywhere in the internet connected world. You can't control it remotely, just monitor it.Why ??!

Mine just pings all the time whilst I am putting stuff in or taking stuff out and it thinks I am taking too long.
Most fridges, if levelled correctly, will close their own door unless you've pulled it *wide* open
worse, it shares your number with its friends. “Hey, I hear you’re a lot of fun. I’m open if you are.”
Imagine how annoying it would be to be away from home and get that message. Then you have to ring whoever is in the house and tell them... or alternatively you just found out the person burgling your house is peckish.

I have a fridge that when you shut the bottom door, the freezer door pops open!!! Grrrr
Kid and Pets both have a tendency to climb into the fridge for food, if the door auto closes it can be a life hazard.

I must be a traditionalist despite being a millennial because what this person is describing is one of the reasons why I won’t touch those apps with a 10-foot pole. I actually watched a show the other day where the girl sees the back sliding door open, closes it to see the reflection of the killer in the glass, and as she turns around, the sliding door starts opening while she's still holding it and starts screaming. Here's a hint, open the door, step through and run like heck! Wait to scream until you're running away!
