As long as people throw around some questionable bits of wisdom like it's no big deal, we have the unofficial karma police, aka ‘murderers by words.’ Except murder by words has nothing to with violence, weapons, or blood, which makes the act inherently peaceful, yet brutally powerful.
It’s because the fight is fueled by words, but not by any words. I mean witty, well-argued, and solid arguments that pierce straight through misinformation, fake news, and any other online BS that's so prominent these days. The targets can be anyone from Covid deniers to anti-vaxers to flat earthers and extreme right Trump supporters who support the Capitol riots or similar bursts of terror. And when the words come back, they do so with double the initial power.
Thanks to the prominent corner of Reddit known as the subreddit “Murdered By Words,” the karma evening selection of putdowns, clapbacks, and counter-arguments are in to show that everything you utter in this world can come back to you. I hate it when people give advice like this on something that probably know little to nothing about. It's not like us people who have depression wake up in the and say "I wonder what I can be upset about today?". Having depression is not as simple as just getting over it and the medication helps.
I was told that the cure to my depression is to work, because my illness obviously comes from being bored. I was told to eat healthy. I was told to run. I was told to marry. I was told to think positive. I was told to get a grip on myself. Yet, the only thing what really pulled me through, were PILLS. Depression is not a modern illmess, it is not a fake thing with which bored housewives come up. Depression can and will kill people, as it used to do so, back even several hundreds of years ago when medicine and professional doctors were not around. And even with all modern help, depression, just like any mental illness, can be deadly.
I've had depression, anxiety and ptsd since I was a young child. I cannot tell you how many times some dumb bitch in my own family told me to get over it and stop being a problem child or to cheer up and get over it. I've been on pills since the fifth grade. Oh look, my ptsd, depression and anxiety are still there.

Studies have shown that exercise can improve mild to moderate depression, so it's definitely part of treatment that shouldn't be overlooked. But for a lot of people (myself included) it's only PART of the treatment, not a cure. You and your doctor should come up with a treatment plan together, which might include things such as exercise, medication, or therapy. There's no "one size fits all" approach to mental illness.
Wow. Just wow. I suffer from depression, and let me tell you, the medication DOES work. Sure, exercise can make you feel a bit better, but it's not the best treatment.
I'm depressive and have educated myself a lot on this topic. Physical Excercise and fresh air is a big help agsinst depression. But if you're really deep down the depression, first Step is to get enough Motivation and energy back to physically excersice, so therapy and rattling pills are like a most needed crutch to get on your feet again. Without the crutch you tumble and fall back.

She is the one who went off saying that it was wrong to call a beautiful little boy who was born with a part of his brain missing "he" as anyone born like that are not really human and should be referred to as "It". She went on to also say she would never let her children play with a a child with such a name. She has a daughter called India and when the host took her up on that she reckoned India wasn't a place. The comment makes sense to anyone who has not been in depressions shoes. Real depression, not I has a bad day, or week, went for a run, now feel better. Does exercise help, yes, when you’re doing it. Then when it’s over, all the feel good endorphins have dissipated and you’re back laying in bed thinking the world is closing in on you (which is not happening in reality but it certainly is the mental battle taking place for that sufferer). Shame on anyone that takes MH lightly.

Speaking as someone with diabetes ... If someone told me, "What you need is not insulin but to eat right and exercise more", there would actually be a lot of truth in that. There are two equally bad extremes here. Not taking medicine that could save your life or reduce your suffering is foolish. But trying to fix everything with a pill instead of healthy living habits is also foolish.
Exercise will do wonders for your mind body chemistry though, and increase the same chemicals that get increased by medications, in some situations. Not all. And of course people need doctors and pills. But the uglies love to downplay exercise as a physical remedy for any body problems, because they want an easier way.

People who have epilepsy(May 2020), like me, definitely do not need to take an anti-seizure prescription that is constantly subject to change for an indefinite amount of time. And I definitely don't need MRIs every year to monitor my brain tumor's growth, ever since I was diagnosed in August 2013, the interval of which is also constantly subject to change.

Katie is more right than you give her for. Depression doesn't require a wheelchair or a prosthetic, normally, but if a depressed person has no physical impediments, then getting a person up and moving is a solid treatment.
i feel like perhaps you've never been clinically depressed. it's extremely difficult in the depths of depression to find any logical reason to get up and exercise, or shower, or eat a decent meal, or do laundry. depression can also lead to physical issues, including pain and fatigue, which leads to more depression a lot of times.
