Most of the world associate Canada with maple syrup, niceness, and more maple syrup. But the truth is... the country stereotypes aren't that far from the truth, actually. Just with a few extra weird details. Like, super social moose or friendly police officers. Exotic, I know. To give you a better idea about the Canadian stereotypes, Bored Panda has compiled another list of funny photos that perfectly describe the Great White North. So put on your parka, continue scrolling and enjoy.

Load More Replies...Great in theory but liable to be abused. What about male sexual predators who pretend that they belong in a female toilet ?
That's what your gut/instincts are for... this is just a general guideline, obviously if something doesn't seem right don't just let it go. Duh.
Load More Replies...In the US this would result in a series of lawsuits and a flurry among local legislatures.
In the US, people want to be respected without respecting others.
Load More Replies...I am an American and was raised with the concept of none of your business. So unless a person looks scary, very unlikely with a male to female transgender person, I don't care.
seriously? you ever watch the macho maam video?
Load More Replies...Unless they’re looking over the divider at you while you do your business. Then you can worry.
You're talking about men I guess seeing as I can't imagine a woman doing this. But unless they are a Grade A pervert, just being trans isn't going to make a difference, and most trans people I know are just grateful to be "allowed" to be themselves.
Load More Replies...Seeing how Canadians act, even the Officials and actual Corporations always embarrass the absolute s**t out of me since my Country teaches that only rich racist bigots white a*****e men close to death white old farts, along with being completely ran by big Corporations are actually relevant. Our Country allows an authoritarian whose over the white nationalist and is LITERALLY a textbook Narcissistic Psychopath. I've said, "Let's just move to Canada, at least they know how to act." too many times over the last 3 yrs.
Honestly this could simply be fixed with private bathrooms or some kind of uni-restroom with stalls that have good locks and no cracks to peak thru. If you're afraid your child is at risk then feel free to be a parent and accompany them instead of expecting the world to protect them. I wish I could honestly say that the children of the world, women, the elderly, and weak aren't preyed upon but they are.. Why would a pedophile choose now to start abducting and assaulting children in literally the most obvious and expected way. If a restroom is busy enough for you to acknowledge there's a person who may look masculine walking through then chances are it's too busy for anyone to do anything and not get caught. Most child predators are relatives or family friends. It's not a person wearing a trench coat offering kids candy and ice cream anymore. Check the people in your life that's close to you and quit worrying about where people take a s**t! Maybe we could save a child then.
Yep sure the guy with a ugly oily mustache and a camera is supposed to be in the women's bathroom
If someone's taking pictures at a bathroom, it's illegal regardless of gender.

Canada is the gentler, kinder society that President Bush wanted the USA to become.
As did Obama! But unfortunately, most of the human race AREN'T kind
Load More Replies...Yes HOWEVER some people are straight up pervs and will use the opposite bathroom to be a perv!
There's nothing keeping them from going to the opposite bathroom to perv now, is there? The bathroom doors are open for anyone, so they can already do it if they want to
Load More Replies...If Canada is so considerate etc. to its own, why does it treat the indigenous population so badly?
I would walk straight out. And before you start insulting, that is MY right.
Yes, it is YOUR right to walk straight out. And not insulting to anyone. Where will you go pee then? just curious
Load More Replies...I keep hearing about kids getting rape and molested becuse of this c**p.
I agree; there are far more important things and critical issues people should worry about.
What do people think they are going to see? If you are a woman, you should be in a stall even if you are changing clothes.. if you are a man, they will see your back at a urinal or you are in a stall. ???

LOVE this. Trump has definitely made Canada so much more appealing to me than it used to be. Can we get one for every bathroom stall door in the House and Senate?
This should be banned and the practice stopped - Especially thanks to self identifying as trans -women and children are being raped and assaulted in their own spaces - those with a penis can also still get aroused at watching others undress in change rooms - so this campaign has got to stop
Actually they don't. They need help for their gender dysphoria mental illness
nice to see that, but what if some pervert walks in to the women bathroom claiming he belongs there, I don't think anyone would want that
Trans people are not more perverted than other people. Bad apples in any category
Load More Replies...If my daughter or my wife is in there and a dude thinks he "knows" where he belongs he can rest assured that I will make him KNOW THAT HE IS A MAN.
If my daughter or wife is in there and you "Know" where you belong and are not a woman, trust me when I say I WILL MAKE YOU REMEMBER YOU ARE A DUDE.
There are only two genders, easily determined by whether you have a d**k or a pussy.... Yes, it really is as simple as that
In america this sign should be present and have another line that says "if you have a problem with this then YOU are the problem, not them." I would also add something like "dickweed" "a*****e" or similar but that's just me
if you see my d**k in the women's bathroom don't worry about it...just smile and carry on
How do you live with so much hate in your sad little life? I would report this if I knew how.
Load More Replies...Here's a fun fact about life in Canada. Canadians like to say "sorry" so much, they passed the "Apology Act" to limit its use. In the past, lawyers in court were probably able establish guilt quite easily. All they needed to do was prove someone apologized at the time of the incident and things would start going their way.
The Things You See In A Northern Canadian Town
So Canadian lawmakers made it clear that an apology of any kind “means an expression of sympathy or regret” and not “an admission of fault or liability in connection with the matter to which the words or actions relate.”

Choose your cities wisely, my son. A LOT of big cities have a large amount of a##holes (Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal). Smaller places are much nicer. I highly recommend places in British Columbia's Okanagan area (Vernon, Kelowna) - absolutely gorgeous to visit in winter or summer! Americans are a rougher, more individualistic, take easy offense breed. We need to embrace our high crime rate, high incarceration rate, politically divided, low social safety, bragging about making money through dubious means, racially polarized, military glorified, patriotism-as-a-weapon of intolerance society, because a large percentage of the people want it that way, and politicians are not going to change anything.

I live in Canada. Its pretty decent. Like, if there's a missing kiddo, they get found in a few hours or a day. But Canada still has some up and downs.
Would love to go see & visit ALL of Canada at least once in my/our (I'm married 19+yrs) life time. Especially while we still can. We all know life throws curve balls our way and we just cannot get put the way or catch em quick enough and sometimes the repercussions/consequences can be such a hard ball to swallow but we've been through many of these things before and always have came up on top. Not Without lots of time, energy, stress, arguments, depression, financial turmoil, many other hardships, hurt, anger, pain, o overwhelmed, discouragement, depression and doubt, guilt, and shame. There is always good after the bad and without these dark times in our lives, we wouldn't appreciate the light when it came. So WOW! YEAH! Ok. I got deep there for a minute maybe just a little TOO DEEP, TOO LONG, & Absolutely lost in some serious thought & flashes of things past but anyways, after all said and done, the point is still the same. We would love to go visit beautiful Canada because that's what we've heard about it, that it's BEAUTIFUL, NICE, WARM, FRIENDLY, & most important to us not as much B.S, MF, INTOLERANCE, PREJUDICE, HATE, IGNORANCE, VIOLENCE, WAR, CRIME, INJUSTICE, POLICE BRUTALITY, UNJUSTIFIED & FALSE ARREST & JACKED UP CHARGES, RACIALLY PROFILED WHEREVER YOU GO BY WHO YOU'RE WITH &/OR WTF WE LOOK LIKE!!! So yes here my a*s goes again on a long rampage in t@
Canadian geese are illegally migrating to my area. They've terrible. They're noisy, aggressive, consume our resources and leave messes everywhere. We need stricter border controls and maybe a really tall fence. Current methods aren't working because they don't really taste that good.
One of my favourite stories to tell people about about being Canadian is the time about 15 years ago, some friends and I were jamming in our garage and lost track of time. The neighbours called the police and said there was some wild party going on next door. Two officers on bicycles showed up and found 3 20-somethings very stoned and kind of drunk, playing instruments. The one cop laughs and says they thought they were coming to break up a highschool party. They say nothing about the huge bag of weed on the table (this is 2003ish, so it wasn't legal yet,) and mentions that he plays drums. So we apologized for the noise, grabbed the acoustic guitars and the brushes (to quiet the drums) and jammed with 2 bike cops for a good half hour before they got a call and had to leave, and wished us a good night.
Lived there for two years while studying from Argentina. The people, places and multicultural society were, are and will be amazing for sure. Best country in the planet, period.
I live in Ottawa, Canada. It is prety accurate haha police is usually very nice too.
One of the things I loved about Canada was that even though the weather was cold and wet and icy, there were so many people walking outside (like I was) and I noticed three things. 1. A lot of them were out walking their dogs. 2. A lot of them were holding hands with someone. 3. Pretty much all of them smiled or nodded when they passed me. Just random strangers, smiling, holding hands and walking dogs. Talk about a perfect place.
Wait for me,Iam moving there too.I thought this was so interesting, please tell us more.
Life seems so comfortable there, even in the cold. That’s crazy! In a good way. I’m a really patriotic American and there’s no doubt we are insane and insist on doing everything as if it were a death match. But my Iranian heart loves that about USA. Still, Canada is like what America would be if America grew up, settled down and raised grandchildren. Right now America is like an angsty teen.
It is not always cold! Summer time- it can be quite hot. Winter- It can be quite cold Spring- Weather is usually perfect. Fall- Like Spring but a bit colder!

You can call me a frog, a quebecoise, a french, what ever make you happy, but I still love my country. Please don't make the actions of a few ruin a good place. Have a great day!
Load More Replies...I'm born and bred in Ontario Canada. Verbally/online the only people that are consistantly(and for decades)rude to Canadians -would be..Americans. Those ones, highly underestimate Canadians. Particularly those of us that live in cold cold crazy weather. They think because we are friendly and say sorry alot makes us weaker then them. Canadians have accepted in approx 9.5million refugees in crisis the last few decades yes, but during attacks eg:911 or tragedies like the Titanic, we have opened our homes(for free) to stranded families all over our country. Literally, in our homes, beds, clothes etc. Most of us believe, "I hope if I ever got stuck like this that someone would take my family in." I think some people don't realize we are the first to volunteer to help people in trouble. Heck we haven't had conscription(the draft) since 1917. America was 73. The reason? We volunteer immed. That being said, now I must say sorry. Sorry for typos or bad grammar. I don't have my glasses on! 🤗😉

It's things like this that encourage the smugness i've encountered so often, particularly in relation to out neighbours to the south

Just lovely! You are our soul-siblings. Gruezi and love from Switzerland on (nearly) your special day.

Canada will actually pay you to move there and be a normal working person. I forget what all the stipulations are but I think it's cool they are proud and secure enough to invite people to move there
“My bags are packed, I’m ready to go.... Just not crazy about the winters and moose down Main Street. But it all seems so civilized, especially in comparison with the c**p we’re living in here.
Some people from my cold area, move to British Columbia, however their winter consists of much rain, therefore they move back, well, you don't have to shovel rain, and require no heavy winter clothing, also B.C. is beautiful !!!
Most of these kind posts brought a tear to my eye. Even we 'supposedly' polite Brits can't match up to Canadian courtesy and kindness.
And yet, can we just talk about the treatment of the indigenous people by...shocker...Canadians? Yes, many other cultures are to blame for the same thing but if you promote how nice you are you really need to address other things.
let's say that what these photos show are details, which stand out in the whole. because if really all of Canada has this kind of behavior, this attitude towards justice, loyalty, compliance with laws and rules, then it really is a piece of another planet transported to earth. and in any case I would really like to be able to move to a place where crime has its moral, however, where the police have the time and the numbers, to be able to start playing with children on the street, and above all where the children don't pull molotovs on the machines of the police shouting ACAB, acronym of "All Cops Are Bastards"
I live in California, USA and this stuff is a little weird, but I admire the kindness.
Some parts of Canada, the winters are not so bad, our winters here can be severe !!!
Not where I live on the west coast - Vancouver Island. We moved here from Alberta to get away from the freezing cold winters - had had enough after 44 years! Love the winters here - hardly any snow with temps averaging 47 degrees. Can still sit out on a patio and drink yummy coffees. And the summers are spectacular with the temps averaging between 72 and 85. Just thought I'd let you know.🙂
Load More Replies...So Moving to Canada. My son tells me I am too friendly/polite to be a New Zealander lol. Once I get rid of the kids here I come :)
Now how about talking about all the indigenous communities that don't have access to clean water? What about the enormous disparities between rich and poor? What about the tar sands witch we continue to exploit in the name of "economic growth" even tough it's the DIRTIEST petrol of all? What about police brutality or systemic racism? What about dental care and eye care being out of the free health care system? No, canada isn't all fun and games all the time.
Nicholas, our healthcare system is NOT free. It's paid for through our income taxes and covers basic hospital and doctor fees. In most provinces eye care is covered for children up to 18, and seniors over 65. It is up to you to buy additional coverage for your needs. If you are that unhappy living here, you would be hard pressed to find somewhere better. No country/city is perfect. Good luck in your futile pursuit for perfection.

I almost got hit by a car twice. But.... China is also beautiful with lots of places to go to. Oh yeah and also, the toilets are the type you have to squat to pee in.
😂😅. Omg dude get out of there and may I suggest go straight to Canada not stay overs no delays get to Canada 😁
Load More Replies...I was in Canada four years ago and absolutely loved it and vowed if anyone ever pulled the plug out of Australia ( Uluru) and it sank that is where I would live. The people the places the humour the sheer niceness of the Canadians they just take the cake. Another trip in the near future I hope.
I know Canadians that moved to Australia. They said it was the only other country they would live in.

Load More Replies...To Aunt Messy: Don't you think that you may be generalizing a bit much? I'm from Quebec city, I speak both languages and I DO NOT WANT to separate from Canada. My opinion on this issue must be shared by many people since the separation has not happened (and will not be happening, I'm sure).
Great attitudes great people.......wish some of that would drift south we NEED IT!!!
It's things like this that encourage the smugness i've encountered so often, particularly in relation to out neighbours to the south
My favourite country now is Canada. I will live there in the future.
Just lovely! You are our soul-siblings. Gruezi and love from Switzerland on (nearly) your special day.
Am so proud to be a Canadian especially on this Canada Day. I loved each and every picture, some I laughed out loud and am still smiling. Thank you for posting this
Canada will actually pay you to move there and be a normal working person.
Load More Replies...I actually discussed moving with my husband. Except I've lived in The deep south for my entire life, out winter is like 45° and I'd prob die if we moved
I'm moving to Canada. But not Quebec cause then I can't have Critical Role.
WTF? You're a little bonkers. Therapy would be a good thing for you. No wonder he left.
Load More Replies...It really is generally that good. People just seem to default to nice.
