Cats are notorious for bringing little sneaky gifts, often very gruesome, to their owners.
If you ever had a dead mouse brought to you by your clueless and loving furry friend, you know how it feels. And while you never asked for it, the gifts may leave you little option to say no.
It turns out that felines are far from the only generous critters. Dogs, aka the goodest bois and bestest gals, have also been bringing all kinds of stuff to their owners. Bored Panda has wrapped up this list of the funniest, most wholesome and plain weird pics of presents from pets.

This Kitty Waits For The Flowers To Fall And Carefully Selects The Best Ones To Bring As Gifts To Her Owner
He's hoping positive reinforcement will help him train his soft can-opener.
Much better than the live mice my cat brings in and releases.

I would hang it above my mantle- if I had one! But instead I’d blow it up on a huge canvas and put it above my couch!!!

I'm a dog person and love them way more than cats. Nothing against cats, I've just never had a good experience with them. The only cats that like me are my grandma's lol. Anyway, this seems like a cool cat.
See for me I'm the opposite. Dogs make me a bit nervous. Small ones and puppies are cute although usually too loud for me. Big dogs make me nervous. I know they're not going to hurt me but I'm still anxious around them.

My Chihuahua mix knows when you're upset. She crawls on your chest and buries her face in your neck and won't leave till you feel better.
Aww! My Chihuahua mix would literally kiss my boo boos. She also appointed herself my disabled mother's guardian. She wouldn't allow anyone she didn't know into my mother's room. We'd have to explain that the person was a friend and all was well. She would then jump up on mom's bed and "patrol", by walking up and down the adge in front of mom as long as the visit lasted. Usually, while growling. After almost 30 years, I still miss her.

I Was At Work And This Doggy Kept Dragging At My Pants And Brought Me To My Airpod That I Couldn’t Find For A Week. Thanks Doggy, Pat Pat
We may like to think of our pets bringing these surprising gifts to us as a sign of their care, love, and generosity, but Yulia Popyk, the animal behavior expert from Emergency Pet Fund, told Bored Panda in an interview via email that this is not the case. This behavior, according to Popyk, is more likely due to a combination of instinct, training, and a desire for attention or rewards.
“In the case of cats, their natural hunting instincts can drive them to bring prey to their owners. This behavior is often seen as a form of ‘gifting’ or offering, and it can be a way for the cat to demonstrate their affection or to establish dominance,” Popyk said.

dogs and cats know when someone is down. I was recently in the hospital, and my mum brought my cat with her. she had to beg the doctors and nurses, and they finally let her in. I cried I was so happy. she just curled up in my lap and didn't even try to get up and look around. they know.
Animals know our emotions a lot. When we cried, they will do anything to make sure we're okay.
Awww, first, a bath is probably what I need too. Second, I'm sorry you're crying about work. I'm in that place too. Reflect on yourself and your credibility got you this far, you are a Titan. You can lift yourself back up and keep going. 3rd, thank God for our little fur buddies to comfort us.
My Dog Grabs Things Around The House And Brings Them To Me For A Treat. Today, He Somehow Got This

Load More Replies...Didn't you see him cutting and pasting? He didn't "find" this, he "made" this. So much talent.
That's exactly what I was going to say...he's adorable!
Load More Replies...Meanwhile, in dogs’ case, the behavior of bringing things to their owners is often seen in breeds that were originally bred for hunting or retrieval, such as retrievers and spaniels. “These dogs have a strong instinct to retrieve and bring things to their owners, and this behavior can be further strengthened through training and positive reinforcement.”
Popyk argues that in both cats and dogs, “the behavior of bringing things to their owners can also be a way for the animal to seek attention or rewards, such as treats or praise. This reinforces the behavior and can lead to it becoming a habit.”

She Has Carefully Selected Each Leaf, Only Choosing Red Or Brown Ones, And Has Brought Them Inside One By One And Placed Them Outside My Bedroom. She Does This Every Day
My cat does this with her toy balls. I usually wake up to a line of them outside my bedroom door.
She sounds like a good candidate for one of those translator things that you put on the floor, and it says words as the cat presses the buttons
I had a cat, Snickers, who did this when he was a year old. When he was two it was cicadas (live). At three it was mice, then birds and then just assorted creatures.
The Best Part Of Waking Up Is Dog Toys In Your Cup
I love Staffies, get such a bad rap. I miss my little girl. Miss you Freckle. ♥
Adorable dog. My son's Pit mix brought his slobbering ball and dumped it on my pillow. In doggy language he said wake up now.
Maybe he wants to suck on coffee soked tennis balls.

Load More Replies...We also asked the animal behavior expert what makes cats bring mice, one of the most common gifts from a feline, to their owners. “Cats bring mice and other small prey animals to their owners as a way of showing affection and as a form of hunting instinct. Hunting is a natural behavior for cats, even for those that are domesticated and well-fed.”
Popyk continued: “By bringing prey to their owners, cats are essentially 'gifting' them and demonstrating their love and devotion. In the wild, cats hunt to provide food for themselves and their offspring, and this instinct remains strong in domesticated cats, even though they are no longer required to hunt for their food,” she said.

Butters Brought Me A Chicken Wing From Outside. It's Still Warm. Where Did You Get This?
You're lucky. I wouldn't have shared with Shyla. She eats chicken all the time, and makes me eat kibble!
My cat brought home a full semi-defrosted chicken on Sunday morning… We didn’t dare ask the neighbours who had lost Sunday lunch/dinner…
It happened with one of my cats, too, a long long time ago! He was able to understand whether the frozen piece my mum was taking out of the freezer was chicken... and one day seemingly he got bored to wait for chicken to arrive from us... so he brought at home an almost defrosted entire chicken, surely stolen in someone else's kitchen 😅

Been Feeding This Stray Cat For A Little Under A Year. Thought She Was Getting Fat. Turns Out She Had 3 Kittens And Brought Them To Me
So technically it's not aa stray cat anymore and you are a cat owner now (4 cat owner)
It works the other way with cats. Four cats now own this person and their home.
Load More Replies...Please get her spayed before she has more kittens, and those kittens have kittens, and then those kittens have kittens and then THOSE kittens have kittens etc etc!
That happened with abandoned cats in my neighborhood. Some people try to get them spayed but others just feed them and the pack grows.
Load More Replies...she is now your cat, if she trusts you with her kittens, thats a great sign that she wants to live with you and treats you as a friend
That's exactly how I ended up with momma and her five kiddies. She brought them to me one by one, carrying them by the neck
Once there was a stray cat mom in our neighborhood who brought her two kittens for me to watch them while she was gone. She left them with me and off she went. They were very shy at first but I managed to tame them and they ended up very affectionate kitties☺️. Half a year or so later mommy returned, stayed a couple of days and left with her kids. Never saw them again after that😔
However, Popyk warned that it is not recommended to encourage this behavior, as it can pose a health risk to both the cat and its owner since wild animals can carry diseases. If a case like this occurs (better safe than sorry!), Emergency Pet Fund, an alternative to classic pet insurance, can come in handy. “Additionally, it is best to discourage this behavior as it can lead to the death of the prey animals, which can cause distress and ethical concerns,” she suggested.

The Neighbor's Cat Brings Me Jalapenos From My Garden. He's So Proud, Good Kitty
🎶 little ball of fire 🎶 ( big bang reference anyone?)
Load More Replies...So if your beloved cat is bringing mice to you again and again, Popyk’s advice is to provide plenty of toys and interactive play. “Encourage your cat's hunting instincts by providing them with plenty of toys, such as feather wands and mouse toys. Engage in interactive play with your cat every day to satisfy their urge to hunt.”
Another tip to teach your cat to not bring presents is to make sure they have enough food and stimulation available for them. “Make sure your cat is well-fed and has plenty of stimulation throughout the day. Bored cats may resort to hunting and bringing prey as a form of entertainment.”
This Is Old, But I Threw Her A Stick And In Return She Brought Me A Railroad Beam. Sometimes She Finds Potatoes. She's My Best Friend
I rented a cabin in the mountains and brought my dogs. While I was chatting with one of the neighbors, my cattle dog ran off exploring and came back with a huge piece of firewood from someone's campsite. Dropped it at my feet and barked at me like, "Throw it!" RIP, Dooders. You were the best dog.
While mg husband and I were up North our new dog took off towards the forest and vanished. Our girl stood puzzled. I said to her, ‘ go get him.’ She ran off after him. I stood there on the beach mg heart racing, thinking I had made a huge mistake. Minutes passed…. Several minutes later he comes out of the forest with her behind him!!! She was a very, very special girl. I owe my life to her.
Sorry; there was a glitch and I didn't realise the first one went through.

A Friend's Cat Brings Him Mushrooms Every Day. No Mice, No Insects, Only Mushrooms
Nikola loves mushrooms. He eats them straight from the lawn. He also enjoys holding small rocks in his mouth. Never swallows them, he just likes to lick them and roll them around. Kind of a weirdo, that dog.
Awww! Just be careful! There’s lots of dangerous mushrooms out there!
Load More Replies...I would much prefer mushrooms to live rabbits, live birds or dead anything else my cat has dragged through her kitty door.
Owners should also discourage this behavior. “When your cat brings you prey, firmly but calmly tell them ‘no’ and remove the prey. Do not give your cat any attention, as this may reinforce the behavior,” Popyk said. Another important aspect is making sure your cat's living environment is safe and secure, with no access to small animals that they can hunt. “This can help reduce their urge to hunt and bring you prey.”

My last cat, Bitty, loved carrying my mom's bras and underwear thru out the house. Used ones of course. Embarrassed my mom more than once
Load More Replies...Popyk concluded by saying that if your cat's hunting behavior is excessive, it’s best to seek advice from your veterinarian. “There may be an underlying medical condition that is causing your cat to behave in this way.” It’s also important to remember that it may take some time for your cat to break this habit, but with patience and consistency, you can train them to stop bringing you prey.

I've not mentioned the bra pads Bouche kills, because even I think she's nuts. I'm so glad there's another cat doing this.
Our cat raids our sock drawers, then meows loudly and scatters them around the house while we aren't there. She also steals bras. And t shirts. And underwear. She's weird.

I Have Been Presented With A Gift
That's really useful as I always end up losing mine and having to buy new ones!
I love how she's handing it to you . But don't be fooled, you will need to return it to her with a gentle flick of it in the air so she may play with it before she gives it back to you My cat loves to chew on these I have to hide all of my hair ties so she doesn't eat them!
My cat used to steal all of my hair ties. We would see him bat them around and carry them in his mouth, We assumed they were all under the furniture, because we found a few every now and then. But when we packed up the house to move they were nowhere to be found. We never discovered the hiding place. I like to think that somewhere down the road that someone will randomly find dozens of hair ties and be totally baffled.

It’s My Puppy’s First Fall. She’s A Fan Of The Falling Leaves
One autumn, I saw a dog with a mouthful of leaves. He was snatching the leaves from the air as they were falling. Being only a small pupper, he wasn't able to hold many leaves in his mouth. He'd launch himself into the air to snatch another leaf, and as he opened his mouth to claim his prize, the other leaves would drop. He's stop, look crestfallen for a few moments, but he'd spy another leaf falling. The sadness was gone, and he happily leap to intercept. It was such a glorious sight.
It may look "funny" but believe me, it has severe health issues due to overbreeding.

My Cat Likes To Bring Me Gifts While I Work At My Desk
You're lucky. My cat paws at me until I pick her up and put her on the desk when I'm on the computer. Then she finds something to play with, picks it up, and takes off with it. She's never brought anything back.

Learning What The Retriever Part Of A Golden Retriever Means
No Thank You
Unfortunately the kind of gift my cat brings in, often alive and then set free to maximize the fun I can have, first looking for them under/behind furniture and then catching them.
This is so sweet, mine brings me bugs and once a whole bat. That resulted in him getting a rabies shot and me having to go through 3 months of treatment bc unlike my cat, I dont get a yearly rabies booster and had to have the WHOLE panel bc the bat tested positive. (I dont let them outside to wander but they have a catio. Somehow this bat got inside the screened in porch and then was caught)
Once a bat fit through the bottom of a window screen and flew around my bedroom at 4 am. Apparently they have a thin skull cap so bats can get through narrow places. This one must have not turned its sonar switch to on.

If I manage to ignore enough of the head boops from my cats in the morning and manage to stay in bed, they will both bring me toys. I can tell how long I've fallen back asleep for by how many toys are on my bed when I finally wake up. I pretty much only fall back asleep when I'm sick or depressed so I think it's their way of cheering me up or "feeding" me because I'm not getting up to have breakfast with them like normal. I absolutely do not deserve them. They are too perfect for words.
My dog takes my socks every night after I take them off and takes them to bed with her
At our old house, it was safe for my pup to go out for a pee off leash. He would bring us back a pine cone every single night. We lined them up on the porch railing until no more could fit! Sometimes he'd try and get sneaky and bring one in the house. He's my best friend in the whole world.
These are so sweet! I adopted a 15-year-old lab last year and every time we go outside, she picks something up to carry around with her; sticks, rocks, leaves, toys, etc.. Since she's not keen to drop them when I reach out I never thought of them as gifts, but I shall do so from this day forward!
My kitten knows that treats come in a pouch, so she would bring the pouches and throw them at me while I slept. Then she started bring anything in a pouch. I've woken up to instant mashed potatoes, new underwear, brown sugar, etc. all being lobbed at my head.
