That means a conversation meant for one addressee actually gets delivered to multiple addressees, even the ones who were not waiting for a message in the first place.
This is how New Yorkers become serial eavesdroppers, whether accidentally or purposefully. Mixed with a drop of guilt and secondhand embarrassment, the strangers’ conversations offer entertainment like no other and it’s obvious from the immense popularity of the Overheard NY Instagram page.

Overheard NY is the internet’s beloved Instagram project dedicated to millennial culture and its whimsical whereabouts. Over the years it’s gotten so successful that it now features three Instagram accounts including @OverheardLA, @OverheardSanFrancisco and @OverheardNewyork.
According to the project’s description, “Overheard is the insta-voice of our biggest cities; a unique media brand that satirizes millennial culture with engaging, localized content.” Its cult following can be traced to the project’s hip online store that sells anything from signature hoodies, office-friendly mugs and stickers to put on an apple you carry to work in a juice bar.
I got carded once buying WD40 in Oklahoma City. Who is drinking/snorting/huffing WD40 in Oklahoma City??? You’re ruining the hardware store for all of us.
Or you just need to follow the speed limits, no matter what vehicle you have.
It's that simple. Bikes aren't exempt. Being hit by a bike doing 40 isn't funny either.

If you're going to bike on the street make sure you know the rules. Bikes have to follow speed limits too, and know how to signal turns. Guy in my neighborhood just points where he wants to go. Crossed his arm over his chest to point to the right instead of the proper right turn arm signal and has almost been hit because people can't see what he's signaling

Cyclists DO kill pedestrians with sad frequency due to going too fast or ignoring those annoying red lights that cars seem to inexplicably stop before...
Same as cars. They're considered vehicles on the road (in the US, at least).

No, you're under arrest for weaving through traffic, bumping a pedestrian in a crosswalk, and running 3 red lights.
The reason is you could get killed when a car that can't slow down in time hits you genius. Which you could volunteer for I guess, but the problem is the driver will probably go to jail forever because YOU were irresponsible.
I've seen similar, though the officer did reply that a "speed limit isn't just a suggestion, and speeding is still speeding regardless of what kind of transport you're on."
Also to be fair, bikes are considered vehicles on the road. If she's going over the posted speed limit, she can get ticketed. I've known bicyclists who've gotten ticketed going down long hills.
I know what Cee-Oh-Two is, but what is Co-Two? ;) -- That being said, yes... if you exceed the posted speed limit while piloting your bike, you will be ticketed. (And my mother used to work with someone that was ticketed in doing just so in a 60kph zone on a bike.)
If she was above the speed limit or somehow endangering traffic she might lose her driver's license (for cars, obviously), at least here in Germany.
Here in Canada too. Any Moving Violation received while operating a bicycle affects your Motor Vehicle license.

I got told of by the imigration officer cycling through the border with Spain & Gibraltar for "going so fast I had to apply my brakes to stop"! LOL, I asked him how else I was supposed to stop!
They gave a friend of mine a speeding ticket for riding his bike doing 70 in a 55 mph zone.
"no, you share this public space with other people, and you could cause an accident you entitled b***h"
Bikers.....the same traffic laws apply to you as they do cars. Sadly, most bikers don't know or follow the laws. Yes, you can get pulled over for speeding on your bike.
My burning questions are how do you know what speed you are going on a bicycle & can you get ticketed.
some specialized road bikes have speedometers attached to the handlebars. i have never been ticketed but i am sure it happens.

The creators told us that while their home will always be Instagram, they have begun to expand to other verticals “such as text via the community app Clubhouse, where we host a biweekly comedy show and are exploring some really exciting product ventures.”

In order to understand the success of Overheard, we have to address the fact that at its heart, Overheard is all about connecting people through a shared location or experience. The creators explained that “whether that is living in NYC (@overheardnewyork), dating on Bumble (@overheardbumble), or talking about celebrities (@overheardcelebs), it’s our goal to make people laugh and provide moments of joy and self-reflection.”

We can trace back the origins of the project way back to 2015 when its founder Jesse Margolis created Overheard LA and San Francisco on a whim after listening to one such conversation in LA at a health food store. Fast forward to today and it’s run by a team of seven creators.
It's a myth perpetuated by plot devices in films and TV that it isn't possible to sell houses that have had murders, suicides, hauntings, etc. In real life people are so desperate to buy them and make the most of it that often houses that were the site of horrific crimes are torn down.
Because being in this moment is better than being in that moment.
“We are fortunate to work with great brands like Bumble, Le Labo, Netflix, etc. Currently, we see ourselves as social-first local media, and plan to expand into podcasts, local events, products, and more video content,” the representatives told us earlier.
Part of what makes Overheard NY so appealing is that it essentially celebrates common things people find relatable. Such shared experiences can be anything from finance, dating, work, food, spirituality, local knowledge, and so on.

If the therapist actually did say that they are terrible therapist. However it is possible that by asking the right questions they helped their client work out for themselves what they wanted, which turned out to be an end to their current relationship, and it the inevitability of it felt like being 'told' to do it.

And I understand the comments under those entries that say, "I'm from India - where the heck is Elletsville???" I get it. HOWEVER!!! This entire post was conversations from NEW YORK. Therefore, if you're going to read it, you should assume they are talking abut places in New York, or nearby. That would solve about 3/4 of the "I don't know where that is" issues. New York. That's where it is. Others, like Hoboken, or the characteristics of Williamsburg - they could use a little context. But still. The post says NY. /end rant
