Capitalism In A Nutshell
If everyone demanded a decent job with decent wage, the system would collapse. There aren't enough jobs like that to go round. Capitalism is literally based on exploitation. It is designed to benefit the few not the many.
Load More Replies...I had this. Made a family company a huge amount on a large project off my own initiative and my boss didn't even say thank you. Then once the bill was paid they rocked up in a Aston Martin DB9 costing the same as I had made them, it made me feel sick and I quit.
What do you expect from greedy selfish people? Sorry to hear that. I hope you found a better job where you were appreciated.
Load More Replies...I'd have to try incredibly hard to not reply with "Go f**k yourself".
The owners of a large company in LA each buy a new car every year and recently cut employee pay by 25% ! Wish I could name these selfish pigs for you, but can't give the person who told me any problems.
Sorry, Boss, Can’t Come In Today
Do what my last new hire did, drunkenly FaceTime your boss (thinking you're only taking a selfie), and yell for your girlfriend to "Grab the ketchup!" So it'll look real as you giggle like a fool. Had a heck of a time firing him with a straight face.

This just cracks me up. Did he really think his boss is as stupid as he is!

They don't care about actually taking care of employees, they only care about how they look to others.

Wednesday Work Meme
That means shut the f**k up, as long as I get my work done, don’t say s**t to me about being five minutes late.
Depends if you are salaried or paid by hour. I mean the company is paying you to arrive on time and to work when your contract says. You signed a contract and you have to follow it. 5 minutes is still 5 minutes of someone else time and you agreed to work during those 5 minutes.

Micromanaging Boss Meme
Micro management is like the single worst thing about work culture. It kills enthusiasm, work ethic, imagination and hurts profits. If you need to micromanage your employee then shut the f**k up and you do it since you’re so good at it.
I know, right? I had a boss tell me he could do it better, he could do it faster, etc. The third time he told me that, I said, "Ok. You get on that while I go to lunch." He told me not to come back, so I went home. He called me the next morning and wanted to know where I was. I said, "Well, you said you could do my job, so I figured you didn't need me." (He couldn't do my job. He didn't fire me. He NEEDED me).

How Bosses Can Earn or Lose the Respect of Their Co-Workers?
What’s the difference between a good and a bad boss? Well, usually, the way they make their employees feel. Even though employers don't have to be liked by their employees, it is important to set up staff members for success and to support them in their work. According to The Balance Careers, those who repeatedly fail to do this will lose the respect of their employees and might even become disliked as people.
Bosses should be honest with themselves about their skills and their confidence. If they’re unsure of themselves, faking it is the worst way of going about it. employees will know, and they won't be willing to look to them for guidance. And the more they try to fool them, the bigger the resentment.
However, if bosses feel like they’re in over their heads, they can win the respect of their staff by confronting the shortcomings and making them a part of the solution. Seeking help from the employees who may have knowledge, experience, or insight that the bosses themselves lack is the way to go.

Boss Always Makes The Best Jokes
i work as a cleaner. once i was cleaning the stairs in the building and a group of people wanted to walk up. It was clearly the boss and his little flock of employees behind him. The boss guy asked me if they were allowed to pass, i said "sure!" and stepped aside. Then he makes the same joke as everyone always makes (in Belgium) as they pass the cleaning woman: "watch out guys or she's gonna hit us with her mop, haha, haha" I hear that joke 100 times a day, and I just kinda smiled. (i usually say "no not with the mop but with the broomstick, more effective!") But the flock of of employees behind him ALL rolled their eyes and "laughed" with painfull faces that told this guy was the king of unfunny jokes but they didnt wanna be unpolite. I felt very bad for them :-D
You deserve a ton of upvotes just for having to put up with that.

when i just started working as a cleaner, one day I was a bit late done with work. I was still in the building, but already had my coat on when someone came running to me in panic: a guest threw up and no one wanted to clean it up. I could have said "nope I'm gone" but didnt, and found a whole circle of people around the mess, and the poor woman sick as a dog and crying of shame. I was so pissed off (not at her) I cleaned it up rapidly without blinking an eye while everyone just stared. The next week, xmas gifts were given out, and I got an envelope with a 150 euro gift voucher in it. The person who handed me the envelop told me this was the first time ever that the cleaning woman got a voucher too. Apparently I impressed everyone with cleaning up someones puke in my own time, without complaining or blinking an eye :-D
How to Avoid Being a Bad Boss and Losing Your Employees’ Trust
Employees recognize when a boss is simply using them to make themselves look better or to further their own professional goals. They will be especially resentful if they are blamed for making their boss look bad. Everybody should have a role and know that role. To put it simply, it should be about the department or the company as a whole meeting a goal rather than the leader taking them there. To regain the respect of employees, a boss has to make sure everyone’s role is defined and that they all have an opportunity to share in the team’s success.
And even the most humble managers can incorrectly assess how much managing an employee needs. If they micromanage and nitpick their ideas and work, they will never tap into their discretionary energy or the best they have to offer.
Of course, this doesn't mean that employees in training and employees who change their positions or acquire new responsibilities are OK without guidance. But, if leaders aren't guiding them to lessen their own involvement, there’s a problem. Micromanaging good and productive employees is the easiest way to demotivate them.
No Emails After Working Hours
Which is why I refuse to install my work email on any of my personal devices.
I'm with you there. When I'm off the clock, I'm OFF THE CLOCK.

Absolutely unreasonable. Keep and log of these emails, then take them with you (be sure the time stamp is clear!) when you have a chat with your HR department.
Load More Replies...Who even reads work mail after work? I don't log into my work mail account during off hours and my boss is sure as hell not getting my private mail address.
They never send you mail about raises. Raises are discussed in meeting and then an official letter is sent out, but the letter is not necessary. You would still get the raise, even if you didn't get the mail.

Flexible Scheduling
Reminds me of when I was the best Tech. at the casino.
Load More Replies...Thats exactly how this goes. Never apply for a job with flexible workhours in the job description. The only one who's supposed to be flexible is you.
I never know what day I’ll have off the following week UNTILL Thursday.
That's exactly true, and parents are weaseled into thinking it's all about finding a work/home balance. pfft. More like "We're gonna need you to neglect your kids, possibly have them stay home alone a few shifts. How old are they?" - true story.
Boss Be Like
This legit happened to me. Heavy downpour that flooded the parking lot outside my apartment,, the water had risen over all the cars and was on the porch coming through the doorway and flooding the downstairs apartments. I called my boss and told him what was going on. He said "you can't walk?" I said "it's at least 6 ft of water and I'm 5'4 and I'm not swimming to work for $7/hour."
What country are you from where they make seven dollars an hour?

Wow! That's not safe. If I had gone in as a customer and saw that, I would have been appalled that the employees were there and refused to order.
Load More Replies...Yep. Happened to me. I called work and said the flood was lapping at my front door. He said but you gotta come in. Saturday Work Meme
I got in trouble years ago because the boss said we were in a hard push on our schedule and we would be working 12 hr shifts, 6 days a week until we caught the schedule up. He went home every day at least 2 hrs before everyone else. When Saturday came around, he left right after lunch so after he was gone, I decided it was time we all left and shut the job down too. When Monday came around, the boss wanted to fire me. The home office got word of it and told him that if he was going to push the schedule he damn well better be there to push it from start to finish. I didn't get fired but I was in the doghouse for a while.
Bosses don't work at all when we're on (very well payed!) overtime. But sometimes they come by to bring something tasty for lunch. But then, I'm talking Europe.
When I complain about stuff like this I'm told "they already did their time in my chair" my response..."I've been with the company longer than them so....
Thursday Work Meme
We want a picture to represent a man chilling in a pool. What should he be drinking to relax and kick back? "Water!" Perfect, and what sort of magazine would this man be reading? Something that a man would enjoy in his alone time... "Cosmo!" Nailed it! This is how men like to relax!
My sister loved her work-at-home Fridays. All she had to do was BE HOME, i.e. cleaning, doing laundry, getting ready for the weekend lol
I know people who work from home at full time jobs and are always working. That hard part is letting yourself take a pool day.

I try not to use alcohol or tobacco or anything. (Doesn't mean I'm a health nut, though. I just dislike alcohol and tobacco and other drugs).
My boss is wonderful, she is one of the best leaders I have worked for but she recently sent me a friend request on Facebook and I have her stuck in "friend request limbo". We are pretty transparent at my job and we often share details of our personal life/families ect but at some point I feel like there has to be a boundary. My work life is my work life and my personal life is my personal life. I don't want my manager to have a reason to create a different opinion of me or question my judgment based on the fun I have outside of work time.

I just don't know how I feel about having a manager on personal social media. My work life is my work life and my personal life is my personal life.
Happy Work Anniversary Meme
my old boss sometimes do meeting on 4pm on friday with beer in the conference room
He would be speaking to himself as far as was concerned.
Load More Replies...I had a boss like that. Of course he only came in at noon and would get angry when people would be “just gone“ at 1 pm (lunch) and would put meetings at extremely inconvenient times for everyone else.
I hate it when our pre-shift meetings start with "Hey everyone, it's a nice day outside...." Like, surrrrre rub it in while we sit under fluorescent lighting with the blinds half drawn.
Work From Home Meme
Even though it doesn't matter whether you sit on the computer at home or at work
Exactly what I'm telling my boss often. We are in middle of Europe. Working for United states. Does it really matter if I sit on my a*s in office or if I sit on my a*s at home? Is there really such a big difference in those 60 extra kilometers?
Load More Replies...I sometimes work from home .. I think that it is a win-win situation. When I do not feel well / have to go somewhere in the morning instead of taking day off I can work from home since 95 percent of the work is done from the computer. Maybe in some cases where the work is not "measurable" (not my case, it is clear if I do something or not via company portal) or cannot be whole done via computer the employer is hesitant.
I had a boss tell me I could work half-days if I would do work from home. I agreed. Worst decision ever! Six hour days, and frequently making me stay late (sometimes 4-5 hours late) was what he meant by "half" days. Working from home meant I was on call all the time. He would call and message me at 1am, 5am, the weekends. He expected me to answer every time he called and he expected me to start working immediately on whatever he called about. I printed out my call logs and my estimated work times, both in the office and out of office. I was working close to sixty hours a week (40 in office & 20 at home) and I was only salaried for thirty hours. When I showed him the records, he said he didn't see a problem with that because he was letting me work from home. I quit.
Im angry because Im a boss. IM call all your employers! YOuve hurt my feelings !!!!!!! :( I feel personlly attacked

I had a boss like this. He told my mother how inconvenient it was for him that I missed work due to needing my infected impacted wisdom too pulled out. I quit the week after.
the local waffle restaurant here in Baytown insists workers show up no matter what...This includes during Hurricane Ike when 3 million people from Harris County evacuated; this includes the 2017 Hurricane Harvey disaster when it rained 44" in a day followed by 56" the next day with interstate highways flooded and houses full of muddy water up to the second floor... I didn't know waffles were more important than life itself or the safety of their workers. All of that to service the needs of a dozen customers who needed waffles. Go figure.
Fun Fact: The Waffle House is actually used as a way to gauge how bad a storm is. If The Waffle House is closed, the storm was extremely bad. If they're operating but not at full capacity, the storm was bad. If they're fully operational, the storm was just so-so. Bizarre but true.
