Anyone who’s ever experimented with their looks knows that mistakes can occur no matter what. That's why we usually turn to beauty salons where professionals do their magic. What My Sister Asked For vs. What The Salon Did vs. What My Mom Did After The Salon Disaster
Should’ve had Mom fix her hair from the get-go. As for the “hairdresser”, how hard could it be to do a braid and loose mermaid waves? Little girls playing with their friends’ hair can make nicer braids than this. Hell, when my hair was down to my waist, I used to do my own French braids, ffs, and I’m not a “professional hairdresser”. If you can’t do the job, it’s no shame to back down and have someone else do it who is more competent. In fact, it’s the professional thing to do.
mom slayed. her hairstyle is gorgeous! pic in the middle looks like what i'd do on my little sister's hair for picture day because she wanted a super elaborate hairstyle i couldn't pull off.
Didn't Think They'd Do The Arrow Too
Funny. But also at the same time, they have much more sharp herts' edges, so a better technic :D
If you go to the post, the poster isn't complaining - they think it's funny and cute.

Lady started and she's like No that's just the..... damn, that's really good 😏

This Is What Happened To My Client When She Went Into A Different Local Nail Salon Without Doing Her Research
I couldn't believe my eyes so I had to get a picture. She paid £35 for these.
OMG this is hilarious. Kinda got a spaceship vibe happening. I'm here for it
It does!! I wonder why, after the second or third nail...she didnt say something? I would have kindly thanked her for her time, paid for the two nails and left. This is beyond awful.
Load More Replies...My question is... How did she allow the manicure to go on this long and not say anything? She has another technician who does her nails, she knows how it's done and that this is NOT it. Why would someone pay money to walk out of the salon like this without asking the tech to fix it first?
Maybe she assumed they were going to file away the excess at the end or something? 🤷🏻♀️Personally I used drugstore acrylic nails for a long time but have no idea what the process is if you go into a salon and wouldn't feel qualified to question the nail tech. But yeah the end result here is a trip for sure😅
Load More Replies...They remind me of those plastic "witch" nails you would get in trick or treat bags when I was a kid.
That is the real problem here - not the shape of the nails. Speaking as a former Nail Technology Instructor - she couldn't even soak them off for a couple weeks. The base of the nail is already turning the ends of the fingers red - and good chances of an infection brewing. She must have endured pain while they were being filed. That "tech" needs to be fired immediately, and get her a*s back to school.
Load More Replies...That is just disgraceful. Far too much acrylic. The colour is gorgeous though.
The sizing is way off and that exposed glue? everywhere is gross.
Load More Replies...Picture this: you do your research, choose a salon, and book a hair or makeup appointment only to swivel around in the chair and become overwhelmed with uncertainty. At first, you blame the lighting and believe it will look way better once you step outside. But deep inside, you know that something’s not right, and can’t help but feel disappointed (or even seriously appalled) by the result.
Sounds familiar? Well, no one is immune to experiencing these blunders. Whether it’s a tragic hairstyle, a color refresh gone wrong, or a makeup look that makes you look like you're from another planet, we don’t expect beauty and hair experts to make such mistakes. Yet, here we are.
Yes, Done At A Real Salon. And Yes, She Did Cry When She Saw It
When I went to master training with a famous stylist, his first words to me were, 'if you can't cut a straight line, there's no room here for you.' Too bad he didn't teach her. And I've never saw layers like that. In my 20 year career.
Besides them not being cut straight, surely that's not how layers are supposed to look? Like curtains across the head?
Load More Replies...You should report that to your state licensing board! I'm not a licensed hair pro, and I have sense enough not to do something like that.
I can't go to salons, so I have to cut my own hair. I also do 3 layers. Mine looks positively professional compared to this!
Load More Replies...Omg I feel for her, we've all had bad cuts but this is like cousin IT!!
We must have been typing at the same time LOL!

She wanted Eva Green from Penny Dreadful and instead got Rory Kinnear.
I'm not a great makeup artist, but I could do the look on the left with face paint bought from Wal-Mart. That's not professional work.
That’s on you. The second the person began coating your face in white pancake you had the chance to say it wasn’t right.
Are These Too Thick? I Can’t Tell If I’m Just Not Used To Them Or If This Is A Normal Application. I’m Not Thrilled With Them
If you were thrilled with them, I'd say next time just hot glue some mentos on your nails
When we give our faith, hair, and face to a stranger — and spend good money to do so — the last thing we want is to step out of there crying and wishing to go back in time to erase it all. Just think about the moment when you finally get to glance at the mirror hoping to see your fabulous self but instead, you’re met with someone who feels utterly unlike you. When it comes to makeup, you immediately notice the mistakes — too much foundation here, too little color there, and what is up with all this unnecessary contouring? Makeup that isn’t applied skillfully can immediately ruin our day and put a damper on our confidence. But luckily for us, there are experts who share advice on how to quickly patch up these mistakes.
The Hairdresser Had “No Idea” How This Happened
Edward Scissor Hands. Eta: I believe he actually gave better haircuts, if I'm remembering correctly.
He gave pretty good haircuts. Everybody lined up to get a haircut from him, which they probably don't do for this hairdresser.
Load More Replies...I’m sorry but this totally looks like this was done at home and the person is blaming the hairdresser for their mistake.
Yeah why the heck would you leave without demanding the hairdresser fix it?
Load More Replies...Was this done by a hairdresser or a demon child with scissors? Either way, they just totally obliterated almost two full years of growth in an instant 🤬. Granted, it’s still long and it will grow, but that’s NOT the point. Besides, if a hairdresser did it, they don’t just start chopping huge chunks of dry hair. Back when my hair was to my waist, the hairdresser would still thoroughly wet it, if not wash it, and section it off before taking the first snip. This looks like someone grabbed all the middle hair and chopped it off like you’d cut off a ponytail. It also looks like ends of the hair in that section has been damaged, almost like they used a razor instead of scissors.
It's her lie, let her tell it the way she wants too. But, seriously the hairdresser probably does know!
I’d say…. Incompetence happened, and they need to return your money, contact the licensing board and pay you the cost of having it fixed, at twice the rate the professional charges!
What I Asked For vs. What I Got
As a stylist....I wanted to apologize on behalf of the industry. Not all salons or schools are created equally.
What Was The Makeup Artist Thinking With This Shade Match?
Send that Pic to ulta corporate. That artist should not be in their position
Strongly agree. Either they are just that terrible at matching skin tone colors or else they did it on purpose and in that profession, neither are acceptable.
Load More Replies...Wouldn't be surprised if this was a white makeup artist with no experience doing makeup of anyone with darker skin tones. Heard of this happening often with PROFESSIONAL makeup artists - even with famous movie stars of color. I've read articles where movie stars have had to bring their own makeup to the sets and INSTRUCT the white professional makeup artists how to apply it - or else do it themselves. Nuts.
I modeled VERY briefly my first year of college...and this happened with the clients hairdresser they had at the shoot. She knew NOTHING of black hair. My hair looked like a glorified poodle once she was done "styling" it. The shoot director was NOT happy and let me go in the back and re-style it myself...since I was literally the ONLY Black person on set LOL. I agree, in jobs like that....the need to know how to service ALL your customers is so important!
Load More Replies...I love how she tucked her lip in to point out the color change. GIRL I CAN SEE YOU NOSTRILES IN THE DARK.
I know!! The color mismatch is bad enough! But on top of that, the uneven coverage and completely missed areas, I just... Has this artist even ever heard of blending??
Load More Replies...These pictures are the reason I studied and keep studying to perfect my skills, to learn and understand how skin tones work and what to do if I don't have the exact shade or temperature to suit someone, but I am always terrified of doing people dirty like this. Make-up art is indeed an art, creativity is supposed to be unrestrained, beauty and taste are personal but there's a theory to makeup, and knowing how colors, shades, tones, temperatures, etc, behave is, as shown, very important.
You sound like a pro. I hope this was corrected or she didn't have to pay the standard price. It looks really bad.
Load More Replies...For my wedding I went to this high end salon to test their makeup service. Glad I went before confirming. I looked like the tin man
Did the makeup artist (and that's very questionable) think all black women or brown toned skin are all the same color? You can see around her lips and nostrils she isn't the same tone as her makeup.
This angers me so much as a makeup artist...she's literally in a shop that's filled with a million different foundation colors and she chooses THAT???
Load More Replies...Makeup artist Daniel Martin, whose clients range from Meghan Markle to Jessica Alba, told Vogue that first and foremost, people are entitled to politely request a redo if they’re unsatisfied with the results. "As artists, we have to remember that we’re providing a service and we can’t take things too personally," he said. After all, makeup is subjective, so they should listen to your wishes.
If you’re one of those people who freeze in uncomfortable situations or avoid them at all costs, think about bringing an image of your desired look as a reference. Moreover, be crystal clear with the artist about your dislikes before they begin. "Hate the way you look with mascara on your bottom lashes? Cringe at the idea of contouring? Tell the artist directly, and your honesty will only aid in the execution."
What I Asked For vs. What I Got. $400 And I Feel Like An Idiot
I would not have paid. People feel shy about speaking up when things like this happen but you shouldn't!!!! No way I would've paid
Load More Replies...This is completely ruined, not only the look but the hair itself. BUT a word of caution for the future - this grey color IS absolutely hard to achieve. And even harder to maintain (from my experience, and I am naturally dark-grey blond so the base color was kinda already this direction)
My genetics are pushing me in the direction of that grey colour quite naturally....just a shame it's not as even.
Load More Replies...Please get yourself a refund! I know its hard in the heat of the moment to stand up for yourself but its totally acceptable to go home, cool down, then call and ask for a manager.
At Aveda, we make the dark charcoal you see on the left within the layers by adding mere drops of black to clear. Then we would bleach the rest and use a 'pearlesque' silver toner on the rest. Easy. These are all over processed neutrals. I'm interested to see what she may have had when she came in. Corrections can get tricky.
Why did you pay? At the very least, they should have offered to fix their mistakes at no additional cost to you.
That's something I cannot understand, why are so many saying how much they paid? I've never known stylists to demand payment upfront, and there's no way I would pay for someone damaging my hair! As a last recourse, I see a visit to a small claims court.
Load More Replies...Seconded. Not remotely what you asked for. You have warm blonde streaks in that mess. You got a stylist who is entirely untrained. That's a disgrace. Stand your ground.

Expectations vs. Reality: Curly Hair
This happened to me in 6th grade. Never permed it again. Wanted a spiral and ended up looking like annie.
Same! I asked for a body perm, ended up with a poodle perm. One of my roommates would sing "Tomorrow" whenever I walked into the room - and that's *not* a joke, nor an exaggeration.
Load More Replies...A good hairdresser is going to tell you flat out if your hair type is going to make you look like Little Orphan Annie if you get a spiral perm. Yes, it will eventually relax, but a good stylist is usually going to tell anyone who gets a perm that you may look like a poodle for a couple of days before your perm relaxes.
The girl on the right already has thinning hair. No matter what style she perms it, the thinning hair can't be helped. No hair dresser will tell her either.
Ok I have naturally curly hair so never messed around with perms and such so I don't have an understanding of perms. That said, can't you just get the desired look with some product and a heated tool?
It depends on your hair, some hair just won't hold a heated curl for more than an hour!
Load More Replies...A fresh perm is always a tighter curl - that’s what you want! If you start off with just a wave, chances are your hair didn’t take and the curl will be gone in no time. This girl also just needs to pick the curls out so they aren’t so clumped. And if she really hates it, just was before the 48 hour wait period. Source: Me who’s scalp is numb.from all the rods shoved on it.
She wanted long waves and got an honest to god Shirley Temple instead. Look at pictures of Shirley Temple as a little girl, and you’ll see a striking similarity. Cripes.
What My Hair Looked Like - What I Asked For - And How It Turned Out
The hair looked VERY damaged before, the 'hairdresser' finished the job.
Now, had she been bleaching her hair already? That could be why the bottom part is so dry and crunchy looking. It’s just damaged from the chemicals in the dye. And could that top part be her roots, like the part that has had less bleaching done to it? Also, hair dye color can grab a bit differently than the picture on the box, depending on a lot of factors. Then again, that would only mean a slightly different shade but the same basic look, and not such a horrible outcome as this. Her hair was lovely before, so I guess sometimes it’s just better to leave well enough alone.
Yes, the hair on the left wasn't going to get the texture of the middle picture no matter what!
Load More Replies...Her hair started out so overly processed, there is no way she was going to get what she wanted. The salon should have refused service.
Eep. That is bad. You could get it more that middle pic coloring from a $3 dark ash blonde revlon kit. I do it myself. First I bleach it using a sunkist blonde $3 kit, then I go over it again with the ashblonde. Can use a comb and add some highlights later as well. Definitely ends up looking better than the right pic. Just don't get the dye on anything. I learned that the hard way when I spilled a tiny bit on my white bathroom cabinets haha.
However, sometimes we need to take matters into our own hands. "At the end of the day, it’s only makeup and it can be fixed," Martin said and offered some sound advice to prepare you for any possible damage control in the future. First, "If you’re left with too much coverage on the skin and the finish on your face is too powdery, misting will break up the finish a bit. If you don’t have a misting spray, a wet paper towel pressed onto the skin will do the trick as well."
Then, if your artist somehow managed to make you look like a mannequin, Martin suggested, "If the foundation is looking too opaque and flat, I add a bit of radiance to the complexion by using a dry facial oil that won’t break up the powder that’s already on top of the skin. A facial oil used with a foundation brush will add the skinlike texture you want without the feeling of added weight."
What I Asked For And What I Got
Not the only one that I saw end up like that. My sister asked for a haircut like the one on the left and she ended up looking like the lady on the right. I think that less experienced hair stylists don't know that they shouldn't overcut too much when the hair is wet, because once dry it gains more volume and becomes shorter. She never asked for a shorter haircut after this travesty!
Good grief, wouldn't that be one of the first things you learn when training as a stylist?

An honest stylist who lacks the skill/training for a particular hair treatment will refer you to one who does. This is a disgrace.
A similar thing happened to my brother many, many years ago. He went into a hair salon at the mall for a hair cut and after they were done, he noticed they had put a design in the back of his hair, not the one in this picture. He was p***ed because he never asked for a design to be shaved into his head. He only asked for a crew cut. Nothing more.
Wanted A Simple Manicure For My Wedding In March. Right Is What I Got. I Was Upset But Also Couldn’t Stop Laughing
Okay, the right side is a disaster but I don"t like the inconsistency of the design on the left side either.
I agree I could make mine look crappy like this at home
Load More Replies...This looks like she tried to copy the style herself then blamed it on a manicurist and posted for the attention. I mean, there's polish on her skin!
Tami, I agree I think alot of these are being falsy blamed on a salon.
Load More Replies...Was the manicurist drunk, or did they let their 6 year old do your nails?
Idk man it kinda seems like maybe some of these pictures are really just DIY's that went wrong so instead of looking stupid they blame a "professional".
When it comes to eyebrows, one of the most common fears we have is to emerge from the chair and see that they’re way too dark for our liking. "If the brow is overly done, split tissue paper to a single sheet, place it over your brow, and buff on setting powder on top of it. This will soften the depth of the brow tone," Martin suggested. "If your edges are too 'fleek,' use a Q-tip dipped in cleansing water to soften them."
Spray Tan Tears Won't Go Away
Salt + lemon juice. Scrub. All fake tan looks fake. Slap on some spf and introduce yourself to the sun.
Genetics don't always allow for that...but in that case it's better to just stay pasty.

First Pic Is What I Asked For, Other Pics Are What I Ended Up With
I tell ya what I want, what I really really want...... its not to look like second coming spice, fix this mess.
Any colorist worth their salt would at least get you close to what you wanted—-depending on how the color “grabbed” on your hair, which could lead to slightly different intensity, but still the same effect. This almost looks like an amateur attempt done at home. When it comes to hair color, especially, do NOT try to get it done cheap. You will regret it.
Bingo. The tip right pic is taken in a bathroom, not a salon.

Well, that's what you get when you go to the worst reviewed salon!
This is what some YouTubers do for views and likes. It’s a trend to go to the worst makeup artist, hairstylist, restaurant, etc.

While makeup disasters can swiftly be fixed with our own efforts, that’s not always the case with our hair. Of course, ending up with a hairdo you're unhappy with is far from an irreversible catastrophe. But if there’s a choice, we would all prefer to walk around with a haircut we’re actually satisfied with. To know how to do that, we previously reached out to Rob Jon, founder of The Brentwood Hairdresser, the most sustainable salon in Essex, UK. He explained to us in an interview the main reasons why tragic accidents occur and shared some advice on how to avoid receiving regrettable hairdos.

Needed A Pick Me Up, But I Feel Like I Got Screwed Over At The Nail Salon. These Look Whack, Right?
I literally "laughed out loud," at the nail pointing at the sky.
They look like dracula nails from every single dracula movie ever made.
"Haircut ideas are always based around what is fashionable," he told Bored Panda. "But what is fashionable doesn’t always suit your hair type, face shape, or lifestyle." Rob explained that bad decisions are often made when people try to keep up with the latest trends rather than opting for looks that actually suit them.
One of the best ways to be sure about your options is to listen to what your stylist has to say, Rob said. "We are professionals and will always act in the clients' best interest to make you look and feel as good as possible," he noted. Still, it’s best to appear in the salon already prepared. Rob suggested using Instagram or Pinterest or some kind of visual aid to try to steer your stylist in the right direction. Then, you can have a conversation with your stylist who "will come up with the perfect compromise to make your hair look on point."

My Sister’s Nails For A Wedding
Why does it look like she stuck her bird finger up a bird butt??? It is brown?
Honestly, I don't like the reference photo either. The white doesn't naturally curve halfway down the sides of your nails...it looks unnatural.
French tips have been in style for decades. And the operative word in the name is TIPS, not half painted clear and half painted white. This looks like she’s bitten her nails down past the quick then grew them back out.
I thought the same. I have bitten my nails most of my life (I know... awful nervous habit) and the pink in my nails is very short like hers.
Load More Replies...I am literally crying, tears streaming laughing at this comment... Thank you dor that 😂🤣😅👍
But despite the best intentions and efforts from both sides, mistakes happen. "Tragic haircuts are often based on a lack of communication between stylist and customer," Rob said. So a good way to ensure you emerge from the hairdresser’s chair with desired results is to talk with your stylist before and during the process.
Setting unrealistic expectations is one more reason why regrettable haircuts occur, Rob added. Or they encounter inexperienced stylists who are "unable to manage clients' expectations and deliver something that is much more suitable to their lifestyle and the style that they are after."
"To avoid a bad haircut, my advice would be to use visual aids in the salon using pictures to describe not only what you like but what you don’t like," The Brentwood Hairdresser mentioned. "Also, be willing to accept the stylists' advice as they are simply trying to manage your hair in the best way possible."
Balayage Hair
Well, I could probably do this myself with just Feria-sort of- now that I have about(a little over? idk really) 1/3 gray!
Load More Replies...I've never gotten exotic colors, and have stopped even covering my gray (free natural highlights!) but these all make me appreciate my salon so much. They do amazing colors like all of the "what I asked for" pics!
SO, part of the problem is that isn’t a balayage, everyone calls everything balayage and balayage is a technique not an end effect, and certainly not either of those are pictured
What I Wanted vs. What I Got
To be fair, the left pictured person has multitudes more hair or extensions with tenfold then volume of the right pictured person.
And that should have been a prior discussion. If I come in and I obviously don't have hair for it, it's hairdressers job to inform me what needs to be done for me to achieve this look, how long it takes, how much it costs, this also includes asking do you realize the photo you're showing has extensions, and for me to achieve this I must include extensions. And if you can't do it, you let the customer know and they can go elsewhere. Speak up! I have had same.issues when showing a photo of curls, and hairdresser saying this is perm, and curling won't leave me this result. I did the perm and I was happy to pay for that extra service because obviously I had no clue what I was looking at, I just saw a beautiful style. Same as I buy myself a car, I chose the colour and body I wanted, but I contacted professionals to do due diligence for me.
Load More Replies...OK but the braid is not even loose and the side curl is wrong and there is no curl done at the back. So it's not just the lack of extensions (which is obvious). The whole thing is done differently.
Honestly, the problem here is the fact that the left picture has thicker hair and it's longer. If the hairdresser told you about this, it's really not their fault.
That do would take a whole lot of extensions, for starters! Poor gal
My Little Sister Got Her Makeup Done For My 30th Birthday Party. She’s Really Good At Doing Her Own Makeup. However, She Wanted To Treat Herself And Went To The Salon
Eyebrows by Sharpie, foil inner highlight on one eye only, matte short on one eye and unblended on both. But nothing offends me more than that lip liner. Her mouth looks like the Predator. How do you even make someone with such beautiful bone structure into Jerri Blank from Strangers with Candy.
She's 30? Her punctuation skills are deeply disturbing. Edit: Now I see that OP is 30, but the little sister would probably at least be 15.
I'm a minimal do my own makeup girl and when I go to family or close friends weddings they sometimes offer to do my makeup. I always say 'No thank you' - am I coming off rude, or am I avoiding THESE mistakes?
This would've been perfect if she's dressing up as Teal'c from Stargate SG-1 for Halloween.
Do NOT pay for this mess - the makeup artist is obligated to make sure that they give you what they PROMISE you. If 1st is a mess have them start over if the 2nd attempt is just as bad then it is obvious that they can not provide you with the service you asked for. You are NOT obligated to pay for a promised service you did not receive.
The Usual Hairdresser Disaster. My Usual Curl Pattern vs. After Styling By The Hairdresser After A Cut
Styling? I wouldn't dignify what was done to you with that term. I hope it's fixable
A lot of deep conditioning and hoping and even then it's possible that it's just dead now, unfortunately. The worst part is that most of the damage comes from the way they wash it and not nearly as much from the heat, though the heat does solidify the damage. My hair was down to my shoulders and I literally had to cut half of it off because of a stylist who didn't know what they were doing.
Load More Replies...Wow. You got your hair cut and it turned orange and wiry and aged your chinline 30 years? Girl, you've been cursed.
Right? That has to just be a pic of what she wanted her hair to look like. Find it hard to believe her hair when from the left pic to the right pic.
Load More Replies...I can see where a shorter version of her longer cut could look really great. But she obviously went to a hairdresser who has no clue how to cut curly hair. People with wavy or curly hair should always go to a hairdresser who has been trained to cut their hair type. Wavy/curly hair cannot be cut the same way, or in the exact same styles as straight hair—-and it should only be blow dried on a cooler temperature, with a diffuser—-and VERY sparingly, as heat damages hair. There are also certain shampoos that will keep hair from drying out, cuts that will work with and enhance wave/curl patterns, as well as curl creams that will help reduce frizz and keep waves/curls soft instead of crunchy. She got none of that. Hope her curls weren’t damaged as well.
*sigh* yep. I have curly hair similar to the left. I wasn't too sure how the cut was going but thought I should wait and see how it looked once it dried and curled up. Then when she started brushing and blow drying at the end I knew that was it for me at that salon.
Right!!! I have been there way too many times. Growing up in the 80's and 90's when nobody new how to style curly hair. I have had some brutal cuts.
Load More Replies...What the hell did they do?!? Clearly the stylist had no idea on how to deal with curly hair.
I'm a curly girl too, and this is why you NEVER, EVER let a non-curly hairdresser style your hair curly. They have NO IDEA what they're doing. My girl- who has stick straight hair- cuts my hair great and colors it like a magician. That's why I go to her. And when she's done, I either leave wet and style it myself when I get home, or, though I don't really like how I look with straight hair, I suck it up and get a blow out that day. Straight and safe. I've had disasters like the pic on the right many times by women who put a literal quarter size amount of ONLY ONE product on damp hair, then, with my hair damp, whip out the diffuser and act like they know how to use it. THEY DON'T!!! Never again will end up looking like the "after" picture!
I had a stylist give me their card years ago while I was at work. I was young and dumb but knew that salons were expensive so I didn't wind up going. I wish I knew the name of the salon, now. Because even just every once in awhile is nice.
Load More Replies...Never comb dry curly hair. Wet it, or wash it, put your regular styling conditioner in, comb it, get it the way you want to look, then let it dry.

My Awful Eyebrows. Bad Microblading, Cheap Ink, Wrong Aftercare Directions. Now Look At Them
For those who don't know wtf microblading is, it's essentially a long-term (18-30 months?) temporary tattoo to 'fill in' your eyebrows. (Feel free to correct me if I haven't gotten this totally correct) And while looking this up, I discovered that it can go very, VERY wrong. Just put in 'botched microblading' into google images. We're talking huge, permanent scars. Just use an eyebrow pencil!
Load More Replies...I want to do microblading, but pics like this scare me. I think I'll keep drawing mine on.
I had it 6 month ago and I payed a lot because she had a lot of positive reviews and I love my resault. My eyesbrows looking natural thick now!
Load More Replies...Microblading is essentially very specialized tattooing. If you're going to do it, find someone well educated, certified, and with a portfolio full of proof that they can do quality work. If they can't show you what their work looks like healed on multiple people with a variety of skin tones, find someone else.
Damn. I have scar right in the middle of my eyebrow, and hair don't grow there, so I thought microblading would fix it.But pictures like this scares me.
It will...find a good person, look at a lot of their work before you do it.

If you have enough eyebrows to do waxing and dying, you don't need microblading. I don't have half of the eyebrows (from the inner side, near the nose base) and need it as otherwise i look like an alien.

Hair not lightened enough, toner mixed with too low of developer and processed too long. With 4.5 hours, they could have gotten her hair lifted high enough to do a purple wash then toned it to the specific color. This is laziness and ineptitude on the part of the colorist.

Went To Get My Bangs Cut, Came Home, And Brushed My Hair Out To Find This
You have bangs, sweetie. You have brushed layered hair from behind the bangs line forward. Just brush that hair back, and there are perfectly fine bangs underneath. They just don’t start as far back in the top of your head as you expected. That’s all. Be careful. If you cut them, you’re going to end up with half your hair in bangs.
Because you brushed too much of the sides to the front. She probably cut them from a point at the crown to your temples, and you're brushing the entire top of your head to the front.
Um. That would be caused by the fact that you brushed the hair that isn't part of the bangs forward.

I Went To A Fancy Black Salon In Atlanta Before Going To A Wedding. I Asked For Baby Bangs And The Guy Shaved My Overall Hairline Back An Inch. Honestly What The Hell
When I think of baby bangs, I think of Audrey Hepburn’s short bangs in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. But baby bangs actually look like someone cut their own bangs too short when their hair was wet, because they forgot hair kinda plumps back up and looks shorter when it’s dry—-we’ve all done it at some point. We used to call them squirrel bangs.
Load More Replies...She thought you meant "baby hairs". Cultural confusion. But even as baby hairs, they are hideous. Always bring a reference photo. She did you dirty regardless, though.
Baby bangs are bangs that are short enough to stay TF outta your eyes. I love them. Some people think it makes a woman look crazy but I think that's a plus.
She also has her head shaved on one side, so maybe the stylist thought that’s what she wanted, just more? Either way, shouldn’t have done it if they didn’t know what it was.

Bad thing is we don't know what she paid for. A lot of these are saying they paid cheap prices (120 pounds or $145 US Dollars) or that they went to schools or strip malls.

Honey, you’re going to have to go shorter to fix this mess. Go to a reputable salon—-NOT in a mall—-and get a good stylist to give you something like a short Bob, a little above chin length and layered at the ends, to get this looking like less of a mess. Oh, and NEVER go back to the hairdresser who f****d your hair up so bad.

What I Asked For vs. What I Got
Dreadful combo of lack of knowledge (should have informed customer that it won't fly on her hair) and lack of skill :(
It helps a lot to know your own hair. For example, I have extremely thin, fine hair that pulls red when colored and won't hold a curl without loads of product (which makes my hair crispy and frizzy). So I know there are certain styles and colors that will never work with my hair.

She paid $100 and sat through 1/2 hours for this "I did this at home" look by professional make up artist, that's what's wrong with it. Maybe she can do better than this but want to treat herself with a professional MUA and now she's disappointed.
Load More Replies...Oh please. Is she going to eat with her eyes closed? That is going to look way different with her eyes open, it will probably make them pop. Besides, if she doesn't like the sharp lines of the eye liner, she can use her own makeup brush, sweep it over the lines and soften them up. Her mouth looks gorgeous and her skin is flawless without imitating the scary poreless look so many women think is cool. This is actually quite well done.
If I close my eyes like this my makeup always looks weirdly crooked but my eyelids are uneven so it looks fine when my eyes are open... like they should be lol

Grew My Hair Out For 4 Years. It Was At The Healthiest It Had Been In My Entire Adult Life. This Is What I Asked For vs. What I Got
Four entire years of growth obliterated. Fried to a crisp. It s**t like that that had me, back when my hair was down to my waist, going to a local barber who trimmed women’s hair. If I told Mr Turnipseed to just trim an inch or two inches from the bottom to get rid of spoilt ends, Mt Turnipseed ONLY wet my hair down and trimmed off enough to get rid of the split ends. He never got artistic, he wasn’t egotistical, he just did the minimum needed. All for less than $5. I. Loved. Mr Turnipseed.

Where Are The Rest Of The Lash Extensions?
I Got Botched
She did map my brows, though it was very different from how I draw my brows on usually, she said they look big and thick because of the dark pencil she used to fill them and will heal smaller and lighter, so I trusted her. I do not think she used a measurement tool of any kind - she used chalk to map my brows and that was it, and she did it twice, so it seemed like she struggled a bit with getting it right and I'm not educated enough to know better, and I wanted my brows to be mapped so they'd be "correct" for the first time in my life, cuz my brows are half gone from shaving them off back in the day and I wanted that Instagram/mapped out/perfect brow look. And this is what I got. She thinks she can fix them down the road.
I’ll be honest: I didn’t notice the brows until long after I began pondering what was happening atop her head. Is this from the r/justf*ckmysh*tup subreddit?

it's not bad! At least you got some color. About correcting it, wash your hair with jhonshon's baby shampoo or any dandruff shampoo. It will fade out most of it, till you recolor.

The first picture is what I showed my hairstylist that I wanted. The second and third are my hair after being cut. The last is my hair a few months before (didn’t have one right before, it was a few inches longer).
I told her I wanted her to cut out all the yellow (she did a good job of that at least), and that I wanted shorter layers, to bring the volume up. I also told her that I wanted my front pieces to start at my jawline. It seems like she didn’t do much of what I asked, and the quality of the layers she did is pretty awful. They look chunky. I went to a nicer salon - I paid $65 for this cut plus 25% tip (I didn’t realize just how bad it was till I got home). Is it just me or is this haircut really bad? How should I go about asking the salon to fix the situation?
I’d prefer to just get a refund but I feel like they will be hesitant to do that. I don’t really want the same hair stylist to “fix” this mess. I don’t understand how she missed the mark so badly the first time.

That's what I said... I'd be a fool to let you continue to work on me as you keep messing up or going about the look I want the wrong way. I'd stop you....
Load More Replies...My hair stylist says she likes when people bring in pictures for reference, but she always tells people she can't guarantee the same look. Because hair is different person to person and can react differently to dye. She also has turned down requests that she knows won't turn out well, or that she doesn't think she had the ability to do. More of these need to do that!
My mom was a stylist for decades and she has a way with words, she’s blunt but hilarious, so she would tell clients exactly what was gonna happen if, for example, they wanted to go from dyed and permed to California blonde; end up looking like a hairy coconut bc the hair will literally MELT, then you’ll be left with scraggly frizzy short hair for months. She would offer alternative styles, so everyone was happy.

I have worked in salons where a client would ask for a service and the stylist didn't know how but the owner would make them do it anyway. Go to small salons that are self owned, get a consultation first. Then we have the freedom to be honest if we can't do a service!
I disagree. We don't know the full story. Some of these people admitted to paying cheap prices or going to cheap places. Not to mention we don't know things such as if they were willing to have their hair bleached, if they continuously moved, if they properly took care of their hair, nails, whatever afterwards. I'd say the blame goes both ways

Any salon in a Wal-Mart store should be on top of that list.
Load More Replies...These prices are INSANE! I've been cutting, dyeing, styling, etc. my own hair since I was thirteen for damn near free! Seems like a total scam to me 🤷.
Some of these seem like home attempts being passed off as bad salon job, maybe it's less embarrassing to blame someone else. Or a hair color/ nails that have grown out. Many new stylists aren't taught how to admit that they can't do what is being requested. I got my cosmetology license in a very small New England state in 1995, I was not taught how to work on African American hair. During my shadowing at a major salon chain, we were told to never refuse to do a clients hair-that a malpractice lawsuit cost less than a discrimination lawsuit. I searched for classes or any opportunity to learn how to style all hair types, and was unable to find any in the state. I chose to relinquish my license, and find a different career, rather than participate in such a system. (This was just my experience in the mid-90s in a small state, and I would hope that this practice has changed by now). There is nothing wrong with asking to see pics of a your stylists work, if you are unsure.
Ask questions before and during your appointment too! Especially if you are paying ridiculous amounts of money for their service! Be aware that bleach will do a lot of damage to your hair, and that you will need quality styling products to keep it from frizzing. Feel free to ask your stylist how to recreate the look that you leave the salon with, or if they have any recommendations about how to care for your style afterwards. If they do you dirty, shame them on any platform you can! Any decent business will want their customers to give good reviews and refer others. An experienced, quality stylist will be booked well in advance--its worth the wait! New stylists without experience that haven't built a client base, are the ones taking walk-ins and their schedule will not be full.
