A lot of french cats are named with a Chat pun. Châtaigne (chestnut), Pacha (pasha, sounds like "not cat"), Chaman (shaman), Chamallow (marshmallow), Chatouille (tickle), Kira (chat Kira/Shakira)... the sound "cha" is very common so the list is endless.

That was exactly my thought!!

@Dhukath: yes, that's true and I understand why it happens. So I'm not saying anything about the owner since I don't know what the situation is. But it IS cruel to get such a tiny dog to that size, no matter how elderly the owner is. It's that one instance where I would put the human's mental state above that of the animal but if the owner isn't elderly and or disabled, there's no excuse. But I don't know if that poor pup is maybe already on a diet. Maybe it was even bigger before...

That's a lot of words to say "My dog is obese but it's too much trouble to get her to lose some weight so we'll just let her suffer." Because dietary restrictions do not weaken an obese animal and you CAN make a dog walk with some effort. And if you don't know how to do that , there are enough people who can teach you how to do that and how to properly take care of your dog. But I guess that's just too much of an effort.

Visit a vet, maybe your dog has some problems. We are responsable for our pets and for the way they behave in relationship with food, walks. As a pet owner or better say "furry first children", pets dont know what is good for them, most of the time, and we need to step up.

My dog was born w diabetes and developed a thyroid condition. He was overweight when I got him it was so hard to help him lose weight we had to restrict his calories and make sure he got enough vitamins. It was blood tests every week. Water therapy 3xs a week. Constant med changes. He would not walk bc he was exhausted all the time from not getting enough nutrients bc of what little he was fed. He lost 3 lbs in a year. It was horrible.

May I suggest frozen food puzzles (kongs, maze bowls, diy enrichment). Watching your pet interact with enrichment is fun and it isn't that much work!!

I have one, too, and he's on my lap right now! Lol!

I have one of those too. He'll also walk in front of my feet so that I have no choice to stop walking and pet him. I wouldn't want my velcro kitty any other way :)
