My sweet, scared of everything lab mix Ruth just met her first baby bird. She snuffled that poor creature for minutes. Soooo confused. She kept snuffling it then looking back saying “wtaf is this thing??” She was super gentle but I guess at her age, a legit new smell threw her for a loop. We did put the baby into a bush. I hope it figured its wings out.

Living in the country majority of my life on farm and ranches, my Big dogs like Heidi and Lucy great danes, would be the same way suddenly stop, check things out and then lie by the little one. so funny when the field mouse would run and touch their snout....dogs would spring up and look like wth, the mouse would just look up like come on down here lets play. Never once did they harm the lil thing. Their big thing was newborn calves, horses and donkeys, oh they were there with the moms, who knew they would watch over their babies and boy did the dogs do that. They are all at the Bridge now, see you soon guys, I hope...

Our black Lab/Irish Setter found a little mouse one day, and she wanted to play with it. She bounced around in the “play” position….and in her enthusiasm, she accidentally stomped on the poor wee thing, killing it. She was so upset! She nudged it and tapped it with her paw, but it was gone. If dogs could cry, she would have been sobbing.

Owning a old house, when weather gets cold field mice come into the house. My hound snarfs them up like Snickers bars. Saves me from using glue traps or other means to get rid of the mice

Glue traps are one of the cruellest means of trapping/killing a creature there is. Imagine yourself caught in one, tearing off your skin and muscle as you fight desperately to be free, and NEVER be tempted to use one. (I realise you don't, cos of the dogs - but hope some other people may read this.)

I used to do this when my mother was not able to walk her senior dog anymore due to her mobility issues. I used to visit him several times a week just to socialize with neighbors and their dogs and so he could have fresh air before he passed. I miss those days and him.

my 23 and 21 olds are the same. they dont remember where they are, what they r doing, they stand in front of the water bowl for hours without drinking but the second they "sense" me, the purring starts. the best gift ever-knowing that you are loved my these precious souls..

I like squirrels. They are a staple at the Texas state Capitol building. Or they were before Abbott. They could be found in the afternoon sprawled out on tree branches due to the heat. We had a water bowl under the tree that we would fill.

Not if I find them first. When local hunters came upon orphaned or injured wild animals, they brought them to our house since we had a farm and caring for animals was something we knew. The wild animals were not overly-humanized and were returned back to the woods. Over the years, I learned better rehab methods preparing animals for a safe return. I loved it when a released animal brought its mate back to show us how well they were doing - and getting a free hand-out, of course.

My 16 year old always does this too. He always walks in front of me, but always looks back to make sure I am still there. I always just my sweet baby boy, I would never leave you. I always wonder if that was how he ended up with me. Walking with his prior owenrs and they just left him, because we found him roaming the street, and followed us back to the car. His name is Roamer

I had a 25lb half maine c**n cat. He loved sleeping on me. I kept waking up gasping for air. I finally convinced him to lay next to me. I miss him all the time. RIP Buzz. You are missed.

cats thinking i got a lot of work ahead training g this thing . but i had a springer who totally loved my cat who was born in my house and the only kitten mother cat had . she was about 12 and had a breast removed from her and he stand and watched when i cleaned and changed bandage , she got 5 more yrs and he died at 12 after living with 2 other cats

I saw a baby elephant do this many years ago and LMAO and the mother turned around and gave me the eye, you know the evil eye your mom and grandmom would give you. Yes ELEPHANTS can shoot the evil eye on you. I nearly crapped my pants that evil eye was so cold She was just in that evil eye like how dare you laugh at my baby, you had tantrums when you were a baby. I stood there and then bowed an apology to her she then turned and raised her trunk like ok apology accepted dont do that again.

crows and ravens are very smart. They can recognize faces and will tell their buddies and show you to them and say he is cool he feeds us or see that bugger he is mean c**p on all vehicles. So funny up here on the mountain they usually sun on my rv or in the trees. When they see me coming home they fly down and stand in front of the garage door they walk around to the car door and stand there squaking like a kid did you bring me something. Buggers love unsalted crackers and apple jacks (even the deer like apple jacks). So funny when I walk my dog i have 20 or so crows walking with us like a parade. My neighbors crack up No c**p on my car but neighbors are dive bombed all of the time. last few years I find lil pieces of metal, coins and colored glass. that is there way of paying.... And if bird c**p is on my car, they will drive the bird away usually a blue jay or a robin. bad weather they head under the rv and i have 3 kiddie pools set up for animals to dirnk from and the many birds

I've seen that too - he would put them in the old palm tree frond 'stumps' to hold them in place.. when he was done, he'd toss them out of the tree onto the sidewalk.. never did get him to put them in the trash although I'm 100% sure he'd have caught on if he's wanted to.

Folks, this occasionally DOES happen on wildlife safari in Africa - the vehicles are open and the animals are wild and free to approach anything. Fortunately, it's rare. Guides doing the driving usually have guns. Just remember, these predators do not k**l everything they come upon. They only k**l to eat (unlike humans). Lions eat about once ever five days. I think those Cheetos are an AI add-on because they're not sold in Africa, and that's not what Cheetahs would like to eat, anyway. IF they're hungry, it's you they're interested in!

I love the "not my cat" photo threads. One day when I got home I decided to look through the glass to my gated back yard walkway. Never did it before. There was a beautiful gray cat standing there. We made eye contact and it bolted. I think it hung out there because I would hear meowing. One night I left a can of tuna and a bowl of water outside of the gate. And a box for her to sleep in. Think she was pregnant. Didn't hear her after that.

Mom had a white bear i think it was one given at Christmas and my blak female cat if she had rough day or got scolded she crawl up with the bear the white bear and solid soft black cat was quire a contrast. after she and her housemate tortie died 3 weeks apart and 17 we waited a while but went to go to best buy and went into pet smart who has space for cat rescue we saw this tall black male sitting tall and this little whit female under him they were brother and sister so we were not going to decide but we took them both lost him after irma storm she lasted 3 more yrs and kidney failed but mom got to see the next 2 Russian blue and a even cuter soft tortie before mom passed at 97 so for yr i had 3 cats only time 3 we had 2 cats and dog

I'd get it a bath asap and not use tumeric. There are a lot of things that k**l fleas and can make your pet sick. Dog flea controls can k**l cats if applied topically (permethrins). Please ask your vet before you use 'home remedies'.

brought back a bad memory we had older home and wanted to move but rugs looked bad so co said they could dye a gold carped green so we let them yes a nice shade of green but our gold and white Shetland sheepdog, mom and daughter white bellied and paws all wound up green . co insurance paid for rugs but we had to give diog and 2 cats several baths and only time got it all out

Our little rescue, Yuki, is besotted with the cat next door. He will stand by the catflap, wagging his tail as soon as he spots her and I let him out. She seems to be equally besotted with him. Yes, folks, neutered/castrated/wormed/flead. No danger of kittens. They just play together happily all day in the back garden, they can't get out to the road.
