First of all, Daniele told us about his background and how he got into food carving.

“My background in art started at a young age, and I discovered my passion for carving while experimenting with different mediums. I began carving fruits and vegetables as a way to combine my love for art and food,” shared Daniele.

The artist delved deeper by explaining what inspired him to use food as a medium for his artistic expression.

“Food has always been a source of inspiration for me due to its versatility and the emotions it can evoke. Using food as a medium allows me to create temporary yet beautiful pieces that bring joy to people,” wrote Daniele.

We asked Daniele to share his approach to the process of carving intricate sculptures. He explained: “When approaching the process of carving intricate sculptures from food like avocados, I focus on understanding the texture and properties of the fruit to bring out its natural beauty. Patience, precision, and a steady hand are key in creating detailed carvings.”

Daniele also described what he experiences when carving foods:

“The feeling I experience when creating these food carvings is a mix of excitement, concentration, and satisfaction. It's a meditative process that allows me to fully immerse myself in the artwork.”

Regarding challenges that come with perishable materials, Daniele shared the difficulties he has to take into account with each piece. “Working with materials like fruits and vegetables presents challenges such as time constraints, fragility, and the need for careful handling to preserve the integrity of the artwork. I have to work quickly and efficiently to ensure the carvings remain fresh and visually appealing.”

Furthermore, Daniele revealed how his upbringing in Italy influenced the artistic style and the subjects the artist chooses to carve:

“My upbringing in Italy has greatly influenced my artistic style, as I draw inspiration from the rich cultural heritage and artistic traditions of the country. The subjects I choose to carve often reflect themes of nature, beauty, and tradition that are prominent in Italian art.”

Lastly, Daniele added what are his aspirations for the future: “In terms of reaching a global audience, my aspirations for the future of my carving artistry include showcasing my work in international exhibitions, collaborating with artists from diverse backgrounds, and using social media and online platforms to share my creations with art enthusiasts worldwide.”
