30 Pictures Showing The Diversity In Father-Child Relationships Around The Globe By This Photographer
Interview With ArtistToday, we would like to share with you another project by Gabriele Galimberti, an Italian photographer and author of many meaningful photo series. This time, he captured fathers around the world in moments spent together with their children. Inspired by his own childhood experiences, Galimberti aimed to showcase the diverse ways parents build their relationships and bonds with their kids. Galimberti shared his memories: “The year is 1986. I am eight-and-a-half years old and I’m getting ready for bed. I’m very excited for the morning to arrive. That’s because, in just a few hours, something will happen that’s been happening almost every Sunday for the last year. I’ll feel my father’s hand on my shoulder, shaking me awake as his voice says, ‘Gabri, wake up! It’s six o’clock. We’re going fishing.’”
We recommend visiting Gabriele’s website to access more information about this project and to read the stories behind each photograph. Additionally, if you missed the previous Bored Panda articles about this photographer, we invite you to check them out. The series "Toy Stories" showcased children from over 50 countries and their favorite toys, while "In Her Kitchen" featured stunning portraits of grandmothers from all over the world with their signature dishes.

But they're in the WET! *horrified cat and kitten noises*
The stereotype that African American's hate getting wet is dumb, I'm African American, coincidentally from Hawaii, and I love the water
Load More Replies...The project "Fathers" is another photo series inspired by some personal experiences of Galimberti. In the previously mentioned "In Her Kitchen," the photographer paid tribute to his grandmother and the very special relationship between them. He decided to travel across the world to explore the diversity of dishes prepared by other grandmothers and the same feeling the women put into what they do for their loved ones. While speaking about the series, Gabriele shared with us: “The one thing that really connects them all is the love they use to nourish their grandchildren. That may be the true common ingredient of all of these recipes.”

It's the bench seating, and they're private booths that are rented for a set time (or just waited for) where one can order food like a restaurant. But yeah, just a bench. 🙂
Load More Replies...I think she'd get on well with my daughter (6) and the one busy eating and ignoring it all would get on well with my son (1)!
All the little girl wants for Christmas is to eat in peace and quiet.
Giving more details regarding the series featuring parents with their children, the photographer continued the story about his fishing ritual with his own father: “For over a year, ever since my mom gave my dad a little fishing boat, this has been our Sunday routine – my father and I, alone or sometimes with friends, head out to Lake Trasimeno. It’s a day just for us, a day of waiting, of talking, and of long silences. Luckily, the bursts of good cheer over the catch of a fish aren’t too few or far between.”

I think they're in a temple and he is putting tilak on her forehead. Cute picture.
The author of the series mentioned that despite the passing time, the most vivid memories he has from his childhood that connect to his father are those when they spent time together while fishing. Galimberti points out that his father keeps the weekly tradition even now and still goes fishing almost every Sunday. He added: “As for me – maybe because I’m hardly ever home, perhaps because, when I am, I’m too lazy to get up at six in the morning – I haven’t gone with him for many years. Now it’s my brother-in-law and nephew’s turn to go fishing with him.”

In The Netherlands it is also uncommon to wear helmets. USA and Belgium for instance are dangerous cycling countries
Are the roads in the Netherlands made of marshmallow fluff? Car or no car a skull fractures just the same on concrete and blacktop. 🙄
Load More Replies...Y'all need to look up the safety of cycling conditions and accident frequency before commenting on the dangers of helmet-less biking in Florence.
The pavement is just as hard on a child's skull in Italy as it is in the US... it has nothing to do with vehicles.

So glad the dad in this photo is intelligent enough to have his child wear protective breathing equipment. Aerosol particles are not good!
And they make you feel funny in a not so funny losing braincells kind of way.
Load More Replies...With all that being said, Gabriele Galimberti decided to start his series "Fathers," documenting the relationships dads around the globe have with their precious children: “Wherever I am in the world, when I meet a father I ask him to tell me about a special moment he has spent with his children and, when I can, I photograph them together.” This way, again, we can see a range of various activities, but also still moments when nothing else has to be done because the time the parents spend with their children is a great value on its own. Don't forget to visit the photographer's website to get more insights about this special project and get familiar with the very interesting stories, adding more background to the photographs that the fathers shared with Galimberti.

From an early age, Rai's mother had warned him repeatedly that if he didn't keep his dad well fed, then Daddy would gobble him all up! The poor kid grew up to be a nervous wreck. :*-(

They look very unimpressed that baking time is being interrupted by photos.
My thought too. Probably feels weird to "act natural" for the article, and then "freeze" for the photo.
Load More Replies...They look like they were caught doing something bad. Everyone looks guilty lol
They look the least happy. The other photos give you a sense of love and joy. I don't feel love or joy in this photo.
It's just staged is all. Some of the others are captured moments, which are the ones that are the best. Some are staged and okay. This one we can really identify the feeling of being uncomfortable in because being raised in a more western/euro centric culture we can identify with the facial features/mannerisms/postures of what that is.
Load More Replies...They don't like or trust the photographer is the vibe I'm getting.
They look annoyed, I mean, if you didn't want a picture, you could have said so.
Looks more... uncomfortable, as if the photograph is supposed to be "natural" but has been completely staged and you can sense it in their faces and body posture.

Oh that looks familiar. Dad taught me how to play pool in his local when I was 9. I still go there to drink with him when I visit.
The girl standing at the corner looks like she's ready for college.
Very soon kids, you'll be frequenting this bar 🍺 just like me ! Here's to hopeless alcoholism!
This is the only one that looks like the dad is not really interested in the kids
He took his family out to play a game together. What about an all-daughter outting while Dad has a sip of his beer makes you think he's not interested? He could be at home drinking or out with his friends but, yeah, Dad is out playing a game with a load of little ladies, he's clearly uninterested.🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️

I barely trust my kids to not hurt themselves with a potato peeler and this dude is giving them guns? Fries my brain
Kinder Surprise and playing outdoors are no-gos but guns are fine. That's the American way.
Load More Replies...If these parents have weapons in their home it is far better that the children understand how to use them correctly and not risk accidental harm. I'd prefer if the little one was pointing that at the ground and not to the side, but at least fingers are out of the trigger guards.
These rifles have protection around the barrel and are meant to be held. No burning, thankfully.
Load More Replies...Don't put most of us normal Americans in that gun toting redneck category please.
Load More Replies...What an amazing piece, Thank you too all the families for shareing with all of us a piece of ourselves.
For some reason the USA ones where the ones that felt like the dads where angry or something. Except the beach one.
Almost all, lovely-looking fathers, which is beautiful but so not representing the range of diversity. Where's my dad? The only one I might relate to is number 30.
