There are some parents who handle themselves and their kids with flair and grace. They set the bar sky-high for all those around them. Always kind, courteous, patient, and generally decent human beings. Then you get the Karens. There are always the Karens... Entitled folk who believe the world revolves around them and their families. Complaining, expecting, taking, never giving. Often shocking many people they encounter along the way to the top of their pretty pedestals. We can't help but wonder how their mini-me's will turn out one day.

These parents' actions don't go unnoticed. Nor do they go ignored. People have been calling out the most entitled moms and dads they've had the displeasure of encountering. And boy, it's a lot. From one who expects her daughter's guests to cover the expenses of her 4th birthday party. And genuinely cannot understand why she, as the mom, should pay. To the person who asked someone for pizza, claiming their child was "starving." Then turned their nose up at the soup that was kindly offered.

Bored Panda has put together some of the wildest stories about parents who reek of entitlement but just refuse to smell it. Try to keep your jaw off the floor as you scroll through. And don't forget to upvote your favorites.

Major Props To The Kid Tho, Just Silent Destruction

Reddit post showing entitled parents exposed as a boy with a disability defends his reserved metro seat.

WhatTheHell431 Report

Many of us try our best to raise nice, kind, and confident kids, but not everyone manages to. Sometimes, entitlement creeps in and follows the child all the way to adulthood. They believe they deserve special treatment, favors, discounts, and handouts while giving mere mortals the side-eye from the top of their pedestal.

One day, this grown-up Karen will possibly have children of their own and become a parent. Or a Karent... It's a generational cycle that can be hard to break.

That’s A Pretty Bratty Kid If They Are Gonna Throw A Tantrum Because A Random Stranger Gets Something They Do Not

Reddit post from entitled parents showing a mother upset as her child throws a tantrum over chocolates in a store.

    shygirlturnedsassy Report

Author and The Parenting Mentor founder Susan Groner says these "Karents," or entitled parents, believe they and their families deserve special treatment, favors, or freebies because they are somehow superior to others because of their economic or social position, or “just because.”

They can be a nightmare for teachers. Or anyone around them, for that matter. “An entitled parent will never accept that their child is at fault for anything,” Groner explains. “They expect their child to be treated as the smartest, most talented child and will fight with teachers, principals, coaches, and directors.”

Had this once with a piece of birthday cake I was eating. Kid of arount two or three I didn't know nearly crawled on my lap and put his snotty face in the cake because he wanted some, meanwhile the mom was a few feet away giving me the stink-eye for not feeding her son my cake. Ma'am, get your child out of my food, please. It's not that I absolutely did not want to give this kid some of my cake, but come on.

One teacher spoke anonymously about how they love their job, but cannot handle the entitled parents that come with it. "There is one aspect of my work that I find increasingly unbearable: dealing with overbearing, entitled parents who believe their child is either a misunderstood genius or an innocent victim, even when the reality is far from it," they said.

Groner gets it. And gave Huffington Post some examples of statements you might hear from a Karent.

These include: “Why is my child only in the chorus? They deserve the lead role!”“Don’t even think about benching my child. You better make them a starter”; “My child deserves to be in the gifted class, and I will go all the way to the superintendent if you don’t put them in that class”; “Take that off my child’s record or I will sue” or even “Change my child’s grade.”

The anonymous teacher believes entitled parents are doing more harm to their kids than good. "These parents don't realise the damage they're causing," they said. "Their refusal to accept their children's imperfections, or to allow them to navigate social challenges on their own, actually stunts their development. It also strains the teacher-parent relationship to a point where I dread seeing these parents."

The educator added that they're "always walking on eggshells, trying to teach and guide these young minds while being second-guessed by their parents."

It's a sentiment echoed by psychotherapist Noel McDermott. “The entitlement is projected onto the child as a set of expectations and beliefs in perfectionist views of the child,” said the expert. “Any criticism of the child will be a criticism of the parent. The parent will insist on special treatment for their child and remove their child from opportunities to socialize outside of their tightly controlled social circle.”

The teacher adds that often, when the offspring of a Karent gets low marks, the parent refuses to accept reality. Instead, the teacher is accused of "picking on her because she's smarter than the other kids."

"This is just ridiculous!" they exclaimed. "Kids need to learn from their mistakes, understand their limitations, and develop resilience. Shielding them from failure or conflict does nothing for them in the long run."

Believing that everyone owes them something is a major sign of an entitled parent, notes Becky Stuempfig, a licensed marriage and family therapist. “Entitled parents may seem like they have ‘a chip on their shoulder’ and often be heard complaining about how they were treated unfairly,” explains the expert.

“Many times entitled parents will be seen complaining to people with authority, such as managers of stores or restaurants, teachers, principals, and coaches," she added. "They may be seen dramatically storming out of social scenes or youth sporting events due to feeling like their child is not being treated correctly.”

Something like this happened last year. A mother ranted publicly about this terrible person only spending about $200 on her gift tag on a tree at the mall. She had 3 or 4 children and was on benefits. The person had donated all the things on the list provided. She moaned bitterly how they could clearly afford things as they'd provided all that stuff, but could have bought better. The entitled mother got torn a new a*sehole by multiple people who pointed out how she, herself wasn't buying anything for her children.

There used to be a guy that would always prepurchase every new system that came down the line, he'd show up early on game day when there's a line of 100 or so people waiting to see if they're going to get one in case there are leftovers or cancellations. This guy would walk out holding his new system up for all to see, take out a bat, hammer or some other destructive item and smash it to pits while everyone in line lost their mind. I'm now wondering if people like the one in this story was the cause of his idea?

Seriously I think Dollar Tree toys are JUNK! My old church did Christmas, back to school clothes et"., It was mandatory to buy new clothes and decent toys. Any Dollar tree Toys or used clothing was refused. If we were picking a family and they has specific requests within reason ( no $100's of dollars items.) Too many cheapskate think poor people should take c**p. Jesus said give as if you were giving to him. No old clothes with buttons missing and frayed hems! No cheap hard plastic toys that break the first time a kid touches it. Either be generous or don't give. Give one decent gift not 8 pieces of crud so you can brag, saying "I bought 8 toys!" To your friends. No big ticket items unless moved to do so privately.

A one-year-old child should NOT be using a trampoline, ESPECIALLY with an adult on it at the same time. SO much potential for injury or even death for the child!

Holy c**p. North Face stuff is SUPER expensive, too. I got one of their rainjackets years ago on mega-clearance at one of their stores and it was STILL pricey XD And I'm an adult, so I can use the jacket for years. Kids are going to outgrow their stuff, bar none.

I'm confused, they knew they were adopting a child at SOME point (I know some adoptions can be short notice that you will be adopting a child) but surely you'd have been preparing to adopt for some time by that point and should have acquired SOME of the supplies? And if you can't afford to BUY these items yourself... maybe you shouldn't be adopting a human being that you will be fiscally responsible for?

I'm actually fairly broke myself at the moment (long story that involves finally escaping from a 24-year-long abus!ve relationship, and many poor choices made by me along the way that put me into debt) but I still cannot imagine having the absolute gall to post online BEGGING for other people to buy me takeout/fast food (which we all know is usually overpriced these days anyway) and also demanding a SPECIFIC DRINK as well. My mom and sister like going to our local tribal casinos on the weekend and they pick up a couple of comped to-go meals from the casino restaurants right before they leave and bring the meals home to give to me. I'm definitely not above accepting free food from my family, but I don't even fuss over WHAT they bring back for me, I can't afford to be picky (literally, lol.) If OP can't afford to feed their CHILDREN, they can try to seek out local resources such as food banks, churches, etc., not demand that someone delivers Chinese takeout to their DOORSTEP.

What's sad is that mom could buy a packet of sparkles/those plastic fake Swarovski crystal things for like 99 cents and glue them all over her 4-year-old's stuff - the kid would be super happy and would have NO idea that it's not a "designer pencil case" (of which NO 4-year-old ever "dreamed of owning".)
