@diane - It’s a vaccine against CANCER. The fact that the virus that causes cancer was a breakthrough beyond peoples’ wildest imagination. Cervical and uterine cancers are difficult to diagnose and a bear to treat, because they often aren’t found until it’s too late. ... Maybe these idiotic parents should picture their childrens’ faces when they’re dying of a cancer that their parents COULD have prevented and CHOSE not to. ..... These people are scum. Over half of the adult population of America has one of the four strains of HPV that cause cancer. We have the means to stop it in its tracks and save literally millions of lives. Cancer isn't a virus. You can't make a vaccine for it. Cancer is caused by random cellular mutation. On average your body eliminates 3-4 cancerous cells everyday. My genetics professor (who's research was in cancer) said everything causes cancer, and even if you do everything right, you can still get it.

i know that - it was hypothetical - wondering if the antivaccination people would refuse something like that if it was available the way they refuse immunisations for deadly infectios diseases

HPV causes cancer. It is a virus. This is a virus that causes cancer. A LOT of cancer. We can prevent this cancer with a vaccine. .... Is this a little complicated for you?

Reality is... as far as measles is concerned, even in unvaccinated zones, very few people actually die from it. Yet... I know of one person myself who actually died from the measles vaccination. Within 5 minutes... was still in the doctor's consulting room when it happened. So, should the doctor be prosecuted for manslaughter? Of course not, just like people who decline vaccinations shouldn't be either.

I was saying how the vaccinations sucessfully have all but eliminated some of the major infectious causes of death in children in previous times. That people shouldnt imagine that these viruses no longer exist. All children should be vaccinated wherever possible.

No the author was stating that vaccinations have all but eradicated the diseases in the modern world. Not that there is no need, but to keep people healthy and alive we need to keep them and continue to improve them.

I am sure you misunderstood the intentions of the author. Why become irate and start calling names before you figure out the intentions?

and he used on six patients, some of whom already had symptoms of autism. It was a totally bogus experiment, but unfortunately it was published in a very prestigious scientific article. Even though they retracted it later, the damage was done

Andrew Wakefield is the ex-doctor responsible. He was struck off in the UK. He's now living in Texas and STILL making the same claims and managing to convince people that his anti-vaccine stance is right, he's even made a documentary about it.

Andrew Wakefield was the one who claimed that vaccines “cause” autism. He did this because he was trying to make millions by inventing his OWN vaccines. The test subjects were children who were either autistic already, or who were already mentally disabled in some way. The study was declared garbage before the ink was dry. Wakefield no longer has a license to practice medicine on anyone, anywhere on the planet.

Clearly you was vaccinated! Hence the uncontrollable rage! Survival of the fittest, cant fight off the disease, then bye bye.

I was a healthy first world child when i contracted measles and came close to dying. just because someone assumes their child will be healthy enough to survive such a disease is selfish with regards the other children who would catch it from them and may not

No risk to vaccinations? They why haven't you gotten one for rabies? Or one for cholera? Both have a far higher mortality rate than easles. It's because you look at the risk-reward ratio and decide it's not worth taking a chance on the complications that could come from ANY vaccine. Well, I have a small pox scar on my shoulder and have been vaccinated against polio, because my parents decided it was worth the risk in both cases. As they had every right to do. Note the critical point: THEY had the right. Not some pushy fascist doctor, not some Orwellian state legislature, but the parents of the child involved. Only they have the right to choose. All medical decisions are difficult, I wish every parent luck in making them, and grieve for all that have cause to regret their choice regardless of what it is. But I also wish all tyrants who try to take that decision away from parents would go to hell sooner rather than later.
