There is still good in this world. Good dogs, I mean. And it's our job to protect them. One of the best ways to show compassion to our four-legged best friends is to adopt those in need.
About 3.3 million dogs end up in animal shelters across the United States every year, and about 670K of them are euthanized. While these numbers are heartbreaking, the latter has been steadily declining. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) says that is one of the main reasons why there is an increase in the percentage of animals adopted.
The subreddit r/BeforeNAfterAdoption is the perfect proof of rising dog adoption rates. It has over 274K members, many of which post pictures, revealing the spectacular transformations their adorable dogs have gone through. Scroll down to check these before and after photos out and fire up Bored Panda's equally touching posts about rescue pets here and here. It's incredible to see what love can do.

A Korean Family Rescued This Golden From A Breeding Facility. Went From 15 Lbs To A Healthy 60 Lbs
It's estimated that 78 million dogs are owned in the United States. That means that roughly 44% of all households in the country have pet dogs. The American Pet Products Association said that 34% of them are purchased from breeders and 23% are obtained from a dog shelter or humane society.
My Gorgeous Pupper With Her Puppies Before I Adopted Her And Now 3.5 Years Later
Problematic and aggressive behaviors, the dog growing larger than expected, or various health problems are reported to be the most common reasons why owners rehome their pets. However, as this post proves, there still are kind-hearted, responsible people who aren't afraid of these challenges their cute dogs give.

This Dog Came In Severely Matted At My Work. Got Adopted Just Like That! So I Gave Him A Trim Down For His New Adopter!!
When I worked at a groomers, we often did this for strays. We'd give them a trim and a bath, clip their nails and brush their teeth. We'd take them to the vets to check for microchips. We'd give them treats and food and then start running through the customer base of people that indicated that they were "Looking for a new member of the family" after it was obvious there was no owner. In the year I was there..we got 8 puppers adopted out this way.

Yes, love and compassion are powerful; unfortunately, they are scarce when it comes to animals.
Load More Replies...Again I'm crying my eyes out. I just don't understand how anybody can be so cruel to an animal. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everybody who has welcomed abused animals in their home. And thank you for the beautifull happy smiles of these beautiful dogs!
Agreed. Big thank yous to all involved in helping these poor creatures.

I would comment on every picture but there are too many, which is a testament to the wonderful people who adopt these animals and see their love and potential. However, it also highlights the unbelievably cruel side of the human race where compassion, ethics and morality don't exist. This is the side that should rot in hell.
RTÉ tv in Ireland showed the dark side of greyhound racing in a programme a couple of years ago where they highlighted the horrific things trainers did to their dogs as well as the evil ways they disposed of them if they didn't perform well or they came to the end of their running life which falls far short of their actual life span. Clubbing them or tying up in large sacks and throwing them into deep water to drown were just 2 things they did as well as slitting their throats or shooting them. It was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Afterward Barry's tea, a major sponsor for greyhound racing in Ireland as well as other sponsors pulled out of their agreements with the sport in absolute disgust. These greyhound owners are the lowest of the low. The dogs are nothing but a way to make money. If the don't perform they are not allowed to live. It's a great tragedy.
I hope that the people who treated these pups so horrible, will become what they deserve. And God bless the people who saved them and gave them so much care and love.
I really want to look at all the photos but I can bring myself to do so because of the before pictures
for more stories like those look up takisshelter.org - this guy is doing incredible work on his animals!
What hits me like a ton of bricks in every story, is the dogs unconditional love for their human family and always willing to trust you! If you are not willing and/or capable not to love them back, you should NEVER be allowed to have the privilege of a canine friend forlife!
The stories of sick strays are tough, but teh stories of neglected pets just ear me up inide. For 20.000 years we bred dogs to love us and be loyal to us - it's in their damn genes! And then they are being repaid by this kind of maltreatment. I need to go cuddle my pooch now, or I'll start crying.
So wonderful to see that these dogs have a better life! The people who adopted them are heroes. And I know that they are getting so much love back. My sense on this, from being around some rescues, that they really know how good they have it, and they have a deeper connection with their owners because of that.
I wish I was able to have a pup. Unfortunately my work schedule is such that it wouldn't be fair to the dog. That bums me out but I'm fortunate enough that I have friends and neighbors who have pups that have tons of love to share.
And this is the end of the internet for me today, I don't want anything to spoil fluffers happy pics
Unfortunately, if it is't cats,it's dogs being abused or neglected, laws pertaining to animal abuse needs to change, I feel they are not strong enough, we need justice for this crime !!!
Amazing stories. We owe them a lot and zillions of kudos and good karma to everyone who helped these dogs!
Love them all as well as the people who saw it in their hearts to adopt them! 😄💕
People that mistreat animals like we can see here should be shot on sight, they are f****n' bastards and a disgrace for the human race!
These kind and decent people are the reason I still have some faith left in humanity.
God bless all these people for giving the sweet Angel's a new lease on life!❤
This is another reason why I sometimes despise the human race and prefer animals.
The way some people treat animals makes me want to puke. Glad they are safe now!
I generally prefer to live with cats. But dogs totally deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. If you are unable to adopt ( don't shop) just now, consider making a regular donation to your local shelter/s. Even a few dollars, that they Know they are getting each month can help a LOT. Or maybe you could volunteer.

God Bless all of you, who care and take care of these sweet fur babies. Tears are running down my face ,just reading this. I can’t even imagine , all the ones are tossed away like garbage and not helped. My fur baby girl was also abandoned in a backyard when her “family” left her behind. She was chipped.....I inquired at animal control why they weren’t chased down and punished for what they did....they said there just aren’t enough animal control officers to keep up with people like this. So sad......please adopt and help these innocent ,helpless, little loves. Don’t buy....please adopt.
I can't do this. I can't face reality. I've stopped and scrolled down after 10 posts. This is incredibly sad.
