When TV stations were about what they claimed to be about...
MTV
History Channel
Discovery Channel
Science Channel
TLC (The Learning Channel)
AMC (American Movie Classics)
ABC Family Channel
A&E
I loved when History channel actually aired history. Now it's guys fighting each other with chainsaws and aliens.
Good quality products that are designed to last
I don't get this one. Good quality products are still everywhere, you just need find them. And they will cost you more, but it's worth it.
Physical items for music, video games, movies, etc. (this isn't actually discontinued yet but with the current trend it wouldn't surprise me if everything just moves completely to streaming in ~10 years)
Too many things are moving to digital where you don't actually own anything. All you have is a license to use the digital media. The last time I bought a physical game disc, the only thing it did was install Origin on my computer and provide a license key to download the game. My current car has built in Spotify instead of a CD player.
Maybe I'm becoming "old man ranting about change" but I'm concerned about how everything's become a monthly subscription service where the companies control what you have access to and can remove things whenever they want.
Yes, however buying digital instead of physical saves previous minerals and other resources that otherwise would've had to be mined and manufactured. It's a very small thing, but I like to think that it has at least this benefit.
The $1 menu at every fast food joint
This!!! I was hungry and stopped at McDonalds, a basic hamburger was two dollars. Didnt they make more money with the dollar menus? Back in the day I would get a double cheeseburger from McD, fries from BK and a frosty from Wendys for $3.20. I miss those days
Not discontinued, but Levi’s definitely changed how they made their jeans. They just don’t fit the same, and the materials feel very different.
The material is different now. Some styles may still be cotton or cotton and a little spandex, but a blend of polyester and cotton is more common and it doesn't feel right.
**Jello Brand pudding pops.** There is nothing else like it in the market, and anything that I have found doesn't taste the same. I just want my pudding pops back danggit.
My naturally produced serotonin
The worst part was, my f*****g body decided it would stop producing it when I needed it the most, adulthood.
It’s like WTF brain? Make me happy.
Brain: Nah, f**k off you don’t need this. Happiness dies at 18.
I'm still working on the correct formula. It is exhausting and depressing.
90's nickelodeon. Legends of the hidden temple, are you afraid of the dark, double dare, pete&Pete. Etc.
You can't do that on Television ... was my first Nickelodeon show as soon as we got cable. My Mom hated it because the chef picked his nose and put it in the burgers ... yeah, not sure why I liked the show
The optimism of the 1990s
As a teenager then, there was a very real sense of optimism that the world was getting better and the future was going to be bright for everyone. You can still see it if you watch 90s tv shows.
All my favorite tops that ever wore out. The fashion train just moves on regardless, you can never go back and just purchase the same awesome undyed linen blouse with the frog closures and Chinese collar, you have to start all over again no matter how much you hate shopping because walking around naked isn't an option.
We used to have a chain of restaurants called Souper Salad. It was just a salad bar with like 3 options of soup but it was cheap and all you could eat. I took it for granted back then, and now I miss it so much. 🥲
Altoids Sours.
Love them so much, still have some of the old tins I use to store random things.
I hate Bluetooth headphones and wish phones still had a headphone jack.
You must have an iPhone. You want the jack back, buy an Android. I got a new Google phone just last week and it has a jack for headphones at the top.
Pizza Hut lunch buffets
I'm a store manager of a Pizza Hut. We still do this at our store. Only on Wednesday, but we do it!
Taco bell being cheap af. Used to be able to get 4 burritos and a drink for 10. Now its 20+
Edit: im aware of the app being cheaper. But theres was a time when you could go and get food for 5 bucks
Edit 2: the triple layer nachos was a personal favorite especially when they were $1 before they increased them and then discontinued them. I cry about it.
The Blue Raspberry Sour Skittle. They act like it never existed but I know better
24 hour anything
Edit: While I know it is significantly less convenient than places being open, there has also been a tremendous push for places to have an online presence/online activity. So many people will complain acting like their website doesn't exist.
And even though I do miss the ability to go to McDonald's at 4am, I can understand they don't want to deal with the tweakers and homeless at the time. But I still wish it would come back
In Missouri, it was almost entirely people setting up full meth labs in our bathroom stalls. We honestly wouldn't give a caca if meth labs weren't prone to exploding randomly.
Aladdin's castle. It was an arcade in the local mall. I was heart broken when they closed that place down. So many good memories as a kid in that place.
Ecto Cooler. When it came back temporarily a few years ago, I got some but figured it would be crappy like most nostalgia-bait food and drink. It was glorious. So damn tasty.
I loved ecto cooler too. I think it was an orange/mango/ other juice died green.
Rice Krispies Treats cereal. I had it exactly once and it was magic.
Edit: You guys, I’m obsessed with the amount of people who also experienced this magic cereal and miss it. You are my people. ❤️
Vine. It was an awesome app.
better than tiktok bc you only had 6 seconds so you couldn't be having rants and giving as much misinfo. you had 6 seconds to be funny and that was IT.
Load More Replies...Vine was so much better than Tik Tok. It was honestly the superior of all social networks.
Or ... Hear me out ... Not having apps! Huh? Who remembers when all phones did was make calls?
Nabisco's butterfinger BB'S.

Im a doll collector, so I would really like: OG Monster High (The reboot is fine, but the orignals are better), Ever After High, Lalalopsy, and the old 2000's Barbies.
I collect Boyds Bears. Really miss them and visiting Boyds Bear Country in Gettysburg.
Load More Replies...International Delight Cold Stone Creamery coffee cream. They discontinued it last month and I'm still in mourning. I need my coffee to taste like vanilla ice cream.
And TV channels never seen outside of the US, etc. This is hugely US centric.
Load More Replies...I really miss the Cartoon Network of the 90's and slightly beyond. Somehow, they even managed to ruin cartoons.
Oh and by the way, please leave stuff like housing, healthcare and politics out of threads like this, it just doesn't belong here. Yes, the world is deteriorating. We know. WE ALL KNOW. I came here to read about discontinued candy and TV-shows, I don't need to stumble upon that s**t in every single thread.
Rimmel Lycra mascara! Best I've ever found and they don't make it anymore!
I miss the Hershey's gold bars that they came out with a few years ago. They were AMAZING!
Candied lemon slices from Trader Joe's - Mushroom turnovers from Trader Joe's - Knishes from a local eatery - Mushroom turnovers from Starbucks - Chicken salad sandwiches from Starbucks (they were huge) - Crab cakes from Trader Joe's - Shrimp fried rice from Trader Joe's - The sunlight on the ground every time a new building goes up - All the wildlife we killed off in in the last few decades.
Red rock deli cheese and herb flavoured rice chips - I email them but they keep saying it’s never coming back 😆
Libraries. Yes there are a few, but now they're just daycare for unattended kids, weirdos, and people who want computers and free wifi. Nobody shushes anymore. There's ads everywhere. Washrooms are filthy and usually feature someone shooting up or washing their feet. It's grim that my childhood sanctuary has become basically a greyhound bus station.
Coke Life. Delicious pop with the safer Stevia sugar substitute. It was fizzier & less syrupy than regular Coke.
I wish that Shakey's Pizza would come back as well as Godfather's Pizza. Also Round-The-Corner restaurant. You would order via a phone that was at each table. I thought that was so cool. Of course, I was also 10 years old. Movie theaters with balconies were fun too. They might still have some but I haven't seen one in over 25 years.
There was a buffet restaurant called either Kings Table or The King's Table. The location that I'm familiar with was right next to a drive-in movie theater. Which is something else that I miss.
There were a few years during the late 80s that Wendy's had a salad bar in some of their stores. This was a full salad bar with taco shells, ground beef taco meat (not just ground up burgers), all of the salad fixings, plus some of the more exotic salad fixings. You could get a small or large salad bowl and make your salad or you could do the all-you-can-eat where you could go back as many times as you want.
Carnation Breakfast Squares. NOT the Breakfast bars. They were the best!!! So sad I'll never eat one again.
Chick-fil-a spicy chicken biscuits on the breakfast menu. I was excited when I read they were coming back but it was only a limited time deal, and not at any of the local restaurants.
Milka Chocoswing Mini's, they were around until 2007 or something. Those were so DAMN GOOD. The little squares in a candy wrapper. Having a bag of those always made my day. Chocoswing still exists as a chocolate bar (I think they just call it "biscuit & milk" or something now), but Milka changed something in their recipe and now it's downright gross. >:-( Also, Pizza Crossa from Iglo/Dr. Oetker, especially the Al Tonno. They were magnificent.
Bübchen Raspberry Cream ....First the big tubs were gone, two years later the travelsized ones. Whenever I found some I would buy on bulk to have enough till I found the next store that had some lying around
Team Flakes breakfast cereal. Stood up to milk, greet flavor, and better than corn flakes in any recipe.
I wish the Yogos candy returned; they are so tasty! Another snack I miss eating were the Pringles Stix.
there's this one bowling alley in my town that used to be called Splitsville, and then it got bought and they changed the name and added an obnoxious arcade area. It's mostly exactly the same but I'm still salty
Josta. I drank an unhealthy amount of that soda and had no idea it was an energy drink.
There was this candy bar, it was nothing but gooey caramel covered in milk chocolate. I loved it as a kid and one day it was just gone. Don’t even remember the name. Second one was “one in vermillion” tea by T2, loose leaf tea I bought randomly, and only found out when I went to stock up on more it was limited edition that sold out. I am a tea lover, and none ever tasted as good.
You mean Carmellos? That was my favorite candy bar! They don't make them anymore?! Now I'm devastated.
Load More Replies...Juiceful candies hard candy with a liquid center came in Peach, cherry, orange and green apple. Starburst fruit twists it was like twizzlers only tastes better.
I would say caramilk caramel flavoured chocolate which was released when I was a kid (I even remember the TV commercial!) and then discontinued, BUT IT'S BACK!! Hell, you can get caramilk EVERYTHING now; ice cream, Easter eggs, Malteasers, Kit-Kats... it's awesome.
Just going to type it again, one of the photos used is the shoes of people killed in concentration camps during the holocaust. Really gross thing to include a picture of and shows lack of awareness... sad
What's your source? I assume you're talking about the boots, but I didn't see anything related to the Holocaust when I looked at the photo source link.
Load More Replies...Meds that work. Greedy pharmaceutical companies discontinue name brand meds that work in favor of generics that don't. I even had a discussion with a lab tech at Wyeth labs and he tried to tell me the generic contains the same ingredients as the name brand. I'm not stupid, no company is going to make a cheaper product with the exact same ingredients as the more expensive one. I tried you generic c**p and it works as good as water. I even tried upping the dose. IT. DOESN'T. WORK. Even the doctors say it doesn't work.
