There are many reasons why people love eating out. We like the fun of it, the change of place and atmosphere, the opportunity to see people and meet friends, to dress up and relax, forget about things back home or at work, treat ourselves, or simply save time. All are solid reasons just showing how much we all waited for the restaurants, eateries and cafes to open again after the worldwide lockdowns.

Having said that, we can't ignore the obvious—it’s getting pretty darn expensive to eat out. Restaurant prices have increased by 5.8% since the beginning of 2021, which is the highest 12-month increase since 1982. This is because groceries got more expensive this year, with the overall cost rising by 6.4%, which is the largest 12-month jump since 2008. The numbers are mind-blowing. Just think of it—the cost of beef has risen most, with a 20.9% jump. Overall, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that consumer price inflation for goods across the board has risen by 6.8%.

Gives me find memories of the restaurant I used to work at. Dude insisted on complimenting the chef in person after their meal. We merrily present the metalhead cook, who was sweaty and dirty and wearing a Morbid Angel or possibly more offensive band tee. 😂

considering that I always praise anyone who cooks a good meal for me , but technically "chef" in French means "boss". in French there is a particular hierarchy in a restaurant kitchen, so when eating in a deli or basic restaurant, to play safe one can say simply the "cook". but again... in the end it is always nice to thank for the good meal and the service :)

Well really who cares if Tyler is half biased out of his head! If one says my comments to the chef then let the guy have his comment! Don't trash him!..Tyler cooked it! It was a delicious dish then good on him! Don't trash his compliment because he's not a Gordon Ramsey Mr. 5 star ! You should have told Tyler to go out and meet his guests to thank them for their compliment! Might inspire him to go to chef school!

Well if you're eating at a burger joint or chain restaurant, it probably isn't a "chef" per se. But if you're at a top end fine dining establishment, it's probably got a chef. Even if it's a burger joint or chain establishment, if Tyler is making great food, he deserves the compliment.

One of the restaurants we used to go to had line cooks that the owner would have to bail out of jail from time to time because it was cheaper than having to train a new cook.

Chef is the title of the kitchen's head cook. It is also applied to the cook in charge when the head chef is not present as a courtesy title. French for manager, also translates as chief (meaning leader) So if the 19yo stoner has been left in charge of the kitchen, he is chef de cuisine for that shift. Cooking terms & titles use a lot of French because French is better😹😹😹 Professionals though make a distinction. Cooks prepare dishes they are taught to make. Chefs design the dishes (ingredients, methods, appearance) based on available supplies & tools.

I love Tyler. I don't care if he is stoned, as long as he doesn't hurt himself. Wash those hands, cover those locks (short or long) and cook on. If he is only 19 then he has found a way to support himself for life. Compliments to the chef!

It’s no secret that many people are convinced, probably more than ever, that eating cheap and healthy is impossible, and that healthy foods cost an arm and a leg.

To find out how true that is, Bored Panda spoke with Charlie Middleton, a lecturer in Nursing at the University of Dundee. Charlie has a broad area of interests including health inequalities, nutrition, and the early years of life.“One example is how certain foods are marketed as so-called 'superfoods' ( i.e. avocado) and are given higher price tags, but many very nutritious foods are actually very cheap,” she told us. “Another is the way researchers have measured the cost of food... Consider two bars of chocolate, one regular and one with less fat. If we use a price-per-calorie measurement, the lower-fat chocolate bar seems more expensive because it contains fewer calories.”
