Celebrities are usually held to high scrutiny: they have to always look good, be charming, virtuous, talented, and presentable to the cameras. Hence their public image is near flawless—looking like a regular person would certainly cause a ruckus in the tabloid pages. Which is why being always exposed to stars somewhat annoys us, and we want to see a certain chink in their armor of public image.
A person that goes by the name of Planet Hiltron on social media provides us this guilty pleasure. Planet Hiltron photoshops celebrities to look like an average person: no thousand-dollar haircut, no jewelry and designer clothes, wearing less-than-perfect makeup, making bad style choices, and so on. It's hilariously called a "makeunder" that stands as the opposite of a makeover, where things are upgraded as they're changed.

Still cute! Almost more good looking because she looks more friendly. I would totally like to be friends with This girl!
The realities of being celebrity are nerve-wracking. I don't believe that being perfect is something that they want to be, but they're required to as a part of their profession. As perfect as they may look on camera, most of them probably just want to eat a cake, lay back and forget their obligations. And it's not that being a bit overweight, or dressing casualy is automatically associated with the people with "lesser status," on the contrary, it says something about unrealistic and inhumane expectations that celebrities have to uphold. Danny Evans, the creator of the page, gives us a glimpse of an alternative reality.

If all the plastic and silicone is removed, they will look like this.

And because of this, we can see them as mere mortals, or enviously think what they would've looked like if they hadn't broke through into stardom. And as strange as it is, it's somewhat easier to imagine that they are more approachable, or could be someone that we may meet in our lives. It's a reminder that stars aren't that far away as the public image wants you think.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Rihanna
People had varying reactions in regards to this. Some see it as harmless entertainment—no celebrities were harmed in the making of these photos—while others have, perhaps accurately, noted that being fat, or out of shape, having bad makeup, and other details are unfairly associated with poor people. “...If you will recall last Sunday, I specifically said, in front of the whole congregation, that everyone participating in the bake sale MUST sign up for what to bring. And now, that is why we have exactly TWO tables with marshmallow squares and ZERO with brownies without walnuts. So you can see why this is an issue, can’t you, Susan?”

Fat and with bad hair... that's not much of an effort.
Load More Replies...Yeah and apparently we’re all stuck fashion-wise in the late 80/early 90s.
Load More Replies...I have the feeling those are pretty old (like a few years) and just resurfacing. Well, maybe it's just the concept that I've seen before.
I'm long past giving a damn about celebrities but if this was done to the typical person in the street it would be considered mean and spiteful. Hilarious?
This is pretty funny, but it should say what they would look like in the ninties
Why should "everyday people" be like village idiots from 1980 something?
This is what people look like on average. Not bone-skinny, over age 30, bad hair and ok makeup. This is it. Just go to a target and see
So "normal" in your head is morbidly obese with tacky taste in clothes? You are so full of s**t your eyes are red from the pressure.
To me, Rihanna and Angelina Jolie will be beautiful no matter what! Oprah has that dignified and kind-hearted look that makes you respect her no matter the age or look. The rest of them have grown up with money or have had operations from early on in their careers, of course, then they'll look 'beautiful' with all those funds. There's one big mistake here though, there's no way those useless *enners and *ians and Hiltons would ever look that way without all the construction work on their bodies and the tons of people making them presentable. I know many normal women and men who are more beautiful than the majority of these celebs and who are all natural. Prettiness withers with age, but the beauty inside can always grow and make a much bigger impact.
one feels bad to put down others, cause we admire them to keep our goals high ... that´s why low in score ...
None are real. That is the whole point, as stated in the intro.
