Harry Potter wouldn’t be the same without Ron Weasley. I mean, Rupert Grint. And the lovable naif Forrest Gump wouldn’t exist without Tom Hanks.
You see, most exceptionally strong characters become almost inseparable from the actors who played them. Like, Twilight and the official heartthrob of the 2000s, Robert Pattinson, will forever stay as the pale, charming vampire with a slow voice in a movie of otherwise questionable quality.
But it turns out, our all-time favorite roles could have been played by entirely different actors. So Bored Panda has compiled a list of pics of two actors, the original one versus the current one, placed side by side for an uncanny question of “what if?”
Let your imagination run free, and just think how different it would have been if Neo was Will Smith. It’s almost like history would also have to be rewritten, but who knows, maybe it’d have been for the better?

Tim Roth Turned Down The Role Of Severus Snape In "Harry Potter", Eventually Played By Alan Rickman
Roth would have been a good Snape, but Rickman was just....awesome.
Load More Replies...Alan Rickman will forever be cemented in my mind as Severus Snape-- I even hear his drawling voice when I read the books. He was brilliant in the role and brought a certain "humanity" to Snape that went beyond the books.
I agree. He really convinced me that he loved he loved Lilly.
Load More Replies...Alan Rickman will always be the true Severus Snape. May he rest in peace.
Alan rickman absolutely nailed it like no other actor could. He was the only actor that nailed the character In the book (aside from Hagrid) I was bitterly disappointed in the films but they saved it
I rode somewhere Allan Rickman was always the "one" in JK Rowlings mind for this role.
Will Smith Turned Down The Role Of Neo In "The Matrix", Eventually Played By Keanu Reeves
Nicolas Cage auditioned for this and every other film on this entire list :P
Will Smith is a great actor but would be too 'cocky' to play Neo. Keanu was perfect as there is a certain vulnerability to him.
Also, his monotone delivery actually worked for the part.
Load More Replies...Every few months, someone writes and article telling us about will smith passing up on the matrix
and every few months we are grateful that he did because it gave the world Keanu
Load More Replies...Good! I feel like the movie would have not have been good. No offense to whoever likes Will Smith.
Are you telling my The Matrix could have had an iconic early 2000s rap song in the credits!? Shameful.
The Matrix has the best music! Smith would have ruined it.
Load More Replies...Thomas Brodie-Sangster Auditioned For The Part Of Ron Weasley In "Harry Potter", Rupert Grint Was Cast
no way Rupert way too good to be rejected he is the one and only ron for the job
actually, the reason was twofold: he was too old for the character i believe, and they also wanted unknown actors, to make the harry potter main actors unique to the series. i love harry potter, but i wont hesitate to say that the child actors were just that - children. they grew into their roles, and into their skills. rupert, along with all of the other first year cast, were not really good actors. but over the years, they got better, and became the film juggernauts they are today.
Load More Replies...I think Rupert Grint was the better choice, but Thomas Brodie-Sangster is a cute kid
I love Thomas Brodie-Sangster! Ever since he was an adorable little elfin child in Love Actually. He's really good. My hubs and I love him in Queen's Gambit. Great part.
An also in Maze Runner. He played that role excellently.
Load More Replies...TBS is adorable and a great actor, but I understand why they chose Rupert.
OMG ITS THOMAS BRODIE SANGSTER THE CUTEST PERSON IN THE WORLDDDD pls- ilysmmmmm thomasssssss i cant breatheeeeeee he looks so cute my heart---- <3 (he da one on the left)
I think I recognize that face... Did he play Harry in The Queens Gambit?
There’s something about the strong characters we like that makes us feel deeply attached to them. Like, genuinely attached as we feel their pains and joys just like they were our close friends or relatives.
The topic is no stranger to academic scholars and Howard Sklar, a postdoctoral researcher in the English Philology Unit at the University of Helsinki, has his own theory. Turns out, our bond with fictional characters reflects our bond with people in the real world.
“We’d have no way of processing a character cognitively if we didn’t have experiences with people outside of the fictional world,” he explains. “The experiences with fictional characters resonate with us because of the fact that we’ve had deep experiences with people throughout our lives.”
John Travolta Turned Down The Role Of Forrest Gump, Eventually Played By Tom Hanks
I agree,I mean, I like John Travolta alot, but NO ONE could have done better than Tom Hanks, in my opinion.
Load More Replies...No insult to John intended but who thought he was a talented enough actor to play Forrest?? 😅
He deserves the insults, he's a sub-par actor still riding the coat-tails of Grease
Load More Replies...he's got too big of an ego to pay someone with developmental delay. he's a jerk.
Sean Connery Said No To Playing Gandalf In "The Lord Of The Rings", Ian Mckellen Took The Part
No he wouldn't have been, he'd have played him exactly the same as every other role and with a thick Scottish accent
Load More Replies...Gandalf could have had a Scottish accent- just like the Spaniard in Highlander, the Russian Submarine commander in The Hunt for Red October and the policeman in The Untouchables
Excellent James Bond- my favourite by far- but I don't think Sean Connery had the right kind of gravitas to play Gandalf.
Asked why he declined the role, he had said that he didn't understand the book and didnt figure it why it was so popular.
Now that would've been interesting to see! But Ian McKellen killed it, so no regrets
Sean Connery didn't take the role because he didn't want to take part in a movie he didn't understand. The same goes for The Matrix. He was offered the role of Morpheus but turned it down for the same reason.
I don't think the audience would be able to separate Sean from previous roles enough to accept him as a wizard.
Ian Mckellen Turned Down The Part Of Albus Dumbledore In "Harry Potter", Michael Gambon Was Cast
Yes image the state of students answering their OWLs or NEWTs, when the professor yells "YOUU SHAALL NOT PAASS!!"
Load More Replies...There were two different actors playing Dumbledore; Richard Harries played him in the first 2 movies then he died of cancer and Michael Gambon became the new Dumbledore.
Richard Harris was cast first. He was so good. He gave up the role after he died. Death so often has a negative effect upon a career.
'he gave up the role after he died', it's that kind of indifference I've grown to expect from the hollywood elite.
Load More Replies...I think I read a story about an interview with Ian Mckellen. Ian said he was doing the LOR at the time and could not play Dumbledore.
I can see why though. No one wants to be type cast & seeing as though they are different people but look very similar (costuming-wise) it could've put him into the "he only plays 100yr old wizards" type situations. And we got him as Magneto instead & he was my favorite part of those movies!
ian would have been perfect but I have to say Michael and Richard aced it too
And as we invest our attention, time, and empathy in the characters of a particularly engaging film or novel, we begin to respond to them as though they were real individuals. Even if we cannot truly connect with their circumstances, e.g. we have never been in a war, our ability to feel emotionally for fictional beings can transcend these details and make them unimportant. This is what powerful filmmaking and the art of storytelling do to us.
Tom Cruise Was Considered For The Part Of Iron Man, But Robert Downey, Jr Was Cast
Nahh....Iron Man would have been running everywhere instead of flying.
Robin Williams Wanted To Play Rubeus Hagrid In "Harry Potter" But Was Rejected, Robbie Coltrane Got The Part
Technically UK actors were cast as Robbie is Scottish, Luna is Irish etc
Load More Replies...even tho robin Williams is an amazing actor, Robbie Coltrane is better for the role
As much as I loved Robin Williams, I'm afraid that his love of improv would've steered him a bit away from the character? Maybe I misjudge him.. But I think Robbie Coltrane did a such a great job to bring Hagrid to life in a very truthful way to the books.
Yeah, Robin Williams was always known to be a frequent improvisor in every movie he’s ever been in.
Load More Replies...The part was written by Rowling with Coltrane in mind. He's who I imagined as Hagrid whilst reading it!
Really? I can't even imagine their accents reading it internally as a kid. Though I could hear the accent when trying to make my way through an Irvine Welsh novel. That dude is messed up.
Load More Replies...Oh but can you imagine if Robin had been Hagrid?! Like I love Robbie as Hagrid but I feel like Robin’s personality would have seriously altered the experience for the kids
I think you're absolutely right. As a 90s kid whose childhood was helped shaped by Robin Williams, it would've been a truly magical thing to have had Robin in that role. He was a truly wonderful person and it's such a damned shame the world lost him the way we did ❤️
Load More Replies...Jim Carrey Was Considered To Play Edward Scissorhands, Johnny Depp Got The Part
Jc would not have brought the wonderful whimsy that jd did to the role. Would have been just another joke.
Watch the outtakes at the end of Lemony Snickett where JC just randomly plays a T-rex, and try to maintain there'd be less whimsy. I agree JD was better casting, not for that reason tho.
Load More Replies...Someone mentions Number 23 above.. I think that's right around the time he started acting a bit different. I do love Eternal Sunshine tho
Load More Replies...I am sure Jim Carrey could play more dramatic roles but this one seemed made for Johnny Depp. Come back to the spotlight Johnny, we miss you 😭
He actually has played a couple “straight”, i.e. non-comedic, dramatic roles. Check out “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” where he nicely pulls of a romantic lead (but it is NOT a rom-com). He got nominations for both a BAFTA and a Golden Globe for it!
Load More Replies...I think Depp had just the right amount of pathos. Not sure if Jim Carrey would have been taking it on a more comic route. I do like Jim Carrey in most of the work I have seen.
Jim's acting style wouldn't have been appropriate for Edward scissorhands. Johnny Depp is always the appropriate roll for Tim Burton films.
It would have been a diaster if Jim Carey played Scissorhands
Russell Crowe Turned Down The Role Of Aragorn In "The Lord Of The Rings", Eventually Played By Viggo Mortensen
Mortensen is one of the most incredible actors working today. Aragorn was created for Mortensen. I cannot see anyone else in that role.
Honestly, as a fan of the books, I could have seen many different people in that role. Viggo did great, no problem with him at all, but someone a bit taller would have made sense, too 😉
Load More Replies...yeah, nah. viggo is perfect for the role of the handsome...the brave...the amazing... ARAGORN
Definitely a better casting with Viggo! Speaking of which I wonder whether bored panda Aragorn II Elessar has seen this one? 🙂
Bette Midler Turned Down The Part Of Sister Mary Clarence In "Sister Act", Eventually Played By Whoopi Goldberg
hey whoopis Goldberg is in another movie called corrina corrina it is an amazing movie
Makes you wonder how different sister act and Hocus Pocus would've been had they switched. Although I do think it would be fun if they made a crossover movie. Witches vs Nuns. Kathy Najimy in both roles.
No... Whoopi's energy made that film great- and the way she played off the other characters, I don't think Bette Middler(fabulous though she is) would have brought the same to the dynamic.
What the hell would the film have been if they had gone with Bette Midler. I'm confused
What do you mean? Same film. A singer of questionable morals needs to hide and is hidden among a bunch of nuns. And then the story follows from there. Same story. What is there to be confused about?
Load More Replies...Eddie Redmayne Auditioned For The Part Of Star-Lord In "Guardians Of The Galaxy", But Chris Pratt Was Cast
In my very unprofessional opinion, Chris Pratt was the right choice.
Eddie Redmayne does not strike me as being able to pull off a flawed galactic superhero...
Very talented actor, I really like him as a person too. But this role is definitely not for him. Chris is just too adorable as Starlord
Al Pacino Turned Down The Part Of Han Solo In "Star Wars", Eventually Played By Harrison Ford
ha, that would have been SO funny, as Al Pacino is really short, imagine him instead of Harrison !!
I'm from NJ and can't see that casting either, especially as Leia's love interest !
Load More Replies...Matthew Mcconaughey Auditioned For The Role Of Jack Dawson In "Titanic", Eventually Played By Leonardo Dicaprio
No, because Jack was a carefree. dreamer.. An older actor would have been too unbelievable.
Load More Replies...Thank God. I cant abide him. Smug and lifeless in almost everything he does.
So true. If he’s in a movie I won’t see it. Can’t stand him!
Load More Replies...I'm not a fan of Titanic, I was disappointed when I watched it the first time... But Leo and Kate are so talented, love them both
I went to see it because I had read about how much research Cameron had done in recreating the ship and I love history. Also, I’m a big Kate Winslet fan.
Load More Replies...There’s a boyish charm Leonardo has & brings to the screen that Matthew doesn’t
Christina Applegate Was Considered For The Role Of Elle Woods In "Legally Blonde", Eventually Played By Reese Witherspoon
I think so too. She was pretty good on Friends .
Load More Replies...Applegate turned down the role because she had already played a ditsy blonde on Married With Children and did not want to end up becoming typecast
no one could do better than Reese. STILL, ONE OF MY FAV STOP AND WATCHES ALONGSIDE THE DEVLE WEARS PRADA
Ryan Gosling Was Considered For The Role Of Doctor Strange, Eventually Played By Benedict Cumberbatch
Surprised that no one has spelled Benderfish Flundersmatch's name wrong yet.
Yeah, I just can't see arrogance from Gosling like I can from Cumberbatch.
Load More Replies...Paul Giamatt Declined The Role Of Michael Scott In "The Office", Steve Carell Got The Part
Huzzah, one of my favourite actors is Steve Carell
Load More Replies...good that steve was cast. The show would not be the same without steve.
I honestly feel like the Office wouldn't be the same without Steve Carrel
Emily Blunt Was The First Choice To Play Black Widow, But Scarlett Johansson Got The Part
I've read she's been offered Marvel roles multiple times, but couldn't take them up coz of date clashes. Scarlett Johansson is awesome, but Emily Blunt would have made an excellent Black Widow too..
I think she would have been a lot better than SJ who seems to just play the same character in different clothes in everything she does
Load More Replies...She would be really cool in a Marvel movie. Scarlett is perfect where she is, but I would've loved to see Emily as Captain Marvel instead of Brie Larson, hope I'm not offending anyone
In my opinion I'm glad Scarlett got the role, She made black widow what black widow is today.
its my mortal enemy...natasha romanoff...its actually romanov and her name is natalie pls read war and peace
Hugh Grant Was Considered For The Part Of Gilderoy Lockhart In "Harry Potter", But Kenneth Branagh Was Cast
Oh yes, I know this story. Hugh Grant actually started preparing for the role as well. But then he took a role in "Two Weeks' Notice" and had to drop out. Really all he would have had to do is play an exaggerated version of himself if he had been cast.
He could've reunited with... gosh, I forgot her name! Sense and Sensibility, professor Trelawney. She was actually married to Branagh but they split maybe due to his affair with Bellatrix LeStrange. I am not good with names. It could be because I am a potato.
Load More Replies...It must've been fun to play Lockhart. Acting like an idiot over-dramatically is fun.
I think he Grant would have been funnier, both are good in the role.
Gwyneth Paltrow Turned Down The Role Of Rose Dewitt Bukater In "Titanic", Kate Winslet Got The Part
Can you imagine people jumping of the Titanic shouting "Rose, turn off your scented candles.." sorry couldn't resist :-p
Load More Replies...Can you imagine being in the alternate universe where it's her and Matthew McCaughney? 😨
Emilia Clarke Turned Down The Role Of Anastasia Steele In "Fifty Shades Of Grey", Eventually Played By Dakota Johnson
Yeah poor girl didn't want to be associated with sex roles for everything.
Still cant see why these were so popular! They arent well written, the story is bleh, & the characters are even more bleh. I read 2 out of 3 & never finished the 3rd because i realized that after already reading 800pgs about these people, i still didnt care what happened to any of them...
That's what i thought before i read them but its not even good Mommy Porn!! Lol!! The wording reminded me of the old VC Andrews books i used to read when i younger. And at least those had good revenge plots to keep it interesting! Lolol!
Load More Replies...Good for her being smart enough to pass. I can't believe something that degrades women and sexuality so much became so popular.
Liam Aiken Was Offered The Role Of Harry Potter, But Daniel Radcliffe Got The Part
I'm not sure what boy actor I would have cast, but I sure didn't imagine Daniel Radcliffe when I read the HP series before the movies came out!
Radcliffe is an amazing actor, so it was lucky that they looked for more than looks.
Really? The lead role in a film that celebrates Britishness was offered to an American actor?!
Rowling only wanted characters to be played by British actors/actresses, which I think was a good choice. Of course, roles of those with other nationalities like Fleur or Krum were played by a French and Bulgarian actors. But an american as Harry? I'm sorry but no. I think it was better to stick to British actors, personally. Though I will admit Adam Driver could make a perfect snape, but that's a very popular opinion lol.
Joanne Rowling Was Asked To Play Lily Potter In "Harry Potter", But She Declined, Geraldine Somerville Got The Part
Yeah and she really didnt need to act. In that movie Lilly just smiles.
Load More Replies...she declined because she was afraid to not act "well enough" for the role.. also. a thing that I really do not like about the harry potter cast is that the parents are way too old... considering the timeline they should be in their late 20ies but the cast was 10 or 20 years older... yes.. i am a HP fanatic haha
Ugh I know, by the last book Harry's only a couple years younger than James's ghost, and Danielle Radcliffe might have actually been older. He could have played James. He definitely SHOULD have played James in the OotP flashback. (Don't even get me started on how old the other Marauder actors are, I was looking forward to PoA but casting men in their 40s was the first thing they did wrong with it.)
Load More Replies...maybe not, but she ended playing the role of a noname witch in Nocturn Alley, so she probably was not going for iconic
Load More Replies...Why ??? That would have been such an iconic and meaningful role, playing such an important character in her own story !
It's usually advisable to give acting jobs to actors, rather than to writers.
Reportedly, she did not feel she was "cut out to be an actress" and feared that "she'd mess up somehow." The role eventually went to Geraldine Somerville, who played Lily in all eight of the Harry Potter films. - https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/568112/jk-rowling-offered-lily-potter-role-in-harry-potter-movies#:~:text=Reportedly%2C%20she%20did%20not%20feel,of%20the%20Harry%20Potter%20films.
Hugh Jackman Turned Down The Role Of James Bond, Eventually Played By Daniel Craig
I agree, and I've never even thought of him for the part !!
Load More Replies...Which one? (Joke about the "Putin clones" conspiracy)
Load More Replies...NOOOOO! I love Daniel Craig but I would love to see Hugh Jackman as 007!
craig has been my favorite bond. more of a manly man, than a 'cheerrio, jolly good' man.
Would have been interesting. Great actor but Daniel Craig isnt rly the classical handsome I associate with James Bond.
I wanted to puke, he is tiny I'm and NOT SEXY at all, Hugh on the other hand, I wanna eat him raw....
Load More Replies...Interesting. A lot of these other ones are actors turning down roles in new franchises or one-off movies that are risky (remember, all an actor makes a decision on is the script and maybe storyboard, not the finished product like we do). But everyone knows James Bond, and Hugh could've expected 1-2 sequals. So he turned down something like $20-30m here.
I would bet they would have had him throwing knives in a scene..... Just for the satisfaction the crowd would feel
Henry Cavill Was The First Pick To Play Edward Cullen In "Twilight", Robert Pattinson Was Cast For The Role
I don't like Robert Pattison in that role. Henry is gorgeous. Not sure if he would have been perfect, but better than Robert
Stephenie Meyer wanted Gerard Way to play Edward Cullen... then he said no... then he wrote "Vampire Money" after she asked him to write a song for the movie XD. I love Gerard.
Maybe the movies would have been better if Henry played the role...just a thought.
David Thewlis Was Considered For The Role Of Quirinus Quirrell In "Harry Potter", Eventually Played By Ian Hart
He got to be werewolf instead of having Voldemort on the back of his head.
Load More Replies...Smart move, instead of being killed off in the first movie now he can be killed off in the eighth!
Britney Spears Auditioned For The Part Of Allie In "The Notebook", Eventually Played By Rachel Mcadams
In spite of her attempts, Britney Spears can not be categorised as "actress".
BRITTNEY isn't an actress by a long shot! The movie would have gone down the toilet if she had starred in it. McAdams was BRILLIANT!
Rachael McAdams was amazing!!! I absolutely loved this movie!!! I watch it every time it comes on!
Choice of cast aside, I don't understand the hype of "The Notebook". It's a movie about a toxic relationship!
It’s really not tho y’all just love to use the word
Load More Replies...Brittany Spears is not an actress. She would have made the movie bomb. The right decision was made to NOT cast her.
Jennifer Lawrence Auditioned For The Role Of Bella Swan In "Twilight", But Kristen Stewart Was Cast Instead
Just couple of hours ago I read an article about how she's one of the best actress nowadays. It was in relation to her new role as Princess Diana. It made me do that confused meme face.
Load More Replies...Kristen Stewart is the worst actress I've ever seen. At first, I wanted to give her a chance, because I've only seen her in Twilight and no one should be judged by their performance in Twilight. But since then I've seen Snow White and the Huntsman too, and I will forever avoid any movie she's cast in because she managed to ruin a fairly okay story with her non-expressions and s**t acting.
twilight series and snow white were trash movies with trash writing and janky directing. Go watch her indy stuff
Load More Replies...Actors who haven't had their breakthroughs are all pretty desperate. Olivia Colman did commercials for a car-whatever. Now she has an Oscar. Because she deserves it, but there are probably plenty of people who are amazing and will never be seen on the big screen.
Load More Replies...There was one movie that I have seen with Kristen Stewart in it that I liked. She was frozen for the majority of the movie.
honestly fr. but that could also be because bella was written as a trash character.
Load More Replies...But would we have Katness Everdeen? I'd be cool with Lawrence doing both, I thought Stewart was pretty bland in Twilight.
Her whole acting boils down to ‘let me whip out my resting bitch face’.
Emma Watson Turned Down The Part Of Mia In "La La Land", Emma Stone Was Cast
Good! Emma Stone is a better singer of the two. Watson was very heavily autotuned in Beauty and the Beast...
Emma Stone should not be outside without massive sunscreen. No diss. It's just that she's a redhead with really white skin. She should be careful. The More You Know
Smart! La La Land was Hollywood's blow job to itself. Just another reprisal of singing in the rain which was hollywood's hand job to itself.
Jack Nicholson Passed On The Role Of Michael Corleone In "The Godfather", Eventually Played By Al Pacino
Nope. the vibe would have been SUPER different and the movie wouldn't be the same without Al Pacino.
Not to mention that Al Pacino feels more natural for the role due to his Italian descent.
Load More Replies...The whole point of this role was to show a good guy go bad and Jack Nicholson looks like a bad boy already.
I love Jack, but nah. Pacino was the right choice. Thanks for passing on it, Jack.
Liam Hemsworth Auditioned For The Part Of Thor, But Chris Hemsworth Was Cast
They look the same, I doubt it would make any difference if they picked Liam.. XD
Load More Replies...Fun fact: Suraj Sharma (the actor in The Life of Pi)'s brother auditioned for the role. Suraj came along for support, and had no particular desire to act. But the auditioners loved him anyway and cast him. Now Suraj has an acting career and his brother doesn't. So Kjorn's right: bringing your sibling to a casting audition seems to be a very bad idea. :P
Okay, but in my mind, Liam Hemsworth can only be Gale from THG. And I hate Gale. And I love Thor. And, today, I thank god for letting Liam Hemsworth fail this audition.
Marilyn Monroe Was Considered For The Part Of Holly Golightly In " Breakfast At Tiffany's", Eventually Played By Audrey Hepburn
If you havent read the book: Marilyn would have been perfect, as Holly is described as a curvy blonde.
Audrey Hepburn was so good in the role she actually 'made' Holly Golightly but if you read the book, Holly looks a lot more like Marilyn. Also, Truman Capote actually wanted MM to play Holly.
the difference: audrey can act well. Marilyn is meh really as an actress
Audrey is perfect I actually went as Audrey for my 3rd Halloween by choice!!!
Can we just appreciate for a moment how FUCKIGN CREEPY Audrey looks in this shot?!
John Krasinski Auditioned For The Part Of Captain America, But Chris Evans Was Cast
John Krasinski is great but can't play a macho man (even a sensitive one like the Captain) - just watch Jack Ryan.
I love the story, he told a few funny impressions from the audition at The Graham Norton Show
Saoirse Ronan Auditioned For The Part Of Luna Lovegood In "Harry Potter", But Evanna Lynch Was Cast
I always thought it was Saoirse for a while at first. Then I read how the role helped Evanna come into her own skin, so I'm glad she got the part.
even tho Saoirse is an amazing actor who I admire evanna was still better for the role.
Johnny Depp Was Considered For The Role Of Patrick Bateman In "American Psycho", Eventually Played By Christian Bale
Bale nailed that role, hand's down, especially after reading the book -- the neuroses are spot on. I would be VERY curious to see Depp handle that though, because lord knows dude has range.
These are the ones that make this list so interesting. Agree Bale nailed it. Agree JD could have handled it and can picture how this might have turned out.
Load More Replies...I adore both JD & CB, but Bale IS Patrick Bateman. Depp has range, but not as deep as Bale.
Love Depp BUT Bale was THE ONE for this part! I've seen Depp pull off the clean cut appearance before, as well as be crazy & he does a great job with it BUT i cant see him so neurotic & chiseled about everything like Bateman is supposed to be. Everything in Bateman's like is extremely routine & mechanic almost. Even if Depp pulled it off, i dont think it wouldve packed the same punch
Anna Popplewell Auditioned For The Part Of Hermione Granger In "Harry Potter", Eventually Played By Emma Watson
Nah, Emma Watson nailed it not to mention she's at least as intelligent as Hermione is supposed to be
Emma Stone Was Considered For The Part Of Meg In "Little Women", But Emma Watson Got The Role
But only one is actually an Emma. Stone's real name is Emily. ;-)
Load More Replies...Actually, Emma Stone had it, but had to drop out thanks to scheduling conflicts and Watson got the part
Nicolas Cage Was Offered The Role Of Aragorn In "The Lord Of The Rings", Eventually Played By Viggo Mortensen
Presumably they were thinking that they were going to drop a lot of money on the production and they could improve their potential box-office by casting a well-known actor. Like Cage, like Connery. Of course it's a far better movie with those cast, and box office didn't prove to be a problem.
Load More Replies...Absolutely love Cage, but this is an even worse plan than the other consideration [Russell Crowe]... Neither has any hint of the dignity of silently maintaining their royal lineage through the ages.
I can’t stop laughing. After reading this I immediately phoned my boyfriend and told him so we could laugh together.
Michelle Pfeiffer Was Considered For The Role Of Clarice Starling In "The Silence Of The Lambs", Eventually Played By Jodie Foster
She was also considered for the part of Eva Peron in Evita, even made a demo tape of some of the songs. Cast Madonna instead. Neither was a good choice (yes I have a copy of the demo tape)
She's good but too sexy in not the right way for Silence, especially the way clarice is described in the books
Christopher Walken Auditioned For The Role Of Han Solo In "Star Wars", But Harrison Ford Got The Part
Nicolas Cage Was Considered For The Role Of Bender In "The Breakfast Club", Eventually Played By Judd Nelson
I think that *may* have worked, but I think Judd has a bit of a tougher attitude. 80's Nick Cage was a bit too goofy. If you haven't seen Peggy Sue Got Married, you'd understand what I mean
I have and I do, I was thinking the same, NIc back then was not the Nic now, Judd was perfect
Load More Replies...Just read his resume... https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000555/
Load More Replies...that was a perfect cast. that movie could have been blah with different people. i think it still holds up. it's in my top 5
Eddie Murphy Was Considered For The Part Of Grinch In "How The Grinch Stole Christmas", But Jim Carrey Was Cast
Very different comedic styles but Murphy would have been funny too. Carry is more entertaining for kids though
I've seen too much of Jim Carrey, he was ALWAYS on tv in Canada before he made it big in the States.
Carey is more of a physical comedian than Murphy, so I think he was the better choice.
Cameron Diaz Was Considered For The Role Of Mia Thermopolis In "The Princess Diaries", But Anne Hathaway Got The Part
Cameron was already way too old for that role when the movie was made. Like WAY TOO OLD!!
I grew up on these movies and i cant see it with anybody else as Mia
Matt Leblanc Turned Down The Role Of Phil Dunphy In "Modern Family", Eventually Played By Ty Burrell
As much as i love Modern Family & Phil Dumphee, my horror movie history has forever ruined him! He will always & forever be Asshole Steve from Dawn of the Dead first & foremost with Phil coming in a close 2nd. Ps: if you like Ty Burrell & want to see him play the exactly opposite of Phil, watch this movie!! He's absolutely fantastic in it!!
Both are my all time favourites!!! It would definitely have been weird to watch Joey married and a grandfather
Tilda Swinton Was Offered The Part Of Sybill Patricia Trelawney In "Harry Potter", Eventually Played By Emma Thompson
Tilda would have been awesome to play Sybill..Not sure if there is any role Tilda wouldn't be able to portray!
Yes, also in Benjamin Button, Constantine, Doctor Strange and many more
Load More Replies...Trelawney would have been very different if played by Tilda Swinton.
Tilda Swinton would certainly have brought something to the role but not sure if it would've been in the way that JKR wanted
Ok now I kinda want to see that one. Love both actresses and both are super talented but I kinda want to see Tilda's take on Trewlaney
Henry Cavill Was Considered For The Role Of Cedric Diggory In "Harry Potter", But The Part Went To Robert Pattinson
He is, unfortunately for Henry, the better actor.
Load More Replies...Jason Momoa Auditioned For The Role Of Drax In "Guardians Of The Galaxy", Eventually Played By Dave Bautista
Great career decisions for both. We would not have had the iconic Aquaman otherwise.
Reese Witherspoon Auditioned To Play Cher Horowitz In "Clueless", Eventually Played By Alicia Silverstone
You were up bright and early this morning I guess. Thanks for making me laugh. Again
Load More Replies...Thankfully, the only good movie Alicia was in! I watched that movie so many times, I knew the lines by memory. I can't picture Reese.
It would have been like Elle Woods in High School and people would have associated Legally Blonde as a sequel.
Saoirse Ronan Auditioned For The Part Of Rey In "Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker", Eventually Played By Daisy Ridley
Angelina Jolie Dropped Out From Playing Dr. Ryan Stone In "Gravity", Sandra Bullock Was Cast
Jake Gyllenhaal Was Considered For The Part Of Peter Parker In "Spider-Man", Eventually Played By Tobey Maguire
To be fair...with the exception of Gyllenhaal doing Donnie Darko, they were pretty interchangeable around that time..
Glenn Howerton Auditioned For The Role Of Star-Lord In "Guardians Of The Galaxy", Eventually Played By Chris Pratt
As with so many on this list Chris Pratt is perfectly cast as Peter Quill/Star Lord
i just see Dennis. i would keep expecting him to talk about his sex tapes and call Gamora a bird
Gwen Stefani Auditioned For The Role Of Jane Smith In "Mr. & Mrs. Smith", But Angelina Jolie Got The Part
Brad himself said he was not happy in the relationship; he felt stuck so I think he would have eventually left Jennifer at some point.
Load More Replies...Interesting. But I don't associate Gwen as an actor. She kinda reminds me of Katy Perry.
Eric Mccormack Auditioned For The Role Of Ross Geller In "Friends", Eventually Played By David Schwimmer
well, in this case, I believe: Schwimmer was a perfect for the role and in some cases, the series and movies named here may not have become iconic if the roles were casted by other actors
Yet we will never know if that's even true. Don't get me wrong, I think you're right, but ... maybe not?

Naomi Ellen Watts Was Considered For The Role Of Narcissa Malfoy In "Harry Potter", Eventually Played By Helen Mccrory
That's what I was gonna say. Since when has she been named with her middle name?
Load More Replies...IIrc, Helen McRory was in fact going to be Bellatrix, but she was pregnant at the time of filming so the role went to Helena Bonham-Carter instead. Honestly though? I can't imagine anyone else but Helena as Bellatrix. Helena has always played the role of insanity incredibly well xD and Helen was great as Narcissa, and the two of them are among my favourite characters.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt Was Considered For The Part Of Ant-Man, But Paul Rudd Was Cast
I don't think he could've matched Rudd's comedic touch. That scene when Ant Man meets Captain America is hilarious. And the "I ruined the moment, didn't I" scene. Can't see Gordon in either.
You’ve never seen Third Rock from the Sun, then. He was really good in that.
Load More Replies...Joaquin Phoenix Was Considered For The Part Of Doctor Strange, Eventually Played By Benedict Cumberbatch
I think Joaquin would've brought a different intensity to the role- not better or worse just different
Ryan Gosling Was The First Choice For The Part Of Joker In "Suicide Squad", But Jared Leto Was Cast
Jared Leto was my least favourite Joker. Ever. There are 6yr olds who drew comic characters that played better Jokers.
Jared Leto as Joker is a role that will always be devisive- he took the role to such an extreme place, which, had the movie's tone been much darker than it was (it was almost comedic in places) would've been great- it's almost as though Leto and the directors/script writers were on completely different levels
I feel like he dodged a bullet like no disrespect toward Leto, It's just that his Joker was... meh.
I can't see Ryan playing a character like Joker. I think Jared Leto did an amazing job
Denzel Washington Passed Up The Role Of Detective David Mills In "Se7en", Eventually Played By Brad Pitt
I agree Brad Pitt for this role. I love Denzel though, The Bone Collector was fantastic
i love denzel, but no. this was brad's part. plus, denzel just did 'the little things', which reminded my of seven...but not as good.
Rosamund Pike Turned Down The Role Of Rita Skeeter In "Harry Potter", Eventually Played By Miranda Richardson
although i love Rosamund Pike, Miranda Richardson for me will forever be the queen of hearts saying "get off with his head!"
Saoirse Ronan Was Considered For The Part Of Scarlet Witch, Eventually Played By Elizabeth Olsen
True must be hard, I've seen her name 3 times where she didn't get the role.
Load More Replies...I was just about to say that. Tough luck for her. I never even heard of her. I want to check her out and see if she's any good.
Anne Hathaway Dropped Out From Playing Tiffany In "The Silver Linings Playbook", Jennifer Lawrence Was Cast Instead
One of my all-time favourite films, and Jennifer was FAB in it, can't imagine anyone else doing as well as she did. Just superb!
Seriously. Very few actors can steal a scene from DeNiro. She killed it.
Load More Replies...Not a fan of that film. Maybe Anne Hathaway would have been more interesting to me. I think she's a pleasure to watch.
Olivia Wilde Passed On The Role Of Gamora In "Guardians Of The Galaxy", Eventually Played By Zoe Saldana
Given Gamora is a full-on-action role, it'd need much more than skin and bones
I LIKE GAMORA AS SHE IS NO ONE CAN CHANGE THAT SHE IS BAD@$$ THANK YOU ZOE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
