One of my neighbours has a cat who watched me getting out of the car with my walking stick and, even though it hurt, I walked towards them and sat on a wall to go "pspsps" and they came trotting over and said "prrp?" and headbutted my hand and it was the best thing that happened to me that day, and the memory still makes me happy a month later.

I know! I am so proud of this owner, as I once had a chunky cat that I didn't realise was growing round before I had to reverse the course of his diet and turn him into the gorgeous orange boy that he became. It was hard work and I learned to take care of my subsequent pets so much better by this.

Pepper is the ONLY cat I ever inherited that wasn't a stray I found outside. Someone had left a box of kittens at my Vet's office, So he checked them over and treated them for anything that they needed, Dr.T started calling cat owners that might be willing to take one in. I only had one older cat at the time so I went to take a look. They were a litter of 5, all cute and fluffy and sleeping together in a little pile. Then there was Pepper, she looked like left over parts that were combined into one cat. Black, Orange and White with Huge, Ears, Eyes and Feet, while the other cats were sleeping together, she had climbed the cage door and was howling up a storm. Guess which one I brought home? Pepper never grew into her eyes, ears and feet, hated any other cat except for Jazzy and me and Mom were the only ones allowed to pet her. She ruled this house until she passed at 15 years old from Cancer.

I'm a pet sitter and for first-time pet sits with a client, if possible, I go to the pet owner's home to meet the cats or dogs (or both) before the pet sit starts, so the animals are familiar with me. My clients (the humans) are not usually home when I get to the pet sit, so they can't treasure the pet in the same way I can that I am friendly and supposed to be there. Dogs can be protective of their home and reactive to strangers. Seems kind of odd to not have met the cat you are pet sitting for before pet sitting (though some cats are shy and hide from strangers) and some pet sits are last minute because of their regular pet sitter cancelling or emergency trips.

My cat used to do this to me. Like it was somehow comforting to know I was there? Or maybe I was just a bean warmer? But quite often when she was sleeping on the arm of my chair she would reach one paw down to rest on my forearm or sometimes on my thigh and leave it there while she slept.

One of the funniest things I've seen: Neighbor's cat stalks, oh so slowly, across our property in back toward 2 wild turkeys. Gets within 25 yards or so, realizes the size of them, stalks, oh so slowly back home.
Cats are very particular about their litter boxes. Ensure you have one more box than the number of cats in your home. Boxes should be kept clean by scooping out waste on a daily basis and changing the litter frequently.
A dirty litter box or one that is in a noisy or difficult-to-reach location may cause a cat not to use it at all. As a general rule, place the litter boxes in quiet, easily reachable places.

Most cats seem to alter their shedding to your clothes. When you’re wearing dark colors, they only release their light colored fur. When you’re wearing light colors, they only release their dark colored fur. Of course, a cat who is only one color doesn’t have this option.

Their fur is sooooo soft, and has a kind of grassy, herbal fragrance. I have had a lot of cats with soft round bellies who let me lay my head on them. I would lay there gently, holding my head so I didn’t put pressure on them. They would purr softly and curl around my head. Those are very sweet moments.

Cats don't possess the necessary taste-buds to recognize sweet as a flavour. It just happens to be the one taste sensing gland they do not possess. So any cat going after sweet is going after whatever fat, protein or other flavour mixed into it.

My former dog ince found half a coconut around christmas. She was soo proud so I let her keep it, since it looked like a fresh birdfood thing a crow had snared and lost. Omg, the amount of energy she got from ut was insane!! And I just googled it before I hit post, its just as good fot them as for us, expept when we didnt get coconut, but still have to drain the energy of theirs 😅

Every cat meme article I read brings me one step closer to becoming that crazy old cat lady covered in incomprehensible amounts of cats and fur. The only thing holding me back is my rabbit. Specifically, her hatred of other living creatures that aren't me.
