I don't know what screwed up human took a look at this adorable creature and thought it'd be a great idea to cut it up and eat it. Eating meat is one thing if this has been your culture and tradition, but I will never understand people who eat lamb / veal / other intentionally cruel meats

Oranges don't exactly roll up to us begging us to eat them. In fact, they have a nice, thick peel to discourage being eaten. Picking a carrot or a radish probably doesn't feel good to the plant. Onions, turnips, and the like are roots. Picking them kills the entire plant. The difference? We can see blood. We can hear the screaming of the lambs. We easily anthropomorphize animals and can sympathize with their suffering and death. We don't anthropomorphize plants as we do animals. We can't hear the orange tree scream when we pull the fruit off. We can't see the turnip scrabbling to stay safely in the dirt. Plants are also living things. How do we know they can't feel?

There's a deer that always leaves her babies in my parents' backyard, usually in the same spot by the corner of the house. My dad is more often than not outside working in the garden, so we presume mama deer trusts him to watch the baby until she comes back. He now makes sure to only use loud things (like the leaf blower) when the fawn is not there so they don't get scared.

Fun fact: raccoons will choose a tree and use it as a "latrine tree" where they will do most of their defecating. Raccoon poop can contain a parasite that, if ingested by humans, can be absolutely devastating (Baylisascaris procyonis). Most people are not apt to ingest bits of raccoon poop, but toddlers are if they play outside and put things in their mouths. It's very rare, but it can also be very, very bad. If you have a toddler and notice poops around a particular tree where your child plays a lot, look up the protocol for getting rid of it.

My ex and I had a very fat raccoon that would show up every day at eight pm. We named him Vladimir Tootin'. He left us for about a week, and SHE brought her three babies: Sofa, Couch, and Loveseat. They met us every night at eight pm for dinner scraps for nearly a year. Played in the lap, curled around legs, nose booped, etc... Bet the new tenants were confused.

(I used to put my trash cans in the garage for aesthetic reasons for the neighbors etc.) these little bastards tore shingles off and ripped a hole in the roof...rain ruined my garage stereo.. rusted tools, cost THOUSANDS of dollars and I RINSE my recyclables.. Now i just leave the trash cans outside, and admire my new garage roof and hope it lasts until I die. Because I'm NOT gonna pay anyone to roof anything when I'm 70 bitches! Considering that peregrines were so endangered in some parts of the US about 50 years ago, it is kind of amazing how often you can see them now if you know what to look for. In some places, there are more of them now than there used to be, because they've been so well-established in cities. But I am curious about where they might be considered pests? Squirrels are still always asking you if you want to interact... consider them chattering at you when you walk outside.. And the choice words I have for the brainless who get too close to, and tbh downright abuse, wild animals, would end up being nothing but an endless row of the censors’ asterisks. I haven't seen any mention of that. I don't think anyone knows for sure. From what I remember reading, there's only been one in captivity, she stayed solid. Any without spots in the wild likely don't survive

I got a show mouse off a some kid in Perth who bred her own show winners, the demeanour and smarts compared to the regular ones was really interesting, Paprika (her name) was one of the coolest mice I ever had.

please don't put rabbits on their back. it causes them to go into panic mode and shut down. that's why they go still. it's referred to as trancing, and it's incredibly stressful for them

Not as closely related as youd think. Two diffetent families.. Ferrets are weasles, (mustelidae). Skunks are in the mephitidae family. They're more closely related to racoons than weasels.

I had a mouse who was absolutely possessive of her wheel. She would grab food out of the dish and then sit in the wheel and eat. If another mouse came over to the wheel, she would run to it, jump on, and start running so the cross bars would hit the other mouse in the nose and keep him off. And of course, she would curl up on it and sleep. I ended up having to buy two wheels - one for her and one for the rest of the mice.
