She deserves a wake up call. He deserves so much better and a loving, supportive partner. I wonder about the romantic things he’s done but she didn’t notice, because her measure of affectionate display and effort are skewed towards her priorities. That's a cultural thing. In Europe much much MUCH more simple rings are preferred.... if any. Plus: our weddings are not as big as in the US for example. There are no bridesmaids for instance. Nor groomsmen. Only two witnesses, if even that.

Yeah my advice for guys would be that if she says "no" leave it at that because she's either a) not interested (this is most of the time) or b) playing childish games that no one has time for.

I think that both men and women have learned that from romantic comedies. Don't get me wrong, I like me a nice rom-com, but this person wants exactly the stalkerish behaviour that was somehow romanticised by them.

True and thanks for pointing it out. I had a problem with such a guy when no didn't mean no to him, because you know he was a good catch and I am just a woman who doesn't know what she wants. I am really uncomfortable when he is around, sometimes watches me, we work in the same company (thank God for we in different dept.) and even though he stopped contacting me, he still talks about me with his co-workers and he hopes I will change my mind if he waits a little longer to ask me out again. It's a year since he asked me for the first time.

As a guy: I litterally never thought that. Most boys/men are very simple: No means No, Yes means Yes, Pizza means Pizza and Ice cream means Ice cream. So don't go barking mad when you say you want pizza but in reality you like to have ice cream but you get pizza because that's what you ordered.

That messaging is PART of the reason they may act that way...some are just entitled and do not like getting their way. I agree with your premise...but it comes dangerously close to blaming women for their own harassment...when it should be blamed on the ones doing the harassing.

What you say is true. But I think the cure to this problem is to stop generalising. Just because one "girl" likes or hates this or that, it doesn't make the whole female part of the world population like or hate the same things. Same is true for males. So, whenever we approach a person, please, let's view them as a single individual, as a self, not as merely a fraction of a group of people with some imaginary characteristics we sort into some fictive boxes in our heads.
