Same! I would always have these dreams where there was a secret room hidden in the closet, and I would be the only to know about it. Sometimes in my dreams I would just randomly decide that I needed a secret door, and I would pick a random spot on the way and just pull open a little door. It was so weird....

I'm currently 3+ years into renovating a 1920 bungalow that had been converted to apartments in the early 40's. Would you believe there were 2 Montgomery Ward sale papers from 1946 laying on a shelf in one apartment that was one of the 2 most rented? I still can't believe no one ever threw them away. And the couple that lived there longer than anyone else were fairly neat people, they definitely weren't hoarders or pack rats.

Checked the comments, OP followed the wires and they lead to another room unplugged, the DVR was missing, apparently. He also found microphones. There's no happy ending as he didn't comment on whether he contacted the police or not. OP is an asshole.

There's A Room In The Attic Where I Just Moved. Pretty Sure Nothing Good Happened Here
There are no neighbors near enough to hear someone yelling if they were in here...
Hard to tell, but the door is only 4 feet tall and 1.5 feet across (lamp for scale). It's got a light built into it and is painted light green. Metal grate on inside and outside of the door. Ceiling at its highest is a little over 4 feet. I'm hunched down to take these pics.
This is a creepy room upstairs at the far end of the attic at the house I just moved into. This house is overall about 60 years old, and apparently, the previous owner was the head of a church (don't know if that means priest or what)

We moved into a house in Minnesota and my son kept finding small sized footprints on his bedroom closet mirror. At first, I couldn't figure out how they were getting there because they occasionally happened when he wasn't home. The mirror was a floor to ceiling closet mirror. Many times these baby sized footprints would appear near the top of the mirror and look just like a small child had walked up the mirror and onto the ceiling. Finally, about a month into all of this. When I finally started to lose it myself, our youngest child confessed that she and her friend would go into his room and put these footprints going up the wall. I guess it's a great prank. But my son, who is now almost 30 years old, still has trouble sleeping at night

Looks like it was put on there with glow in the dark paint. When I was a kid in the mid-60s I decided it would be a real cool thing to paint some cute little flowers and write my name etc. with some glow in the dark paint and when my mom found out I got my butt tanned

Was behind the wall, looking for a place to route a wire, when I saw light and thought I was in luck. Hey, a ready-drilled hole! Unfortunately, it wasn't behind the closet, where I'd needed it to be. It allows a prime view of the shower stall.

How many people buy a house without looking in every part? I mean, it seems that there are plenty, but I just don't get it. Hell, I looked in every place of every open house we went to... drove my partner and estate agent nuts. Man Finds A Secret Room In His New House That Contains Tons Of Ammunition, Guns, And Grenades
Just moved into my first house about 2 weeks ago. Just starting to get settled in. Bought the house for a very cheap price. The previous owner was very old and passed away. The house is very old, but for the price, it was perfect for a first house.
When I first toured the house the basement was way worse than it is now. The previous owner hadn't moved anything out yet. The basement was pretty full with junk. They cleaned most of the stuff in the basement out, so I had to clear some stuff out. But here it is now with some stuff that I don't really need and will probably get rid of soon.
While sorting things out in the basement I noticed this sheet of plywood that oddly fit in. I have had the house for 2 weeks and never noticed it. I decided that I didn't want to keep it down there so I tried to move it. It is pinched pretty hard against the stairs so it was pretty hard to get out.
When I finally got it to move I noticed there was something behind. At this point is when I got my phone and started taking pictures

(The information in the comment has been edited according to the passive-aggressive comments on this comment) I assume it to not be a ww2 bunker, one of the first pictures there is what appears to be a 30 STANAG magazine, a more modern style magazine. But the last picture does show a bucket of M1 Garand clips, which are for the standard issue American rifle from 1936 to 1958, so during ww2 (as people in the replies pointed out, loudly, I have made many mistakes in this comment. I apologize for any confusion, I was only tried to help and I can tell by the replies, I have failed that task)

The blue paint on the spoon of the grenade means that it is a dummy. The bottom should be drilled out of the body. Cannot see the rest but I'd imagine there may be some collector pieces worth quite a bit in there.

Children drawings is the only way young children know how to communicate and they don’t really have the biggest imagination differing from common conception so if a child draws something like this it means it most likely happened. So something happened to this child or whoever and could only get it out by drawing so looking farther into this makes it more terrifying. And the fact that there are doll photos cut off from something is me out of there in 1 milisecond

I rented this cool house in the hills of a Los Angeles suburb and there is a lot of DIY stonework on the property - little walls, an archway, steps and this dungeon built into the hill right behind the house. The history I've gathered is that a stonemason lived here for decades until he passed away from old age in the 90s, when the current owner purchased the property and began renting it. The then-owner used the opportunity to rebuild the stairs with a tornado shelter underneath. However, once the shelter was built, he became concerned that if the house collapsed in a storm, he might be trapped in the shelter. As some have suggested, the hatch truly is an emergency exit. The eye bolts make the hatch too strong to break open from outside, but can be easily removed to escape from within if the house crumples while you are in the shelter. Having dealt with a similar bottle once, it contained prepared shellac. It looks and smells like some sort of dark alcohol, but the denaturing agents in industrial alcohol (as well as the shellac, probably) make it poisonous to consume

Found A Small Room Under Our House Containing This Letter And Some Candle
I discovered the room in the house we are renting in. The room is approx 1.5m tall and 4x3 wide, the floor is just dirt but there was a blanket in the corner surrounded by candles, paper and then this letter. We were walking around the house and I was peeling vine off the walls (we are new at the house and it's relatively overgrown) and pulled down a section of vine and saw this hole in the side of the house and went investigating!

So I have a very disturbing true story so my dad had a friend that died at camp because he most likely drowned they had a club WITH THE SAME SYMBOL LOGO as the one seen above they also had a newly discovered ground bedded room with a tarp/blanket with candles surrounding it and they have been living in this said house for more than 13 years and have never seen this room and they just happened to find it the day after he died.

Does anybody ever get a house inspected before they buy them? My Dad was a housing inspector for a while so I knew that it's something that should be done before we bought our current house. I wouldn't buy a place without knowing a much as possible about it, and a 'cool old hidden room' is not the kind of thing you want to discover after you bought it.

Switzerland has these all over the place... Air raid and nuclear blast shelters. I think there are at least 20 of them in my little village and Lucern even has a famous one that can host up to 20000 people in case of emergency. Most small ones are converted into basements but some just abandoned like the one in the pictures.

I found a bunch of baby teeth individually wrapped in tissue paper, in a keepsake tin, figured the previous occupants--an elderly couple who had moved into an assisted living place--had simply forgotten them. I guessed that they had kept their kids'/grandkids' teeth as part of the "tooth fairy" thing. Got their new address from the landlord and mailed the box to them. Proud of my good deed, I mentioned it to Holly, my neighbor. "That's funny," she said. "They didn't have children."
