Bannatyne went into detail about the essence of what Halloween is all about: “At its core, Halloween was a warning.
“Two thousand years ago, people in northwestern Europe gathered together, brought their animals to shelter, and prepared for the deathly, dangerous season of cold and dark.
“Today, in parts of the country [the United States] that have a cold season, Halloween’s the last outdoor hurrah, a big blast of fun, like opening the fireplugs one last time before we go back inside and wait for spring.”

Halloween seems to be a far bigger deal in America. In England the most you usually see is cheapy cheap posters and stickers in windows, maybe some fake spider webs and such. Most houses have no decorations at all.

I have glass block around my tub, and one year I put a skeleton torso wall cling behind it so it looked like it was peeking over the tub. It was spooky as heck through the wavy glass. Went to the bathroom that night, sat down on the commode, and scared the poo out of myself!

My father came home from work with a manikin arm. We left it out for a while to "season" in the Wisconsin weather. The following Halloween he planted it in the front yard. It was greenish in color and scared half the neighborhood kids away. The other half were scared by the speaker he hid under the leaves with the heart beat sound effect on a loop. The jumping leaves were freaky.

Halloween has been a favorite of mine since I was 10 years old. And now it still is. But since 2000 my family just couldn't afford to have Halloween ever again, because of our new Pastor in our Church. He told our Church Members , that Halloween was of the Devil, and that we should never have anything to do with it. But , to this day I just can't get enough of Halloween. Mother died in 2008, Father died 2020.
