In the era of 2023, where social media often overwhelms us with micro trends (especially on TikTok), the 2000s cottagecore aesthetic re-emerges like a soothing balm for tired eyes. I mean, imagine a life enveloped by the calming embrace of nature, with mornings spent in sunshine and your very own garden at the back of your house far away from the bustle of the city.
Cottagecore isn’t just a style or an aesthetic — for some people it's a lifestyle and a yearning for the simple joys, be it kneading fresh bread, draping a room in vintage lace, or picking a bouquet of wild flowers next to your house.
Today, we'd love to share with you some of the pictures reflecting this type of lifestyle to help you understand why this particular trend is so captivating to many.

Seattle- The Woodwork Is Breathtaking!

Same. Just moved back and I NEED to see this house.

Can I just sit in a small room there? Or just the dog's house? 'cause this house and garden are what my dreams are made of 🖤
Made A Flower Crown, Didn't Know Where Else To Show It
For many people, the cottagecore aesthetic is a response to the rapid urbanization of our modern world. As our time seems to move quicker with each scroll, double tap, and swipe on social media, there's an increasing desire to just slow down at least a little bit and return to things that are a little… more tangible.

Someone Suggested I Post These Here: I Made Spring Botanical Illustration Cookies! These Are Vanilla Bean Shortbread Decorated With Royal Icing!
Royal does make beautiful cookies! Tastes terrible. I took some classes for cake decorating and vowed to never use Royal icing again since it's the least edible option and I want my cakes to be yummy.

So much artistry and patience into something meant to be swallowed? I wish artist would make garden placards instead of foodstuffs.

I don’t get why you were downvoted for appreciating baking
Load More Replies...I love these photographs. Beautiful. I feel like maybe I use that word too much, but they are.
This needs to be SO MUCH higher! It's currently at number 6 of me typing this comment.
Cottagecore is 1500's run away into the forrest and hippies are more modern,
Load More Replies...Still, cottagecore isn't just a nostalgic retreat into the past; in fact, it's a rather good reminder of what we've lost in our pursuit of convenience and efficiency. While the current generations have gained much in our fast-paced environments — including instant access to world information on a global scale — many feel a disconnect from the very Earth that sustains us. The images of softly billowing curtains in a rustic kitchen and sunflowers bending towards the morning sun all tell a story of much simpler and calm times.
I Put Up A Forest Portal In My Office
It's a mirror that reflects the Wallpaper (the nice foggy looking woods) on the opposite wall,on reddit is a second picture: https://www.reddit.com/r/cottagecore/comments/zwy355/i_put_up_a_forest_portal_in_my_office/ I love this picture, it really looks like a window into the woods =)

Never Have I Thought I Would Fall In Love With A Rolling Pin
It's a good one when the pattern is deep but the dough pulls out easily (that was NOT meant to sound raunchy!)
Art made easy for those of us who are challenged in this area❤️❤️❤️
Sorry for asking, I don't have any talent or knowledge when it comes to baking: what do you use that piece of rolled out dough now for (so that you can still see the pattern properly)?
You could use it for a lot of things! I'd be tempted for a pie lid or biscuits
Load More Replies...Ok y'all hear me out - honest question - how is the pattern be indented on the rolling pin and the dough flat while also having the inverted pattern on it? Do you have to add extra dough? Am I thinking about it too hard? I do love the design though
Yes you're thinking too hard 😄 the part with no pattern just gets flatter than the rest
Load More Replies...I Took These A Few Months Ago For My Birthday. I Wish It Was More Normal To Dress Up Like This In Public Lol
If I saw you dressed like that, I'd smile and give you a compliment. That is feminine beauty personified.
I'd like to think people would simply look an think, "wow, that's class, sophistication, grace, elegance, self-respect and confidence, wrapped up perfectly." And feel inferior rather than inclined to be rude.
It really depends where you live. I have definitely gotten "why are you so dressed up?" (Derogatory)
Load More Replies...I love that dress! I've just bought something very similar in black for my semi-formal - it's very nice.
To be honest, there’s a unique universality to the appeal of the cottagecore lifestyle. Across many cultures and continents, the romanticization of this lifestyle and nature transcends boundaries. Whether it's the quiet Japanese countryside with its Zen-inspired wabi-sabi aesthetic or the French provincial homes surrounded by lavender fields, there's a shared human craving for simplicity and calmness.
I Made Us Matching Coats
We went to do a nice photoshoot and the sun set right when we got to the beach which turned the sky pink. I feel like we are serving faerie princes at the summer cottage vibes here.
I'm so glad to see other men wearing stuff like this because lately I started liking pink and flowery things and I low key still have a feeling that I somehow have to prove my manliness if I put on something pink or flowery. Even though I know I don't have to prove anything, and I say that to myself from time to time. Let us dudes be soft and flowery and wearing pink or magenta or rose gold whenever we want. Or let us feel manly and powerful while wearing pink and flowery stuff. Like these two kings. I'm sorry for this outburst.
In my opinion, men who wear pink are AWESOME! If I see a dude rocking something pink, you bet I'm gonna compliment him!

In the age of TikTok micro trends, the resurgence of the 2000s cottagecore aesthetic serves as a gentle reminder that sometimes, the answers we seek aren't ahead but rather just behind us. We think that this encourages us to embrace the quiet joys, and to find beauty in imperfection.

This Greenhouse Gives Me Strong Cottagecore Vibes
I would like to know how the boards were shaped. My theory is by submerging the wood and slowly bending the boards around a form, then letting them dry while attached to the form so the stay that shape. Whatever method, this is beautiful, and I want to try to do it one day.
Cottage core garden greenhouse would have brick, mason stone and glass, square with a peaked roof. Gardenanswer on YouTube has a gorgeous 🥰 one in the first year of having it.

my dream is to live like this, however my lack of a green thumb and a cat who eats everything, prevents me from doing so.
Try the cat friendly plants (heck catnip even flowers eventually) good rule of thumb is get those tiny bathroom solo cups, most plants only need a half of one of those per week, more if they look droopy.
Load More Replies...You get to marry an elf ? A Faerie ? You're such a lucky woman !!
I may dream of having such a place and I'I've been commenting around here I'd love to live in such a space, but realistically speaking I'd need more time and money than I do to afford all this, because upkeeping so many plants in such a space is tedious. I live in the countryside, in a single house, and just tending to the garden during spring, summer and fall is backbreaking, while also having a 9-to-5 and my art practice. Climbing every week or a few days to water potted plants..... yeahhhh, no. Unless I'd have the money for a maid. Which I most definitely don't.

Imagine Feeding Your Little Chickens As You Enjoy Your Morning Coffee
Please tell me you get another duck called maverick
Load More Replies...I have to say, a lovely garden to sit in while you have your sunrise coffee and tend to chickens (and other loving living things) is a solace like no other!
I've heard from my siblings that your mother has the BEST feed :D
Load More Replies...It’s intense to be honest 😆 nothing relaxing about chookies, they are like toddlers on Xmas morning
The main trick must be not to sprinkle coffee on the chickens, and not make a sip of seeds.
People don't realize how gross and annoying chickens are. We had chickens for 10 years. They destroy everything, poop everywhere and get themselves into stupid scrapes. They also fight frequently if there isn't a rooster to keep them in line. AND if there is a rooster you have to keep a close eye on that a***hole because he will mess you up if he gets a chance.
Agree, they can be hard work, but only because we're trying to keep them in a human defined/small space. They manage perfectly in the wild, where the originally would roam and roost
Load More Replies...Imagine the chickens all lined up on your bed because you overslept by three seconds.
This Edible Flower Chocolate Is Just Too Beautiful To Eat
Is this available for purchase? They are beautiful and would make Wonderful presents.
OP isn't selling them, but I found something pretty similar! https://www.stemswilder.com/products/edible-flower-chocolate-bar
Load More Replies...Urgh. That’s not chocolate, but rather oil and sugar. Much better to look at than to eat!
I actually tried edible flowers once and spoiler alert it was gross-but in chocolate it might be good
Try better-tasting edible flowers like chives (garlicy with a hint of sweetness from the nectar) or nasturtium (mustardy)
Load More Replies...My chocolatier husband says that is NOT chocolate as it contains no cocoa. It's beautiful and it's candy but it's not chocolate.
They look lovely, but to be honest, I would not like to eat that kind of chocolate (and not only because it's too beautiful, I would at least have to close my eyes to not feel like I'm trying to eat soap ) and that's why would probably not give it as a present if I wasn't totally sure they liked unusual food experiences. Wouldn't want it to go stale in someone's cupboard.

7 Months Ago I Made A Moss Rug!
Looks great but I'd likely trip on the raised bits & break something:(
If they made something like this as wall art, like a vertical garden, then I’d love it. I’m too clumsy for anything but flat, flat rugs.
Load More Replies...Gorgeous, but an occupational therapist’s nightmare. Rugs and mats, trip hazards the lot of them. If you’ve not had a long debate with a stubborn 90 year old about why their toilet mat isn’t a good idea when you use a Zimmer frame, you’ve not lived. Then you go back a week later and it’s back again… It’d look amazing as a wall hanging though!

I Painted My Stairs With Little Folk Art Flowers! Now I Need To Decide What Color To Paint The Walls
So cute. Don't paint the wall the same color as the stairs, as the stairs will just blend in.
I say NO! The stairs color pops out when you see the stairs. If you paint the walls, the color will not pop as much. Please get proper advice about what color to paint the walls, so the green of the stairs still pop when seeing them.
I like the cream colour. It makes the flowers stand out. If you match the dark green, it will make the whole hall too dark.

Ah To Live In A Thomas Kinkade Painting
Too bad Kinkade was a hustle. Sued successfully by his gallery franchisees. And a pattern of drunken, abusive behavior.
But the pictures reach something inside of many people. Can we look at the product rather than the man?
Load More Replies...come on folks, don't p**s on this. Lachrista likes it and that's all that matters
It's not p***ing. There's just a lot of irony in putting up his works as the antithesis of, or cure for, "hustle culture." When the man was a proven hustler. Had she said, "This looks cosy. I wish I could live there." I wouldn't have said anything. But yeah, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Load More Replies...Yes, i love his paintings, even if the guy was a massive a*****e....
A man once came up to me and a group of friends and said, "Do you know what this world would look like without you f*ing rejects?! A f*ing Thomas Kinkade painting!" It's one of my favorite memories.

This is the first time I've wished the internet existed when I was young. As a teenager in the 80s, I was really into this aesthetic. I didn't have a name for it; I just thought of it as Victorian or English Country style. I was the only young person I knew who was into this, and I got teased a lot. I would have loved to have an online social group to get support and inspiration from similar people!
Have a look for older Laura Ashley, chintz. It was everywhere in the UK early 80's.
Load More Replies...I love to sew, cook and relax in a country setting. Always have. The plants and flowers are magnificent, and the animals all have a place in the grand scheme of things. I am a very masculine, straight, male, and I always did these things. I never cared what others thought about it, and I have some VERY useful skills as a result. Sewing means you can make your own clothes, quilts, leather goods, etc. Flowers and plants means you can feed and heal yourself. And living there means you can truly relax without the need for artificial means.
