The behavior of dinosaurs is shrouded in mystery separated by millions of years. But, judging from these comics, which are simply called "Dinos and Comics," they're much more mentally mature and less cold-blooded than you might've thought! There's much to learn from the conversations and thoughts that these reptiles have: they observe the absurdity and paradoxes of mental illness, share their emotions openly, and last but not least, they know how to comfort each other and inspire positive feelings. The comic inadvertently makes you wish these types of mentally evolved dinosaurs had survived to this day, because we need them more than ever. But in a sense they are here, and with us, sharing nuggets of wisdom through a few comic panels that this wonderful collective created. Without further ado, forget about your problems for a moment, and immerse yourself into something that the creators call "Dino Therapy." Enjoy!

In one of the previous posts, which you may find here, the authors have mentioned why they chose dinosaurs as protagonists of the comic. They said it's because "they're cool," which I, as a person who liked dinosaurs in my childhood, can totally get behind. First of all, it's factually true, since reptiles (the dinosaurs) are cold-blooded, so naturally, it makes them one of the cooler animals out there. Second, dinosaurs just look awesome. When somebody asks you to think of an awesome animal, most people choose dinosaur. That's a fact I made up, but I feel it's real. But dinosaurs are actually real. That's a real fact.

We've established that dinosaurs are the epitome of cool animals. But what else is there to know about them? Well, a lot. Though much is known about dinosaurs, even more is unknown, as they lived and prospered hundreds of millions years ago. To be precise, they came into prominence in the Mesozoic Era, around 243-233 million years ago, and mostly died off 66 million years ago in a Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event. Only the feathered, avian dinosaurs managed to survive, and are the reason why birds exist today, since they all had an avian dinosaur ancestor.

There are around 700 species of dinosaur, mostly divided into herbivores, and carnivores, and avian and non-avian. The word dinosaur came from the Greek word deinos ("terrible") and sauros ("lizard"). In other words, it was just a fancy way to say he was terrified of them. We have to thank dinosaurs for having birds, turtles, snakes, and crocodiles.

Even though a meteor wiped most of them off the face of the earth, the authors of the comic find the comic hopeful, but realistic. "We think there's hopeful comics already, they are mostly focused on friends and loved ones because as helpful as drugs can be, we think the support of those around you is key to coping with mental health issues."

Someone told my husband that his depression was "in his head" once. He replied "no sh*t! It's a brain chemical imbalance, and last I checked my brain was in my head".

Yes. My depression is caused by my pineal gland not making enough serotonin

Ah the classic notion that you can control the sadness by simply thinking positive. Gee why didn't I think of that 🙄

You can tho, you just choose not to because it would feel uncomfortable considering you’re conditioned to the same emotions

A few years ago my mom went to a church that was frequented by many of the local mentally ill. The preacher made a comment that if someone is taking pills they should stop taking them and pray to God for help instead as god can cure all ills. Well half the mentally ill stopped taking their medication. And it was a huge problem. The church ended up firing the preacher and making an announcement god can help but medication is also important. Please if your on meds keep taking them

This is so right. People just don't understand how depression works and they act like they knew everything about it

Given his glasses don't align with his eyes, this means a lot. Plus, the meds go in my blood, my blood goes to my head.

It's hard to pinpoint the exact number, but I'd wager that mental health comics contribute a lot to many people's general well-being: they're easy to digest, they're relatable, and they help people find a simple way to vent. Here's a round of comics about mental health that can be found here on Bored Panda. Here are comics about mostly ADHD that are called... Mostly ADHD! Feeling down? Well, perhaps a self-ironic depressed chicken might cheer you up! Yearning for positivity? Blue Llama will be like a ray of sunshine to your heart!

Good. If you don't try, you won't fail. If you don't hope, you won't be let down.

Yes. I'm aware of the truly terrible things man is capable of and they all disgust me. I weep for the future of humanity and the ones who have to exist in a present that they can't escape from. I say mean things from time to time because being mean is a much needed necessity in our world right now. Be strong, be hard, be real, and stand firm in your convictions... Right or wrong, you might not get a chance later. Also, I really lile purple, but black is the best.
